[Q] Kernel for PowerWashed GB?

Hey guys, finally gathered the balls to flash my Fascinate a custom ROM today. After a long while of deciding what to go with, i found PowerWashed GB and flashed it with Odin and to my relief it worked and i went on and installed the permission package for it and my APN for Cricket.
Anyways!
I'm looking for a working kernel for my ROM (PowerWashed GB), I've checked out Leankernel but there's a few bugs in it. Can anyone recommend me a good stable ROM that works on PWGB?
Or possibly even better, a good reliable ROM that i can simply flash from where in at now? Please don't recommend Cyanogenmod, unless i can get a detailed guide because when i tried to flash it i got an error and it messed up my display and my keyboard got stuck open, and it was just hell so i re-flashed PWGB and was back to good.

try klin's klassic, i used that one before moving to cm7
how is cm7? I was hoping to use that but I read it wasn't very stable.
also, do you know if there's a workaround to send mms?

CM7 is far from ready for daily use and if you don't get proper backups you will have a hell of a time reverting back. Trust me I know, I'm still resolving some issues.
alright well im going to try out the KlassicRom, thanks for all the input!

lewa is based off CM7 so all the CM7 issues are still there, don't get me wrong it is nice but until deep sleep is fixed the battery life is still miserable (about a day max). Plus the newer CM7 (beta 2+) base is not for amateurs as it quite easy to screw yourself when trying to revert back.
hey OP what version of the player do you have (US or International)?
i have the US version.
Currently using Klassic's ROM and the Terrasilent kernal.

Wait...so you flashed an I9000 kernel and it still booted? Maybe I will try investigating if we could just port kernels from the galaxy s phones.
But anyway..just boot into download mode and reflash one of the custom kernels for the 4.0.

I flashed STeVEs-3.0-EU kernel but it didn't fix my problem!!
I will post video and you can see the problem on my device.
I think a dev should make a sticky to bricks. They are coming up too often now.
Also if it booted, it's not bricked.

But I flash any stock rom or custom rom, even any custom kernel, can't fix my device.
Why would you flash a i9000 kernel on a YP-G1 ? What kernel did you flash, we're going to need that kernel to see what happened!

I downloaded "CF-Root-JP6-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1.zip"from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
The file which I prepared for my i9000,but when I' m going to flash my YP-G1 kernel,I selected the wrong file.
get odin, stock firmware, and flash the stock firmware with odin
I have the same problem since I've flashed a kernel for the Galaxy S.
My Galaxy player has not booted.
I have flashed Steves ROM and since that I have the same problems.
I've found so far no solution.
The flash of the stock firmware did not help.
I have also tested other ROMS.
Did you're player run 2.3 or 2.2 stock, because that would make a difference. If it ran 2.2 then therea you're problem isolated.
Infact I just noticed you said touch button, so are you sure its not US?

Here is the 2.2.1(INTL)stock rom download link : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60441441/G1ZSKC5-REV01-PDA-low-CL976041.tar.zip
The link is from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
Thank you.
I'll try it.
EDIT: Hooray, it worked.
Yes in this case when flashing with odin 2.2.1 rom is better at resolving problems then 2.3.6.

[Fix] for rolling / flickery recovery

Hi Guys!
Here is a bootloader to fix the rolling recovery issue :good:
I would like to credit to whoever uploaded this, but I do not know where I have got it from But it works!
So if you got the rolling screen after installing a new ROM (usually comming from stock) you can flash this bootloader with Odin to fix it.
Bye,
a...
Hi dear friend...
This bootloader works fine for 3.2(HC) but messes things up in ICS...even in 3.2 you must flash a new kernel afterwards(screen flicker solve)...but for ICS the appropriate kernel hasn't come yet...(if you flash the old ICS OC kernel you don't have 3G (or WiFi in some cases))

Forgot to mention, I use it in CM10 JB, did not test it with stock ICS, that's true... With CM10 it works fine on my side, used it several times...
WOW! time for me to give it a try...a new thread including the fix for ICS is likely to come...:good:
it doesn't work on stock ICS.after flashing screenflicker after unlock, after flashing ICS OC kernel still screen flicker, but fixed CWM(who cares now)

My problem was rolling CWM and rolling screen during boot... this is fixed with this bootloader, I never had rolling screen wenn boot was done... sometimes was flickery on login screen, let it sleep a second and wake up again helped for that...

[Q] Trying to roll back to GB kernel. Help needed.

Hi all,
Firstly thanks to all the devs and senior members who ported CM10 mini, and also helped me with all the questions i had. I didnt necessarily have to ask these questions , coz the related threads worked like an FAQ and troubleshooting guide for me.
But now im stuck at a point where i need to ask. After trying CMX mini, though i loved it, i feel i prefer a speedy snappy phone rather than a fully loaded ergo slow phone. So i decided to roll back to GingerDX rom.
The issue im facing is that since ive flashed nAa's JB kernel, i wanna re-flash the nAa GB kernel ( or zombie panic etc). Once i flash any of the older GB kernels ( ive tried a few) the phone gets stuck at the boot screen. I just cannot go into recovery to do a wipe and flash the GingerDX rom.
So my questions are:
Is there any known work around.?
Do i need to roll back to a gb kernel to run Ginger DX or can i stay on JB kernel. Im guessing it shud be GB kernel for a GB rom, but cant find any literature online.
Do i need to do a data wipe before i switch kernels?
Pls help.
Thaks in advance.

yes, do data-wipes, or maybe format the partitions before you flash the gb kernel. GB roms won't work on the JB kernel.

Do a nandroid of your ROM, it will have you working again in about 2 minutes if it doesn't work.

pop the JB kernel back on, I figured that was the obvious thing to do in order to wipe and/or format everything...
