Volume keeps lowering on my phone, not the actual volume setting (its maxed on all sliders)
But in winamp playing my music its gotten lower, (not as loud as my friends, almost inaudible at work)
Ringtones are LOUD as normal, but "Hearing" and "Being Heard" during a phone call, even on speaker is SO LOW compared to a couple weeks ago.
I've had:
Stock +Root (by entropy) - currently using
MIUI-1.11.9 (galnet) - starting not working, had to remove
Lite'ning Rom v6.1 (Cozmoz?) - had issues, had to remove
- I'm using Entropy DD 12/12/2011 (NON-exp)
- I'm also using "Crysis battery gauge"

Bump. Was this answered elsewhere? I seem OK on stock from now (from lite 'ning) but it varies between hearing and not able.
Sometimes speaker is loud then dims real bad making conversation suffer . Gets worse without speaker on

Hey all,
Can someone with a GSIII use a sound level (or decibel) program and let me know if the microphone is capped at a certain decibel level?
I have the Captivate (AT&T Galaxy I) and its capped at 82-83 db. I run sound, and it would be real helpful if the microphone didn't max out, or at least maxed out around 100 db's.
Can someone download a free db meter from the app store and just slowly turn up their stereo to tell me how many db's this is capped at (if its capped at all)?
Hey there Its capped at 89Db by the looks of things I use a handdryer hitting the mic port and putting it next to a speaker all of them capped at 89.
Heres a picture of it:

Well, that's a shame. I was really hoping this one was different, at least its a higher cap.
Maybe its a software cap that can be removed or adjusted. I will have to research.
Well I used sound meter lite im not sure what ones the best but yeah if rooted you will be able to increase it im sure.
Finally swapped back to Android yesterday and bought the S3. After playing with it for a bit I noticed a very loud creak on the back of the phone where the volume rocker is. Took off the back plate and it's actually the phone making this noise when I press in the area highlighted with or without the back plate on. I took it back to Verizon and the associate there pulled out another phone to show it was normal and just wanted to see how true this was. Searched around and couldn't find much on here so sorry if this has been asked. Here's a picture to show the area in question.

Creaking? I think your phone was built on top of an ancient burial ground.....

Same thing on mine...not a big deal but I notice it, it's only volume up for me.
I don't have any creaking there, but there is definitely some form of structural weakness in the area that you circled in your image, OP.
The speaker volume on music is loud, very loud. But not speaker when I talk by phone.
Is there any way around this issue or it just mine?
this is my problem !!!

There is no best sound.
It depends on the headphone and of the listener taste.
First thing to do: playing with the equalizer and bass booster. Fine tuning an equalizer is not a so easy task...
If you are rooted, try viper audio. I have installed on .314 and rooted and it's pretty sweet.
I tried viper audio a few times on different phones and those few times it sounded like crap to me. I know it shouldn't, as many people love it but I just can't get it working right apparently. Always installed correctly so idk.
Try downloading Beats Audio installer.

My friend got a samsung s3 9300 and his mic for "phone calls" is not working. But, we can record voice which means there is another mic (next to speaker )
Is there a way to activate second mic (which used for voice record) as main ?
Kind Regards.

Firstly, make sure the hole isn't clogged and nothing at all is stuck in there.
If you are running a stock firmware you can try flashing the firmware again to see if that solves anything.
If you are using a custom rom you might want to flash a stock firmware and test the mic again. Some custom kernels can cause the mic and earpiece to stop working as they should.
If a fresh stock firmware doesn't solve it then you would have to have the mic replaced as there is no way to switch them with software. Even if you could they are directional microphones, which means they only pick up sound from the direction they're facing. Your voice will be too feint in calls, especially outdoors.
Beamed in by telepathy.
