[Q] NDT MIUI Ginger 2.3.7 - 3G DATA issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just installed NDT MIUI Ginger 2.3.7 latest and i ran into some issues i would need some help with. I tried searching for what i'm looking for without luck. On the other hand it is possible i don't know how to use the option itself.
Anyway, the issues i face are as such:
- cannot switch from 3G preferred to anything else (2G or 3G only);
when i select either of them, the screen blinks and takes me back to the previous screen
- cannot access internet over 3G eventhough i selected the correct APN or even created a new one according to the settings provided by Vodafone.
If you have any ideas, i would appreciate it.
Thanks.

Do you have the last build (V10)? Try reflashin', i got v10 and i'm currently on H+ rarely drops on 3G

Thanks for the advice. I am on v10. From what i can tell it got fixed on it's own. 3G data works fine and i can switch between 2G and 3G now.
I flashed again clean just to be sure, so far so good. The 2G 3G switch still flickers from time to time but it eventually lets me select what i want.
Thanks again.

Personally, I had this issue the first time i flashed test4. No data without wifi, and voice bars were very laggy. I switched back to my stock rom for a day, and when i returned to play with it that night (reflash from .zip, not restore from backup), no more problems. The initial transition to 4g from 3g seems to take a bit longer than on the stock rom, but once it is up, everything is smooth. Not constructive, I know, but it is a data point.
ok thanks. but which is the link to test 4. i have a feeling i installed the wrong one. can u send me link if u can? thanks
Check the device thread on cm7 pre alpha links are at end. You want the one with a three which is actually the fourth one.
Here is how to get signal.
1. Goto network settings, scroll down to network type, select the cdma/edvo option.
2. Wait until green 3g. If it doesn't pop up repeate step 1
3. Once green, change setting to cdma+lte/auto and hit your screen off button. Don't touch phone for 5 minutes.
I'm not sure turning screen of makes a difference but this is how I've repeatedly done it.
I have found that if you loose 4g you can loose all data. Just repeate above. It seems to work for about 10 hours then a reboot is required.

tonyagee is correct. This worked for me when I originally had your issue.
thanks guys but this doesnt work for me. ive tried it with stock and leaked radio.
I too have CM7 and have issues with data/3g. I'm not in a 4g area so I can't speak for LTE. What I noticed is that if I'm connected to a wifi-network and move out of range. My phone has a hard time getting into 3g and vice versa. If I go from 3g to wifi. Same thing. It appears that this is a bug but I'd like to find the buglist so I can confirm. I have, however, been able to get around this issue by rebooting. A good indicator of data transfer is when the wifi icon or 3g icon is green and in the case of a 3g icon, the arrows are flashing. If they are white, you are connected, but you aren't getting any data.
Not sure if this answers your question but I would try the wififix that Imoseyon made (link is in the CM thread somewhere). I enabled 3g, then rebooted into recovery and flashed the wififix file. Once the phone rebooted, I was able to move between 3g and wifi without issue as long as 3g was enabled first.

[Q] 2.3.4 and still having data connection problems; hardware issue?

Hey there,
I've been experiencing data connection issues very commonly since receiving this phone. I've gone from 1.2.6 to 1.5.7 to 1.8.3 to 2.3.4 and after trying all builds, my data (after using WiFi) is very unstable.
The connection symbol will disappear completely after a while of WiFi and won't turn back on until I go to my access point names and "Edit" (just opening the edit page fixes it) the primary APN. Other symptoms include but probably aren't limited too; data turning to upload only.. the up arrow is lit up but never downloads anything and also constant drop outs while in use.
I know my mobile carrier isn't the most reputable in Australia, but this phone is running on their BRAND NEW (weeks old) 850MHz network, leading me to believe that it's a hardware issue (apparent on both Froyo and Gingerbread too) D:
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

i had the same issue, everytime i would start and app that required data i qould have to sit there and refresh over and over, and it would just time out saying data unavail, even though right before i would open the app, data worked fine, so i flashed the new radio and took out my sim card while doing it, reset apn list to default and made sure my phone was on hspa, now shes working perfectly

[Q] 3g not working until reboot

Hello everyone, i'm asking this because it's the third time i had this issue. I often keep my Data Network Mode deactivated and turn it on only when i need because of my 3g plan (quota, taxes, and also because it's likely to find a WiFi network in the places i usually go).
The problem is, sometimes i turn on 3g (by Phone options menu) and... nothing happens... i need to reboot to make it work again.
The 3G network in my country is quite unstable, but i'm pretty sure that isn't a signal problem because one of the times i was turning on/off the 3G to make it work and i gave up and forgot to turn it off, the next day when i tried again i found it was On but not connected. After a reboot, working again.
Anyone having this issue who found a fix? Could be a problem with the kernel or app?
Edit: I Forgot: CF-ROOT Kernel, KF3

mate i am afraid you have answer already - "The 3G network in my country is quite unstable"
that can clearly produce the bug. Just in the case check your APN settings if they are correct. Settings- wireless and network-mobile networks- access Poin Names - compare the stats there with your network provider and make deep research.
just example i am on vodafone - i found that i was running vodafone live profile in APN and i was loosing conexion and i had troubles loading some pages - after research i found that there is another setup for vodafone as well - different then the live but for vodafone as well. i am using it since then and i am experiencing now the lighting speed of 3g. Just give it a try.
Searching on the internet i found that the configuration of my APN is equal to the recommended.
Backup data and factory reset phone should clear any software problems .
You could try flashing KH3 modem .

Same issue here for both rooted and un-rooted GS2
Retracted - will have to do more testing

[Q] stuck on roaming on cm9

so i flashed to the new cm9 and my roam indicator is on so i check my status and sure enough i am. i have no data and cant find a way to stop the roaming when i wasn't roaming on my previous version. any help would be appreciated
Change the network settings to home only and not automatic. Automatic = forced roaming.
Sent from my MoPho. All typos are the phones fault.
does this still let you roam?
Thank. this fixed my problem and it seems to carry over from rom to rom. At first i could not get any connection on CM9 (joker) on first flash when it had been fine on AOK<sp>. Tried going back to that one plus the turl one and no luck getting of roaming. lashed jokers 3.2 and fixed roaming and all was right in the world. Then I put 4.4 on top of it and seems to work fine now

[Q] Cyanogenmod 11 3g Connectivity Issue

Hey,
Just rooted and flashed CM 11 onto my HTC one and everything is working perfectly besides 3g. The only issue I have is that the 3g isn't working very well, if at all. Sometime I can get it going for a couple of seconds but that's often it. Sometimes it modulates between 3g and h before shutting off.
I checked the APN so I don't think that's the problem. Has anybody else had similar issues? Have any solutions? Do you think I'll just have to wait for the next nightly to come out and patch this over?
Thanks!
Still Nothing
I've tried cycling down to other versions. Most notably stable versions of both 10.2 and 10.1. Even in these stable versions 3g connectivity doesn't work. This leads me to suspect I'm missing a file. I noticed threads elsewhere in which people had to flash special files for the radio? Not sure if this has to with this.
Also something about S-Off. Could really use the help because right now 3g doesn't work in any version of CM.
You're saying you get H often but not 3g? Because that's how it is supposed to work

Nothing
Even when it goes to H it immediately shuts off. Nothing really sticks for more than a couple seconds (3g nor H).

access the phone’s test menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#* From there, tap Phone Information and you just need to change the “Preferred Network Type” and try and force the settings you want.
