app2sd? Try this...
Code:
Note: By default, your application will be installed on the internal storage and cannot be installed on the external storage unless the developer defines this attribute to be either "auto" or "preferExternal".
Install ALL apps to SD
However, it is possibly to force everything to be installed on external SD. I think this is the ONLY way you can do it, and then you have to move anything back to internal memory (such as widgets) which need to be there.
Using adb.exe (this is part of the android developer kit, but is also part of r5-desire-root (which you used to root your phone), available here: http://android.modaco.com/content/ht...-1-21-support/
adb will be called adb-windows adb-mac or adb-linux, depending on your os.
1. Install the ROM
2. Reboot the phone
3. Open up a cmd/bash prompt, somewhere you have access to adb
3b. Open terminal app
4. run: adb-<youros> shell pm setInstallLocation 2
4b. type pm setInstallLocation 2
To anyone who types "adb-<youros>"... you shouldn't be here!
This will force all apps to be installed to SD
Other options are:
adb-<youros> shell pm setInstallLocation 0
- This causes apps to be installed to their preferred location. For 99.9% of current apps, this will be internal memory, and it won't be possible to move them.
adb-<youros> shell pm setInstallLocation 1
- This causes ALL apps to be installed to internal memory. For 99.9% of current apps it won't be possible to move them.
MAKE SURE YOU MOVE YOUR WIDGETS TO INTERNAL MEMORY, OR THEY WILL DISAPPEAR
Any chance for dark or grey taskbar , instead of white ? considering all those screen burn in reports.
and a battery percentage... if possible.
Thanks evil
This is now my new mainrom Basicly cuz u got the IR kernel (720p hack)
Re: [ROM & Kernel] eViL n-One-sh0t "Froyo" [6/9/10]
No, this does not have 720p. I will check IR's git to see if he's got it tho.

I am aware of that, but charnsingh_online would release it for FroYo users that are using IR's kernels later today
This is really fast....
Evil... you have made some of the best Roms ive used in a while...
The grey taskbar would be awesome though. White burns my retinas. lol
i loved your desire roms so this should be awesome for my new nexus! but one problem, i just can't stand adw launcher, would much rather use launcher pro. is there an easy way to switch adw for launcher pro and resign the rom?

You'll need to replace the statusbar from framework.res.apk with the one you want, but black is not recommended.

Just download load it from the market and press home, then use the default checkbox and press the launcher you want.
well yeah i know i can just take it from the market but i have always been under the impression that it is better to have the launcher as a system app?
Well, you could download the app then, use Astro or Root explorer to back it up. Copy it to you computer, make it into an update.zip and flash it to your /system partition.
Thanks for another great ROM.
Just installed it and shall test it for some time.
Hope its as fast -or better- than your NXSOne ROM.
pretty, thanks for sharing
how about the App2SD in your version?
Please include in the description on the first page if the ROM has raido or not. Also please include two versions of the ROMs if possible:
1. With Radio
2. Without Radio
Thanks for sharing your hardwork!
Nice job with this, super fast. Would love to see A2SD implemented
Agreed about the with or without radio. Also, is there ANY way to include the stock keyboard? I absolutely love the default keyboard.

Alternative LG Launcher themed for Evil Fascination
Changelog:
HTML:
Do not follow instructions or flash items in the changelog.
Changes:
Evil Fascination v3.5.1 Changelog 5/05/11
Updated to Sbrissens 5/5 TSM settings 2.0 -Sbrissen has fixed 4tab issues and added some cool new features (You can view the changelog on Sbrissens mod page)
In the extras in TSM settings the disable/enable launcher2 rotation is not currently working at this time [COLOR="Red"]*(5/6)-Download new launcher2 below for this feature to work[/COLOR]
Themed mms app to match attachment icons
Fixed sound recording attachments in mms - Added in AOSP sound recorder
Created a separate zip for a rotating launcher2 that I kanged from the Kangbang rom and themed to match EF
If you are currently on 3.5.0 you can flash just the 3.5.1 patch or you can start fresh with the full 3.5.1 package.
REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE FONT COLOR IN THE STATUS BAR SETTINGS WITHIN TSM PARTS!! THE CLOCK FONT IS BLACK MAKING IT BLACK ON BLACK!!
When setting up status bar there will be a big black spot where the clock should be. This is due to the clock font being black by default. Change this in the TSM settings. Just change the font color to white and reboot. I have a screenshot to how I have the status bar icons setup. There is a slight lag when changing status bar icons. The charging icon sometimes will not go away if you are plugged in while hiding it in the settings. Try to toggle it on and off in the settings when not plugged in.
5/4 - v3.5.0
Updated framework to Sbrissens latest 5/03 framework
Updated to Sbrissens latest 7 lockscreens with MIUI (Not all is functional with MIUI)
Cleaned up more images
Alternative launcher available (a little choppy but pretty nice)
New pulldown icons (I believe they are chopper's)
Themed launcher more and added some wallpapers
Red market from ante.00 slightly themed to remove the red buttons and headers
I have made the darker look default now.
Some new status bar icons and misc icons throughout the framework.
I am sure that I am forgetting something but here you go! Enjoy!!
For anyone that is having issues with the 4-tab lock or the status bar icons flash this patch in CWM. There is a downside to this though. It will remove the miui lockscreen.
http://www.mediafire.com/?bzko991n4xzvk2b
This is not a required patch, but for those who would like the 4 tab mapping to function and/or having issues with hiding the charging icon. You have to assign an app the the TSM tab otherwise it will force close and hot reboot.
If you are also experiencing anything odd or strange (such as extremely slow list scrolling) please flash this patch as well.

v3.2 - edify test
So who would like to have a little fun? I got bored at work today and decided to try something new. I have taken the existing rom, rebuilt it, zip aligned everything, cleaned up some files and is ready for some testing if anyone is up to the challenge. I highly recommend that people new to flashing read up before doing this.
ONLY FLASH THIS IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE KNOWING THAT YOU MAY NEED TO ODIN BACK IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS. THIS IS A TEST! NON TESTERS USE VERSION 3.1!
Steps:
Ensure that you have a froyo touchwiz kernel installed ahead of time as a kernel is not supplied with this rom.
If you are not on the EC01 radio please flash through Odin before or after the install
Install Orange clockwork which is only edify compatible - some themes and zips are not yet setup for this
Boot into Orange recovery
Wipe Data
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
(Repeat wipes)
"Install from zip" - Evil_Fascination_v3.2.zip
Reboot phone
Cross fingers
Only people who are comfortable testing please try.

Changelog v3.1:
I have not had any issues flashing this after a clean wipe but some people might have to odin back. If you already have the EC01 radio you do not need to flash the radio. If you do not have the radio flash the radio in Odin.

I wasnt going to theme anything but it started out with me just wanting to clean it up some more and once again got out of control. So I decided to give the rom/theme a name that matches. if you already have the ec01 radio, there would be no point in pushing it again

Wiped/Cleared/Delvik'd then flashed. I'm looking at my app drawer and there's no Android Market in there. Did I do something wrong? Its in your screenshots, so it must be in there somewhere!

Probably answering my own question here, but do we need to use the same procedure as is listed for Adry's release? Going back to EB01 and flashing this over it? If I remember correctly, the first EC01 build was not a "complete" ROM, and needed to be loaded on top of another.

Try reflashing it again without wiping.

Muji you read my mind. I am still on EC10 and didnt know when reading if i would have to follow directions for EC01 thru odin or just flash this thru cwm
I had already followed the procedures from Adry to get to EC01. Today I flashed this just the CWM just like any other ROM.
So in my experience, if you are on EC01 just flash like a rom.
If you are not on EC01, convert to EC01 first then flash this rom in CWM.
Sincerely,
Brent

You mean flash Adryn's EC01 ROM first, and then this one on top of it? Or is it OK to just flash the EC01 radio through Odin and then this through CWM?

This is Adryns rom just debloated. You will be flashing the same thing twice if you flash adryns first.
Why is a rom in themes and apps.

GEEWIZ 2.9.2 SCH-I500 EH03 GINGERBREAD ROM/KERNEL/RECOVERY
RETIRED -- GEEWIZ 2.9.2 IS THE FINAL RELEASE OF GEEWIZ GINGERBREAD
Thank you all so much for your support over the past couple years with both this and the original GeeWiz Froyo project. It's been my pleasure to share it with you, and I invite anyone still keeping their Fascinate around to have a look at my newer projects listed below, as well as "GeeWiz Media" (A Wifi-only version for deactivated devices), which is also available here at XDA Developers. When I finally give up on this device and move on, I hope to be able to find a new niche where I can continue to contribute something to the XDA community... --djp952
OTHER AVAILABLE GEEWIZ VERSIONS:
GeeWiz 4 - AOSP Jelly Bean 4.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088224
GeeWiz 2.9.2 is the Gingerbread version of GeeWiz based on the EH03 Verizon Fascinate ROM and Kernel. The goal of GeeWiz is to provide a clean and stable environment for the Verizon Fascinate Galaxy S device. GeeWiz doesn't provide a lot of bells and whistles, nor does it provide all the latest and greatest tweaks and enhancements developed by the community. What it does provide is my particular vision of the way Samsung and Verizon should have delivered this device to us.
I recommend you flash your device back to stock EH03 before installing this ROM/Kernel/Recovery. None of the components have been tested on a device that has been modified far from stock. If you need EH03, please refer to nitsuj17's post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349895)
Installing this ROM/Kernel/Recovery or any other provided component(s) will void your device's warranty, and I cannot be held responsible for any damages of any kind (including data loss) that are incurred either directly or indirectly by these packages and components. What you do to your device is ultimately your problem!

CREDITS
At this point, it would be almost silly to try and list out all the individuals that have helped me along the way or posted their work for public consumption and reference. I try my best to give credit in the release notes and version history, but I've almost certainly omitted important people. I've pulled the named credits and instead will go with a very general thank you to all the developers, testers and end users that I've interacted with during this project. I wouldn't have gotten very far without everyone's assistance and feedback.
ANIMATION CHOOSER SERVICE
The GeeWiz Kernel has a custom service called Animation Chooser that decides at boot time whether to show you the stock Samsung animation or a custom boot animation
- If a custom boot animation zip is located at /system/media/sanim.zip, that will override the stock Samsung animation
- If neither a custom boot animation nor the stock Samsung animation is found, it will default to a basic "ANDROID" boot animation
- This service is currently unique to the GeeWiz Kernel, please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about it and how it works

Background
GeeWiz Recovery is the project I started working on back in the day before trying to get into ROMs at all. I wanted to learn some of the ins and outs of Android/Linux development, but am also one of those annoying "non-Java" guys. Playing around with Kernels and ultimately a Recovery system was a much more comfortable fit for me.
Like all things I seem to try to do, it doesn't have extreme ambitions for cool new things never seen before, it's just supposed to do what it claims to do and do those things well. When compared with something like ClockworkMod, for example, it is a rather limited toolset. That said, I think it also can suit the needs of most folks that are just looking for a tool that will allow them to install updates, create and restore volume backups, properly wipe their devices, or convert from the RFS filesystem to EXT4 (so far anyway!)
GeeWiz Recovery is based on the Android AOSP 2.3.5 Recovery code and is not a derivative work of any other recovery. Many features are undeniably common, and I would be lying if I claimed I didn't need to look at projects like ClockworkMOD for assistance on more than one occasion. GeeWiz recovery is specifically written for the STOCK Samsung SCH-I500 (Fascinate/Mesmerize) device and cannot be properly used on any other devices without modifications. This tool also cannot be properly used on SCH-I500 devices that have been converted to "MTD" (CyangoenMOD, MIUI, etc).

Wipe all user Data (Factory Reset) - Executes a Factory Reset operation. All user data not on the SDCARD will be deleted, and all data volumes will be formatted. This option will reformat data volumes with either RFS or EXT4, depending on what file system is already in place. To convert file systems, please see MANAGE VOLUMES MENU below.
MANAGE VOLUMES MENU
Mount Volumes - Allows you to specifically mount a device volume by name. This operation is not required for other Recovery operations, they will automatically mount or unmount volumes as needed

TOOLS MENU
Restart ADBD Service - Restarts the Android Debug Bridge (ADBD) service. Select this option if you are having difficulty connecting to the device through ADB while Recovery is running
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> BACKUP/RESTORE <<
This version of GeeWiz Recovery allows you to back up and restore the individual volumes of the device to the SDCARD, using a handful of different formats. Currently, the destination location of these backups on the SDCARD is fixed as /sdcard/backup/volume and cannot be changed. Future versions of GeeWiz recovery will provide for complete device backup/restore operations.
BACKUP FILE NAMES/FORMATS
When generating a volume backup, you will be prompted to choose from one of four different formats, which are listed below. All backup files will be generated with the filename format of VOLUME-YYYYMMDD[-N].EXT, where VOLUME is the volume name, YYYYMMDD is the current date, -N is an optional unique number used to differentiate between multiple backups made on the same day, and EXT is the default file extension for the selected backup type and compression setting. (Currently compression cannot be disabled)
EXT4 IMAGE [.ximg/.ximg.gz] - This option will generate an EXT4 image of the selected volume. These images can be used to create volume images that can be mounted and manipulated on other Linux systems. The generated image (uncompressed) will be of equal size to the source volume.
EXT4 SPARSE IMAGE [.simg/.szimg] - This option will generate a 'Sparse' EXT4 image of the selected volume. These images are similar to a full EXT4 image, but are only as large as the data on the volume requires. An android tool called simg2img is required to convert these back into a standard EXT4 image before they can be used on other Linux systems. When compression is enabled (.szimg files), a custom tool is required to unpack them into standard EXT4 images; this tool is available upon request, however I did contribute the necessary code changes back to AOSP with the hopes it will someday be included in Android.
RAW DUMP [.img/.img.gz] - This option will create a raw dump image file from the selected volume. If the volume is EXT4, the output is very similar to an uncompressed EXT4 IMAGE. If the volume is RFS, this image becomes an ODIN-compatible dump of the volume.
YAFFS2 IMAGE [.yimg/.yimg.gz] - This option creates a YAFFS2 image file from the selected volume extremely similar to, if not identical to, the backup files made by ClockworkMOD Recovery. These images are used for general-purpose backup and restore needs; they provide the fastest means of backing up and restoring a device volume. GeeWiz Recovery uses this format internally when converting volume file systems to provide the fastest possible conversion.
It is not necessary to know what format was used to generate a backup when it's being restored or if it has been compressed or not. The restore code will automatically determine this, and can successfully restore any format listed above. Backup files generated by other means or recovery systems are not guaranteed to be able to be restored with GeeWiz Recovery.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> INSTALLATION <<
GeeWiz Recovery can either be installed by flashing it directly with ODIN or if you already have an Edify-compatible custom Recovery like ClockworkMod installed you can use that as well. Install it as you would any flash update with these tools, I wouldn't dream of being able to provide better direction than what already exists out here on the Internet for using them.
Download links for GeeWiz Recovery are included as part of the main post above, and will be maintained/updated in that post.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> SOURCE CODE <<
All Source Code for GeeWiz recovery is included as part of my SCH-I500 Gingerbread Kernel GIT. Explanation as to how to compile it or what tools you need to compile are beyond the scope of this post, but please feel free to contact me if you give it a try and run into difficulties. (hint: start with build.sh and see if it works!). Enterprising types that see I also have a Froyo version out there, please be warned it's not up to date and exposes some potentially harmful functionality. This GB version was sanitized a bit.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> REUSE <<
If anyone finds this recovery of value and would like to include it their SCH-I500 ROMs or KERNELs, please feel free to do so. Link back here, include it in your updates, compile your own and change the menu colors to purple, whatever you want to do with it is fine with me. If you want to mention my name, that'd be cool, but is certainly not a requirement of any kind. If I didn't want it to be used, I wouldn't have posted all the source code (so far) to github!!

*phew* finally got something that worked well enough to start sharing I think I might be the first person to source-build an EH09 kernel? If that's accurate, wow. Hope it works OK, I stole more than one thing from the I9000 to get this beastie running.
Anyway, as long as everyone understands it's not of the utmost quality and is bound to have unknown glitches in it, I hope it comes in handy for ya I want to go back to the Froyo GeeWiz for a bit to bring that up to date and make good on some promises I've made, but I'll be back to GB soon!!
Oh, and if anyone can get that stupid Music Player to switch tracks manually without locking up, PLEASE let me know how you did that I'm starting to think I need to bring the Froyo player forward to see if it works in GB.
You mention EC10 modem...Did you mean EC09?
If there is a EC10 modem, can you link it?
Thanks for the hard work DJ
how about the in call volume in this dear ?
regards

What battery meter does this use? It would be awesome if you could use the same sbrissen meter you do in GeeWiz 1.1.

I've tried installing it all sorts of different ways and I keep getting boot loops. Any suggestions?

If you're coming from cm7 you have to re partition your phone in odin with the atlas pit file. Then odin ccampos PWGB 2. 0. Let it fully load, then go on and install this one.
Make sure your download is not corrupt!.
Don't forget to wipe dalvik, cache partition between roms if you're using cwm

Stock for now, there are more important things broken in here - LOL. I'm checking out the EI20 leak to see how much of that I can incorporate to try and fix some of the bad things.
If this ROM ever works right, I will absolutely include a spiffy battery meter of some kind by default for ya

from what i understand ei20 isnt for the mez/showcase...its for some carrier in india and is more or less useless
Thanks again! So far this is super smooth and stable. Way more so than even the latest cm7 builds.

This is a little utility aroma installer created to make it easier to flash things after flashing a new ROM. Only testing for use after flashing Task650's AOKP rom but if you know what you are doing it can be used in a few other situations. Been posting in Task's thread but want to explain things better with some recent changes.
Features:
Backup and Restore: This was an attempt to mimic a CM9 backup/restore feature where you could flash a new rom (that will format system) yet preserve specific things in /system that you want restored after flashing. You can run the aroma installer, select backup, and then quit the installation without doing anything else. Likewise you can run a restore at any time.
Personally I use this for avast anti-theft. You install avast from the market like any other app but then configuring the anti-theft part steps you through a wizard where you end up with a system app in /system/app/com.avast.android.antitheft.apk
After every rom reflash you have to remember to go through the wizard again, inputting in all your settings and one or two more reboots. With the backup/restore feature you can have that apk backed up to your sdcard and then restored after the rom flash. Cerberus anti-theft is another type application that one could backup and restore, etc.
How to use this:
Create this directory and file on your external sdcard: /sdcard/custom_backup/custom_backup_list.txt
in the custom_backup_list.txt file simply put the path of the system app, library, file, etc you want to have backed up and restored so in my antitheft example above I would put
Code:
app/com.avast.android.antitheft.apk
in the file.
When you select backup in the aroma installer it will look in that file and copy anything in there over to /sdcard/custom_backup folder. When you do a restore it will restore all those items.
Kernels:
A bunch of kernels are included in the aroma installer so you can just pick the one you want, makes it easy if you are the type to try a bunch of kernels all the time. Keep in mind all the included kernels are the AOSP/AOKP variant where applicable. The kernels in the JB Edition are:
Kernel from Task650's AOKP Rom
Siyah
Fluxi
Inverted Apps:
There are a bunch of inverted apps included as selectable choices.
The following are the inverted apps in the JB Edition:
Gmail (normal invert and full black)
Google Voice
Google Talk
Contacts
MMS (AOSP or CM10)
Google Play
Google Music
Google Plus
Google Now
Google Reader
Email
Calendar
Calculator
Youtube
Aroma File Manager
The aroma file manager is also included so if you get stuck in recovery or just forgot to do something in your filesystem you have a file manager to go to from within the aroma installer.
Again you never need to install anything when you "flash" the installer. Once in you can bring up menu and quit installation without anything being done at just about any point.

More but so old who cares, it is displayed in full in the installer if you care.
Walkthrough of my Typical usage:
Task650 releases new update. Of course this is the best version ever so one must upgrade immediately.
You download the rom and the lastest version of this installer to your sdcard.
(optional) Flash the installer and run a backup if you have a custom_backup_list.txt file as per above. Exit the installer after the backup.
Flash the rom.
Flash the installer.
Typically now I'll select to wipe caches, pick a kernel, and I select a few inverted apps to install.
If this is after a full wipe, you can select to copy other inverted apps to your sdcard or install other apps that go to /data.
If not after a full wipe they will all remain intact.
Clicking next it will prompt if you want to restore after the install. If you have a valid backup you want to restore select yes, otherwise no.
Next, Finish, device will reboot.

Great Job, MrRob. This is a great little utility and having its own thread now will make it easier to stay updated on its progress. It got buried sometimes in Tasks thread Again, thank you
I never minded if it got buried, figured those who read enough and were in the thread enough would easily find it. I just wanted to explain it better or why things are the way they are within it and a long post in task's thread didn't seem right. I like that thread with the rom talk and the vastly off topic humor to break up the boredom. Talking about an aroma installer would shift the boredom scale too far.
Very nice, had something like this for my previous versions of my rom.
Aroma Installer is a great tool.
Prefect.do you mind updating to the latest the latest fluxi?

planned on it. was hoping after task hit us with build 38. don't like updating for just one thing try to wait for a few to queue.
Is it an Gapps update on the 1.30?
This topic is on my favorites.
THANKS
No, not needed. latest gapps is still 04.29.2012
1.30 added updates for almost all the inverted apps though.
*UPDATED* to 1.31
AesSedai v1.31

Yay you got your own thread. I'll update the FAQ to point here haha

cool can explain things better here and users can find easier.
Hey mrrobinson. Did 1.31 fix the copying inverted apks to /sdcard/invertedapps/? For me 1.30 just gives an error 10 while creating the directory. Tried again after creating directory myself. Did not give error, but does not copy apks
AOKP 'nough said
huh, works for me and i even started without the directory existing.
when the installer is done there is an option to save log.
any way you can send that to me or paste it here?
Gimme an hr and I'll get it for you. Thanks for looking into it!
Edit: My mistake the error 10 persists after creating the folder myself. Just tried to pull the log and it doesn't save. Checked my /emmc/ and there is no downloads folder. Checked /sdcard/downloads and dice there either. On latest task aokp and latest fluxxi. I'll try flashing straight aokp in a bit and try again.
AOKP 'nough said
So if it isn't saving log it can't write to your SD card. Would explain why its erroring. I can put something together you can flash to help troubleshoot
I'm probably not being accurate enough in my explanation. Here is exactly what the installer says.
Prep sdcard for inverted apks
Creating needed folder on sdcard
sdcard already mounted
Creating /sdcard/invertedapps
When install process is completed, Gmail, Google Music, google Reader, Google Plus and YouTube will have their inverted apk file on you sdcard in the inverted apps directory
Simply select them to install, delete the rest
Now exiting...
RETURN STATUS: 10
Installing
The installation wizard has completed! Press next to continue.
Unmounting devices Mounting system Mounting data Extracting inverted apks to your sdcard... Unmounting /data and /system
Finished
Installation Completed
Installer Status: 0
I hope that helps.
Edit: I'm willing to flash anything to troubleshoot.
AOKP 'nough said
well that's all normal actually. its just the return status 10 but nothing failed. what is weird is you said you created the directory but if the directory was there it wouldn't have said it was creating it.
which makes me wonder if something is going on with your mount points.
can you flash build 38, then go in aroma and do normal wipe, flash fluxi kernel.
reboot.
go back into aroma and try the sdcard copy of inverted again.
Im on 38 and 6/5 fluxxi already. Did a full wipe for 38 too. I guess the next step would be an sdcard wipe. Actually I can do that now since I haven't set everything back up yet.
Edit: Okay got 1.31. Copied 1.31 and Task 38 to emmc, turned off phone, pulled sdcard, and rebooted into fluxxi recovery. Data factory reset, cache and dalvik cache, wiped sdcard(said wasn't there) then wiped emmc (no error). Turned off phone inserted sdcard. Rebooted (didn't expect it to boot) and checked that /sdcard/ was wiped with x-plore. Only had android folder. Rebooted, full wiped again, flashed 38 and 1.31 (kernel clean, gapps, fluxxi, nothing else) rebooted twice to set up Google and settle phone. Rebooted to recovery and flashed 1.31 and only tried the copy apks to sdcard. Same result no invertedapps folder in sdcard or emmc.
AOKP 'nough said
In the inverted mms update how do we get back the Smileys on the key board? Its now replaced with the [enter] computer equivalent button

ViperDNA 4.0.0 (April 29)
Updated to Sense6 / Android 4.4.2
M8 1.54.401.5 CL325784 release-keys
Stock Verizon 4.4.2 Kernel (insecure boot.img)
Tweaks Base: ViperONE (m7) 6.1.0
(please note the below tweaks listed are from ViperONE (m8) 1.6.0 and some may be missing from ViperDNA 4.x.x)
1. When is the next update coming?
Please don't ask for eta's. If we feel the need to spoil you with some upcoming features or screenshots thats one thing, but dont ask for timetables. Also, pm-ing me or bothering me on google hangouts asking for updates is NOT cool, so stop it.
2. How do I install the rom?!
ViperDNA install Instructions
Download the the latest ViperDNA full ROM zip from the download section
Place the rom on your internal storage
Confirm the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 of the file on your phone
Reboot to TWRP .6 Beta Recovery (if you don't already have that recovery installed, find it here)
Newer recoveries meant for KK will probably work, I just personally use the above
Backup current ROM if desired
WIPE DATA
Install ROM and select whatever Aroma options you would like
Reboot and Enjoy
3. How do install OTA (Over-The-Air) updates?
Settings - About - Software updates
4. How do I restore my HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings)?
Try long pressing the date in the notification bar (Pressing the date for about 2 seconds will toggle between HEQS, Quick Launch bar and "nothing")
5. How do I make my device look like stock?
To disable some of the tweaks, do the following:
Disable HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings): Long press the date in the notification bar for about 2 seconds to toggle between modes until it's hidden
Disable Weather: Tweaks - Status Bar - Weather - Hide
Disable Header Text (cpu usage, etc.): Tweaks - Status Bar - Header - Information - Hide
Disable VEQS (Vertical Enhanced Quick Settings): Tweaks - Status Bar - Vertical quick settings - Disable
6. I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
Rebooting into Recovery
Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
Try replicating the issue
If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to us.
To capture a logcat: (this assumes you have the Android SDK and ADB setup)
Open the Command Prompt
run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
To capture an FC, use the command adb shell "logcat | grep AndroidRuntime" >c:logcat.txt
Press Control-C to stop logging
Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
Post the link here with the problem being experienced
7. Whats does MD5 mean?
It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.
8. I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that dont clearly state, that they are compatible with our rom. Its almost impossible that a theme for another rom will work properly on ViperDNA unless its a) a kanged rom from another forum or b)another Viper rom with the same base. However even other viper roms from the same base have significant changes sometimes to ensure the base properly functions on the DNA.
9. My question is not listed here, what to do?
Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you cant find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:
10. My media (pictures, music, etc.) is not listed in the Gallery/HTC Music/etc.
Try rescanning your SDCARD by using an app such as Media Scanner
11. What are the correct sizes for custom carrier logo?
Try 100x100
12. Why is my proximity sensor always on?
Auto sleep is on by default, which keeps the sensor light on. If you want to change it, go to settings > display, buttons, gestures > and change screen timeout to anything but auto sleep. It does not cause battery drain if left as is however.
13. Why do we have to use .6 TWRP Beta to flash the rom?
Most recoveries that are being used are not compatible with kitkat, or not fully compatible. In 4.4, google changed how permissions are set via update-script, and older recoveries cannot process this properly. As for 2.7 TWRP? Probably works, but I havent personally tested it.
14. Do VOIP applications work?
Let me know. If they don't I will tinker more with ota parts to get it going
15. The included APN's don't work with my carrier, any advice?
Most seem to work, however as different carriers get reported as not working, and fixes arise they will be posted below
Straight Talk (GSM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50370681&postcount=96
16. Can you port this to the Butterfly (insert dlx variant)?
At this point, no. While the DNA community is shrinking, there are still several thousand root users that justify making roms for; the Butterfly variants have very few (xda) users and imo not worth the effort of blindly supporting. Also there are, by my count, multiple active kangs on foreign forums and their non xda users disgust me.
17. Venom Filemanager force closes after deleting a file.
Go to venom tweaks > misc > other > "allow system broadcasts" and add file explorer to it.
18. How can I overclock this rom or get other kernel features?
The rom will always include either a completely stock (ota) or as close to stock source (ports) kernel. If other modified kernels become available, thats awesome; but the rom will not include it by default.
19. I want to be cool and change the build.prop to something other than viperDNA 4.x.x, can I do that?
No, you absolutely CANNOT DO THIS!!!! Changing the ro.product.version from ViperDNA will result in you bricking your device as our built in kang checks will assume you are trying to kang this rom to make your own project. Don't do it, its super lame to change the rom name anyway.
20. Is there any fix for MMI/USSD Codes?
See this post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52454486&postcount=214
21. What kernels are compatible with this rom? Can we use ones built off of m7 source or DNA source?
While ViperDNA is still a port, it currently uses (for better or worse) the stock 4.4.2/sense 5.5 3.4.10 verizon kernel (with some ramdisk changes). I am personally using iHateWebOS's kernel from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734196 (dna source) and from my use it works just fine. I believe you can use NuK3RN3L from santod040 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616439 (dna source) with success as well. I just haven't gotten around to using it myself yet.
Both Kernels have m7 versions as well, but will probably be less reliable (wifi bug) than their DNA source counterparts.
22. How can I emulate the One Max layout?
For smaller status bar icons : tweaks > statusbar > status bar tweaks > status bar icon size > small
For fonts: settings > display, gestures and buttons > font size > small
For Homescreen: tweaks > prism launcher > home screen > homescreen layout > 5x6
23. How can I change the default lockscreen widget?
You need to enable lockscreen widgets under settings > security and then venom tweaks > lockscreen > remove default widget
next time you lock the screen you will have the option to add any widget (sense or otherwise)

enjoy folks
I know our DNA community is probably the smallest its been since holidays 2012, but I still personally enjoy the phone and won't be upgrading until the summer at the earliest...so this will still be updated for quite some time
Good job on this, everything tested out great so I guess I will be staying on beta for now, appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping viper roms on this device

I have the DNA, LG G2 and M8. I gave away the G2 and kept the DNA just because of ViperRom. . Thanks.

Coming from the EVO 4G LTE and ports were never given consideration unlike here in the DNA forums. We were required to wait for every official release which eventually dwindled. The fact that you guys are always pushing forward to give the DNA the latest and greatest is incredibly commendable. Can't express thanks enough for keeping ViperDNA alive and well.
Thanks so much man! Is this using the new HTC DNA kernel that was just released?

i used to go by the "only official release" policy, but that got old when I was sitting on sense4+ for months with nothing to do

Nits, I'm currently on VZW but sometime next week I will be switching to H2O Wireless (MVNO of ATT). Can I dirty flash the GSM install over the standard Verizon install?
Thanks
Smooth work as always!
is it just me or does the 4g icon stay in the status bar even though the wi-fi is on and connected?
Awesome. Viper 3.x.x gave me a multitouch issue where if I lifted one finger during multitouch every finger would be terminated, maybe it'll be fixed with the new kernel.
Guess no harm done in updating anyway and checking *flashes*
This is awesome nits, thanks so much! I van confirm that mhl is now working and that pesky Skype audio issue is gone!
Now to get rid of the wireless charging nag screen and I'll be a happy guy.
Has anyone had luck removing this? Maybe by using xposed framework?
