Yeah, it should work the same. The one the OP linked to is the OEM version. OEM accessories are usually a little better made (not always), and are almost always more expensive than generic ones like in your link.
If its MHL to HDMI , it will work with the Flyer and View, its nothing special same as most tablets.
I bought a cheap mhl cable but the micro usb didn't fit. The flyer usb plug is not industry standard. It's sort of bent and won't accept a standard micro usb plug. Look closely.

Actually, it will accept a standard micro USB plug, and it will function just fine. It doesn't charge as quickly with one, but it still works, and a standard MHL cable will definitely work. Maybe yours had a bad plug or something.

I purchased the HTC MHL to HDMI adapter. Probably a little over priced at $29 but it works perfectly. Yes it requires a charge adapter to be plugged in for it to work. It does not have the specialized plug but fits fin in the port
Guys, how do these work MHL adapters work for DVI adapters. I'm sure video will work but can of you guys check to see if it is possible to get audio out of the headphone jack while video is going to the TV. DVI does not handle audio.
Anyone ever find and MHL adapter with an audio out port?
Thanks.

When you use the appropriate MHL to HDMI cable and plug into monitor - does your HTC desktop screen fill the whole monitor?
Because when I tried - I only saw an HTC desktop screen fill about 1/4 of the monitor display

I've searched Amazon for the HDMI out cable (mini-usb to HDMI) and it came up with a lot of EVO 4G compatible ones, will that one work or not? I recall viewing a video review saying the hdmi cable for the EVO 4G isn't compatible with the 3D Evo, but I could be mistaken.
You NEED a micro-usb to hdmi cable. the ones for the evo 4g are JUST mini-HDMI to regular HDMI. Check the HTC website or wait until after the 3D comes out; there should be plenty coming out (it might even be included when you buy the phone?)

It's a Micro USB to HDMI connection. The biggest benefit is that it charges your phone while connected. Biggest drawback, your TV has to have compatibility built into it.

Sorry, I should have clarified. You're right. I was just talking about video out from the phone to the TV. The charging stuff, I'm not sure about.
Your tv will support it, you will have a dongle that attaches to from the micro usb to the mini HDMI port that provides function to the TV. Its called MHL technology and its very exciting. Charging your phone while you watch movies on your phone on your LCD or LED television is awesome. There are many, many functions for this technology and they are just starting to test what it is we really need to get this working without the dongle that is required without the TV or monitor needing the technology. Youtube MHL Technology and you will find your answer.

Still learning about this myself but from what I've read with mhl v.1.0 you can't, it doesn't support it. I don't know if the port will eventually be able to support it with later versions of the standard. Also, if you buy a cable when they're first available it's possible they'll only support 1.0 and you might need a new cable when later revisions of the standard are finalized to support the new features (similar to HDMI).

Kind of disappointed that I'll have to buy an adapter for my phone to charge while using HDMI out, this technology is cool, but the downside is that no TVs support it (yet). And I just bought a 42" like two weeks ago.
Am I mistaken or will all the 3D pics/vids essentially will only be viewable on EVO 3Ds? Like you'll see them but they won't be in 3D, regardless of TV or monitor claiming 3D functionality.
So now that the phone is out, has anyone tried out a generic micro usb to HDMI on the EVO 3D?
I can't seem to find any tv-out cables specific to the EVO 3D, so I want to be sure any micro usb to HDMI cable will work.

Micro usb won't work. You need.an MHL adapter. Then a regular hdmi cable plugs into the MHL adapter, and you plug your charging cable into the MHL adapter so it charges while its mirroring hdmi.

I have a MHL for my samsung infuse, maybe i will give it a shot later... I am assuming there is some sort of support as the jetstream has a modified microusb connector. It can support a regular microusb cable but it also takes a cable with an extra 5th pin for something... must be some sort of other dock or cables coming out for it.
MHL does work. I used the "universal" MHL adapter that T-Mobile US stores sell and it worked once I plugged in a 1 amp phone charger. MHL adapters require micro USB power in, and I found that less than an amp didn't work. But the HTC Sensation and LG Thrill chargers did the trick. I have a video of it in action in our Jetstream review:
http://www.mobiletechreview.com/tablets/HTC-Jetstream.htm
The device lists USB external storage under the storage applet. But I had no luck using a USB OTG cable (the Motorola Xoom optional cable). It didn't see flash drives, mice or keyboards. I've asked HTC PR about USB host, but it's taking a long time for them to get me an answer.
btw... the MHL adapter that came with my Samsung Infuse also worked with the Jetstream as long as i had the charger plugged into the MHL adapter, couldn't power itself on its own.

I recently purchased a "ikross USB to HDMI" adapter on amazon, supposedly supported by the HTC Amaze. However, when i plug the adapter in connected to my TV(s), nothing happens on the phone or tv.

Mhl uses micro USB, so you don't need a special port on the adapter.
My guess for op is that it might be the ROM. I use bullet proof, and my Mhl to hdmi adapter works fine.
Final, try making a backup of your current ROM, flash a ROM with sense, and try again.
Edit: Also, this should be in accessories

The port on the Amaze is a proprietary HTC design, called EXTUSB. It allows the device to get more power while charging, but it is also backwards compatible with microusb cables.

I got one of those, and it works IF you also plug a USB charging cable separately into the adapter - thanks for the stupid design HTC.
In order to do the hdmi out can you use a miniusb or does the adapter have to have the extusb?
Edit:
Also if I am reading this right you need a TV with the MHL chip in it for this to work:

All wrong. A simple Google will show you that EXTUSB was the port HTC used in the days of the T-Mo Wing, G1, and myTouch 3G.
The miniHDMI connector does NOT fit the Amaze. I wish I knew what our port was called... I'll report in if I can find it. But I know it's not EXTUSB
I recently bought Cable Matters Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter from Amazon. I have had success using it on stock phone, quicksense v3.0.0 and currently beastmod 2.3.0.
Just to set the record clear. The port on the Amaze 4G is called an MHL connector. It's not a proprietary HTC port, but a seemingly new industry standard. Just search wikipedia for MHL and you can read all about it.
Punchline is that you get a single port that can output HDMI and connect via USB in one go. Supposedly with the proper adapter your phone will charge while connected to an HDMI source. You can definitely use a standard micro USB cable on the MHL port if you just need to charge or connect to a computer via USB.
The one I bought, the power cable must be attached.

That's what Mr. Moo is getting at. MHL ports allows simultaneous output and charging; though I'm not sure they both need to be connected for either to work.
In my experience, the MHL with power connected doesn't really charge the phone. My battery still drains slowly while connected. Is that just me?

HTC calls the port ExtMicro USB. It's backwards compatible with Micro-USB plugs (the five leads on the flange you see on the front), but the proprietary plug has 12 pins total.
I was getting intermittent performance with a Micro-USB MHL-HDMI adapter, and had to have a Micro-USB charger attached.
The HTC adapter for the Amaze (and Flyer, and Rezound) is AC-M500, a 12-pin adapter with HDMI-out, Audio-out (3.5mm) and an ExtMicro USB port. I have pics of these on WikiMedia, and in a thread in the Rezound section.
I wish I could tell you what the 7 additional leads do that a conventional MHL-HDMI adapter doesn't ... and HTC isn't talking. (US Tech Support couldn't even confirm the that the port is different, only the recommended adapter.) aLogCat recorded some HDCP messages when I connected the phone with this adapter to a Dell ST2410 24" monitor that's been reported for not supporting HDCP-controlled HDMI video. When I connected my Amaze to a Samsung T27A300 1080P HDTV, it worked fine.

I cannot get my HTC Flyer to display on a TV screen using an MHL adapter. Are there any software settings that need to be adjusted or should it just work?
I have used two different MHL adapters and a number of different micro usb chargers plus a couple of HDMI cables on two different TVs but nothing works. The battery charges while the MHL adapter is plugged in to the Flyer but the TVs just display a "no signal" message.
Do I have to buy the dedicated HTC MHL adapter that I assume has ExtMicroUSB rather than a generic micro usb plug?
The Flyer is using the latest HTC stock ROM.
Thanks
This has been asked a few times on here and generally the fix is to hook up the MHL adapter and HDMI all up, then turn the flyer/view OFF.
Boot the flyer/view ON with all the cables hooked up.
IF you get the HTC cable, it will work without all that junk. Also will work without needing the extra cable to power it.

Make sure you are providing power to the MHL adapter through the external USB cable that plugs into the adapter
If you connect the MHL cable to the device and the OTG cable to the MHL cable the device can't detect the OTG cable.

According to some of wikipedia entries it should be possible to use mhl and usb otg at the same time with a 11-pin mhl-hdmi adapter.
Wikipedia said:
11-pin MHL-USB Connector
The Samsung Galaxy S III uses a connector that is similar to the original 5-pin MHL-USB connector, but it uses 11-pins in order to achieve a few functional improvements over the 5-pin design.
It supports the use of USB and MHL simultaneously (note that the new Samsung 11-pin MHL-HDMI adapter also has a USB-OTG port).
Samsung’s Galaxy S III can power the MHL-HDMI adapter. Although this can theoretically also be done with the standard 5-pin micro-USB connector, the Galaxy S III's 11-pin connector is believed to be the first smartphone that supports this functionality.

Confused because you said USB Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. From what I know they aren't USB.

Samsung should eventually release a dock to use both so unless someone figures it out first you'll just have to wait, because if it just took an 11 pin USB cable someone would have got it working already and we'd know about it, so I reckon it might have some extra circuitry to make it recognised by the phone.
Guys, as I already posted, the connector has 11 pins, so it should be possible to use OTG and MHL features at the same time. thats the only reason sammy brought out this connector and also cause of incompability with the 5-pin connector.
So they should bring the f*ck out somethin for the phone that activates this feature.
And a big problem I have with my mhl-connector is that I cant configure the output
on my 2 TVs at home I get 1080i, (both only 1080i capable), but the picture is kinda oversized so I cant see 100% percent of the picture, only 90% or smt like this.
But the funny part is, that I get on my 1680x1050p PC monitor only 576p screen, what actually sucks So it would be awesome if I could choose the resolution I want to have. But I guess its a thing of the connector (maybe it choose the resolutions iself).

That's damn funny because I have wanted to know whether that would work as well, lol.
Did seriously consider trying but as I was on holiday if they broke, I wouldn't be able to get replacement so didn't try it.
In theory I would think it could work, but only if you could somehow wire in power to the hdmi adapter as it appears to need that to run the hdmi aswell as provide power to the phone, at least enough that once the usb adapter tries to demand power to run it isn't enough for the phone to output.
As to whether this is just a a stupid guess and assumption of how the devices and being a noob, I don't know.
If you can get a micro female to male adapter with a usb splitter for power then technically I can't see why it wouldn't work if the limitations are physical as oppose to software based (whole other issue I have no clue about).
EDIT: Wow, when I started that post no one had replied, err, seems a little redundant now, lol. My bad. Also, this 5 minute wait to point this out, have seemed really long...
guess we'll have to wait for that dock.
