Is the 4g compatible with vibrant does it fix the banding issues. Has anyone tried this.

I have the i9000 and the picture quality is not as good as it should be, and really not worth having in my experience so far.

It had been stated by a dev that it is a voltage issue...not firmware.

I have heard from a reputable source that the 4g camera does not have the same banding issues as the i9000 camera
You do know you can order a ffc from connexion here that is 100% functioning, right?
I did follow some guide lines for the ffc adjusting the front camera and got alot better picture quality. But still wondering if its worth getting that camera for the 4g and using it.

Will the camera improve once we get the official 2.3.4 update?

Does your camera have a PROBLEM or is it just unsatisfactory?
The upgrade you're talking about hasn't improved camera quality. Some say it's worse, with a few minor improvements... but it's difficult to judge. What I'm confident about though is that it probably isn't going to dazzle anyone judging from the preliminary feedback. No one is ranting and raving about it unfortunately.
Agree, the camera does not produce very good pictures, mine are not focused, blury, dull etc., have not complained since it is not on top of my list but would be very happy if it could be improved, as it is at the moment not much use for taking acceptable pictures.
lol, NO ONE knows how much it will improve the camera or not, only Motorola does im sure, or testers. we have topics covering this. i have posted a topic about it with many pictures. we wont know how much the camera will be improved until the "real" release (OTA). the hongkong or whatever one isnt the official release. the people thinking the camera in that one is what it will look like in the OTA need to think again. There is a app called Camera 360 you should download and try, if you like it buy it. it improves the quality/color alot. if you put it on enhance or HDR mode.
The issue i have is the flash in the stock at, it doesnt capture at the right moment lol. with focus it think it does very well. also make you wipe it off well, it gets dirty easy i have noticed. when HTC releases the mytouch 4gslide i will most likely go to it cause its supposed to have a great camera, etc. as well as nokias N9 that looks great.
My pictures are just fine. This isn't an slr or even a point-n-shoot. It's a camera phone with a lens 3/16th of an inch in diameter.
First thing anyone should do with any phone is clean the lens before taking pictures. Grease and dirt from your hands will make pictures appear to be dull, out of focus, and blurry. My phone takes decent pictures. Could it be better? Yes. Is it good enough? Also a yes for a phone camera.

I wanted to say this, but my post count isn't high enough. I ASSUMED that people would know this. And oddly, I didn't have as much of an issue with needing to make sure the lens is clean on my last phone as I do with the Atrix. I wonder if it's because my last phone had the lens in the middle and the Atrix lens is at the edge?

I think the camera is much better than my iPhone. I can understand everyones complaints but after dragging the pictures to my comp they are much my h better to view. Also the video is awesome, not so my h when watching on the phone itself but after transfer to comp its amazing. Stop *****ing about all these little things and just go buy a different phone and stop sh**ing up the Attic forum.
using additional programs like Vigette dose not make photos better?

I came to the Atrix from an iPhone 4. Generally, I love Android and everything about my Atrix, to the point where I even bought the hyper-expensive webtop thing (with the debian mod, of course). But the camera being better than the iPhone? I would say you're seeing through rose-colored glasses, but given how the Atrix takes pictures, tulip-colored glasses may be more appropriate.
Don't know what all the qq is about. I just shot 300 pictures of a vacation. Only a few bad apples.
Seeing as how we have almost identical specs was wondering if we can get this ported over for the Evo 3D.

Oh how bout that! Forgot they had a single 8MP camera. Damn stupid 3D camera! Not only do they suck at taking 3D stuff they also suck at regular pics! Saw this posted somewhere else I thought it could help our camera.

Camera works fine for me....
It's just bigger, not better.
We might not be able to use that file but our Dev's should at least be able to accomplish the same thing. I would guess the settings would be the same.
I find the camera to take decent pictures but if they get rid of the compression it would probably be a lot better of a camera. The picture quality in that thread looks fantastic with the modded settings.
So im on my second droid x2 now and the camra sux the pictures are comming out kinda blotchy as if i had a 2 or 3 megapixel camra. Also the flash seems to lag n the pix still come out kinda dark. Anybody else havn these problems? I called verizon and they said therez a new update out that might fix it. Has anybody got this update yet? Has it fixed this problem? And how would i know if my phone allready has this update?

What android version do u have running?
The pics don't look the best but once there not being displayed on a pentile they look great. I can't vouch for blotchy pics but they are deff horribly pixilated while viewing on this gaudy screen. So glad I didn't pay for my x2.

Im running 2.3 stock. Also they actually look pretty crappy on the computer as well. Not just the phone. While im aiming the camra and getting ready to take a pic everything looks fine but once it actually takes the pic it looks terrible. Also like i said the flash seems to lag as well

Try viewing them on your computer or some other device that doesn't have this pentile (which I think translates to "crap") display. I have the DX2. It is my only phone. I do like the phone but the screen is poop. I don't know why they decided to go with this. Anywho. For just phone things the screen is fine. But looking at pictures or viewing movies is pretty bad.
I owned the captivate for a long time and ive owned my s2 for a few Weeks now and I have to say yhe camera on this phone is disappointing to me maybe a dev will come up with a better camera for this phone

If you want a better camera , I am sorry to say you will need to buy a stand-alone.
what dont you like about it? I think its pretty damn good.
Are you using a custom ROM? I know some of them mess with the camera in a bad way.
Coming from an iPhone 4 (which I loved taking pictures with) the GS2 is so much better. Especially when using an alternative camera app such as Camera Zoom FX.
Hell, the images look on par with pics taken with my fiancees 4s. The dof and fov loom better on the 4s. But, the gs2 has better color accuracy and sharpness. The flash is also much better.

As much as I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it would actually be beneficial in backing up your complaint with at least a little detail on the actual issues you're referring to.

It isn't better? So what's wrong with it? I agree that the camera app for the captivate was great.
But to complain about the one in this phone is like complaining about the 2012 Bentley, in that it's like the 2011's.

Just because it's similar doesn't mean it needs to be replaced. I think it is a great app, better than the captivate's.

Yeah, this happens to me as well. I rarely change the settings, but it is kind of annoying.
i like the camera on this phone, nice colors and clarity.
Well the main difference between a 5 MP camera on the Captivate and the 8 MP on this phone is the size of the picture, nothing more. And yeah, the Captivate had an epic camera already, and at such high numbers, I guess the jump isn't that high...

The Captivate did have an excellent camera, however taking presentable quality indoor shots under
normal lighting conditions day or night was a impossibility due to the Captivate's lack of flash.
(not to mention that outdoor dawn or night shots of people were impossible without flash)
I have to agree that i'm disappointed in the camera. A few things i notice:
- the captivate seems to handle incandescent and "soft white" CFLs a lot better.
- while it's nice having a flash.. it's just too bright. wish there was a way to dim in in software
- when i make EV adjustments: there seems to be almost no noticeable difference between 0 and +2. -2 how ever is a fairly drastic change (as it should be).
- when set to spot meter on the captivate, i could aim at the darker parts of a subject to get the image brighter.
- the front camera seems to deal with warm lights better than the main.
So far, i suspect that there might be a max shutter speed somewhere and that's why doing +EV doesn't work in low light.
When i have time, i will try various test shots.
One test i should also try is to use the digital zoom, so the flash is farther away from the subject.
Another thing i notice is i feel the screen is overly saturated and dark compared to the captivate when both are set to auto.
the only thing I agree with is that the LED flash is very bright at times. Otherwise, the camera is top notch. If you need a better camera, get a standalone.
