[Q] Strange bug with LauncherPro and HC on Wifi Flyer - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I encountered what seems to be a strange bug. Today, I 'went the globatron way', and upgraded from stock BB Flyer on GB to the HC here. I installed LauncherPro, and also Home Stack (to help the switching).
Launcher Pro seems to work fine...except the background (wallpaper) goes to all black as soon as the device is flipped from portrait to landscape. The wallpaper stays black from then on. If I begin in landscape mode, switch from Sense to LauncherPro, then turn the tablet into portrait mode, then it again switches to a black wallpaper.
Anybody have any clue what the problem is? Is it a problem with HC or with LauncherPro?

Fed hasn't updated launcher pro in forever, I don't think its HC compatible. Rumors are he abandoned it. Why not use ADW?

Ack! Perhaps this is the reason. Any other recommendations for alternative launchers to Sense (other than ADW?). I particularly looking for something minimalist and fast (which is why I liked Launcher Pro)

Go launcher has become insanely popular. Free and has a ton of features. It's plenty fast.

Is.there any launcher which in which the app drawer icon and other things switch to landscape mode while in landscape mode?

Go Launcher

Has anyone else here tried Go Launcher? I think it's my new favourite. It locks my Streak's screen in portrait by default and is very smooth. You can also organise you home screens better than other launchers too, similar to that of the Galaxy S where you can add, remove and re-arrange your home screens.

Going to try it out now.
U have any screen shots, to check it out? Sounds good.
I am actually trying it out. Its nice the only thing is the grid size of 5x5 is to small.

how would you guys compare it to adw.launcher?

I prefer it. I'm using a pixel density of 200 though so 5x5 is a good for me. It seems to run smoother for me than ADW and I really prefer the way it does the previews as opposed to the sense leap style. You can have up to 9 homescreens which is a bonus.
The only thing I'm not 100% on is the app drawer.

I like the app drawer. The options for running apps is good and you can uninstall from that screen.

+1 on uninstall from drawer. I just wish the top row was smaller, or there was an option to turn it off. To be honest, I generally don't use the drawer very much anyway so it's not a big deal for me.
There are only two things keeping me from using LauncherPro. It can't be locked in portrait. I use a lot of widgets, so if it switches from portrait to landscape then it takes a long time to switch back. The other is that if I want to change the number of home screens, I need to move all of my widgets if I want the default screen to be in the centre.
Tell you what, if Go Launcher can put together a swish Facebook widget like the one in LauncherPro Plus, I'll be sold!

LauncherPro not being able to lock in portrait is only a problem on the Dell Streak because the default orientation of the device is Landscape :/ LauncherPro DOES take SOOO long to switch from portrait to landscape and it annoys the heck out of me if I'm holding my Streak in Portrait and unlock it... feels so sluggish.
The app drawer in GO Launcher is nice, but I wish we could squish more apps side-by-side. That and the text seems like it doesn't fit and shows like Ca...ra (Camera) but for almost all the apps.
I stop using go launcher and went back to launcher pro. Could not get used to the small grid size. If they update the grid I will download it again.

+1
It also made the wallpaper issue worse by showing less of it than even stock. Also couldn't use custom icons for buttons as some didn't work.
Went back to launcher pro.

Do guide us too as to how to use the Go launcher. Would would good to arrange the widgets on the dell streak
Actually you're bit wrong. Here's why: I have launcher pro plus along with simple lock lockscreen application. Not only unlocks the screen in portrait mode, but also, incoming calls are in portrait mode
Cheers,
Chris
Testing the last few days, using adw ex as default. Like I can have 9 screens very smooth. Prefer the drawer ui 4D also golauncher didn't show full app name in the drawer menu
I'm going to continue using atm

I like this Go Launcher, very stable and smooth. This can really lock the screen in protrait mode. Much better than Launcher Pro.
The dock on go launcher is turned left about some pixels..(on potrate)
Question for those using Go Laucher - is there a fix for the issue of the Dock background graphic not scaling correctly on the streak (for example the "ruler" from the sketch theme only covers about 2/3rds of the background of the dock)?
I'm running 2.2 (build 315)...
thanks
I guess it is because of the different DPI Dell Streak have (other WVGA devices have 200 dpi, Streak have 160 dpi). Maybe try to ask authors?
But good news, Go Launcher Ex can have now custom rows and columns on desktop now!
Using latest version of go launcher. Much smoother than adw and pro. It is now my favorite one. Zeam follows as close second because its latest release freezes alot.
I am not seeing any of the issues reported about wallpaper.

Does no-one else use VTL Launcher then? I've had it a few months now and love it, mainly for the docks that stay there no matter which screen you move to.
Anyone compared it to Go / ADW etc?

Which Launcher are you using on your A101?

I've been looking for a new launcher for my A101. I find the stock one a bit limited and jerky in its scrolling.
I was wondering what aftermarket ones you had tried and what you thought about them?
I just tried 'Go launcher' and it was smooth and had some great functions. Problem is it only seems to work in Portrait :-(
I also heard about Zeam Launcher unfortunately its not showing in the MArket or AppsLib
I look forward to your thoughts
I use Zeam on my A70, you can get the latest apk from here.

I've been using launcher pro since I got my Desire. Tried a few others on my A101 but came back to this one. Smooth, fast, easily customizable. Only downside in my eyes is that the homescreen reorganisation in portrait is horrible! But, can be locked into landscape.
If it doesn't show up in Market, you can get apk from launcherpro.com..
you should try VTL Launcher. It is the only launcher made to run in landscape. it was designed for tablets. i ave been running it and it rocks. You can get it in the market ( i think it is $1.99) or here(free):
http://vegantab.gojimi.com/vt-labs/vtl-launcher/
launcher pro and zeam are running very well on the archos
i prefer zeam
IMO is the best launcher ADW Launcher; you set up much things just try and you will see it's the best^^
I use VTL launcher too. It's good. Very happy with it.

Wait, what?
LauncherPro only has problems in landscape, and it's easily worked around by switching homescreens back and forth.

Thanks for the tip, this is a great launcher.
I'm using LauncherPro, but about to swith to ADW. I made a couple of launcher review videos a while back, you might want to take a look at them. Ofcourse, many new launchers have been released since then.

Galaxy Tab Launcher working on Nook Color

So, I've been looking for a better tablet launcher for the nook color. LauncherPro doesn't cut, and I've never been a fan of ADW and its variants. So, I searched for the Galaxy Tab Launcher, and I found one that this link: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805264)
I am running CM7.0.3, and it works just fine. I think there needs to be some value editing to make the 5x5 grid spread across the whole screen and to make the app drawer take advantage of the whole screen. Also, it force closes when you select any of the dock icons. So, it needs some help, but it works well. I haven't dived into the APK yet, but I'm sure there are ways to make it take advantage of the whole screen, considering the Galaxy Tab and the nook are the same resolution.
I prefer Zeam, it works well and is really lightweight.
Zeam is laggy as hell on my nook. How did get you get the app drawer to go faster than a snail stuck in molasses in January. I can't take the lag of zeam.
Sent from my vision using XDA App
I think you're the first person I've ever seen post that Zeam is laggy. It's been faster than any other launcher for me, on both my HTC Aria and on my Nook. I've paid for both ADW EX and LP Plus, but don't use either since Zeam just runs so much smoother.
Yeah, it's buttery smooth on my 528mhz Touch Pro2 running a patched together froyo build off an SD card.

Zeam is nice, but the app drawer is a pain. Scrolls one way but lags and gets stuck.
Other than that, speedy.
Thanks!
Yea.. on the home screens its nice... app drawer is horrid. Lpp is smooth as silk for me. Interesting.

See, I normally use LPP, but the home screen for me on my NC is bad. Scrolling works fantastic, but loading it and the widgets (about 4-5) is like watching a 3 year old draw the screen.
For now, Zeam, waiting for better.
Zeam is a bit of a clunky program for me... I am using ADW EX and have no problems. It is very smooth and fast.
Go Launcher Ex is pretty good. Themes, customizable icons, speedy app drawer.
I enjoyed ADW but clicking any of the apps on the dock bar caused them to disappear (because it kept thinking I was trying to remove them) or for the dock bar itself to disappear (because it thought I was trying to hide it). I used to keep apps on the desktop just so I could repopulate the dock bar as the apps disappeared, then I gave up and started using Zeam.

Go Launcher is great, but the display grid dimension (5x5) is too low for a tablet...
I'm using it on my nexus one and I love it but on a tablet I would like a more concentrated layout...

Same here. I've always been surprised when people complain about ADW being slow. For me it's quick and as smooth as glass. And I love the 3-D home screen flipping animations. ADW EX and Fancy Widgets Pro really make for a nice environment, IMHO.
Is there a way to put a stock Froyo or Gingerbread launcher?
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.

Have you tried locking the launcher in memory? LPP has the option in it's preferences also CM7 has the option in the the settings... Worth a shot, works great for me...

[Q] Live wallpaper stops in between homescreens

I just got a 16GB WiFi HTC Flyer. It's on stock GB 2.3.3 and using Sense 2.1 for tablet. I like to use live wallpapers, and I'm certain that the flyer can handle them, but when I swipe back and forth through homescreens, the wallpaper seems to pause in between screens. I don't know if this is because of Sense or if it's perfectly normal. Anyone else experience this problem and if so how did you fix it?
Mine too, evo 3d works fine.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I believe that this is a sense issue. If you have another launcher running and a live wallpaper the transition is smooth.
Out of curiosity, what LWP are you using?
Weather on both
Sent from my HTC Flyer P512 using XDA App
I thought it may have something to do with Sense as well. I used launcher pro and tested the Sense photo blur LWP and the transition was smooth. I hope this issue is addressed in an update. It's not a huge deal but it does take away from the user experience.

I agree, its very hard not to notice it.
I believe it's because in newer versions of Sense (I think from 3.0 and above) there is a problem with the launcher can't detect the transitions or the screens' positions or something like that..
There are some wallpapers that say in the info part "not compatible with sense 3 devices"
Even in normal wallpapers you can notice that when you move from screen to another, the wallpaper remains still and doesn't show more of if you understand what i mean

Adw ex launcher widget problems.

I'm having problems with scrolling widgets recognising touch no matter what rom I'm using and this only seems to happen with adw, other launchers don't seem to have this issue. I use the Gmail widget all the time and this is something that I really would love to find an answer for. I've tried turning off gestures in the settings but the issue remains :-( .
Are any of you experiencing similar issues with adw? I'd really like to know if this is a known issue, or something tailored to my myself. Google didn't help much..........

more info. What ROM are you on? Did it just start, or did something precede the problem? Do you have the latest version of ADW from the market? Details!
Also, have you gone into the ADW settings and restored? You'll have to rebuild everything, but that might solve the problem.
I abandoned the ADW launcher after several FCs on start up running the GTask 13.1! (all versions before 10.1 worked fine)
I'm using the Go Launcher EX, until discover the solution for those FCs.
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I am using an ics rom at the moment but the same issue remained with any other rom I have run so far. The launcher is the latest and an up to date version the restore function I have tried before and again just now but the issue remains . I'm stumped.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

any news on this? I've got the same problem on my motorola xoom :/ While using the ADW launcher, WIZZ widgets sometimes scroll, sometimes not. Even if they do scroll down it's quite stuttering and slow (compared to how it works on the "stock launcher"). This is quite annoying and tbh a reason for me to switch back to stock :/

Hi
WIZZ shouldn't be used with ADW launcher, you should use : "Colorize widget"
it's from the same creator, but it is the version for people using ADW (or Go) launcher. The widgets are working very well with this one
