Ok I'm not a total Noob but if anyone can answer this question for me I'd be grateful.
Can I use a phone on at&t that is not offered by at&t, such as an eve from Sprint or a Droid x from version or a thunderbolt or the new Motorola razor!
At&t uses GSM which uses sim cards. Verizon and Sprint use CDMA which is a different technology. Sometimes phones will be global and have both CDMA and a GSM sim slot. My Droid 3 is global but Verizon locks US GSM carriers.
So basic if it has a sin slot and I can root it then yes, otherwise no
Hi. I have a Bell mobility Canadian S3. I am traveling to USA. I need data for using Google Navigation and internet there. Does anyone know if i can unlock my phone, buy a prepaid SIM card, and use the phone there? Is this phone compatible with t-mobile or at&t SIM cards?
ps--if it won't work, i also have an unlocked motorolla Atrix (1st gen), but the screen is fidgety and doesn't work well. Will prepaid sims work in the atrix?... then i can just use the atrix as a hotspot for the S3. Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know how to convert an existing Monthly 4g prepaid plan on a regular SIM to a micro SIM card for use on the SG3? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I live overseas and my network uses GSM 800/900/1900/2100 and UMTS 850/1900 (sams as AT&T)
All Verizon Razr come with SIM slot?
Are they UMTS 850/1900 compatible? Will I get 3G and H data?
What about Razr MAXX? Does it come with SIM slot?
I need to SIM unlock it or is it ready to put any micro SIM?
Hope you can enlighten me with this info.
Best Regards.

the cdma and gsm razr both have the same razr, with the cdma razr on ics you can use non U.S. sims no problem. so if you are oversea from the us you could get the branded cdma razr cheap, put it on ICS and use your sim. it should get 3g/H as my razr (gsm did with an at&t sim) so in global mode the cdma should
(don't take me a100% on this, but i am sure from what i read, but i am in the us. so i can't test it myself. maybe wait till someone else chimes in)

Thanks for your reply.
I am asking this (and so is my friend on the post above this one) because Verizon CDMA phones are always cheaper than GSM.... even cheaper if the have BAD ESN...
So, every Motorola RAZR have micro SIM Slot? Are they unlocked or I need to buy the code? Do you remember the Droid 2 Global? Those had SIM slot's but some of them had they unlock code changed and were IMPOSSIBLE to unlock... hope this is not the case with the RAZR.

from what i've read on the forums you need to either put the verizon razr on ice cream sadwhich (4.0.4) or use the hack to enable global mode in gingerbread (2.3.x)
so no unlock code. and yes, the verizon razr uses the micro sim for 4g lte sim

i have the gsm version (xt910, sorry i wasn't as clear about that as i thought, i said gsm, should've put xt910)
the xt910 has the cdma disabled and the xt912 has american gsm blocked.
and I've seen a few people claiming they flashed an xt910 to a cdma network like metro (it does have the radio, and couldn't the flashing program give them the esn/ect?
but i use it on simple mobile (so only edge for me. i might go to t-mobiles $50 plan if the non throttled edge is faster)
Is the verizon sim card in the dna phone a typical sim card or is it special in some way-I have not fooled with it at all. Would it work in other phones that use sim cards...like my old HTC Inspire 4G (rooted) or at least another verizon phone? I know I could swap sims in and out of ATT phones before I switched carriers.
The only special thing about the SIM is that its a Micro-SIM, rather than a Mini-SIM; meaning its smaller. You can buy adapters that allow you to put the Micro Sim back into a Mini SIM device. I do such with my GNex and XOOM tablet.
Well every carrier have their own sim cards for free
