Hello !
I noticed some annoying issue on my SGS2 (XXKI4 stock not rooted) with custom launchers (tried Go Launcher EX, ADW Launcher, ADW Launcher EX, Launcher Pro). Desktop switching and application drawer animations are noticeably stuttering (Go Launcher EX was the worst) - it's very annoying since TouchWiz animations are perfectly smooth. This issue makes custom launchers almost unuseable for me. I was thinking that this is launcher's issue but yesterday installed Go Launcher EX on my friend's HTC HD2 (Hyperdroid CM7) and it runs much smoother than on my SGS2 (almost like my touchwiz). My other friend which also has SGS2 noticed same issue and like me returned to TouchWiz. Is there any way to improve animations quality ? I've tried adjusting animation delays in Go Launcher EX and ADW Launcher EX - little improvement but not perfect. Any help appreciated.
Regards
Slig

Recently ADW Launcher EX has been behaving very laggishly when scrolling thru home pages. However, the app drawer is smooth as butter
Anyone experienced this lag before and solved it? I reverted to Touchwiz interface and it was buttery smooth, so I don't think it's a firmware issue
I'm using Desktop visualizer on top of ADW, FYI..
The only way you can get rid of lag is by uninstalling ADW launcher, seriously.
Which launcher drains the most battery? I really like Launcher PRO but the App Drawer is forcing me to go to a different launcher. How's ADW launcher? Thanks!
A Launcher in and of itself isn't going to make a HUGE difference.
The Launchers that I've used in order of least (generally) to most battery consumption:
Gingerbread Launcher
Zeam
Nemus
Launcher Pro
ADW
Go Launcher
Regina (okay this one will likely result in a noticeable difference)
You can basically pick any of those and won't notice a deal breaking amount of battery use, with the exception of Regina. I'll be forked if I can remember all the other Launchers I've tried/have as well; 90% of the time it's Go Launcher for me.
Hey, I flashed the ICS rom and I'm missing my old MIUI launcher. I really love that launcher because of it's simplicity and speed. Not beacause that I don't like app drawers but I don't like widgets and then the whole desktop is empty. So I prefer iPhone like launchers. Is there any launcher like this ? Thanks.
Has anyone else noticed the stock launcher gets very slow/laggy when there are a lot of icons on the homescreens?
Try this: Fill one of the home screens completely with shortcuts to various apps, after each app try sliding between screens by dragging your finger across the screen, or try moving the icons around. after about 5 or 6 i find it to get slow, and after completing an entire row the lag is very noticeable.
Put all those icons in a folder and its back to normal speed. Anyone else notice this? are there any fixes for this?
Try apex launcher or nova launcher, adw ex, go launcher hd, go launcher ex, trebuchet launcher.
Stock launcher works well for me. I have Widgets and tons of icons n folders. No lag at all swiping screens and no lag at all with app launcher.
i have no problem with the app launcher just the homescreens have lag when i have too many icons.
You say with the stock launcher you have no lag? what version are you running and how many icons do you have on various different screens?
I'm putting this out there to help anyone else searching around for better performing apps. I'm running nobe1976's Smooth Bean and Novus Launcher is minimal, smooth and fast, just how I like it.
I meant Nemus Launcher
I'm more partial to Apex Launcher and Holo Launcher HD. They may not be as light as some other launchers, but I like the amount of options and customization they offer. Nova Launcher is good, too, but it makes you pay for the pro version to get the same options that Apex and Holo have for free.
Holo launcher
I have an issue with holo launcher, which does not show me the applications tab at the top right of the screen did you guys have the same issue ? Which DPI you guys use for your screen ?
Thanks
I use Apex on Smoother Bean v 1.5 (released by nobe1976 on 5-Jan-2013)
