Hey guys, im currently using a Nexus S on the ICS platform, thinking it was a genius idea i uninstalled the stock version of MMS and now i cannot recieve text messages, tried using SDK to install a new CM7 MMS.apk but get nothing but "cant find device", tried emailing it to myself but that just says its already installed, im hoping someone out there can guide me in the right direction for actually sorting the issue (albeit caused by my own stupidity )
On a side note im actually shocked how much you can do with an android phone regarding mods, i am definately taking a huge interest in this in the future

Hi, I am a somewhat new user here starting originally with xtrsense 4.6.5. I am now using v 5.0.1 but I believe all the xtrsense roms use the original sense message app from stock 2.1.
My issue is that the messenger doesn't seem to split the messages up before sending them. From what I have read this isn't a problem for verizon users but I am not on verizon. I have set up my apn, prl, and everything else manually to get the phone to work, but this is the one last bug that I haven't been able to solve.
I know that I could use go sms or handcent, but I kinda like just sticking with htc's messenger. Does anyone know which files I could edit to help change this. I just downloaded the android sdk today so that I could poke around from the computer instead of just on the phone itself with a file manager. Also out of curiosity, where is the mms max message size stored? I think the default 1.2Mb is working fine but I want to play with some of the mms settings to see if I can get a better quality receiving/sending. I think it's just that my user agent isn’t really understood on this carrier, so I should change it to an android phone that they do have.
Hi I am having a few issues with the 10.1 galaxy and wondered if anyone can help. When I click and hold on txt to highlight it so I can copy and paste to another section most of the time it doesn't work and will still have the last copied txt whatever that was saved. After a few times of trying eventually it will say copied to clipboard but is well annoying how do I get it to work properly.
Problem 2, emails I receive often have URL addresses of stuff to check out, in the email I am unable to highlight the txt at all so can't copy and paste it see what I'm looking at, any one had similar problems, any solution?
Yup. I had copy-paste-select issues all the time.
In the custom roms though I dont remember having any issues (though I switch roms for 2 days now I might not have enough experience).
I think its some lame stock roms programming by samsung. What rom are you on?
thanks for the response, not sure am using version 3.1
Kernel 2.6.36.3
Do these things come preloaded with a lot of Samsung software they most people wipe. I find mine crashes a bit and whilst watching video via the add on cable through my 42tv its regular as clockwork will stutter, is that poss related to some ****ty software on here?
Thanks again
I understand that there are many other threads out there, and that many people have been having issues like this before, but I needed some quick help to get some things settled, and maybe give some Optimus V owners out there a repository of links for where to go for their issues.
Like many OV users, I had the TWS bug with the stock rom. So, I backed everything up and started flashing ROMs to see which ones I liked. All of them have been working well, up until recently. I had some issues with MMS, sending and/or receiving pictures, so I checked to see if there were any fixes. Threw on a flashable APN fixer, but I don't know if I screwed things up worse or not. At this point, I have Harmonia 2.09 (latest update as of 8/23/2012) running on the phone, with the ability to receive pictures through MMS, but can't send out pictures through MMS. Is there a way I can manually edit the APN in the phone to make it work, or a call I can make to Virgin Mobile USA to have them send a fresh APN to the phone, or something I can flash via CWM to fix it? I'm trying to be thorough, so let me know if there's anything the smart people of this android community can throw my way. Much obliged for any help I can get
It's been a week now and I still can't send any text messages.
I receive msgs but unable to respond back...
I thought it was because I finally updated to Jellybean (I've had ICS for awhile so I thought I should just stick to that) but then I downgraded last night to ICS and I still can't send messages.
well today I tried fixing it but still no luck, although I tried sending an MMS instead, I sent myself a picture and it worked! even tried it to other numbers and they received it. I also tried adding a text with the picture and it did work. but it's still not working when I just type in a text...
so anyway in short, I can't send SMS but can send MMS (and receive messages as well)
also extra: I can call people but whenever they call me it comes up as unknown number...
Does anyone of you know what might be the problem? How can I fix it? Thanks
EDIT: and btw I already checked the message centre number and it has the right number in it so I don't think the issues w/ that
I suggest using titanium backup to store user apps and data, then using mr.cook's rom wipe script to allow you to start from a blank slate, then re-install the desired firmware (whatever version)
You could work at fixing this issue individually, but (to me) it's a sign that something more fundamental went wrong, and that other issues may be soon to follow.
It isn't clear whether you upgraded to a stock jellybean, or maybe a 4.1.2 custom jellybean, or maybe a 4.2.2 custom jellybean, or a 4.3 jellybean. The latter, a 4.3 upgrade from ICS has the highest potential for weird issues if a thorough rom-wipe isn't conducted... whichever path was taken, The i777 runs all versions of jellybean well, and something like this suggests that the "upgrade" was not conducted from a clean slate, hence the suggestion for a rom-wipe and re-install.

can't text
Are you unable to text because a keyboard won't open? My daughter couldn't text (never figured out why - she always had a keyboard appear) so she got a replacement, and when I inherited her phone because mine has battery issues, I go through periods when I can't text because no keyboard appears. I have to into settings and play around with assigning a default keyboard before it will finally appear. Doesn't matter if I'm using the stock keyboard or one I've downloaded from a VERY reliable source - I still have to reassign and reassign and reassign to make it work. Powering off the phone doesn't do a thing.
Hello,
I am curious if anyone has ever found a definitive solution to this issue that has plagued android since Gingerbread. I have been on multiple phones, multiple brands, multiple revisions of the software and have seen this issue on every single one. Here is a list of the phones I have had:
OG Droid (2.2-2.3)
Droid 2 (2.3)
Samsung Charge (2.3)
Droid 4 (2.3-4.2)
Galaxy Note 3 (4.3-4.4)
The issue is:
Your friend sends you a message and they receive a notification that you received it. However, your phone neither alerts you to a message received or shows it in your inbox. However the message IS getting to your phone, because if you install GhostlySMS it catches incoming messages that don't make it into your inbox. So I must then conclude it is a database writing error or something of the like? Is there someone that can help me? I can reproduce the issue rather easily and can grab a logcat if needed.
I am currently running a rooted Verizon Note 3 (running the stock slot, but safestrap is installed) and am getting hardly any of the texts my wife sends me, and I miss quite a few from my father. She is running a rooted Galaxy S4 with Safestrap and Eclipse ROM.
I have searched and searched but so far all I can find are a bunch of "try this, try that" or "factory reset" without any real solid fix. I would like to find a real solution, not a workaround or a factory reset (if possible). I would especially love to know the root cause.
I know I may be asking for the world here, but hoping we could pool our collective consciousnesses to squash this issue once and for all!
Thanks!

So I did a factory reset (actually I completely wiped the entire stock slot, odin'd stock MJE, and then followed Beanstown's guide to get to KK using towelroot. The issue has gone away. However I have my SMS database and so far as I can tell there is nothing wierd. But I am not a DB admin by any means.
I would love to find out why Android eventually loses its ability to reliably write new SMS to the database after a while.
Anyone have any ideas?
