Just upgrade to HC using Globatron's method. Still exploring the new features. Found the widgets on HC are all awkwardly sized. Anyway to resize them? The only one I was able to resize to fit the screen is the Gmail widget. Ideas?
Thanks!
how are they awkwardly sized? i didn't have any widget issues going from GB to HC
what are you trying to achieve?
One more question. Did not want to start a new thread for a question
Honeycomb sense UI - How to add pages or screens? We have only 5
I don't think that you can either resize widgets or add/subtract the number of home screens.
I am happy with the widgets that I have for the most part but I would like to get rid of some home screens.
You can't make folders either.

You can't add screens but what I noticed (in my case) is that I can have the same amount of info using less screens because all the HTC widgets are that awkward narrow size instead of having a full screen option (so I have 2 per screen instead of just one). It seems like the official Google widgets are resizable (somebody mentioned the Gmail one - the Voice one also does this). Unfortunately HTC didn't seem to get that memo.

I just installed CM7 on my Nook and I'm trying to get my home screen setup. For some reason there seems to be a lot of wasted space between rows. Is there anyway to adjust this? My widgets are also getting stretched way across the screen.
You are using Gingerbread, not ICS, so no, widget is not resizable.
You can move it, you can stretch it and it snaps automatically in a certain region.
I know it's ugly, I feel you.

I use ADW.Launcher EX on my nook and it works wonderfully. You can.change the amount of columns and rows that the desktop has and then drag Widgets to resize them. You can also set it to use HDPI.Icons on the MDPI Nook and it makes them look big and clear. I would recommend spending the money on it, its worth it.

Is there a calendar widget like in sense that covers the whole screen? I tried a few but they dont get bigger when u edit them they take up more space.
I was looking for that too. The only one I have found so far comes in Android Pro Widgets.
thanks looks good
Do u know a full screen mail one like the sense one?
i dont know if this helps you but i use calengoo. it tkaes up the whole screen works well with google calendar or native android calendar.

has various sizes, you can also resize to fit full homescreen - if your launcher permits
Hi,
"Days Left" widget,EndNote and "Astrid" are intermittently re-sizing themselves GB HTC Flyer. They had the same behavior before and after root. Cleared and reloaded and still they resize themselves. They return to normal after restart then resize after a while. All the other widgets are stable.
How can I get them to stay one size?
Thanks for any suggestions!
*Attached are pics of the normal larger size and the smaller size they will re-size to after a few hours.
Logic says, it's the widgets having fault coding that causes the issue. I suggest you contact their developers for an answer and that in the meantime, you make use of other widgets with similar functionality.
Work around...

Thanks, I never heard back from the devs for those apps so I tried running Honeycomb instead of GB and the problem has not come back.
I have noticed that all my home screen widgets/icons look like they are spaced too far apart like there is too much padding.
Either the icons/widgets are too small or I should be able to fit an additional row/column.
Anyone else notice this? Or am I missing any easy fix?

you prob aren't used to this screens display.
I notice this also. Especially on the Beautiful Widgets home.
Hoping it's just the launcher.

Yes, higher resolution means you should be able to fit more on a display. There is def enough room to fit another row, in fact I tried apex launcher and I was able to fit another row. Just like how I would prefer the app drawer to have 5 columns since there is enough room.
I would stick with apex, but it doesnt seem to support sense (or 5 col drawer)

I'm very interested in this one too. I had reservations on it though with things being packed a little tight. We'll have to see how it turns out. You da man Andybones
It's strange because some widgets still look great, like pure calendar widget. But some don't. Almost like they hard coded the pixel usage.

some widgets can be resized.
like the calendar and task widgets for instance
even the resizable ones are limited to the grid spacing.
I'm really looking for an extra row on the home screen (and an extra col on the drawer).
I got my phone after they stopped allowing bootloader unlock so I guess I won't be able to take advantage of any mods that people come up with.
I was hoping someone knew of an app like apex_launcher but also supported sense widgets (like clock) and had a 5 col drawer.
I've been using a 5col drawer on my orig Inc for a while with no issues so I assume with this bigger higher res screen, it should be fine.
I think you may see some things like that in the future. But the resolution is the key to making the launchers work like that. Until the launcher devs write something to work for our resolution we'll be screwed for a while

apex launcher seemed to work fine for adding another row.
the issue is I didnt seem to find a way to add the HTC clock widget or any HTC widgets.
I assume that problem would apply to anyone

There is no other launcher capable of running HTC widgets.

This is absolutely correct. HTC widgets are actually HTC Sense. Launching with any other launcher effectively (but doesn't kill it completely) disables sense. A better way of putting it is, if you use a 3rd party launcher you are giving up the use of all HTC Sense applications/widgets etc.
Sense is the ui, another launcher disables that ui (again, effectively disables. It's still running the processes in the background, just not the fancy widgets)
This is why GoLauncher and all the others, have their own widgets. Those widgets don't work within Sense.

I see thanks. I ended up using golauncher for a while.
I like apex but it doesnt support extra column in the app drawer where golauncher does.
The downside to golauncher is that it doesnt have full ICS support (menu button)
While fooling around trying out different launchers, i have found a real gem.

It's a cool launcher but if you disable the persistent search bar, you can't drag anything to the top of the screen.
That blows.
It's alright, but missing a lot of features that Nova and Apex have so I won't be able to use it. I can't get the Sense widgets sized appropriately to where they are not stretched or having elements overlapping despite messing with the row/column settings. Other things like not being able to change the app drawer icon, and so forth are a bother.

U can resize the widgets.
Icon packs for nova/apex can be used as well.
There r some niggling issues with this launcher, however if you want to use sense widgets and not sense launcher then it your only choice.

Tried it. Hated it.
Alignment was off on text and icons on adjacent screen, it kept reverting to default screen setup after arranging it with my setup, saw some screen redraw, and weather widget text and graphics were way out of line.
If these were fixed, i'd maybe try it again.
