Cellphone ~ 300€ (Optimus 2X or ATRIX?) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there guys and girls,
First of all, I don't really know if I should ask that here, or ask it at all
Anyway, I want to buy my first smartphone, and I would like that to be a dual-core android.
I am really getting a haedache for my choice... I currently am between ATRIX and Optimus 2X.
Which has better support? (Ofc I mean support from XDA-Developers.com)
Are there any other android smartphones that are dual-core and worth buying at this price range?
Please help
P.S.: For once more I am sorry If I posted in a wrong section but I couldn't find the right one. Be kind with me mods :}
P.S.2: I just realised that I wrote cellphone and not smartphone in the thread title. -_-

Hmm, any thoughts?

I should choose the optmus 2x i don't know why but i think that, that phone get better support

The O2x in my opinion. LG's software end isnt great but with MIUI or CM, it is a brilliant phone.
Also, LG announced that the O2X is getting the ICS upgrade in the first quarter of 2011

But, isn't it going to be tough for the 512RAM of LG to handle the ICS?

Yeah but it a dual core device.....I have a gwx ...which is the same as the o2x and its amazing.

[Q] What will be your next Android phone?

It's not a secret that the Optimus One is getting long in the tooth and several hacks and workarounds are undertaken just to make it as usable as most new phones in the market. That said, what is your planned upgrade path?
If I get enough money, I like the HTC Evo 3D.
Though I think of switching to desire z or defy or galaxy s or dell steak(bigger screen fascinates me) , I have second thoughts again and again.
I feel we already have gingerbread, good 3d, good internal memory via 1gb ext partitions, 512 mb ram. Sound is great now with gb too.
So what will we get after upgrading. I believe a bigger screen, flash support, dlna, 720p video recording. But then I think how frequently will I use them. After thinking this I just become satisfied with my present o1.

I am considering the nexus s but I am a little disappointed in the fact there its no external sd slot so if not I will wait for tmobile to get a duo core 4g phone

Same here.. I would get any phone with 1ghz processor or even Samsung galaxy S.

QWERTY droids are starting to look good to me. I'm getting pretty tired of touchscreen typing so if I will stick with Android (for now I'm not really sure I want Android anymore) it will be either a QWERTY one or a 4-4.3" one for precise typing (thin chances because I'm tired of poor battery life).
All i can say is it will not be any LG, just coz they made us w8 for Android 2.3.

Please, consider that this is a low end phone and that there are 5+ different versions of this phone. Many high end phones don't even have 2.3 officially announced. We have an estimated time with videos of the official gingerbread. No reason to hate LG. I would much rather have a finished bug free update then bug full one. It's annoying that people are putting LG/this phone down because of the 2.3 update. This phone is zippy for what it has and LG has done a great job.
This phone pretty much satisfies my needs, I'll probably buy another in a year or so, so whatever looks good then I'll buy it
I am very pleased with my Optimus. I like the Nexus S but can't justify the cost. If I were to break my Optimus T I'd buy another one now that it's $50 cheaper than when I bought mine back in November ;(.

Colleague has an Galaxy S2 and the screen is captivating. Wow. With a mod or two that phone will pwn.
I'm not planning buying a new phone anytime soon. I'll propably keep my O1 at least until xmass.
It was my first android (ex symbian fanboy) and I didn't want to spend much money in case i didn't like it (but I fell in love with it) but my next android will definetly be a high-end phone.
Dual core, wvga, hdmi capabilities etc. If I was to buy a new phone now I'd choose optimus x2. A friend of mine got it few days ago and I like it very much

The O1 really is a potent Android gateway drug. Knowing the power of this OS, I wouldn't settle on less than high-end for my next Android phone.
I like my O1 Thankfully it was a right choice, It does everything i want too, And now that its overclocked its performing without any lags, Add to that Gingerbread.... its Got Juice for another year or so...
My next Phone will not be android, I'll keep my O1 as my secondary phone and Get that Awsome Nokia N9 with meego they are going to release this year

LG Optimus Successor Already?

http://phandroid.com/2011/07/12/lg-optimus-pro-and-lg-optimus-net-get-official-overview-videos/
Supposedly the LG Optimus Net is the successor to the O1. Kinda mad that the O1 is still fairly new and there's already a successor to this beast, but it isn't really much better.
The only changes:
- 800mhz cpu processor
- Comes with Gingerbread
- New design?
Not much to call it the "evolution" of the P500, I´m pretty sure that CPU it´s still ARMv6.

That should of been what the O1 should of had when it came out really.. I hope they don't forget the O1 because people would probably buy that over the O1.
It's an O1 with a maybe better shape and an 800 Mhz cpu... It has Bluetooth 3.0 and maybe we have 2.0 but I'm not sure about that...
Anyway LG said that this gingerbread update for O1 was the last update so net or not net our phone won't get any other update.
Bluetooth 3.0
Wifi b/g/n..
What makes me envy is that is i my O1 40 days old & 800mhzz default clock...gggrrrrhhhh....
Most important the new LG maybe wont have the dust problem and the crappy sound quality.

And No Touch Screen bug. I really hope LG can get their brand as high as Samsung, Moto, and HTC. Right now they have a pretty good low end device line, but they are lacking their high-end devices. Many LG devices are plagued with bugs and build quality issues and it sucks because I believe LG has good intentions and I want people to regret pushing LG away as an option.
Optimus net may lead us to official updates beyond 2.3.3.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
This phone has just 3.6 Mbps hsdpa speed.
not even a year that O1 is out and already a replacement..how typical
I checked the specs from gsmarena and indeed it uses an armv6.
Im not judging it as a phone but there is no reason for someone to go and buy it if already has an O1.
O1 is still having plenty juice in it for a low end device and by this move lg is like pushing aside their current customers.
Even Optimus net 2.3.3 can reveal something for us. Because our official gb is not very fast. May be Optimus net gb will be more fine tuned and speedy. LG will also put a slight higher price on it.
If its gb version turns out to be better than ours, and assuming it has the same specs as ours, this may offer one more area for fun and development.

What do you mean by support? If its further software upgrades, then no. LG never really provided support for our phone actually. Even their PC Suite is unusable. Even though O1 is a good phone, I was pretty much deceived by it after purchasing it. I don't think I'll ever buy another phone from LG in the future.

it's just a msm7227 turbo <==> armv6, the only real difference is the clock frequency.
lol ive just wanted to start this thread after hearing the news.
my optimus one is already sold and like i said i want to buy galaxy gio as a replacement. then the i heard the lg optimus net comes out(and lg optimus pro). i check that gio and net has same specs but net has higher ram 512mb.
so should i wait and buy optimus net than galaxy gio?
do anyone know whats the price of lg optimus net? is it price nearly the same as galaxy gio. if it is, i will grab it
I read that the pricing will be 199 Euros ~ 278,184$, though actually I'm not sure if I read 199 Euros or 199$.

As some ppl already said its still a Qualcomm MSM7227T chipset clocked at 800mhz
Full specs
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_net-4043.php
The camera has been lowered to 3.15 and the internal memory to 150mb I´m really disspointed of this because i really thought LG would make a real new O1 with more specs like 3.5" screen with 16M colors, led flash, frontal cam, ARMv7 800mhz proc, and keeping it budget, more like a step between the actual O1 and the Motorola Defy, but this really sucks, the only good thing is that maybe this device gets Ice Cream Sandwich and maybe it could be ported to the O1.

I wouldn't jump ship before trying out the phone though. Maybe try to see how games run on it since the O1 was plagued by the multi touch bug and see if that exists. For price it wouldn't be much more higher than the O1.

[Q] Optimus SOl (E730) will it be possible to install ICS?

Hello,
First of all i wanna say i couldn't find any thread about LG optimus sol (E730).
My question is "Will it be possible for this phone to run ICS ever?"
And by that i mean is there any chance for LG to update the phone or is any dev willing to bring an ICS rom to this device or are there ROMS from other LG phones that are compatible to this one?
I am considering buying this phone so any answer/advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Don't buy it , no Dev support and lg will take years to provide ics upgrade x
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I just bought it. I'll know more in a few days I think but so far is a decent choice for its price. The phone appeared only at the end of September so I think this is the explanation for the fact that there are no custom ROMs. I guess in few months we'll know if it will be a hit and will get better support from LG or our beloved devs. If only the phone will repeat at least half of the success story of Optimus One we'll be lucky....
It will get an official ICS update in the 2nd quarter of 2012, together with the P990 and that PRADA phone. The P970 and the Optimus 3D will get an ICS update in the 3rd quarter.
I'd like to post the Source, but i only have 2 posts, so i'm not allowed to post outside links... so... yeah, just check LGs Facebook page:
Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS Upgrade Schedule said:
LG will be offering the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS upgrade for a range of LG smart-phones which were introduced this year. The global upgrade schedule will begin in the second and third quarters of 2012, which will be followed by a global roll out.
During the second quarter of 2012 upgrades will begin for the following smartphone models: the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse. These upgrades will be followed by upgrades for the following smartphone models during the third quarter of 2012: the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus Black, the LG Optimus Big, the LG Optimus Q2 and the LG Optimus EX.
LG will be taking all possible measure to offer a smooth OS upgrade in a timely manner. The exact start dates can vary by market, as each country can have different requirements, depending on the carrier and the smartphone model.
LG would like to thank its customers for their most valued loyalty and support. Further details on the ICS OS upgrade, including their exact start dates, will be released prior to their commencement. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
Thank you.

It offers quite a decent bang for the buck, but indeed, it has very little dev support so far. I'd probably fork out a little more dough and get the P990 instead.
PS: Of course the release dates are to be taken with a grain of salt - it's LG after all.
i just bought th optimus sol and I have to say it blew my mind. I previously owned an LG optimistic one. I find smartphone with 4 inch displays to be a bit too large for me. It is very fast and I am glad it will recieve ICS after all.
Really this phone does not deserve any attention from the XDA community? There is no thread allocated but only mentioned in a few posts. That's a shame...
Probably this phone will catch attention but in the near future.
It is really a nice phone for its price

[Q] looking to buy an android phone

hi guys.. i am looking to buys an android phone but i am stuck between galaxy s2 motorola razr and optimus 2x. i want a phone which is closest to being unbrickable and has more custom roms etc. plz suggest me what phone should i buy. thanks
I think that the most unbrickable and mod addicted phone is o2x.. luckily lg legalized root and mods so you'll never lose your warranty
Sent by my Optimus 2x using Tapatalk
I suppose my favorite would be the Droid Razr, just because it's been getting a lot of good credit lately, although you wouldn't be going wrong with any of those phones.
thanx mate i think i will go for o2x its cheaper then the rest and tegra2 is really fun for a gamer like me. just want to know if the 512 ram is enough? specially in future after ICS update will it be able to handle that. also it had a bug in the beginning which hangs the screen and often reboots automatically. has that been solved ??
512MB RAM should be enough for pretty much anything - these days, that is. I wouldn't worry too much about it since in a couple years you're likely to replace the phone, right?
If you are going to spend the money on the razr I would suggest going with the HTC Rezound. HTC has a huge following of dedicated developers, plus they allow you to unlock your phones from their website.
I suggest you rather take a HTC.The support for the custom roms is much more important than other manufacturers. Like hobble said, the HTC Rezound could be a good choice, but there is another phone I could suggest you if you are ready to wait one or two months, the Xiaomi MI-One, for the price : 250-300Euros. (specs : Dual core to 1,2 or 1,5 GHz, 4" SLCD, 1GB RAM...)
6 months would be a record for me. lol
anyway thanks got o2x finally very happy with it works like a charm
thanx guys i finally got o2x. budget phone and i am really enjoying it. lg is not a bad company after all. had a bad perception abt them

L9 or L9 II?

Hey guys, Im going to buy the L9 but I still think about L9 II, I dont want to buy any other phone just L9 but now that L9 II is soon to be released im curious. There is not going to be much of a difference between those 2 I guess so I dont know whether I should wait or buy L9 now. In both cases I"ll wait for it to be released, because its supposed to be released eartly september, and then I'll wait some more for L9 II if I decide for that or maybe the price of L9 will go down a little and then buy it.
What do you think? Thanks

Well yeah, thats why I began to think about it in the first place. But I dont really care about 0.4GHz, 3 MPx or HD resolution. I dont need extra performance cause I dont play any high requirements games or anything. The thing why I consider it is that its going to be new model, so hopefully some of those little issues that L9 had will be fixed, 4.1 android preinstall and expected 4.2, 4.3 updates.
But the thing is how long could it take from release date to appear in shops? And what about the price? I found some shops already selling it for around 270€ which is 50€ more than I would pay for new L9 now. Would it be worth those 50€? Because I really wouldnt like to wait for big price drop again. Im really confused now

Well basically i have similar requirements to urs. I already sent an order for the l9. I think the l9 II is better but everything depends on the price factor. I think the L9 was supposed to launch with jb, but LG decided to put ICS so that they make it officially upgradeable to JB, so now they are not really entitled to update the L9. At best the L9 could receive an official 4.2.2 but idk.

Well I was practically decided that Im going for L9, I ordered a case and screen protectors but thats not a problem. I was waiting for a little price drop.
Btw Adreno 305 is better than PowerVR SGX540?
According to the new leaked pictures, it should have a capacitive home button instead of a mechanical one on L9. But I'm going to wait for a release, if its not going to be now at IFA then Im going for L9. If its going to be, then Im curious how its going to look but mostly when its going to be available and what the price tag will be. If its going to be around 270€ (360$) then it would be ok. But there wont be any reviews yet, hopefully its going to be just as good as L9 and even little better.
Yeah thats why Im considering it, the updates would be a plus over L9.

Ofc the adreno 3xx series ought to outperform the PowerVR (But im not that much techy but i still think the adreno 305 surpasses it). Basically its a nice upgrade to the L9. If the price is reasonable go for it, otherwise the L9 is pretty much how most android phones should at minimum be (though the 5mp camera sux a bit).
The nexus 4 just fell to $200 which is cheaper then the l9 and will probably be better than the l9 2 (and cheaper)

Thats nice price, in my country they are all much higher. L9 I has physical button, L9 II will probably have capacitive home button. So I'll probably wait for that to come Or nexus 4, tho I dont like the design.
Guys, how is the Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305 in terms of performance? Cause I just watched the first review that I found of L9 II and they said that since the CPU is energy saving, the newer games might not work that well.
Is that true? I though that snapdragon in pair with adreno 305 could be pretty good, I know that its made with 28nm technology which should enhance battery life but is it also related to performance?
So after I heard this, I wonder if it will be more powerful than L9? Or its not true?
Thanks for answer.
