Battery problem?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use desktop charger to charge my battery.
I unplug my battery when it is fully charge.
When I plug it into my phone, the battery status only show 12%.
And the reading will increase gradually for a long time.
I have two batteries, and they are having the same issue.
I don't know it is the issue of battery or the phone.
It is an annoying problem, can anyone answer my question.
Thank You!

Hey,
did u flash a Rom?
Seems to be a Kernel prob, so just flash an other one (f.ex Siyah 2.5.2)
CHEERS

I am using speedmod for my phone kernel,k18 - test 12...
It seems to be the most battery savings,
so I want to stay on this kernel.
Is it a bug for this kernel??

Have you tried deleting battery stats in CW Recovery (assuming your phone is rooted) ? Once you've done this, charge the phone fully whilst turned off & see if that helps.

I have wiped my battery status through the CWM,
but the problem is still here...
So, it is very annoying...
Thank you for your reply

I don't know it is the issue of battery or the phone.
Flash back to stock rom and kernel is the only way to test .
jje

I will try to flash back to stock rom later.
Thank you for helping me.

Wtf ?

Hi guys, My phones working semi ok now .. Just one question
When ever I leave my phone to charge it just chooses when it wants to charge!
It just drains sometimes when on USB or while using the wall charger ...
I know it can't be a USB problem because I can flash Kernels and Stock firmware with ease and no error .. and also I rooted without any hassles .. Any Ideas ? :\
What rom are you using? I had that issue with Wolfs rom. It would be plugged and charging, would reach 100% and stop charging and decrease till around 95% and then charge again to 100%. Its not a big deal really unless it really goes down by a lot. I kept happening but never caused any problems.
I switched to MIUI based rom and now it doesnt happen and battery is much better tbh.
- Captain Scrat
I went from
Stock 2.1 > Wolfbreak > MIUI A1EX > CM7 ..
no like last night It was 100 when I put it on charge by USB .. I put it on my table and just let it charge while I slept and it went to 0 when I woke up.. Even right now I tried with a different charger (Blackberry and Samsung Galaxy Spica Chargers) and they both decreased :\
Ok that's weird... I guess its not a faulty USB... Try to do a battery calibration see if it helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943626&highlight=calibration
Optimize it if you want (optional): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071885&highlight=battery+calibration
If not maybe its just a battery that is dying?
But try to calibrate it first, see how it goes.
I had times when it was all charged, unplugged usb and just under 2 hours it dropped from like 90% to 30%... did calibrations and stuff and it fixed the problem.
- Captain Scrat
I did the wipe battery stats thingy on CWM 5 when I had it on 100% when I went to Cyanogenmod ...
now I'm trying oodie's MIUI ..
This is also my second battery, but not from Sony
Dunno man, try to use you battery (normal use) to 0% and let the phone shut down by it self, do that a couple of times so the battery stats are reset for sure.
I am on Crowds MIUI rom and my battery last for like 13H+ with a very good daily use. And i dont have any random discharges problems. Try it out if you want.
- Captain Scrat
EDIT: btw when you install a new rom its normal that the batt discharges fast, it needs to get "acquainted" with the rom because diff roms have diff tweaks and optimizations.

That is not a problem, it is a feature included on purpose to help extend the battery life. If it is not doing that on MIUI roms then your battery wont last a slong...its a stock feature from SE themselves...

I'm charging it right now , I will reply with my outcome when it reaches 100 and I use that BAttery calibration app ..
It's not even charging ..

Odd battery thing

hello all
i have a question please
my battery is acting odd
if i charge my phone , and then unplug it ... it will still charge by itself a few points.
for example if i remove the charger at 80% and then leave the phone alone it will charge by itself in the next hour to about 84-85
if i charge to full ... it will show 96% ( which i know is normal ) and then charge to 100 by itself
it does not matter which precent i unplug the charger from it will still do this
i tried different kernels and roms , the problem still shows
using the default battery that came with the phone
any ideas please ?
thanks
easy fix, pull the battery without turning off the phone.
correct one, let the phone drain the battery till it shutdowns itself or until you have like 5%
i already tried to let it drain untill 1-5% and then charge it fully but the same thing happens
Have you tried replacing the battery? or it could be something in the rom that thinks its charging but i wont be! I used to have the same problem. I just flashed my original kernal from the insecure one i was using and it just fixed itself, but if youve already done that..
Have you had any other problems regarding the battery? for example a drop in battery life etc?
then pull the battery till it doesnt lower the fuel gauge if that doesnt works then replace the battery may be damaged as iGeoo said

ok let me explain while the device is turned on and in use you pull the battery and sometimes it will turn back on with a lower read of the fuel gauge (think of pulling the battery of a blackberry lol). after that it should start to give better readings.
also battery can be damaged by just heat and over-recharging it (leaving it connected for a long period of time after it reached its 100% of capacity)

Battery Indicator

Hi XDA'ers,
I have a small problem regarding for the battery indicator in the status bar.
When i was charging it i notice for 4hr still the indicator charging so i decided to
install a battery widget, and i saw that in the widget it is indicate full, but in the status bar indicator still charging.
And idea how i can solve this problem?
I'm using ICS 4.0.3 full version.
Maybe widget shows information wrong, try installing an app like setxperia by inteks and try to monitor battery life from it.both battery levels shown by phone settings & setxperia is same on my phone with stock ics
i do it already, actually i check my battery it says that battery is in good condition.
i notice also that when my battery is 5% i will charge it and it will appear in the battery widget that it will full charge within 4hrs and then after 4hours it is correct, but in the status bar still charging...
may be i made a mistake in flashing?
Try charging the phone switched off overnight, it will fully charge then take the case off remove the battery with the charger in wait for it to attempt to boot then disconnect the charge replace the battery and boot the phone when it boots you'll see the battery level has dropped connect the charger and let it finish fully chargeing.
All your readings should now match if not you may want to replace the battery

The problem you have is not a problem....

Thanks for this gregbradley. but this is not exactly my problem. it is in the indicator from the status bar. it indicates always charging continuously even the battery widget indicator is at full.
Are you sure it's indicating charging and not just being plugged in?

yes dude. when i connect the charger you will see the battery indicator moving in the status bar. but in the battery widget is already full. it's kinda weird isn't?
i found the solution! i will tell to everyone shortly i will just make a compile for this so that if someone have also this problem, well maybe this is also their answer.

it all begins in flashing....
Before this happens, im just looking for an full rom of ICS and i found one in NEO V so i use that one, then using the original kernel. after that i root the phone and make some mod. unfortunately i saw this problem which is the battery indicator.
The solution only is the kernel... hahaha!
I dont know exactly why because im not a hacker or programmer something like that. but i use the nightelf without zram. and all are working perfectly. indicators are 100% working and most of all. from 9am-10:30pm my battery is @ 70% without closing wifi and bluethooth....
maybe someone also have this experience so you can try this kernel...
thanks to night-elf for the kernel...

Some guys in russian forums say that if you leave your phone charging for 15 minutes without battery the it'll wipe all the information on the device. Including all the firmware, basebands and kernel. Exactly EVERYTHING, sdcard also, after the procedure you will have a nice piece of plastic. It may give you a chance to reflash your device. Pretty flimsy, but may worth a shot. After deleting everything just flash it through flastool.
I'd reccomend you search the information about this method.
This was long time ago and i solved it with another battery.

[Q] i9100 battery help pls

Thanks for looking.
I am running cm 10.1.3-RC2 with Dorimanx kernel, updated from the packaged kernel.
When i turn my phone off at night and turn back on i have lost approx 30% of the battery life. When i turn it back on, the charge creeps up slightly if i dont use it straight away.
If i leave it on over night i lose maybe 2%
Any ideas other than leaving it on all night!! lol
regards

will give it a go, cheers
it did it with the stock kernel and dorimanx. when looking at the battery graph it is just an immeadiate drop. seems odd as if i leave it on doing nothing it will only lose couple of %.
will fully charge and give it a go. will battery calibration show me as to why the sudden drop?
cheers

You can try reset Fuel gauge chip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262990.
This happends to me sometimes too. (Using slimbean 4.3 stock kernel), especially when I am flashing something new. I do not care about this. Battery level goes to normal after 1-2 charging cycles.(fuel gauge chip recalibrates automatically after some charging cycles)
