Greetings,
Got a Rezound last week and have been playing around with it. I used the CleanTools to get rid of some of the bloat, and also froze a few more packages suggested in a different thread.
Now, today I noticed that I have no audio, nothing. Phone doesn't ring, no notifications, music doesn't play...zilch.
I checked volumes, I checked to make sure I wasn't on 'silent', I put in headphones to make sure the speaker wasn't broken.
I get nothing. I can reenable all the packages and go through the cleaning process again, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific ideas as to what might have gone wrong.
Thanks.

If you re-enable everything does sound work again? If so, while you have all the packages disabled run "adb shell pm list packages -d" . This will list everything you have disabled. Post that list. Maybe move this discussion to a cleantool thread.
As discussed previously, when you freeze a bunch of apps you run the risk of messing up the sense framework, causing something not to work. Unfreeze the apps. This phone is fast and smooth enough and has plenty of memory. You don't need to freeze anything -just wait for root.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight and post my results. I would have posted on the CleanTools thread, but I'm not allowed to post in the development forum until my post count is higher.

That's a real rule? Wow. I think 99% of my posts are from that forum..Either way post your findings and help out the class.
Same
I had the same thing happen to me.
I rebooted, then re-temp rooted and the sound is fine now (and was fine once I rebooted).
Just hoped it wouldnt happen again, so I'm keeping an eye on it.

That did the trick for me too. If it seems to re-occur I'll try to investigate further. Thanks for the help!

Hi everyone.
I am using the SalsaSense ROM. I am unable to post in that thread because I am new here, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me.
In the stock SMS app there is the option to delete old messages once a limit has been reached. I installed the ROM, recovered my messages, and enabled the option in the stock app with the limit set at 200. But my old messages are not being deleted. With one contact I have 7k+ messages, and since enabling the option I have sent and received several messages with them. When I had Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.6 installed beforehand, following these steps was enough to provoke it to keep my inbox in check. But not now.
Is this a problem with the ROM, or the stock app, or am I just unlucky?
I'm hoping someone here may have come across this and can help me out.
Many thanks, BurnseyBoi
I think you've been unlucky. It sounds like a ROM problem since it's beta.
You could delete them using an app like SuperSMS Delete (I think it's that).
Yeah, guess I'll just have to wait for an update to it. I had a look round the market and found the app you were referring to. Worked a charm, thanks very much! Now my phone is a bit speedier.
Yeah i noticed this, unfortunately its a problem with the ROM. I've got a lot of issues to iron out so it takes me a while to solve each one, rest assured though it will be fixed

I love this ROM! I forgot how much I missed the little Sense features and looks. My friend just got himself a Sensation, which is where I got the idea to browse around for a Sense ROM. Many thanks!

I'm trying to follow the build.prop editing suggestion, but adb doesn't list my phone under connected devices. I've tried while the phone is on, and in recovery.
Is there another way of successfully editing it?
Yeah, you can use Root Explorer from the Market. ES File explorer may work too, look in the app's settings for Root options.
Navigate to the directory with the build.prop and long press and I think there's an edit option if you use Root Explorer. Then you can just edit as you would normally via the phone.
Thanks! I already had ES File Explorer, didn't realise it had root options though.
Made both changes that JieeHD suggested, then powered it off and back on. I've never seen my phone go from power button to lock screen that fast in the 2 years I've had it! I definitely notice a speed improvement from making those changes. Everything just feels sharper and more responsive.
Many thanks!

I've tried them and can confirm they do speed things up.
Wish there was some option to use a standard notification bar, I think it would help.

I agree. I tried following the instructions in this thread but I couldn't get it to work. Has anyone else using this ROM been able to successfully do this?
Hi. I recently deblurred my phone using Lokifish's deblur script. It worked great and I'm loving it. Only one problem. After an hour or two of use, I notice that the icon for the ringer toggle disappears (only the on icon, the silent icon remains). The toggle works fine, but I'd like to not have a missing icon.
The first time this happened I thought it was my fault, because I removed all the icon png files that were showing up in my library. However, after restoring a nandroid backup, the icon disappeared again over time. I even tried restoring a stock backup (nandroid backup of stock photon after 2.3.5 OTA update) and going through the whole process of running the script again. Same result.
During the first hour or two of use after deblur, I'm generally going back and installing all my apps again, adding widgets, getting settings back the way I like them, and so fourth. So, I think it has something to do with one or more of these tasks.
I'm just wondering if Lokifish can help me in getting the icon back. I'm posting here, because I'm too new to post a reply in the deblur thread since it's in the developer forum. Please let me know. Thanks.
You are never too new to reply or ask on the thread of the developed thing you have problem with. You should only avoid posting new threads on the developer section, unless you developed or found something and want to share it.
About your problem: Sorry, I'm not an expert yet, and I have no idea.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. Unfortunately, when I try to post a reply to a thread in the developer forum, I get the following error:
p0wder2, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
The reason below that line that I think most applies to myself is the following:
New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums.
This is why I have made the determination that I am "too new" to post. If this is inaccurate, please let me know, as I would love to be able to post a reply in the Deblur thread regarding the issue I experienced.
Thanks again.
I'm facing the same issue related to toggle icon. Finally I've to factory reset twice to get my icon back... lol

Sorry, my mistake. It's normal that you're unable to reply on the developer forus, just as you said. You can try to do what matrix says, factory reset twice. Then try to restore data using advanced restore within recovery mode.

Thanks, but I actually have a nandroid backup of the "deblurred" stock ROM. When restoring from that backup, the icon is there for a while and then it isn't. I also reverted to the stock 2.3.5 ROM, without the deblur, and when I went through the whole process again, the same thing happened. Icon is there for a while, then it isn't. I need a way of getting it back without any resets or restoring from backups. If not, I can live without it
Thanks again though. I appreciate the suggestions, they are just ones I've already tried.
I'm able to reply on the script's thread, so I posted for you.

Even if you reinstall it, you won't get your icon back... this is something related to application and memory problem... when I restored my backup, same issue again... didn't find any solution except installing lesser apps...
In my case some go application is causing a problem...

Interesting. Well, I figured it had to do with adding apps since that's the first thing I do after the deblur process is completed. However, I'm thinking there may be a way of forcing ADW to reload it, but I'm not nearly familiar enough with linux (or the ADW launcher for that matter) to figure that out on my own.
Oh well, as I said before, I can live without it if needs be. I'd rather have all the apps that are currently installed than the ringer icon. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, though.
I am opening this thread to stop the confusion in main dev and Q&A for Jamie's main ROM. This thread is ONLY for Q&A for his NIGHTLY BUILDS. Let's keep things separate. PLEASE help each other out and when you post please tell us what date you are on. Be as descriptive as possible and in no way expect Jamie to respond.....again...help each other out and BE KIND. check whats been merged into cm10 and there is your changelog.
and usb storage is only broken on tablet mode, use multi mount sd-card or something. it works flawless in phablet/phone mode.

Or switch yourself out of tablet mode.
So, as stated in the DEV OP Post 4. NOPE, no change logs and I am sure you saw Celkin and Jamie's posts as well. Just all hang together and post your findings and it will all come together. Jamie will post change logs for the updates he posts in his dev OP.

So it took me awhile to figure this out. I kept trying to move files from my computer to my phones sd card via usb mass storage mode....well while the large files were being exported I would walk away and come back to find there was a error and the files were not exported. It ends up being that when the Screen Timeout turns off the screen it also disconnects the mass storage mode and kills my export. Other then the hassle of having to change the time out duration, is there a way to change the settings of mass storage mode to override the timeout function and always stay on when in this mode? Worse comes to worse I could always make a toggle for it in my notification bar, but just thought I would ask if this is possible through the phone or 3rd party app, etc.
Message length
Hi, all,
I really hope I am asking this in the right place. I asked in the general q&a for Jamie's ROM and was directed here.
There was a question on page 92 or 93 in the other q&a about truncated message length, and after searching and re-reading I could not find any answers to the original poster's question...
I am now on the nightly build, and it is great! Kudo's Jamie!
My question is: I sent a message that exceeded 160 characters and it got sent as two messages, using stock messaging, has anyone else had this, and does anyone know of a fix?
I wiped, and did factory reset, updated with ROM, then did update with the nightly from Aug 20, and also reflashed Gapp, wiped Dalvik etc.
Everything else is working very smoothly, wouldn't go back to ICS for anything, just can't seem to send a long message?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Dan
How is everyone's WiFi on the newest build(Aug 19)? I have consistently been getting dropped from my wifi network then reconnected after 30-60 seconds. I've been on this rom for the past 3-4 builds and this is the first time I've encountered this issue.

On previous builds some have experienced issues with texting, i dont know if i would say sms splitting as an issue requiring a "fix". Personally as being one who has had issues with texting in the past i am just happy it sends over 160 without failing completely or converting to mms.
Try a third party sms maybe if it bugs you.

As far as transferring large files, android has always had issues transferring large files. From Jb-donut. I've felt the irritation, especially if the large file contains hundreds of smaller files. Just something ya gotta deal with. What worked for me if applicable was splitting the large file into smaller pieces for transfer. If thats not a possibility i find WiFi transfer to be a better option (solid explorer or es).
As well in dev options enable stay awake so phone screen dont shut off when usb is connected.

Thanks, I have really never had a issue with my phone screen timing out and mass storage turning off. It must have started on one of the latest updates.
Just rooted my phone...and I love being able to use the WiFi tether! A few questions:
1) Which of the bloatware should I remove and will it noticeably improve the performance of my phone?
2) How do I get rid of the WiFi notifications that always pop up and tell me there's WiFi nearby?
3) How do I get Sense 4.0 on this phone and what are the advantages/disadvantages of it?
Please keep in mind that I am an extreme noob and it was pretty incredible that I was actually able to root. In fact, I had to get help from a friend on it!
1) It will remove any background apps you don't need. Read up on which ones can be safe to remove.
2) While in Wi-Fi settings press menu then choose Advancedyou will see the option "Notify Me", deselect/uncheck it.
3) By flashing a Sense 4.0 rom and matching boot.img. There are a few good ones and really just as many bugs as any Sense 3.6 rom nowadays, so no need to worry on that.
If you need help, I'm only a quick PM away. I might not reply right away but I will gladly be of help.
EDIT:
Regarding your first question; flash a custom rom and not worry about bloatware.
Thanks, Snuzzo...much appreciated. Regarding #2, it was indeed unchecked. It says "Notify me, When launching apps, notify me when Wi-Fi is available"...not sure that's what I'm going for. Per your other recommendation, I'd assume flashing a custom ROM would help that.
Is there a good Sense 4.0 rom you'd recommend? Seems like I've seen that some don't jive with bluetooth...I use bluetooth a lot in my car. Also, what would you say are the benefits of 4.0 over 3.6?
I have tried them all, and so far I like Nils the best http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757357

Not being a real hardcore end user, I can't tell the difference. Worst one to ask in that respect. Checkout Hawknest's. Him and myself have been working on Eclipticrez for months now.
Quick clarification...the WiFi notification I'm getting is the one that shows up in the notifications bar at the top of the screen. Unchecking "Notify me" only keeps it from taking over my whole screen. I have unlimited data, so I'm uninterested in WiFi.
Flash NilsP rom and you wont have that problem anymore and everything works!

Also, if you choose to try a ROM that doesn't remove it, sometimes someone has a file you can flash that will remove it, such as for the ViperRez ROM. You might even ask if that file works on stock rooted if you're not ready to flash a ROM yet. Here's a link to the one made for ViperRez, you can ask in/search the thread to see if it would work on another ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786277&highlight=viperrez
But really, you might as well flash a custom ROM. I'm running ViperRez and I like it a lot but I'm not able to connect my phone as a portable player to my car and I'm not able to get my contacts into my car either. I was able to do both on stock and on a GB ROM I was running. Am going to reflash it and see if it works, or try to get it set up on stock first then reflash. Other than that I really like the ROM.
I was thinking of trying out iRezone, that seems like it might be good too.
If after you flash a custom ROM you still have that wifi icon showing just check the ROM thread and see if someone posted a fix.
I used to use a HTC One Max. About one month ago, I started getting no sound when a text was sent to me, at least 90% of the time. I tried multiple things to fix it.
1. Tried 4 different SMS apps, with only one being installed at any one time. This is including the built in system one.
2. Checked all sound and notification settings, both in the SMS apps, and in the Android settings.
3. Did a complete factory wipe of the phone.
On Sunday, I got a brand new LG V10. The problem continues. . WTH!!?? My V10 was setup manually, no restore from a backup, and has not been hacked, rooted, etc. Is it possible the problem is with Verizon? I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum, so I thought I would ask here! Any and all help would be appreciated!! :good:
PS: When this happens, the phone will also not vibrate
Wow! I must be the only person in the world that has this problem!
My phone updated to Marshmallow last week, and this problem continues. Does anybody have any ideas? I find it difficult to believe nobody else has had this same problem here . I did a Google search and I find others with the same problem, but most of them were caused by a setting on their phones. Verizon, at least one of their reps in the store where I bought my phone, also did not have an answer. Anybody??
I think people are not sure what your issue is.
Essentially you are not getting notification sounds when a new text arrives?

Have you checked the volume settings???
Thanks everybody! The problem is when I get a text message, most of time my phone makes no noise and will not vibrate. I have checked every setting possible. On my HTC, I was using Mood SMS and it worked great up until the last month I had it. On that phone, even after removing all SMS apps I installed from the Playstore and using the stock app. the problem continued. I will say that when I first went back to the stock messaging app, the problem initially went away, but returned the next day. On my V10, I have only had Mood and the stock app on it. I had Zedge installed, but removed it after downloading a few things from it. I read where other people had problems with apps like Zedge, but I have used it for a few years with no issues. Today I went back to the default SMS app on my V10, and so far it is working. If it stays working, great, but I will miss Mood. I really liked that app! I could factory reset my V10, but really do not feel like it!! Maybe other SMS apps do not do so well since you cannot remove or disable the stock one without rooting. I normally do not root my phones, but I guess since I pushed Marshmallow on it, I could not do it anyway.
