bye guys - Optimus One, P500, V General

not that anybody cares but i upgraded to the triumph today, it was 229 at walmart and i couldnt pass it up. now dont get me wrong the OV is one hellva workhorse. overclocked its a beast and never broke down. but 4.1" is something i couldnt pass up and the fact that i can play gta is a plus. so thanks to the ov community ie jerry script for i.h.o and obijohn for bumblebee.
peace now on to # the trirumph

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG they have a working miui rom for the triumph. its soooooo pretty. the skins/themes for my ov doesnt do a full MIUI rom justice. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

What miui rom are you using on the triumph. I've been wanting one but the lack of me being able to find a stable custom rom i like has kept me from it. I really like IHO on my ov

Isaac’s 11/30 MIUI Releas but the honeymoon is over. sure i can over clock the tri to 2.0ghz but everytime the screen is of and i wake it up either the wifi (if connected) or 3g (if connected) says its connected but its not. you have to manually turn off/on either wifi or 3g to get it started again. but going to the pulldown on miui is soooooo prettty i dont mind it...that much.

oh rooting the tri is a breeze all you need to do is download the terminal from the market type in some stuff and its rooted. so no connecting to a pc and installing the sdk

please let us know how u like it in a month

To fix what Samsung failed to do since the release.
Thank you XDA
Oh yeah that's also one of my reason
Sent from the dirty little green robot.
Mainly because roms make our phones like they should have been....I mean with a computer can you not custmise stuff the way you want? Why not a android also..That and because I am kind of a geek when it comes to making my phone opped out as much as possible...
And also because it helps the following scenario...lol:
Newish to android geeky girl walks up to me and says, "Oh, I see you have a Vibrant? That phone sucks because it doesn't have basic stuff like working GPS or Froyo." then I can reply by saying, "Mine does, here let me introduce you to the world of flashing...and no that's not a euphemism."
I wanted to be rooted and for some reason the stock rom didnt way to stay rooted so, bam, nero v3. No more un-rooting problems.
Stock is gay.
Custom is good.
Some guys tune thier cars & some guys tune their electronics.
its only natural to want to get your moneys worth out of a device.
I paid full price for my Vibrant (couldn't upgrade)
Had I not figured out how to load better roms.. I prolly would have thrown it through the window of the Tmobile store, or at the samsung corporate office.
Only because it uses some tweaks for speed up and fixes those little enjoying bugs?

I run a custom rom so i can play Dungeon defenders smoothly.
I rooted because I wanted to try new apps that were only available on froyo. Other reasons were o wanted to unleash the full potential of this beast. Its much snappier with an improves battery life. I wanna say 'thank u samsung' for making me go ahead and root coz u were not willing to update ur flagship phone in a timely manner.

10% for speed
10% for battery life
10% for awesome factor

110% reason to run custom
Speed. Lag fix and overclocking. I wouldn't have had a reason at all if Samsung didn't use RFS. I can honestly live without froyo, it is nice though. I probably still would have rooted anyway just because The only gizmo I haven't modded yet is my PS3. As soon as it's confirmed sony can't block psn use and there is a safe proven method to get back to stock it will be done.

Eh, I wouldn't say so. I've had mine now since September. I flashed one of the first Team Whiskey Froyo roms in November, I believe. Since then I've tried mixing up roms a couple times a month. Recently I installed an FFC and CM7...which I hope to stick with for a while now.
I know what you mean though. You just have to keep yourself busy with it because there really aren't THAT many phones which can keep par with ours. I've had my share of iPhones before this phone, and I was amazed by the capabilities of this compared to that or the original Nexus
So.. Its NOT just me who thinks this! Whew! Boy am i glad.
Anyways i just dont get those orgasams from flashing roms anymore.
I havent flashed a rom in 1 abd a half weeks!!!
I know right I loved it
It was so exciting

I guess it's a matter of where your preferences lie. I know that when I was trying out new ROMs, it was like Xmas morning - opening presents to see what new gifts I'm getting. But at this point, I just need the phone to do what a phone does.
Once I installed, Trigger 2.6, I hung up the whole trying out new ROM thing, and just enjoyed the stability. I still love the Vibrant every time I pick it up. There are little quirks that get to me, but the screen is really really nice.
I get that once in a while, but then again I anticipated it. I know at some point, it'll just be a phone to me, and I'd use it as a tool and not a toy. The problem is that there is always something bigger and better coming out and you'll never be satisfied with what you have.
The phone market changes daily. I still love my vibrant, it does everything I need it to do and no phone matches it's screen quality. I have also hung up flashing roms, at least until CM7 finishes Ginger
I don't see a phone that competes yet for me until SGS2 comes out. No point in buying a new phone until then.

I've used both..
as far as looks, trigger wins no doubt.
Speed both have it..
but for some reason sweet honey is a bit more snappier.
It's nice to know I'm also not alone. Don't get me wrong, I still love the phone and I don't see myself getting rid of it for any other phone for at least another 6 months, but it's lost that amazingness it used to have. I remember flashing my first rom (I think it was something by Sombionix before his TW days) way back in the summer. I remember waiting for GPS and then Froyo. I remember how great it was to get that very first Froyo leak and think "Now we are cooking!" Now developers are dropping like flies. Other phones have CM7 and it's completely stable yet our CM7 just feels too much like a beta. (I know most things work, but it's just not as stable as I need)
I think this phone, and the SGS in general, had so much potential, but it was ruined by crappy Samsung software. I can only imagine where we would be now if we had stock Android out of the gate. Once again, I love the phone, I just think it fell a little short of its full potential.
I thought I could get over not having a camera flash, but when I need it that makes me sad. The poor gps doesnt help my feelings either. I will keep it untill something I really want comes out.
I dunno, I'm pretty thrilled with my phone..... I flash a new ROM every week or two (latest is Frost). I love the multifunctionality of the thing, Samsung made killer hardware and TW's software is excellent. I for one am pretty sure I'll be sticking with Samsung for at least one more phone....
Only cons here are no camera flash and no 4g.
I am fighting with myself when It comes to flashing roms. I cant seem to flash away from simply honey.
So to deal with my need to flash I end up flashing other peoples phones!
Yup man especially when I had the g1 and the hero roms started to begin developing

Has anyone gotten Spectral Souls to work?

I'm on CM7 6.5.8 and the game keeps bringing me to the same screen and says maybe the server is busy. I've been trying during different times of the day but with no luck. Sometimes it runs for a few minutes then says server busy but other times it says it automatically...
Can our phone even run this game? They say that there will be a hardware check before downloading but seeing as I never got to the part where it connects to a server, I can't be too sure if it is compatible or not...
So has anyone tried this game on the O1?
it is not compatible for the o1
Oh ok. Thanks for the heads up thought it had something to do with the custom ROM...
It IS compatible with the o1; one of my friend had standard froyo rom non-rooted and was playing it. Of course he paid 15$ for the legit version. Now that I rooted his phone and go andy's rom on it, we have not put the game back on, but if stock froyo can play it, I don't see how the other roms would not.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Much Love
Oh... So I'll need a ROM based on official sources =c CM7 versus Spectral Souls...
I did not say that, and I would be really surprised if this was the case, as stock roms are less performant than CM7 or Andy's or whatever. I just said that it works on stock froyo 2.2.1. My point is more about the fact that except if you are very lucky / persistant / knowlegeable in " other ways " for all I know and have looked around you'll have to pay to get it to work Their team is very up to date on " alternative " ways to get the game working . Enjoy
Sent from my LG-P500 using Much Love
I've been reading in other forums about this game and it seems like some custom ROMs are unable to run it. That's why I thought it had something to do with mik's CM...
I play it on my O1 with mik´s CM7 and it runs smoothly, don´t know what´s the problem then.

ROMs: SkinnyRev1 vs. CM7

For those of you who have used both of these outstanding ROMs on your MoPho, which one do you prefer and why?
Both are great ROMs. I am currently on cm7. I am really liking cm7. Its fast and battery life is outstanding. Downside to cm7 is you do need to edit build.prop to get youtube working. Also have to edit apn to get mms working. Fixes are easy to do though.

i agree with above. both are great and will wake up your photon like no other. when it was all said and done, i picked CM7 bc thats what i ran on my EVO and was just more comfortable with it. personal preference really. neither will let you down.
I'd personally go with skinnyrev1. But I've been running CM7 for a long time on my evo shift and got bored with it. But if you have never ran CM7 before on any of your devices then its worth a try. But for the photon I'd go with skinnyrev1.

Really? I haven't really seen anything other than the Alpha builds. Everything works? The Evo worked great (minus 4g, but I don't live in a 4g area anyway). I can only imagine how fast it is. My Photon runs only a little faster than my CM7 evo.
Which build are you guys running?
I am loving life on my CM7 ROM. Not a big fan of Motoblur, so wanted to try something new. To be honest though...this is my only ONLY ROM that I have tried so can't offer anything new to the conversation other than I have had few problems from it. On reboot, I get a single phone.apt error that once dismissed, doesn't bother me again. The MMS issue is NOT an issue on mine...I send and receive picturemail daily and have not had any issues with that. I wish the built in buttons for the zoom on the camera app worked, but they don't...yet. Have to use the apps slider to control zoom. The Wifi is qwerky at times. I sometimes have to FORGET a known network, turn off Wifi, turn it back on...then reenter login info's to get a reconnection on a previously working wifi accesspoint that I use...but...just a minor annoyance. Considering it is still technically in alpha...it is very usable and stable...I say go for it!

I havent had any issues with wifi, got work, home, parents home, and two friends houses in college station. 5 networks total. is it the same router that you are experiencing this trouble or is it the same across all routers?
but to anyone that is in question between the two, dont base ur selection off others, its gonna boil down to your preference. its gonna be 50/50 based on reviews. best thing you can do is flash one and play around with it, then make a backup, flash the second one and see if you like it better or not. Still make a backup of the second in case you want to move back again. Thats the great thing about Android, its your choice
since you have it narrowed down between just these two, youre in a good situation. alot better then flashin all day to see what you like the best.

I've been pretty happy with SkinnyRev1 as a daily driver. I'm currently on CM7 testing the new 1.3OC. My phone hates the 1.4 kernels for some reason and on CM7, even with the modfied APN mms is very sketchy. I can send just fine but when I receive a message, that message gets repeated over and over again every couple of hours (sometimes minutes) until I get sick of it and restore my Skinny nandroid.
I've had it happen with several versions of this alpha and cannot seem to get it to stop once it happens. Deleting the thread does nothing, I just get a notification a little later that I have a new message. I've even gone from several of the yay leaked sbfs straight to CM7, skipping skinny altogether and still have the same mms issue
Well I haven't tried skinny rom but cm7 is awesome very stable been my daily driver for about 2 weeks and love it. Very smooth and fast. I had cm7 on evo 4g and needed it on this. it's very customizable (real word?) U can change lockscreen add gestures change overall color and much much more I feel like a spokesman for cm LOL but seriously give it a try u wont b disappointed

If it helps my eventual goal after i finish some other projects would be cm7 with webtop. I might start work on it tonight actually. Ive been with cm since it started on the g1. Once kinks are worked out its definitely preferred. I made skinny because we didnt have any alternatives and my friend likes blur, lol.

[Q] downgrade help 16gb

ok so ive tried to read everything i can and ive got my head pretty much around it but a few more direct inputs would help.
i went from cm7 to cm9 and a few cm10 on my wife nook. she doesnt like them they seem unstable for the amount she uses it. reboot or locked up about once an hour as she was reading with nook for andriod or running an audio book player.i also went from cmw5. to cmwv6.0.1.5. so with the new cmw6. you cant flash cm7 roms. it looks like people have had luck by holding Power + N and restart till 8 times but that puts it back to stock is my understanding. would like to know if that is correct i would need to reroot it then. next way ive been looking at is [RECOVERY + HOW-TO] NEW/OLD ClockworkMod/TWRP/Stock Recoveries for 8GB/16GB NT page but im confused on what ones to use. i want to go to cm7 but i dont think the cm7 flash will work since my cmw is at v6. ok guys i know that was alot but ya help would be great. so again i just want to go back to cm7 and would like some help getting there.
I have done this. I wanted to try cm10 and flashed cwm 6 but it was too unstable. All you have to do is flash the cwm for cm7 like you did for going to cwm6. Then flash the rom and gapps again and Voila

What specifically was bothering your wife? The CM10 ROMs have matured very quickly in the last month or so, and the devs are slaying bugs right and left. It's possible that something as simple as tweaking a few settings could get her Nook back to running stably on a CM10 ROM, with much less work done...
Regardless, if you want to roll back, I'd suggest installing TWRP 2.x, which works for both CM7, and CM9/10 ROMs (as long as you haven't flashed the 5-touchpoint firmware update). There's a detailed thread in the Dev section by Lavero.Burgos with instructions here.
i tried 3 copies of cm10 and 1 copy of cm9 it would deep sleep or reboot comstantly im talking 2-3 time an hour while she was using nook for andriod or smart audiobook player. cm7 ran these without a problem so going back untill cm10 get a bit better. thanks for the info on twrp though
Is the battery draining down under 10%? I was having problems with CM10 with low battery but if keep it charged haven't had any reboot problems. I'm on not on the 5 touch ROM.

Ahh... The random reboots seem to have been pretty well killed now. If you're still interested in staying with CM10, take a look at Demetri's SGT7+CherryPicks ROM in the dev section. I've been running that for over a month now with that with no problems.

Running with the 06-11 version of the above ROM, I haven't had any issues with deep sleep with the CPU governor set to 'on demand'. Right now, it shows 4 1/2 hours on battery, and still holding at 89%. Part of that time it was running "Heroes Call" which is a HUGE battery hog.
Saludos,
Steve
Ok, so I know this may be stating the obvious, but just in case.....did you go into cyanogen mod and set up the display so it does not time out after one hour? A casual user could mistake the tablet going to sleep as a shut down (my mom did this)! Hitting the N button does not bring back the display during sleep, you have to hit the power button.
At least with my mom, a very casual user, the problem usually has an obvious answer that has to do with the user, not the tablet!
