Fascinate CM7 3G connectivity problem - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a samsung galaxy s fascinate. It was recently updated to cm7 version 2.3.7. Worked fine for 2 weeks. Lately the 3G connection has given out. I have tried everything I could think of. Wireless and networks, check if an application was tampering with it, put it in airplane mode, turned data off, rebooted, tried them all. Any help will be appriciated. Thank you.

I had the same issue... what I did was wiped all cache, and factory reset, then flashed the kernel with Glitch v13. no problems so far. runs a lot better than the stock CM7 kernel IMHO. good luck

What modem are you on? i would suggest EH03....Find the MODEM only and you can flash it right with Odin. No need to loose any data

I have only had 2 data drops since early october running cm7 w/ glitchv13 kernel & ec09 modem...eh03 is decent too, try both and see what works better for you.

data issues

I come from the g1 and from what i know about that the radio is what controls data/voice/etc. I see a lot on the vibrant about different modems, are these equivalent to what the g1 radio was?
my concern here is that after switching to eugenes froyo i kept losing a data connection and had to toggle airplane mode which is a known issue with the rom. well i got tired of losing a data connection so i switched to a bionix rom and my data issue is still there but from what ive read about the bionix rom i dont see other people having the issue.
do i just need to try yet another modem file? the one from eugenes rom and the bionix rom differ already as far as i know.

Yes Modem=Radio here. I came from an N1 and I'm use to flashing the "radio" as well. You can flash the JI6 modem which most people say has the best data speeds and connection. If that doesn't work well try the JI2 modem.

hrm oddly enough i searched and found eugenes thread with the odin flashable modem files. i tried them but with the same results. the last one i flashed my rom started acting weird and a reboot didnt fix it. i wiped and reflashed bionix fusion and it seemed to fix the data issues. i dont know why that fixed the data connection as i already tried that modem but i like the results

[Q] I lost my 3g connection after flash SC 2.9

Hey guys!
Sorry for the endless posts. I just flashed superclean 2.9 for froyo and now I have no 3G connection, only wifi. When I pull down the notification bar, it shows Mobile Data is on, but...it's not.
Is there any solution for this issue? I have tried *228 and 2 several times; at first time, it worked for a while, but it disappeared soon.
Just for sure, My original modem was EA28, so I have flashed DL09 when I flash SC, and now I flashed DJ05. Everything works perfect, but still no 3G connection. I'm so frustrated :-( If I go to Verizon guys, then they must be like it's my responsibility. What am I suppose to do?
Thanks!
Others experiencing the same issue have found that activating another phone and then re-activating their fascinate helped restore a data connection. You can try that or if you decide to take it in to verizon just make sure you flash back to a stock unrooted rom and they shouldn't have a problem with.

I'm not sure, but is S.C 2.9 made to run under a modem less than dl09?
yeah but dj05 is also eligible to use SC rom.

why don't you use the eb01 modem?
Had to restore to stock and go to verizon. They couldnt figure it out. I said it just updated and since i had lost data. Replacement came in the next day.

You need the DL09 Modem for SC 2.9. My 3G works fine though, even worked without the DL09 modem, messaging wouldn't work right without the DL09 though. At least that's all I noticed not working properly.
Did you clear data and cache and such before flashing to the SC? Have you tried it again? Still running the stock kernel?
I had the same problem, but I was on stock, no 3G at all, called Verizon, they sent me a replacement at no extra charge. Now my 3G works fine.
I've been having the same issue, but i got it back after turning on&off my debugging & my wifi. it's take a few minutes thou
hope that helps!

Internet not working.

My internet just started going in and out. Either I have 1x or nothing. This just started happening. Never had a problem before.
I'm running bamf sense 3.0. Does anyone know what can be causing it? All day today I had no internet until now. I don't know if there is a setting or if I'm on the wrong radio (Mr2.5) or if this is usual for a 4g phone.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
From what I heard mr2.0 is best for 3G and mr2.5 is best for 4G, but I use mr2.5 because I go in and out of 4G. Honestly, I'd stick with mr2.5, as it is a newer radio they released after mr2.0 was not working too well.
On mr2.5 I had the same issue for a few days, but then I updated my kernel to dream kernel 2.3.0 (a newer version of what's included in the sense 3.0 rom) after doing a wipe and rom reinstall (I'd recommend wiping data, cache, battery data, and dalvik cache 5x each before reinstalling the ROM just to make sure everything is deleted). After that I've had much better reception, although now and then it'll have a few issues.
Best of luck.
Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Never tried to flash a new kernal. I'll go learn and give it a shot.

[Q] GPS causes data connection loss

Bell Atrix running OTA GB. The phone is unlocked and rooted now as I have been trying to fix this for a while now.
When the GPS is activated (the circle crosshair icon appears) my data connection drops and reconnects. This can take from 10-45 seconds and is highly annoying. It has only been happening since the update.
I have:
Flashed Gobstopper for Froyo - seems to work fine with no loss of data connection
Flashed Gobstopper for GB - GPS/Data issue is back
Flashed Faux123's kernal - GPS/Data issue is there
Flashed CM7 Beta - Same GPS/Data issue
Each flash is through recovery with a complete wipe (wipe Dalvik, cache, data. Erase boot, system, userdata, cache, webtop, preinstall.)
I am out of ideas. Any suggestions?
Well I guess my issue is unique. Lucky me.
After flashing Froyo and letting the OTA update happen everything was doing well...
until I used THIS method to root my phone. As soon as I did this and installed Titanium Backup the GPS causes data connection drop.
At least I seem to have found the reason, now to find a fix.
(I am continuing to document this in case someone else has this same issue in the future.)
EDIT: After flashing 2.2.2 and letting it OTA update to 2.3.4 once more I found that it did the same thing again. GPS turns on, data connection drops then reconnects. This is without redoing IHOP. Without rooting. So the rooting method is off the hook. I am now leaning towards a hardware issue. I guess it is time to check out eBay for a spare Atrix and send this off to Bell to see if they will fix/replace it with an unlocked bootloader.

Update: Bought a new phone. Bell Atrix. Came with 2.2. Put my sim in it. Logged in to Motoblur. Updated OTA to 2.3. Added my google account.
Still does it. I can't believe there are no others experiencing this. That is two phones. Same thing.
Only other thing I can think to do is get tasker and keep gps off until needed.
I still love my Atrix!
You are not alone!
I started experiencing this at some point after the Gingerbread 2.3.4 update as well.
It's disappointing to hear that it also happens with CM7.
Did you ever post about this in the Motorola Support Forums?
I haven't posted in the Motorola support forums. I searched there and found most of the responses lacking in service.
I am running CM7 stable and it seems to work better now. Better all around. Haven't gone back to Bell's GB for a couple of weeks.
Before I made the leap to CM7 I did find that if I left the GPS off and turned it on just before using it there was less of an issue.
Yeah Motorola has absolutely terrible support, but I only was wondering if you posted there since it might help them take notice.
I'd really love to put CM7 on mine too, but I can't get any answers to some of the questions I have first, and lots of the info I find online is contradictory.
I found though that if I turn off the "use wireless networks" option in the location settings that it seems to help a lot.
But then there are apps that nag at me about that setting being off.
Been running CM7 nightly 4. No issues at all. Best firmware for this phone. Hands down.
Follow the instructions and everything will work great.
Hey There.
Bell atrix freshly international boot unlocked, CWM with Neutrino 2.7, first time google mapping startup after bootup, Data connection drops right after GPS icon lights up. Data picks up again, and most times have to restart app, google mapping then works.
Waste around a minute every time. Can happen a while after first boot as well.
Seem to remember a problem like this on my Vibrant, had to change supl settings through phone codes.
But I've got nothing here. Still digging.
FYI - I'm also a canadian Bell Atrix owner. A commonality?
Also determined:
If on wifi when gps app/gps turns on, I see Atrix drop wifi, and go to H+ data.
If only on data when gps app/gps turns on, I see Atrix drop H+ data, and go... nowhere. H+ Data comes back after a dozen or so seconds
Also, happens when using NottachTrix as well.
Threw in my Rogers sim as well, same problems with dropping data when GPS runs
I remember having this problem on my Desire Z. It was driving me crazy back then, but I finally found the culprit.
It turns out the problem was that there were 2 data APNs (not including MMS). Whenever the GPS is enabled, the phone would disconnect from data because of this. I deleted the redundant APN (leaving only one APN that I wanted to use) and everything worked fine since.
Working rom
I found a rom that works, Max Blur 5, it is based on the original bell rom 2.3.6, I tested several other Roms and only based on bell works. The last version Max blur 6 not working it's base on ATT rom..
I am on the Bell network in Montréal Québec.

Weird Wifi

Hey there,
ever since I got my Atrix it showed some weird wifi behavior:
When I turn wifi on it says "obtaining IP address" although it doesn't actually do that.
As soon as I enter the wifi settings (the one where you choose which network to connect to) it connects to my remebered wifi.
This happened on every ROM (Cm 7, Blur...) and any combination of Radios and Kernels.
Additional info:
German unlocked Atrix

To be honest it happened to my Atrix when it was stock I've never understood why so I always blamed my wireless router
Any fixes out there?
Its really annoying.

I will try a new router soon, may as well be an hardware issue on the other side. Old one is 3 years old anyway

I am having the same problem with the Wifi. I don't know what causes this problem. Happens in both CM7 and Blur based Roms.

I've had the same issue with most rom's, but not with the Neutrino rom. Happened with all CM7 based roms before, however. Had to go in and click on "settings" before data worked.
reflash 36P radio, wipe cache/dalvik cache, and reboot. 36P seems to fix 99% of wifi issues. Also change your kernel to Faux's latest kernel as that helps too
My Atrix was stock tho...

I tried all combinations of Radios and Kernels, including faux 024 beta4, but it didn't help
edit:
well, on neutrino 2.1 with faux 024 and .30p it appears to be working all right. Will do some testing and report back
edit 2:
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'm afraid it might actually be related to my router
Okay,
bought a new router and it is working fine. Seems to be an issue with old routers. Although I cannot say in what form. Both routers use WPA2

Lol I knew it, I think they just lose their ability to broadcast strong wifi over time...
