Hello peeps just wanted to know disable the V Cast Media Manager from syncying, I tried unchecking everything the list, but the next day it magically checks everything on the list again.....
I know its part of the bloat ware package and can't be unistalled, just wanted an alternate option.

Just use one of the approved temp root methods and freeze the App with Titanium Backup.

Go over to the dev section, grab scrosler's CleanTool and it becomes pretty elementary from there. Oh and Media Manager's package name is com.htc.vmm.

I meant will disabling verzion media manager disable the nfl app as well? It requires several other apps to work properly and don't want it disabled.
If you just disable the vcast apps, NFL Mobile will work fine

ok, i had them before, but then they went away and now i got these green + with advertisements in my notifications again. Not sure what app they are coming from, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.
Check what dev makes that app advertised, and then see if you got an app made by the same dev.

good idea, i just checked and saw no connection... however i did finally take the time to read the "opt out" and went to the web page on my PC to be removed from the list. Time will tell if this works or not. Thanks
Thats the new way to advertise because of apps to block ads. I found the app bartender and some live wallpapers have these tied into them

There is a free app called addons detector that will tell you if any apps in your phone use push messages (that is what that is) and remove the apps that do if you want.
Thank you I found one myself had same problem.
I haven't seen a list of bloatware / AT&T apps that are safe to remove. So I thought I will ask:
- Which apps that you know are NOT SAFE to remove?
- I keep seeing in the task bar a double-arrow icon, indicating that an AT&T app is checking for software update. As a matter of fact, I did receive a message from it about a new software update. Which .apk I need to disable for this?
Again, this is only for the bloatware.
I deleted everything that had at&t in front of it. At&t messaging, my at&t, at&t navigation and the at&t update services thats the blue and red arrows you are seeing. I did this through task manager.

Thanks for the info. No problem so far with freezing these AT&T apps, including AT&T Update Services?
BTW, when you said "delete", did you mean "freezing it with Titanium Backup" or you actually REMOVE the .apk?
I froze the above apps using TB, but it is still shown in Google Play as being installed and needing update.
You can search XDA for "apps safe to remove". The SGS-II forums have a spreadsheet that works for the note.

With Google Play, the feature to DETACH from Market no longer works. So even if the app is frozen, it is still shown in Google Play, especially if there is an update.
This applies to ALL bloatware. After a while, you'll see tons of these in your Google Play list and you no longer can select
"Update All".
Can we SAFELY move the .Apk from /system/apps?
I deleted them. I froze them first and then deleted ecerything with at&t on it through task manager.

How did you DELETE these built-in apps?
There is NO uninstall feature, even when accessing it from System --> Applications --> Manage Applications.

If you have root on your phone, many third party apps will allow you to delete them. A popular one around here is Titanium Backup. I highly suggest installing this and purchasing the key (although the free version will work just as well). Its a staple in apps to install for rooted phones.
I deleted them through task manager. I used the uninstall feature. Try it.

Personaly I would use titanium backup (in batch) to freeze apps you may want to uninstall.. leave them frozen for a few days to ensure there are no problems.. if once your sure there are no problems you can uninstall them (delete).. Uninstall can be done most of the time though the task manager .. but if that does not work titanium backup will most defently do it..
As someone else pointed out.. I did a search for i717 app safe to remove and got this nice spread sheet..

How can I delete YouTube?
I hope it's ok to make a topic about this... Been looking around without finding any duplicate posts. I should note that i had an older rezound that i rooted just fine on gb and it tethered fine.
This new one had ics before i rooted it, and i get issues with any tethering app i use; even barnacle, which was the one i used last time. Ill post the error message i get in a subsequent post, but i think it had to do with difficulties making an ad-hoc connection or something.
Anybody face this issue?

Use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Go to settings in the app, set devuce profile to HTC rezound or Samsung galaxy nexus CDMA.
Change setup method to net D master, turn off encryption and scroll down and check to enable routing fix.
Delete the Verizon mobile hotspot app and the system app TetheringGuard.apk
be sure to grant superuser or supersu root access

Now that we have some root access, I figured we could use this thread to report what apps we've successfully frozen/uninstalled, and using which app.
So far from using Rom Toolbox (Pro) I was able to freeze the following:
-Amazon
-Amazon Kindle
-Backup Assistant Plus
-My Verizon Mobile
-SEAndroid
-Setup Wizard
-Sync Service (backup assistant)
-Verizon Login
-Verizon Mobile Security
-Verizon Remote Diagnostics
-Verizon Tones
-Verizon Navigator
-Verizon Voicemail
-Voice Recorder
Uninstalled:
-NFL Mobile
-Audible
Cant find/figure out:
-Viewdini apk (no idea what this even is)
-VZW Mobile Hotspot apk
-Audible Re-installs itself.
Some of the apps were stubborn and needed to be frozen a couple of times for it to stick.
I have frozen via TitanBU:

You do know that the built in disable feature cannot disable every app, right? Hence one reason some of us root out phones.
Disabling app is the same thing as freezing if YOU watched the Google videos from there YouTube channel they explained it but Google is not gona use the stupid word (freeze) so they went for (disable) its exactly the same effect and does exactly the same thing nothing different at all !

I could be mistaken but i think when you don't root, there isn't ALWAYS an option to disable an app. I know on my wife's phone there are some apps she has to leave in the app drawer because when you go to disable it, the "disable" button is greyed out. You can't click it.
If you root, you can disable EVERY app, even the ones with the greyed out buttons.
But i'm sure if i'm wrong you will correct me with all caps and annoying exclamation points

All i have to say is one thing and hope this guy can comprehend .... If root is pointless to "freeze/disable" apps and only for flashing roms... then explain to us how you can disable Verizon apps without root (like VZ Backup Assistant) cause without root, the disable button is gone or grayed out.
wow...came here to see what apps people had uninstalled (instead of just freezing them) and all i got was dumber!
so...to try to salvage this thread....
what apps have you uninstalled without issue?

If anybody else is having issues running out of memory before we get root, here's what you can do.
Go to Settings>Apps, scroll to all, and see which ones you can Disable.

Yeah, the Sprint stuff we're stuck with til we get root/unlock. If Sprint/LG stays true to form, we won't even be able to remove bloat until we get unlock.
I'm a minimalist as far as my phone, so I have very few apps and widgets. Im always modifying things to make stock better.
It amazes me though that we have 3gigs of memory and it easily goes down to 500mb. That's when I start having issues and why I posted this.
I don't even use FB or G+.
Can't wait for root/unlock to see what this phone is really capable of.

Actually I've gotta give it up to Sprint/lg for actually giving us the ability to remove about 95% of the bloat. The very few that I actually couldn't uninstall I just hid. May not be perfect, but an effort was made to allow us some control, and that's a great start. Hope to see more of this in the future. [emoji106]

I hadn't thought to run ART, but I decided to try it out. It's actually super smooth for me, no issues aside from Pandora, but I fixed that. No weird freezes or reboots like I had on my Note. The only thing that hangs slightly is Media Browser, but it's usable.
If only we had Xposed for ART. And root... good things come in time though.
I have been using an app for a few years now with some pretty good customization. Fast Reboot Pro. There is also a lite version. It works great for me. You can decide which apps it handles and if it will free memory when you unlock or lock your phone. Also a widget to free up memory when you need a quick boost, which is the way I use it.

I had no issues with ART for about 2 weeks. Then one night I went to sleep woke up and some apps as well as some games started to act very funny. They would load then crash out the Facebook app itself would hang forever and never work yet the night before everything was working fine. I went back to dalvik and I've had zero issues since that time. ART was nice minus the issues I had I would love to keep using it.
