ringtone size problem lg p505 phoenix - Optimus One, P500, V General

well I bought this phone ist really god for me but i got this problem i guess went i was about to change the ringtone of the incoming call i take ones of my mp3 and it said that can not be used as ringtone file less than 300kb can be set as ringtone how i solve this

Get a ringtone maker from market. I rec ringdroid. That will let you cut down the file to the right size.
60 some views and no one could say this. WTF

oh my god i just see now i hace 80 views and just you answer thanks man but i am looking somthing tha bypass that i guess if i root the phone that could help anyway thank for the answer y already download it the app

im not sure how root will help as i have a custom rom on mine and it still says the same thing for me. unless your able to write a script, or take out the file size cap. on the other hand i dont see any reason to have a ringtone that long anyway.

Copy the file to /system/media/audio/ringtone, reboot and select ringtone from settings. If it still fails try a ringtone maker or Tape Recorder (To convert file) or similar PC software (File Factory)

How To Disable The Annoying Notify Sound While In A Call

I am not responsible for malfunctions your phone may have from this. I am having no problems what so ever from it. This can be completely reversed after you do it.
(This may or may not work for other versions of the Touch Pro. I only have a Sprint one to try it on. Some phones, like Verizon, you are able to remove this annoying sound without having to do this mod.)
Ever find it really annoying when you are on the phone with someone and you get a incoming text message and your phone makes a really loud and annoying sound 3 times in a row to the point where you can't even hear your caller?
Here is how to disable that.
Download the attachment from the link:
www.megaupload.com/?d=1G0DC4CW
This will include Total Commander v2.5, a modified version of the "notify.wma" file which is basically silence, and a backup original version of the "notify.wma" in case you want to undo this mod.
Now, heres how you do it.
1. Open the .zip and put the tcmdpocketarm.cab (Total Commander) and the notify.wma files on your storage card.
2. Locate and Install tcmdpocketarm.cab (Total Commander)
3. Go to Start > Programs > Total Commander
4. Locate notify.wma files on your storage card, select and hold and click copy
5. Locate your "Windows" folder then tap and hold to paste.
This should overwrite your notify.wma file on your phone. When you get a phone call and receive a text message you will no longer hear the annoying loud sound.
Please let me know how this worked for everyone.
Thanks!
Damien
Why not edit it in the registy instead?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
CONTROL PANEL
SOUNDS
INCALLBUZZ
Change Script so value is blank so DELETE P
or even delete the sound files name
Save wait a few minutes restart phone
Or you could even change it to a new sound that isnt so loud or annoying maybe something with one beep so you do know you have a text I find this feature useful
Both methods are sound. No pun intended.
I've used the same method RJM described already.

You don't have to prove it. If your within your 30 days then it's no questions asked. After 30 days it may take a bit more but definitely NOT impossible. I made them take back my Instinct after 3 months and got a Pro to replace it.

Shooot man really you got them to trade an instinct in for a TP? DAMN! I canceled my instinct paid 200 ETF and bought a TP... I also got rid of my instinct at the 3 month point. That thing was cool at 1st then sucked.

Thank you,
can you or someone modify the original file to make it softer? or upload any other good replacement file?
Also make sure that you aren't pressing the power button while you are typing that would do it too.

Custom notification sounds

Just got my Hero and I am loving it!
But how do I use my own MP3's as ringtones and notifications?
I keep answering these Q's on the basis that I'm pretty sure the Hero will behave like The Magic as its the closest cousin and also runs Android 1.5 so
Try this - on the root of your SD card you need to make a folder structure the same as on the device itself. Media folder with Audio folder inside. Audio folder with alarms, notifications and ringtones inside.
Media/Audio/alarms
Media/Audio/notifications
Media/Audio/ringtones
and put files you want to use for each of those in there and they *should* then show in the list that comes up for those functions.
I think mp3 are fine for all of those, but alarm and notification seem to be mostly .ogg files so if you have an easy converter, might be worth converting. I think I converted the main one I use for my alarm to ogg using WMP11
And having said all that, simply long holding on a music file will usually allow you to set it as a ringtone, wherever you store it on your SD.

you are our guru
thats for the info in the threads dazee
we are all learning again with the hero
Hey, cool to feel like an expert for a bit til the wizz kids take over. I'm killing time waiting for my Hero....
Actually, you can find most of these answers in the Sapphire forums or Dream forums as they are mostly Android 1.5 questions rather than device specific. Perhaps the mods should have an Android Forum since loads of stuff is duplicated and triplicated between the three android devices....
and that's only my hundredth post - so really, I'm the noob... LOL
Thanks for the help, but it's not working for me.
I have created Media\Audio\notifications as you suggested and put an MP3 in there, but I dont see it in my notification sounds list.
In what specific way am I being thick!?
For short stuff like alarms and notifications, they might need to be .ogg so you may need to convert for them to show up.
LOL You are a pioneer since most of us don't have a Hero device to try anything as yet
In my settings for the magic I also have a choice in Sound and display to check Sd Card Notifications, and I'm not sure if that's what is needed - and of course - I have a magic not a Hero so it could be totally different...
Right, I got it working. Possibly by enabling those SD Card notifications. I did restart the phone as well. Either way, its working!
Thank you for your efforts in helping!
Oooh restart rings a bell, actually - I recall that possibly was something I had to do on the Magic before the files appeared in the lists!!
Cool. Nice Teamwork If this keeps up I'll have solved all my own potential probs before I even get my Hero
Also confirmed ...
a combination of enabling SD notifications (off by default) creating folder structure exactly as it appears ( case sensitive) and transferring files over and a reboot for good measure - these now appear in ringtone and more importantly under notifications.
filetypes tested - mp3, wav and ogg - all appeared.
Thanks for the advice !
I found that just creating a /notifications folder on the SD card worked fine. Didn't need to reboot or anything.

Search for RingDroid in the Market. It finds all youre mp3's on the sd-card. Then you can open youre fav mp3, shorten it and save it and make it youre ringtone or notification tone
So, another little question, specific to HTC Mail app. Is it possible to change the notification sound for HTC Mail specifically? I havent found a way yet.

I can select in there whether or not there is a sound at all, but not which specific sound. Unless I am missing something...
Thanks
Thanks Dayzee, your post helped me out!
The Jones - I believe the HTC mail app uses the default Android notification tone you set in the usual place.

Hmm, thanks for confirming that. Shame, slightly annoying actually, I want a different sound for incoming work emails. The sound of me not reading them usually!!
I agree that it is odd not to be able to select a custom notification for the HTC email app. In fact all notification events should be grouped together somewhere for control and customisation.
Plenty scope for improvement in that area though.
speaking of sounds, my alarm is horribly low volume, even though i set both ringer and notification sounds to max....ahm, what am i missing?
huh, 2-3h later discovered that when picking out alarm sound, volume rocker is used to set alarm volume....kinda silly to hide it like that :/
I'm really missing a notifications app in general that will allow me to choose loits of different things like colour of light, tune/tone etc for various functions.
There's an app called Missed Call that allows you to choose colour for SMS flashing notification and for missed calls and I think bluetooth but not much else.
Would be FABULOUS to set a few personal contacts to have their own indicator colour

[Q] Ringtones not showing on Call Ringtone List

Bit of a strange one.. When I try and set a custom ringtone for a call, I can't because it doesn't show any other than the system defaults but it does show the custom ring tones for all of the notifications such as text/email/system notifications...
Any ideas to why? If there is another topic for this please point me that direction for it?

This was an issue on my Motorola Milestone.
For me all I needed to do was create a folder called “ringtones” (all lower case) and it found them. Haven't had time to put them on the Atrix, but I'm sure it's the exact same procedure...

I have this folder, that's the bizarre bit. They show up under every other status ringtone selection other than the actual ringing tone menu lol?
U should try Ring Extended.. It works for me.. search on the market.
if you are using gingerblur / gladiatrix reboot the phone and you will see the ringtones. these scripts have an option enabled to stop updating some folders on the phone.

This is occuring on a non-rooted phone, and it was fine until I plugged it into the computer and unplugged it again and since I haven't been able to fix it lol.
And I don't want to use an app for a basic system function. I've managed to manually set it through winamp anyway now.
I am experiencing the same issue. I'll use a 3rd party app to assign a ringtone (like ringdroid or mp3 ringtone maker) and it use that ringtone for a while and then magically revert back to the the phone's default ringtone at some point.

[Q] Setting a normal ringtone

Hi All,
I'm trying to set a normal ringtone on my S3, one that just goes 'ring ring'.
There doesn't appear to be one included in the stock ROM? Surely that cant be right?
If i haven't missed a stock tone, can i add a custom mp3 of a 'ring ring' phone without the use of an app?
If not can i have a list of recommended apps for this please.

Make folders on your pc with the heirachy system>media>audio>ringtones.
Put your custom mp3 in the ringtones folder, copy and paste to phone. Done.
There are apps that assign a ringtone from any file on your phone, but I've never tried them.
You don't need to do that. There's already a folder called Ringtones on the phone. Just copy any mp3 into there and you can select it as a Ring tone.
I know there's already a folkder called ringtones on the phone...
Out of curiosity I tried your way and it didn't work for me. I've used "my" way since my SGS1 days.

Phone ring tones .

Thanks lads.
I couldn't believe samsung hadn't included 'normal' ringtones but found some on Zedge from the play store.
Anyone know how to change the touch tones?

Question Has anyone figured out how to get Google Voice to use a ringtone instead of a notification sound for an incoming call?

I have never had this problem with another device. My Google Voice is set to use data instead of the native phone dialer and that means the app has to ring when someone calls me. Unfortunately this ends up being my default notification sound just repeating endlessly. When I go to the ringtone list, there are no ringtones there, only notification tones to choose from. This is extremely obnoxious and while setting my watch to intercept notifications from Voice is a workaround, it's not ideal.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app to no avail. I did find a video where someone had this problem on a Pixel but they were able to resolve it since the Pixel doesn't limit you to notifications or ringtones in the selection menu, both are readily available. This doesn't seem to be the case with Samsung though.
A possibile workaround is coping app your desired ringtone file into the notification folder from the ringtone folder. I accidentally added all my notifications files to the ringtone folder and they all showed up as possible ringtones so the same could work both ways I assume

I learned this a long time ago, glad it still works. Ever since about android 8 I've had my personal set of tones I prefer so I keep both folders on my PC and every new phone gets them copied to the respective folders

Zedge is a good app to get stuff on device, lots of ads and it pushes a lot iap but the core functionality is free.
