I got my 14 year old an evo 3d for Christmas and some beats headphones. What stable, everyday, no lag rom would you recommend with beats audio? Also does it make a difference with the beats audio in the rom? Thanks in advance.

ok i'm just gonna say this for every one. Beats audio is a gimmick. I'm going to make a post later why this is so. but here is one that's nice
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318005
To answer your question does it make difference yes and no.
Yes it does give more bass response, but at a cost it takes out the highs.
Here's an easy fix to get good sounding audio.
Don't use MP3'S They take out some of the upper frequencies of the audio file and it removes alot of the stereo effect. They just don't sound good.
But if you want more bass just get an eq app and boost the bass.

Gimmick? Yes, but it does make a BIG difference for this phone. If you have a kernel with the Rezound drivers, expect a significant difference.
All I have done to the phone is root it. I believe I will need a rom to flash before the kernel? Any suggestions on a rom? Thanks for the info.

ROMs
There's a list of ROMs here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192661
From that list, I've tried Olympus Trinity 3D. It comes with Beats and a few 3D games.

I personally found better results and more audio customizations with DSP Manager.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795233
But I don't have Beats headphones, so I don't know how the sound quality will differ.
If DSP Manager is enough that you don't need Beats, then CleanROM is fast and stable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193369
I personally like Airborne ROM. It's a nightly, so changes are being made often. It's fast, highly customizable, and Sense-less, using Launcher Pro as Home.

Is there a way to have beats with dspmanager on an ics 4.0.3 rom or just beats with any other equalizer?
I don't know, but after owning the Rezound for two days I'm finding Beats Audio overrated. PowerAMP + the right equalizer settings give you the same effect.

Ehhh, they're okay I guess. I bought some MEElectronics M6-BK's for like $20 that sound just as good for me. Beats by Dre is just a brand. Don't get me wrong, they're very decent headphones and earbuds, but you can buy buds or headphones for half the price and get just as good of a sound or better.
So does anyone know how to get dsp or some other equalizer working along with beats like we had on GB?
Forgive me if this a stupid answer, but seeing as beats is fixed in ICS now why not just download the DSP.apk and install it? wound that not work?

That actually doesn't work.
Has anybody else noticed just how much better Sense sounds? I flashed Joelz's CM9 kang and took a drive in my truck. Sense has a lower more responsive bass and overall a more rounded sound. There are entire drum beats I'm not hearing on ICS. I noticed this on the earlier builds too, so it's not specific to this one.
I've been messing around with DSP manager, but I still can't seem to get that sound. Anyone have a good DSP setup they're willing to share?

I have (on the HD2, but I believe the cause my by the same).
It's discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1628041
According to Mike of MeanRom, none of the equalizer apps, including Dsp, work on the Evo 3d Ics leak. Adjusting sound in the app does not change sound tone. I noticed this over my headphones too. I don't have the exact post, but it is in the MeanRom forum.

That must have something to do with it, but the difference is way past just an equalizer. People think it's drivers/libs related.

Hi guys,
Im kinda wondering if somebody can provide the beats audio files for the Xperia S? I had the zip package on my Arc installed with CWM.
Somebody got an easier way to install? The sound compared with an Xperia Arc lacks sound quality. Especially with my incar Bluetooth audio with amplifier i can hear the difference.
Many thanks

As we have no recovery yet. Unzip that zip you have for arc and move the files to the same system folders. Then set permissions RW- , R-- , R-- then reboot the phone. Warning, not sure if anyone has tried with Xperia S yet and not sure it's really worth it. I like the sound from the S clear bass works well

Thats true, the bass is very clear. But with incar audio the bass frequence feels and sounds very high. I will try to put the files but i would rather wait an easier way to root

True, and with the Mega Bass driver very awesome on my headphones to. Well maybe some fine tuning on your car amplifier will do?? I spend hours for an average good sound quality in my car :cheese:

Trust me, Beats Audio is crap and doesn't do much at all.
Try messing around with the equalizer settings in the Music app, and try the Virtual Surround modes too (I prefer 'Studio'), you should be able to customize the sound to your liking.
poweramp
Surely you'd be better off using poweramp? I cant hear much difference between beats and the bass & treble eq on poweramp...

Though the Beats Audio files only was "files"? HTC phones using Beats Audio has Beats chip inside, so how can only installing files make any difference besides that it eq the music?
Beats Audio files that you can install yourself is suppose to work together with the chip.
Or am I totally wrong?
Try out Google Music as your player, very nice EQ in it.

Beats Audio is just an EQ..........
The normal Sensation without the beats chip also can support beats audio with custom roms - more than sufficient proof its just an EQ.
To sum it up, it's an EQ that supposedly makes things sound better, although purists would disagree with it since it's an S-Shaped EQ.
Somebody just provide us the Beats Audio drivers , quick!
The Sony XS has an internal HPF, and an automatic eq for the most ""hard and difficult" frequencies (100-300hz).
The EQ of the player (400-16k hz) is a eq for noobs but it's very good
We don't need the beats audio optimization

True, but it'll still be cool as a way to laugh at those who bought the HTC phones merely for the beats audio and not for hardware. (I'm not saying that all HTC phone buyers are beats fans)

My JBLs, Pioneer 600RMS subwoofer and my JVC carradio NEEDS beats audio!!!
I got my brand new ray yesterday and ive got Rayonium v7 final flashed... love the phone and rom.
Ive noticed though that the 3.5mm output to headphones/speakers is really quite weak - pretty much HALF that of my last phone (nokia 5800.. 3 years strong )
Ive tweaked both the dspmanager settings and the sound enhancements as much as i can and although i get a slightly better sound the actual volume is still quite weak...
Is this the headphone port, the actual headphones or the rom?
and is there a mod/app/fix/tweak to make it louder without distorting the sound?
Sony make excellent audio visual equipment - all my tvs and stereos are sony but so far it seems a bit crap if this is what the mobile phones provide
Any help would be greatly appreciated
iam using poweramp + music volume eq.
Looks not so bad and bass awesome too. For sure not cowon, but can listen.
Right well i just tried poweramp free trial and the sound is definitely louder BUT i dont want to change player... is there not a mod or something i can do to make the standard player on rayonium louder?
170 views and 1 reply? surely someone else has some input?
change rom or wait for the updated version, dsp not working on the current rayonium.
im using rayonium+n7player (fully unlocked) = music heaven!

So I installed the Beats Audio mod of bassini and predator today everything works finde included LeeDroid Tweaks.
But my problem is if I change the sound enhancer to Beats Audio it won't start playing my music.
My ROM is KingCobra 1.5. What could be the problem ?
Use SRS mate. Much better sound quality
Beats is **** IMHO, headphones and software

Have to agree here. Beats is placebo effect and is essentially just an EQ setting.

Indeed, if you set up EQ by yourself you will have better improvements then with beats.
And about headphones, there is much better cups for that price.
But HTC is owner of beats and he need all promotion he can get. If that means put some EQ and promote it as big sound enhancer, then let it be.
For rizzle. Beats sounds like ish, I don't know why ROM developers even include them. It sounds especially horrible over stereo bluetooth.
people....it doesn't matter what your opinions of beats are, you're almost starting to sound like apple haters
what he wants to use is his preference at the end of the day
the guy's asked a question on this ROM regarding his beats EQ not working...either answer his question or "politely" don't bother posting. For all you know after you provide him with the solution he thinks of it as **** anyways so just answer the question.

Yes I'm using v10 and KingCobra doesn't include it so I installed via Aroma installer.
After giving a try to SRS I can say the quality is really better than normal. I just wanted to test Beats.
exactly...at the end of the day you should be the one to decide since its your phone

I feel the exact opposite, I happen to love beats over Bluetooth going to my alpine head unit with jl audio 12 w7, infinity kappa interior speakers 1000 watt jl audio amp, vs any other sound enhancers ie Dolby srs, pop, etc... I cant wait till we get a new kernel with beats to roll on my newts sence 4.0 Rom...

Don't think so on my creative WP-350, actually makes it better.
Today I realised that I had turned on SRS all the time, and sound is very good too.
Anyway, beats is image, not for me, but for my friends when they see phone with 3D AND with beats.
As far as sound enhancers go.....thx and dts are the best ones for me....too bad they aren't on phones yet
