First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.
cheers

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Excellent work! I like the new colored signal icons. Consider possibly creating a metamorph of it, as they are very easy to update.

Thanks for the help in getting everyone started with the battery mod, now I just need to decide when enough is enough for theming icons, lol.
Anyway, I'm about to head to bed, but I'm attaching a zip with the signal icons I modded, so if anyone wants to make a metamorph, go ahead, just please give a link back to this thread when/if you post.

So I went back to stock to check and you're right. I must have imagined that.
I'll be switching back to your colored icons and battery now.
And as soon as you are done changing the icons and create a zip I'll switch to those. I like the color.

Hey again,
Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)
cheers,
=)

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.
Edit: Maybe something like this

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?
Updated OP with newest mod.
I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.
Cheers,

I just rooted and I'm running on stock. I would love to change my notification bar. Could someone explain it in detail for me. Is there a way to do it without flashing another ROM? Im planning on flashing liberty soon though. Im a noob so any descriptive help would be awesome!
Sent from my Rooted DROID2
nope, you have to flash it but its not hard...
you can use metamorph, this is what i did because i just never got around to installing a rom. I did this on my droid 2 (rooted) stock rom
This is the site i found the notification bars on, but i dont know how to change the clock, so i have a black bar and a black clock, which i dont mind to much, but it might bother you
droidpirate DOT com/category/metamorph-2/notifications-metamorph-2/
EDIT: that site also contains other morphs for things like battery skin, gps, signal... so on
remember to ALWAYS make a nandroid backup incase things dont work out as planned
Sorry wrong thread

Could you please run me through the process of using metamorph? I tried doing some research but wasn't satisfied enough to try. Do I just place say the notification bar theme in the android themes folder open metamorph and then new project, find the bar zip and click it? I hope it's that easy! Also have you run into any problems?

Hi All,
I am currently using the latest EWJet Rom and I really like it.
The only thing that surprised me was that in the previous versions, there was no transparency background (when displaying a menu, there was a dark background I could not modify).
In this version (3.5), the background uses transparency, and we get the homescreen background as a background in menus (instead of the dark).
I don't like this, I feel like I cannot ever find a background that allows me to see clearly the text in the menus.
Does anyone know how to remove this background transparency?
At the moment I just put a black background in my homescreen so that I can get a black background in the menus. So I would really enjoy a REAL solution !
Thanks
Can I get any help about this issue ?
In the recent posts of the EWJet Rom thread, someone writes something about a "no transparency zip" but I cannot find it...

Thanks for those answers, but it doesn't really help me! :-(
1) I used search before posting (even though this is my first thread on this forum, I am reading it for several months --> this is the first time I do not find the answer by myself)
2) I do not want to change Rom, I wrote that I like it. I personnaly believe it is the fastest Rom on X10.
Moreover, there was an answer to the guy who wrote about the "no transparency zip", saying that it only works for the notification bar, not for the menus.
Does anyone know how to remove transparency background in the menus ?

And yes, I mean settings ! (And system app backgrounds in general)
I do not know how you can solve this, but I am willing to learn if you can explain a little. If not, no problem, I am quite sure I will be interested in this later and search by myself.
have u tried the remove_transperacy zip provided with the OP of EWjet rom?

All you need to do is update the (i think 4) background images in the framework-res.apk and semcGenericUXP.apk (both in system/framework/) turn it back into the sony wave if you like but. on a side note.
does the rom have tinting or are the apps all FULLY transparent. eg. look at the atached pic.
the dialer part is FULLY transparent and the part where the numbers come up is 80% tinted
Pvy.
I'm on the quarx 2.16 nightly and was wondering if there's a theme out there that just makes the standard system theme have a transparent status bar (and maybe notification pull down too?)
I tried Orion theme, but don't like the miui style notification area. Is there a way to only use the status bar, but noneof the other mods (like icons, skinned dialer, etc.)?
I kinda like the simple system theme.
Thanks

Simply put no! Downloading a custom Rom is the only option @ this time.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
GoLauncherEx have that option, and it's a very nice launcher.
I don't know if there is a theme that does that, :/
Quarx added that feature to his nightlies, and the Orion theme and others w/ transparent status bars work. I'm just wondering if there's a theme out there that has the transparency, but not too many other drastic changes to the look and feel.

I'm pretty sure that a quick search on xda would have bring you some answers on this...but anyway..Read the second post of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448310
It might look long and complicated but itsn't so; it only takes 3-4 minutes to do after you've done it once...
On the first post there I even gave a transparent theme that I've moded.
Read all: pretty much every themes for cm7 can be made transparent but not every launchers support them and they might also require additional quick settings.
Cheers

Thanks,
I had read that post, but i didn't make it allthe way to the bottom, where i guess the answer i'm looking for is located. sorry. I guess I stopped reading, becasue i tought it would only work on the nightly you mentioned in the post. I was glad Quarx included the ability to have a transparent status bar, so i wasn't sure if changing all those files would be necessary.
I guess I'll get to work, figuring out which combo makes a good semi-transparent status bar. I wish there was a setting to control that (and notification area also?)
Yet another project making me step deeper into the world of Android. To think that when i got my defy (my first and only smartphone) i had no intention of rooting or anything. I guess that's what happens when the phone doesn't work well to begin w/
You can have a look here to get an idea on what to expect.
You know that an apk is basically a zip file right? So you could also get the 4 files with modified opacity (transparency) from my theme there and replace them in the SystemUI.apk of the nightly build you are using.
The only 'tricky' part in all this is to replace that SystemUI.apk on the system once those files are changed [and that you've used baksmali/smali to edit that 1 line in the statusbar.service file]. But really not a big deal with Terminal if you follow my instructions.
Lastly, I'd also suggest you to try Maniac103's latest nightly (Feb20th) because he fixed quite a few things lately and [to save you some work] I've already gave a CWM zip patch with transparency for it here - but read on there, I included 1 or 2 additional things in it like a different font... If just you just want transparency; you can pull the SystemUI.apk from the patch and use Terminal again to replace it on your phone.
EDIT: sorry! I just remembered that the patch doesn't contain those 4 modded png; only the one line change. So my theme would have transparency but not CM7 themes or others [without changing png anyway].
Anyhow: such a long answer...but if all that helped you in anyway -which I hope-, you can click that "Thanks" button
Cheers.
So I made this thread to get some feedback and stories from other people of their experiences with the ROM Toolbox app on the Samsung galaxy player 5.0/4.0 U.S. and International version. How have your experiences been? For me pretty much the app is useless because if you try to change anything it will throw you straight into a bootlopp. So before you use it remember to do a back up on you clock work mod recovery Anyway what have your experiences with the app been and what do you think of it?
On my 5.0 US using the GenericGinger rom, it doesn't cause any problems. Custom boot animations don't work on the default settings from stock, but are perfect on Entropy's kernel. You can change icons, but they don't always work correctly - I changed the battery icon to one with numbers, but now it only shows 20% increments (the icon supports 1%0). The build.prop tweaks do work - the DPI is quite handy, and it successfully blocks ads. However, some parts of the themng do not work - I have tried multiple notification backgrounds with no effect. I think it's well worth getting.
As a side note, are you running a deodexed rom? If not that may be your problem.

Yeah I'm using 2 roms actually one is Ergybits 2.3.6 based custom rom with and the other is tsnuras cm9 aokp rom. At this moment i am using the cm9 based rom, but when i was using the ergybit rom, it would always put me in a bootloop whenever I tried to change anything, i havent tried it on this one, because cm9 is pretty much customizable in every aspect so the need has gone away, but it didnt seem very useful to me. Concerning the custom boot animations, I heard that a lot of people had been having trouble with them at that in worst case scenarios it even bricked some peoples devices, so i didn't even try going near that.
