[Q] Can I turn a Focus S to running Android? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this possible?
I was thinking of getting the focus S (which is so much cheaper), and putting Android on it. Same hardware isn't it?
If I just gave you guys this idea, I want the credit for it

I Think its not Possible to Port Android to that Phone, because it dont has the Same Hardware.
Ive Read it Just has a Singlecore Cpu etc
And it dont uses an Exynos Prozessor its a Qualcomm Chipset

Will the X10 Camera abilities transfer to a rooted phone?

If it will, then I'm buying one. SE really only has it's cybershot tech thats valuable in this phone. But I figure that rooting it will probably loose all that excellent photo-capture software, right? Before my G1, I had the SE k800i Cybershot phone that had amazing image capture abilities.

Wrong.
Why should it?
Figured that was so proprietary that the source files wouldn't be editable? because its so hardware-specific?
If I can keep hacking away at the X10 like I do with my G1 and get better camera stuff, and a snapdragon processor, then I'm in.
The only thing that would hold me back is the talk of Samsung's new phone having a processor that may be 3x as fast as snapdragon.

3x gpu power. not cpu power
it all boils down to triangles. i myself prefer polygons.
The rooting has nothing to do with those features. They will be preserved. Chill.
If somebody needs the systemdump of a X10, PM me!
And what exactly can you guys do with a systemdump?

[Q] Porting Galaxy Win Pro G3812 ROM to Galaxy WIN I8552

Dear friends,
while searching i found that G3812 is very much similar to our i8552. the major difference in hardware is that it has 512 mb extra ram, hdmi port and better resolution.
the most important difference is that it has 4.2.2 for which we all are so crazy about.
the differences can be seen here.

the rom for G3812 can be downloaded at samsung-updates.com.
is it possible?

It has a different cpu... it might be possible to port it, but I doubt a little.
oh, i missed the CPU part.
i'm just a newbie and i don't understand much about porting,
but is it still possible that some of our developer can just check on it and try it out.
keeping fingers crossed.

[Q] Qualcomm/MediaTek Difference

Everywhere I go I see guide for porting ROMs/recoveries/etc and they're all for MTK devices, and I don't mean to be a noob but I want to know why they are so different. I know they have a different chipset, but they all run android and should all correspond to the same rules. Could anyone experienced give me an overview of what the difference is between Qualcomm and Mediatek devices that makes it so much easier to build for Mediatek.
There is a difference at the GPL policy as I read somewhere... whereas quallcomm is open-source and mediatek isn't?
Also quallcomm is much further at Hardware level in comparison to Mediatek, In which Mediatek serves for a good low-cost replacements for infamous brands.
Also the energy consumption is less then Quallcomm's
But the difference for those 2 sorts, I couldn't say anymore then I told you .

MediaTek phone posrting, whats the deal?

I heard that MediaTek phones are different to port to?
I want to learn porting to phones and have a phone with a mediatek processor, a chinese phone, I don't minds a challenge, but I've heard phones with MediaTek requires a different approach, can anyone enlighten me whats different if there is any?

Is it possible to make your own custom android phone by joining parts???

Hi I really love android so is it possible to make android phone by ourselves like a custom model or something. Has anyone tried it ? Thanks
If you have access to all the electronic components that are 100% compatible with each other, sure why not. But it's not like slapping together a PC where you just install a motherboard, CPU, GPU and you're good to go. I mean are you talking about like, entirely 100% completely from scratch?
There are companies that will create a phone for you based on your specifications, but if you mean like, taking the camera of a Sony phone, the motherboard of a Samsung phone, the CPU from a Huawei phone, and slapping it all together into some Frankendroid, no that's definitely not going to happen.
