[Q] ICS Passion v7 - wrong timezone, slow download - help? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a noob so I can't ask a question in the dev forum on this thread (where it would be more appropriate):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362961
I've got the ROM installed and I'm not going to complain about the lag because I've read that it clears up. However, I haven't seen any comments about 2 problems I have.
1) I'm on the east coast of the US and I've got the settings to auto-update over the network, but my phone thinks it's 5hrs ahead of my actual time.
2) When I try to download anything through the market or using apps (like SMS Backup +), it just crawls at a tiny fraction of my previous speeds.
Are these more "just wait for it" issues that will clear up or is there something I can do?
I've already installed CWM's Rom Manager and used it to fix permissions and rebooted a couple of times. THANK YOU!

For the time, it's better to just select your time zone. I've never had the time be accurate when set to automatic. As for the lag, I believe it just takes time. I'm flashing it now so I'll let you know if I notice the same thing and if it seems unusual.
Edit:
After flashing and letting the phone sit, the biggest thing I noticed was it running slow and the battery dropped from 98% to 30% in the 2 hours it sat. I hadn't tweaked my settings yet and CPU Spy revealed that my system was running at 1200 MHz for the majority of the time. Here's what I've been doing with previous versions of ICS that I feel makes a huge difference. In Rom Toolbox, set CPU from 1200 MHz to 1000. Then go to settings > developer options > Don't keep activities. This seems to kill activities more efficiently than a task killer/manager. I also don't allow any other stuff in the background like google getting my location. I also keep gps off unless I need it. With these settings and v6.5 I was getting an average of 10 hours on a charge with frequent use. I'll keep updating as the rom settles.

I set it manually and that seems to stick fine. As a test, I then set it back to auto-via-network and it's still right after a couple of reboots.
The slow internet downloads are KILLING me.

Prior to following the instructions in the ICS passion v7 OP, I dd a ClockworkMod backup of my CyanogenMod7-Kang setup.
Now, I've done a CWM backup of this ICS setup. Can I use CWM to go back and forth from one backup to the other?
...well, I guess I'll find out as I'm about to give it a shot.
Edit: didn't have any problems going from the clean ICS install back to my CM7-kang backup! (whew)
On the other hand, when I tried to go forward from the CM7-kang backup to the ICS backup, it was craptacular and I had to flash the ICS rom again. Not too awful, I guess.

Also, holy crap it's faster now that I let it sit, turned on, while I slept! Yeehaw!
Even the market-downloading is blazing.

a fellow noob with a problem on ics v7
for some reason I can't see the external sd on the phone. I CAN access the external sd on my pc and write files to it. I just cant get the phone apps to SEE the external sd. Help? Should I get back to stock then go for ics v7? (I tried a few mods in-between, might not be ics v7 fault - otherwise everything great with it!) Well, I am going to go back to stock via odin now (sigh) and then to v7 to see if that's the problem.

I've had similar problems. I think the fix is to format everything, but I'd rather not so I'm must accepting things as they are for now. Just a layperson guess, though.

The time zone needs to be set manually.
The slow 3G connection is the only noticeable problem. Wifi speeds are the same as always. Toggling the wifi on/off seems to help my 3G speeds at first. I used the speedtest app in the market to test.
Good luck!

update to v8
I had the same snail download speeds on v7 and am not sure why, but now I'm up to v8 and it is back to the crazy fast downloads!

ROMs & Working MMS

Are there any ROMS out there that have working MMS ? I have tried a number of them and no luck. I know these are labors of love but it's such a vital part of the phone itself to be left on the back burner. The only ones it works for me are 2.1 v's 1,2 & 3 every other ROM i tried it's always the same thing, no soft button lights, no trackball lights, no MMS. I've tried every fix offered under the sun & it just doesn't work, OR it might work, 18 hours later.
From what i have read it looks like half the people have no problems & have are in the same boat as me.
any suggestions?
thanks
I use sense-able and have no issues sending or recieving mms msgs
the MMS fix is quite simple. What ROM are you using? I know that in the EE thread there is a link to ivans-apns and instructions on removing your current APNs and installing the APNs from ivans rom.
I have working MMS on every rom I have tried except for one .....
Thanks for the 411 and I must say that name gave me the first laugh for the day "Cornbreadfarts"
Fn Funny dude.
well last night i loaded ZenEXP-Eris_Rev6-fixed_mak, i hadn't seen that one before and it looked very stylish. The overclocking isn't so important but i like the apps2sd. Followed all the instructions including flashing the mms fix also cited in the thread. I should have tried it our right away but i began to get comfy with the rom then when i remembered, bingo, same thing. Attaching even a very small photo gets a generic network error, it'll try 4 times to send it then stop. With other roms, sometimes 18 hours later it'll suddenly go through.
before this I'd tried evil eris, lightning, Dvanilla2fast, vanilladroidv1, fresh 2.1 & aloysius, all with the same result.
every rom has their own little quirks, evileris would seem to stall for a while then suddenly go through all the motions of your frantic thumb presses while u thought there was something wrong. I tried all the solutions offered also with the apn's in the evileris thread but still the same thing
the zenexp seems to restart itself at random times and does not come out of landscape mode after taking a pic. I have to press settings, then back & it resets itself
I like the variety in the various roms and the little extra bells & whistles that the developers add it's just this 1 issue really for me. I don't make a lot of calls and i mostly text back & forth to my daughter in NYC. Recently a loved pet of 13years died but beforehand i couldn't send her any pics of the cat in the days previous.
I guess i'll look for this sense-able and try that. I just don't get it though, we are all using an eris, it should either work or be broken for everyone right ?

ZenEXP-Eris doesn't restart itself at random times out-of-the-box, you must have installed or modified something that's causing that error. My releases go through a somewhat rigorous beta testing before they see the light of day - at least since Rev5 - and we've only seen minor issues upon release of them.
As for the accelerometer (the "not coming out of landscape" issue you refer to), that's a known bug in Rev6 that was found after releasing it. It is fixed in Rev7.
At the begining of my ZenEXP-Eris thread, I state that you should read the entire thread twice before flashing. This is so you know what you're doing, what to expect, how to make things work properly and what bugs are present in the ROM. Obviously you didn't read my entire thread, or you would have found the MMS-Fix, which is located about 6 lines below the ROM download
On a side note, Rev7 includes the MMS Fix built right into the ROM, no need to flash the MMS-Fix through Recovery like you do now for Rev5 and Rev6. You'll be able to enjoy Rev7 (hopefully) tomorrow (if not the next day).

Sorry, I thought I had been clear, I did read the whole thread and did dl & flash the mms fix zip u attached. I'm only reporting on the problems I'm having. This isn't a personal attack on you.
As I said, I understand these are labors of love and I wouldn't report something if it didn't happen. I have had 3 occasions where it restarted itself and all 3 times all I had installed was vignette, meebo, Google translate, shopper & barcode scanner.
Thank you for your reply

I'm sure it wasn't a personal attack, but I'm not sure why you're telling me that?
Anyway, if you installed the MMS fix, you should have working MMS. The MMS fix hasn't failed anyone that I know of and I used it myself on Rev5 and Rev6. Did you boot into the phone and set it up after flashing the ROM, but before install the MMS fix? The file the MMS fix installs gets overwritten during the first boot, which is why you need to reboot before installing it.
I don't use any of the apps you've installed, so I can't attest to their compatibility with ZenEXP-Eris. What I recommend you do is backup your data, go into Recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvik/ext, then re-install the latest release of Rev6, boot into ZenEXP-Eris and set your phone up, reboot into Recovery and install the MMS fix. Before installing any applications test it all out for a few hours, the proceed to install them one-by-one, leaving an hour or so in between installs until you (possibly) find what is causing the issue.
I'm really sorry to hear this issue persists for you but, as I mentioned earlier, you're the first to report such issues, thus the reason I suspect something else as the culprit
Feel free to PM me for one on one support if you need it.

edit: Also, regarding your softkey lights, they only turn on in dark areas. Hold your finger over the light sensor to the left of the earpiece speaker to see them light up. In ZenEXP-Eris the jogball LED doesn't function, but I have mapped notifications to the charging/power LED in the upper-right-hand corner of the Eris as an alternative, for now.

Hey,
There are several out there that work. Ivans are typically good to go out of the box and most if not all the Sprint based roms will be good to go by using the apn fix. Its a trial and error thing just find a rom that you like and give the thread a good read.
Most all the posted roms now have an mms "fix" or are good out of the box. I know it gets a bit disheartening flashing, setting up, wiping, flashing etc...lol...but thats the joy of a rooted handset...trial and error till you find a rom and dev you like well enough to stick with.

I actually did exactly what you said. I downloaded all the files first then i formatted the sd card, toggled, loaded the rom & the mms fix, wiped the handset (reset & dalvik), flashed the rom. When it loaded I set up the phone, power cycled & booted to recovery, flashed the mms fix and restarted the phone.
I wanted to make sure that apps2sd was working to i went to the market & installed vignette (excellent photo app) and the usual google made apps like translate, shopper etc
it was after all this I remembered the mms, so i tried it & nada.
I'm about to reformat & wipe now so i'll see what happens

Constant data use after reinstall

Hey guys
I just installed the leaked AT&T ICS (the CWM version that's been posted), and so far everything's generally great.
However, ever since I upgraded to ICS, my phone has been downloading data like crazy over WiFi. Oddly enough, this has happened on my phone before as well when I was using GB, and I believe it also occurred then right after a reinstall.
It's incredibly annoying because whatever the phone's downloading, it seems like it's using a lot of bandwidth because any other internet-related activities I try and do take *forever*. I've rebooted the phone several times, tried stopping every service that I can, and turned off all auto account sync stuff. It's been several hours since I installed ICS, and it's still going.
I'm going to let it sit overnight and see what it's doing in the morning, but even if this is only a temporary problem it's REALLY annoying. Especially since if it's not done doing whatever it's doing by morning, I won't be able to use cellular data on it because I only have the 200 MB plan and don't feel like losing my entire volume for the month because I can't stop my phone from downloading.
Any ideas as to what's causing this? Like I said I'm pretty sure this isn't an ICS-specific problem because it happened under 2.3.4 also, I just want to be able to shut down whatever's doing this excessive downloading. And I'd love to know *what* exactly is being downloaded that's it's taking so long and using so much bandwidth.
Thanks for any help you guys can lend
If you do switch to data to let it pull it down, you can use the data usage in the settings to see what app is doing it. My Data Manager (free in the Play Store) can also monitor data, on cell data and wifi. That would also tell you what app is doing it.
I would guess you either have a ton of data in your Google account, such as contacts, calendar, Gmail, or you have an app that is trying to sync data down. I'm guessing you are restoring apps, then notice the data draw. Think about any apps you have that may sync data back and forth. If you sign into your Google account at initial set up, it should (depending on settings) automatically download and install your apps. But, that should be apparent, you should see the downloads as it does them app by app.
All that is based on guesses of what I would consider "normal" behavior after installing a new ROM.
Good luck tracking it down.

Check what is using it, and listing what APKs you added might help.

Or avoid all that and use the native ICS data monitor.
The weird thing is that I hadn't really done anything to the phone when it started using all the data. My Google account doesn't really have much in it (don't have a ton of contacts, don't use it to back up apps/etc.), and I think the only things I'd done app-wise were updating a couple preinstalled apps (Facebook and Maps, I think), but I hadn't installed anything new yet.
I installed My Data Manager, but it looks like it's already done whatever it was doing. Though, even now the download arrow is constantly lit up on WiFi, but I think whatever it's doing now has something to do with the network I'm on (dorm room) as I've noticed almost constant non-zero download bandwidth being used on my desktop as well when it's on the network. If I turn WiFi off now it isn't constantly using cellular data any more, so thankfully it looks like it's finished with whatever it was doing and the constant WiFi downloading is a network, not phone, issue.
On an unrelated note, I was going to reinstall a tethering app, but figured I'd give a try to the built-in tethering first (don't have a plan). On GB it wouldn't even let me start up the tethering without a plan IIRC, but under ICS the tethering not only starts up, I can even connect my laptop to it. Unfortunately I couldn't get internet access on my laptop though, so I'm guessing there's still a restriction on it. Just found it interesting that you can actually enable the tethering without a plan now.
But there's a more serious problem, however. Is ATT clamping down on third-party tethering? I used to use Barnacle WiFi Tether, so I went to install that from the market. Well, Play tells me the app isn't able to be installed on my device because of carrier restrictions (lame). No problem, I figure, I go to their website and download the apk from there and manually install.
Well, when I try and start tethering using Barnacle, it says "WiFi: Could not set ad-hoc mode of wlan0: Operation not supported on transport endpoint"
Does this mean I'm screwed? Will any third-party tethering apps work? To be honest I'm not really into trying out 5 million different ROMs on my phone and don't really mind TW at all, so I'd prefer to keep it stock. But I use my phone overseas and need to be able to use tethering, and if ATT is really clamping down on third-party apps then I'll be installing a completely stock kernel once one's easily available.
Thoughts? Anyone else experimented with tethering on UCLC2 yet?
Well, never mind regarding the tethering stuff - I'd still be interested anyway to know if ATT is trying to actively prevent you from using it in ICS, but I just flashed the SHOstock2 ROM and I gotta say I'm blown away. Even after using it for a half hour I'm pretty sure I'll never go back to stock again (I'm sure most of you would say DUH to that), has everything I'd want in a ROM and nothing I don't. Default tethering works right out of the box too, so I don't even have to worry about installing another app.
Only kinda weird thing is the data indicator keeps switching between H+ and 3G (I'd post on the actual ROM thread but I don't have 10 posts yet...). I'm only on the 200 MB data plan so I switched it to the wap.cingular APN, but even after doing that it still switches. Data seems fast - and I'm not one to be super-concerned with data speeds since I'm mostly just checking e-mail - so it's not a huge deal, but figured I'd mention it anyway.

The data switching is normal. The device idles on 3g to save battery and kicks up to 4g when it needs the speed. Stock roms hide this behavior by showing the 4g icon even on 3g

I never thought to press the menu key in there, there is no indication there are more options. By default it doesn't show wifi data, but on my TouchPad running CM9, that's all it shows. Guess I shouldn't have assumed the ICS wouldn't be without menu use fragmentation like every other android version.
Yeah, the data switching on a custom ROM is normal. Just showing you what the phone actually does. It can save power by reverting back to the 3G vs H when you are idle. The first thing most custom ROMs add is tethering on the built in method. If the leak let you start it up, I'm guessing its incomplete. I would bet att does the same in ICS as GB and has an app to check your account before letting you turn on tethering. Att can detect tethering on the back end too, so if you are caught they warn you first, but you can end up being put on the tethering plan if you keep tethering.

Ahh, thanks for the info on the data switching, never knew about that!
I don't use tethering in the US, but I do overseas, which is why I was concerned about ATT blocking tethering apps. However, I realized it's probably not an issue anyway because I'm guessing that tethering wouldn't be blocked with a non-ATT SIM card. Anyway, SHOstock rocks, so it's all good
Also good to know that ICS can monitor WiFi traffic by default - didn't think to hit the settings button on that screen. I gotta admit, that's one huge interface design flaw of Android. There should be some kind of indicator on the screen when there's a menu available, really poor interface design choice to have to hit the menu button randomly to see if any menus are there.

With new ICS developed devices, most don't include touch buttons... The Nexus for example (using on screen buttons) only shows a menu button when a menu is available...
Cheers.
ALSO- I also noticed what appears to be constant "spurts" of Wifi data usage as well (at least according to my Wifi status bar indicator)... It doesn't seem to affect my Mobile Data, and every data monitoring App (including stock ICS data monitoring) doesn't show the culprit, which leads me to believe that we may be dealing with a system app that is accessing data in the background almost constantly... But only on Wifi. Maybe a location service, or something to do with Syncing? I say system because not even stock Data Monitoring is recognizing an app using data...
Another reason I say this is because I pointlessly wiped my device and started over due to this... "bug"... Only to find that running stock CM9 (with no installed apps) my Wifi indicator still led me to believe my device as downloading spurts of data constantly.
I haven't been able to narrow it down, and am hoping that the issue is fixed in a future software update. - But it is more than likely not an app, just an ICS/CM9 bug.
UPDATE- Just checked a Samsung Epic 4G running CM9 and the bug isn't there... So, it's something specifically within our device and ICS... Again, maybe a System app or Kernel bug...

List of Bugs

I feel like a bug list that was easily accessible and organized woud have made it a little easier for me to make a decision in regard to a rom.
I recently just flashed sense 4.0, and even though I though I knew all there is to know about flashing, unlocking, wiping .... I still ran into an issue I never ran into before. Now many thanks later to some members here on the community, I managed to finally go back to my nandroid restore.
Bottom Line: I wish there was a simple bug list thread with current roms for ppl to see what they are about to get into and whether its worth it or not.
My problems are: 1-I dont want the developer to think for one second that their efforts are not HIGHLY appreciated
2- I didnt think it was valuable to start a thread over it.
But against my better judgment; I went ahead and made one anyway.
These are the bugs I found in: Newts OnE XxX RC 2.1 *LIVE!!!* (Sense 4 ICS 4.0.3) 4/17/2012
Aside from the developers statement " pic messages causes sim to unmount rebooting will fix it (wip)
animations need to be turned off in developer settings (need kernel source to fix)"
Here is my own bug list :
1- Rotation is very lagy with multiple crashes. This was imp to me since I always use navigation and I keep switching back and forth between both modes. I had to constantly wait for my phone to unfreeze and press somewhere on the screen to help unlock the freeze.
2-Launcher ( rosie) had random lock ups and freeze ups. Lots of noticeable hot reboots.
3-brightness is very laggy. SOmetimes it just dimmed in day light , forcing me to go indoors to see how to get back to full brightness.
4- When I attempted to restore, here is what happened : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610566
========================================
Bug list for Clean rom DE 1.2 (ics rom ):
1- wifi tether : when I enable security , I lose connection after 10-15 mins of activity
2- Phone is a hot potato! I hit high temps constantly
3- All cpu programs fail to keep settings intact for long periods of time. Putting the governor on conservative helps a bit, but I still find my cpu with min and max speeds set to 1.5 ghz without me doing it
4- go launcher is seriously laggy on all ics roms
5-very hi-def videos are not as smooth as they were on gb roms.
Well the roms are based on a leaked rom so bugs would be expected.
ya you can't expect anything less then a few bugs here and there but they'll also get worked out in the end or most of them

Having issues with Freezing/so slow almost unresponsive

Hello guys,
To get right to it, everything was fine when I was on MIUI 2.5.18 but when I updated to 2.6.1 the issue started happening. I will try to explain the issue to the best of my ability.
About 4-5 times a day my phone will just out of no where become ungodly slow as in it takes the phone ~45 seconds to recognize a touch on the screen or push of a button. So when this starts I have to reboot, and normally I have to Hard Reboot (hold power till GT-i9100 screen appears). I was running Neak at the time so I switched to Siyah and it as still an issue, I also updated to 2.6.8 but that did not help either. Last night, I changed to AOKP thinking it may be a ROM issue and even on the stock Kernel I still have the issue...
At this point I believe it may be a phone issue. Has anyone had something like this happen? How did you fix it if so? Should I attempt a flash back to Stock and run that for a while and see how it goes?
I will try and get a video today if my room mate comes home.
Thanks in advance!

I had the random slowdown issues with NEAK - but never had that on CM9 or Siyah kernels and not on ktoonsez's MIUI kernel as well.
Basic stuff - did you do a complete wipe - cache, dalvik cache, format /system and ran Jivy's kernel cleaning script just to be sure?
Does it happen during a certain activity e.g. opening a certain app or anything else? Do you have any memory management apps installed?
May need to try the cleaner script but yes complete wipe with both cache's and system when I went to AOKP
and no its totally random just when ever it feels like it. As far as memory management I went through the agonizing long steps when it was slow and only about 500mb of memory was being used and only on occasion does it go over 600mb
What are some good memory management programs?
There are so many variables I would say flash back to.stock completely, (wipe first obviously) then see if problem persists. If it does then u know its a hardware issue.

i had a similiar problem on my captivate after installing a eurokrank rom. i found that if u have the govenor set to powersaver it made my phone really slow/ laggy. once i changed it to ondemand or performance it picked right back up. maybe tinker with that and see if it maybe clears it up a bit
Cleaner script seemed to work! Never thought I would ever have to use it but oh well.
It has not happened all weekend, so we will see how it goes the rest of the week!
Thanks again guys!!!

official Z7mini 5.0 beta bugs

Hi,
as some people may not be sure before switching to the beta version released by nubia, it may be a good idea to list the issues that we found with this rom
here are mine (I only use one sim card)
1: UI is slow and even more slow with full brightness (installing another launcher could help)
2: the notification switchs (data) will be ON whereas data is off . Plain mode also turn off data but the switch stay on
3: bluetooth audio is crappy... there are like sound hole every 5 seconds... can't use it correcly in my car
beside that, it did not tell the car what music is playing (there was no issue on CM12 and Mokee 5)
4: once the new system is installed, you can't reinstall directly install your previous backups as the partition is now different..
new CM12/mokee will be released soon to fix this. In the worst case you can still reinstall kitkat with the nubia update tool

I've tried to duplicate the problem in number 1, but have not had problems. I've also read (don't remember where now) on a couple of the Chinese bbs that this seems common. Some people really think the new UI is slow and others do not have problems. I actually think it runs pretty smoothly.
I agree with number 2. Additionally, even though I have vibrate turned off, the phone always vibrates. Unless I have the phone on silent, then there is no vibrating and no sound. I've tried to have vibrate for silent only and it does not work.
I don't use bluetooth, so I cannot confirm number 3.
I partially disagree with point 4 because you can get much of what you had back previously if you used something like Titanium Backup. As I stated in one of my previous posts, I used Titanium backup to backup all apps and data. After that, I copied the folder to my computer. After installing the Nubia beta update, I transferred the folder back to the phone and restored everything without any problems. On the other hand, number 4 is correct. You cannot go back and reinstall a previous TWRP or CWM backup because of the unified storage. In my opinion, this has nothing to do with Nubia as this applies to any phone that upgrades from 4.4 to 5.0/5.1. If a rom says that it is Android L, but does not use unified storage, it is still technically a modified version of 4.4.
A couple of additional points that I don't like:
Cannot modify the actions of the buttons
No theme engine for further UI modifications
No clock widget (I know it's minor, but many people are complaining about this on the Chinese bbs too.)
One thing that is nice is that I had issues with my battery overheating frequently and since I have updated this has not happened at all. Maybe it's just me, but I'm kind of an app junkie. I'm always trying new apps; installing them, uninstalling them and so on. This process seems to be much quicker now. Additionally, I think that the signal has improved. I now have mobile reception in several areas where it was a dead zone previously.
thank you for your long feedback
in fact i prefer using cwm or twrp backups as i change the entire rom, it may be that some settings are not located at the same place so using a tool like titanium that run on the rom itself may not find all settings (but maybe they improved it since i first tried)
Concerning the UI slownes, I used Mokee and Cm12 on this phone and the feeling was a lot smoother
other people confirmed this. Try sliding from one desktop to an other with brightness level at minimum and retry it with maximum brightness you'll notice a visible difference
concerning the existing CM12/Mokee 5 roms, these are indeed Android5. But maybe they didn't change the storage to be 100% compatible with existing nubia partition
oh i also forgot, like in previous nubia rom, the UI has no notification access menu... I don't understand why
this is particulary useful if another device needs to read the notifications like a watch or a band... (but you can access it by installing 3rd party tools)
i'm on Cuocu92's modified Android 5 (he added some stuff like multilang, removed some useless apps and added google apps)
but I will switch back to Mokee or Cm12 as soon as they release a working version... the bluetooth and notification switch issue are two point that force me to switch
I do agree that Mokee and CM12 were a bit smoother. However, even when I change brightness from minimum to maximum I don't seem to notice any drastic change in smoothness. Maybe it's the launcher that you use like we talked about in the other thread. I agree with you on the notification access menu, that's a pain in the a$$. Interesting about the CM12/Mokee; I've read several places that state otherwise, so I'm not sure what to believe. I also agree, I too will switch back to Mokee or CM12. The FIUI rom has also been having some really nice improvements and I may try that if they switch to 5.0. For me the notification, the button customization, and the themes make me want to switch back.
Have to agree that the UI on 5.0 is pretty laggy even when using Nova launcher which is usually butter smooth their is major frame drops. And it especially gets laggy when brightness adjusts its self if set on auto.
Also at some point the home button stopped working for some unknown reason. I had to use the back button to exit apps. I don't know why some guys say that they don't have a theme engine. I have one on my ROM.
All in all I would not recommend someone using this ROM as a daily driver. Stick to 4.4 or any of the CM12, CM12.1 or Mokee versions.
I happen to have 2 Z7 minis with me and they both had the exact same bugs. I had to revert back to CM12.
i went to new CM12.1
but for people who need GPS => CM12.1 has a broken GPS, no signal, not even one satelite got detecte. Even outside with a clear view. Whereas official nubia can fix whitin 10 seconds inside ...

I agree now and finally see what people are talking about. Certain apps have really slowed down. It's apps that I don't use very often, but it's getting to be annoying. Going to give the new CM12 a try.

Can anyone help me? I was trying to flash the new CM12.1 using TWRP and in the middle of it the phone went black. Now I can't turn it back on, can't do anything. Ideas anyone? This sucks. Fortunately, I just did a backup of everything, but now the phone won't even power up. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Yes, I had already upgraded to the official nubia beta.
Edit: The phone still won't turn on, whether it's plugged in or not. However, when I plug it into the computer I can see 5 different partitions of various odd sizes with different aspects of the phone software visible.
Edit 2: So I did a hard reset and was able to get back to TWRP. Next I tried wipe data, cache, dalvik and it did the usual trying to format partitions and it kept failing, saying it couldn't access data. I tried flashing CM12.1 and it gave me the same error, although it said it installed successfully. I also flashed gapps. Now I'm waiting for it to boot up.

I've been on CM12.1 for almost 24 hours now and have not had this problem. GPS was off by default when I installed it and I had to enable it. I've used G-maps and a couple of other apps that need GPS and all of them locked on within a few seconds.

did you tried with gps device only settings ?
because maps use wifi and network localisation to have a position even when gps is not turned on
this really makes me crazy...
I installed gps test and it stay a "no fix"
whereas when i restore my nubia 5.0 OS and tried gps test it fix directly
restoring back the CM12.1 got again no fix :/

You are correct. I had not tried device only - it does not work. This is frustrating. Off to the Chinese forums to see what they say....
Hey guys I'm using the official v3.01 and I have so many bugs and crashes. Worst of all it crashes when I have an incoming call and sometimes the screen goes dark when I get a call and I can't swipe and answer the phone. Is there anyway to go back to KitKat 4.4.4? Can anyone explain the steps?
