UCKK6 OTA update and the jig disabled secondary bootloader. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Would like to know if accepting the OTA update installs the jig disabled secondary bootloader that the UCKK6 leak included. Anyone who has done the OTA update and also has the jig boot into download mode using the jig. If the secondary bootloader was not changed, the screen should indicate the counter has been reset. If that indication is not there, then additional testing will be needed to verify if the bootloader is jig disabled.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This is on 2.3.6 stock. Incase you can't read it, in green it says erasing download information succeeded. I can't remember what it said before when I reset from zedomax.

Good news.
On UCKH7 stock bootloader it says the same.
Looks like the OTA update doesn't include the secondary bootloader, or if it does, it's not the disabled one. Most likely just doesn't install it at all.
Thanks for the quick reply.

No problem creepy. Thanks for all your work here. Once its confirmed that the jig method still works I will reflash with the zedo method. I just need to be sure not to be stuck with an incremented flash counter.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

It probably does. Here is a link to the UCKH7 Secondary Boot Loader. I am using it on UCKK6 and it works. I know the oneclick UCKK6 released by Designgears does. I have not installed the OTA.

Yes I updated via ota on Thursday after I returned to stock via your thread. I took the photo of the jig screen and the screen shot today. The first pic is crappy because it was taken on my tablet.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

OK. I was just a little confused by your other post. I think the most likely scenario is that the ota update does not install any bootloader. It's really very risky to install bootloader via ota, and I don't think AT&T is willing to do that after the fiasco they had with the first Captivate ota update.

yea , i am a confusing person , I just dont have the balls to try and flash cwm and be stuck with the yellow triangle lol. I am ok running stock 2.3.6 for now but i will want the ics port when it comes out. I just wish i could get all the ringtones in unnamed rom.
---------- Post added at 10:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 PM ----------
ok I took the plunge and did the OTA update on thursday when it was released , running stock 2.3.6 I flashed cwm using the zedomax method through odin which gave me the yellow triangle , powered off and inserted my usd jig and no more triangle and custom binary count reads 0 and it is rooted. however now my wifi isnt working.

Attempted to flash using only a custom kernel (counter already reset) and it failed real quick. No other modifications. So... as others have probably already mentioned if you have a custom kernel (even without other changes) it will likely fail. I'll be going over to the mobile odin method now.

I am assuming when you flashed back you forgot to flash a stock kernel at the same time. try using odin to get back to stock and you should be fine

Was gonna ask the same thing.
If you can you should be able to to use ODIN to get back to stock.
Sounds like you forgot to flash a 2.1 kernel before you rebooted.
yaddayaddayadddaaaaa
Surprised no one has said "OMG! WRONG SECTION! I'M NOT GONNA HELP YOU!"
But yea, flash a kernel if you can can. Check the Bionix website for them. Also, in the future, make sure you READ everything pertaining to a rom you flash. If you had, you would have known you needed to flash a 2.1 kernel if you wanted to revert.
Odin 1.3
Yeah I've done the same thing before. When you downgrade from 2.2 you must flash a 2.1 kernal first. Best thing to do is re-flash back to stock with Odin. Make sure you use Odin version 1.3 and not version 1. Search the dev forum for how to flash with Odin. The Vibrant is very hard to brick permanently so you should be able to recover from this soft brick.

use Odin to restore your rom!
I think the easiest thing to do is flash any of the ROM that have Kernels in them, I have only had to use odin once, and that was just to try it out. I always keep stuff on my card, But i guess if you didnt going back to stock through odin would be the next best thing.

Depends on what you flash, but even if its stock with no root, root is very easy on the phone, just do whatever worked for you the first time.

[Q] dumb post root question

I finally rooted my note but how do I tell which one i have. I installed Odin a while ago which is what i used to root today, as I'm sitting here i think i used the Odin from the non flash counter thread...but i want the flash counter root method so i can flash rom. Super user was already installed after Odin finished if that tells you anything.

Go into download mode and if it says custom binary and you have a flash count, then you went the odin method from Da_G's root.
Edit: you can flash all roms either way. Once you have CWM, you are good to go!

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
They both achieve root via different levels of the platform. One ups the flash counter, one does not. But no difference in the end. Just your choice depending on if you are worried about the flash counter or not.
If you can boot into clockworkmod recovery, then you just select the zip file of the ROM you want to flash and you are done! Nothing else to it. But just because you are rooted, it does not mean you have recovery. Search the threads in the dev section and install recovery if you want to flash ROMS.

I don't have recovery yet, ill probably flash that tomorrow. I just don't understand why there's 2 or more methods for root when they all do the same thing...why would anyone want to trip the flash counter if they didn't have to by using the other method...unless one was available before the other. I guess in the end it doesn't matter but I'm glad i rooted this way rather than the way i thought i did just in case i need a replacement...although i haven't heard of any issues with flash counter yet.

If you don't want to trip the counter, you also need to install cwm via the "no flash counter" method. See the second post in the recovery thread. but once you have that on there, you can flash non-odin roms all day without tripping the counter.

FYI: I rooted my note AT&T when it had GB(stock) and when Samsung squeezed out the official ICS I updated through Kies which in turn unrooted the Note.
I read this thread -->here<-- hoping for a similar method to root the official ICS 4.0.4 WITHOUT tripping the counter. So far (if I didn't miss any info) only found modded ROMs and flashing methods. I don't want to flash I simply would like to repeat the same rooting process as that of GB.
Any suggestions?

I'm interested in the same thing, given there are directions and an Odin Tar for System flash (which doesn't trip counter) for Stock Gingerbread which has root installed. Is this something the devs could look into? I know that there are a few that are working with stock and modding after stock is rooted, it would be great to have that system.tar for flashing and using ADB to install CWM and then still keep the flash counter from being tripped.
I know there is a CWM for resetting the flash counter, but that's not something I want to mess with. Have heard rumor that they can still see that you flashed something that isn't stock and that's even if you have reset the counter. Not sure on confirmation but that's what I heard. Just want to stay clean like I have already.
Thank you all for any help with this issue!!

You put phone into download mode and flash through Odin. There are many guides on here for directions

yeah i know, many guides i have done, walked through, but nothing helps. odin flashes without problem. phone restarts and still no recovery with bootloop... flashed this and that.. and still same issues.
Flash JB leak firmware via odin (comes as 3 parts - Pda, phone and csc). Then see if it boots. If it doesn't, try to enter recovery and factort reset.
Report back what happens.

I've seen a couple of these cases happening lately, my bet is on the bootloader, eventhough I don't encourage people to try flashing it. Or, as always, OP is holding something back.
Neo, I'm not familiar with the ROM being downloaded from a non-stable internet connection and I know you get them from an internet cafe. Now, is it possible that Odin would allow (flash) a corrupted ROM?

I literally did this yesterday. After you flash stock you have to boot into 3e (stock recovery) and wipe data. This will stop the bootloop and you can carry on with rooting if that's what you want.
It's better to wipe dalvik, you need CWM for that, that's why it's always suggested to flash a custom ROM when on a bootloop.

work like it is suppose to.

[Q] phone won't work with odin

okay, so basically, i had 4.3 with ss running hyperdrive.I deleted the hyperdrive slot and then odin'd my phone back to stock, and proceeded to upgrade my phone up to current. I then used towel root, to make sure that i had root, and went on to install the newest (3.71 i believe) version of safestrap. I was running the aroma installer for the new hyperdrive when it just cut out and now my phone won't boot and the exact files i used to restore my phone with odin earlier today won't work anymore. Does anybody have any ideas on what i can do?

But I had seen on the safestrap sticky that you had directed me to yesterday, that was the most recent version and i even asked somebody on that thread for the modules to flash. I also read that with 4.4 you had to use the stock slot that was the downside. So what exactly do i have to do to get a rom working on 4.4?

Phone still won't comply with odin, it fails every time, even with files directly from samsung. I just want to get my phone back and running

I actually had odin 3 but it kept not responding. I took the phone to best buy and they fixed it real quick for me.

I've found that if the cable isn't positioned just right, Odin won't respond. Took me a while to figure that one out. Had to hold the cable and phone just right during my last Odin install to make it take.

Nearly lost my lunch when my first Odin flash failed. It was only due to sure strength of will and some persistence that I figured out what the problem was. At one point I thought I had a $380 brick.
