Q: Can we improve our wifi reception and range in SGA?
Sorry for bad english and help is appreciated!
A: You need better router or antena, fix for Wi-Fi on Ace didn't see ;(
Is there any tweak out there for wifi?
I have found a wifi configuration file in my ace, i don't remember where it is located but if i remember right in this file was writen the power of wifi.
Hope can tweak it...

Hello, I am very new user for ATOM LIFE>...
I finnally upgraded to my wm6 ENG version and was so glad that There 's a very nice guy answering my questiion and helping me out.
I"m so... overwhelmed.
anyway..
Now i Have a wifi problem...I have used XDA neo before and it catches wifi signal very well but my atom life doesn't catch a thing..for some reason..
*********Do i need to do some setuping or something?? for strengthen the wifi signal? ( I tried the WIFI utility but it doesn't show any difference)
Please let me know.. HOW...guide please...*************
and also, When i tried to connect with WINDOWS LIVE or messenger, even though wifi was on and was connected it kept saying
"Contact your cellphone Provider or change your internet settings.."
I don't get it why I think it's something to do with my WIFI connectivity..like weak signal..maybe
So basically, my question is
***HOW TO make wifi signal stronger? is there any wait to alter it ? using program maybe or..registry??
Please HELP me out ...noob here... I don't know nothing...
Also is there any way to reduce battery power? ATOM LIFE consumes a lotta battery .......... i found..
I willl wait for your GREATEST HELP Pro users !!!
HELP ME !! thanks.
omg
nobody has an idea..?
Wifi.. singnal strength is purely based on Hardware..
WiFi of O2 seems mis-leading you, first just check whether the WiFi signal did has a problem on your O2 by checking --> Settings --> Connections -- WiFi. (1) Then Check WiFi Utiltity (2) For some reason if (1) DID NOT goes to then screen with Preferred APs / search APs When (2) WiFi is turned ON, then probably your O2 has a software problem / crash. just backup everything and hard reset it with a clean boot (NO backup restore and no software installed). Try to use the MSN again by WiFi and see if the connection goes well.
In case anyone else is having WiFi performance problems (I know I was) I found a setting which seems to have helped.
Go to Settings...Wireless & Networks...Wi-Fi settings. Turn-off WiFi for now. Then hit the Menu button on the bottom and choose Advanced. In that menu check "Best Wi-Fi Performance". Then turn Wifi back on.
I am also trying WPA/WPA2 PSK with TKIP encryption instead of AES.
For me with WPA/WPA2 PSK with AES and the default setting of "Best Wi-Fi Performance" disabled I was getting poor results (with a NetGear N600 WNDR3700 router). I was testing with TKIP instead of AES when I stumbled on the new-to-me WiFi performance setting so I don't know which one helped but it works now and I don't really have a TKIP/AES preference so I'm not messing with it.
Since it helped me I thought I'd share.
You may not want to use TKIP. If you check your network, it will not be running at wireless N speeds. Draft N specification does not allow use of TKIP. Plus it's generally a less secure encryption algorithm. Thanks for the wifi performance tip btw!
OK. I set it back to AES. Seems like it was the enabling of
Settings...Wireless & Networks...Wi-Fi settings...Menu button...Advanced...Best Wi-Fi Performance
was what made the difference. When I uncheck it the performance goes back to bad.
Anyone know what that setting does?
Good question. I'd assume that is simply diverts 100% power to the WiFi transmitter. Anyone ?
It increases power to the radio, yes, to increase the range and speed. Supposedly smooths out shaky/faraway connections.
In your house, you could probably get a similar boost by tweaking your router, without the battery drain.

Can you elaborate on what one can do to tweak the router settings. I'd be willing to test and report back.

Would like to know as well.

is there a way to boost the wifi receiver to get better signal?
I don't know of any, but you could try an app like Wifi analyzer to see what channel would be best suited and also make sure your router isn't set to a lower dB.
ok ill try that. thanks
Hi all,
I'm using the default application "Router WI-FI" on HD2.
I'd want to know if there is some setting (maybe in system reg?) useful to increase the WI-FI signal
(in SETTINGS-->CONNECTIONS-->WI-FI-->ADVANCED (I don't know if translation is correct, my WM is in Italian) I've already set BETTER PERFOMANCE)
... with this setting if I'm in the same room of HD2 I can connect an other device but if I go in another room (the next room, not upstairs...) the connection isn't any more possible... the signal is too poor
Thanks
No idea?
Doubt you can do any more than the best performance setting as the hardware in terms of antenna is biggest issue.
You could try WMWiFi Router software & see if that gives better signal performance as it is now offered free

My dear, u do 1 thing u replace windows with android...
WIFI works great.
Works fine with WM6.5.5 & WMWiFi Router.
If signal range is weak either you are trying go beyond the ability of the hardware or you have the HD2 issue with poor connection on spring contacts to the WiFi antenna (sometimes caused by bad/careless handling on repaired devices)
In my opinion the wifi works ok.
I can connect the HD2 to other wifi nets also if they haven't a so good signal.
It seems only when the HD2 has to be a router that the signal transmitted is poor :/
Hi, since when I bought my device I have this problem,
Its the W007 MT6575 smartphone, it keep disconecting my wireless conection when I try to play an online game, doesnt matter if I'm on the side of the router.
Edit: for surfing on the browser looks fine, so hard to get a disconect.
It has this issue too to find conections at middle range, such a crap wifi hardware I guess.
But I'm here too know if there are maybe other way to improve my wifi, like on engineer mode, I saw there is other channels to change in wifi and frequency and other things...As you can see on this screenshots:
