This very well may be an OS issue, but I figured I'd bring it up here in case it only pertains to the Titan.
To be clear, this is an unlocked AT&T HTC Titan. Not a Euro or any other import version.
I am trying to get my MMS to work on I-Wireless. Data works and everything, it's the MMS that's giving me a hard time. The HTC app doesn't seem to be setting the MMS up correctly, and I can't set it manually.
This is what I would need to put in manually,

Seeing as you all have Titans, I don't think I need to list the very limited Cellular APN.
Help? :/ I really don't want to jailbreak my brand new phone.

OS level fault, I'm assuming htc connect has failed you?
Yes, and after reading more into the OS forum I've found at least one solution...which I have no idea how to implement
I'll go ahead and move over to the OS side.

Actually I've had it fail to install the settings from my o2 sim, they've updated it twice since so it hasn't always worked as expected.
ive got the same problem. AT&T unlocked phone running on T-Mobile. wont sent mms
Hmm. And you've already tried setting it up in settings>cellular>apn settings?
Odd. There is probably some hidden diagnostic program, but I don't know of anyone who has found it. ##DATA# doesn't yield any settings to change, so it might be something else.
I had the same problem in the UK with O2 due to the fact that they wont support the phone yet as they have not released it.. I just put the settings into APN and it now sends and recieves MMS without a problem. I was so fustrated at first when O2 sent me a message saying to contact them for settings then told me they couldn't supply me with details.. Only had the phone for 4 days very happy with it now

Odd I didn't have to manually setup on O2 and as it sets up the same way as the hd7 which is carrier specific a bit ****ty on O2's part
I have same problem on my titan. No HTC connection setup in marketplace and no other options to modify MMSC, proxy and some other things. =(
Any ideas?

If you're sim is from a main operator not a virtual provider a hard reset may fix the mms issue otherwise at the moment there isn't a wy to fix this without modding the registry, you could of course contact HTC and ask why connection setup wasn't provided on your phone.

HTC connection setup was appeared in marketplace later and it set current carrier automatically.
Now MMS is working fine.

hi,
i would like to configure the network internet services into my phone. im using the HTC HD2(Sim free). i bought a 3sim card which on Unlimited internet plan. i did call the 3 call centre, unfortunately they can be of help as the phone is 'Non-3' registered phone and did asking me to caotact the HTC itself for configuration. Thought anyone here could help me to configure the network internet into my phone please..
thanks in advance
cheers
That's ridiculous, and I'm sorry to say, it doesn't suprise me when it comes to 3. They're notorious for not giving a monkey's about their customers once they've got them.
3 may not be able to tell you how to configure a phone that they don't sell, and that's a more than fair comment, but they certainly are 100% responsible for giving you the information your phone needs in order to use their network. Ring them back and tell them you need APN settings. This has got nothing to do with HTC.
Either that, or you may find a kind soul on here that is on the same plan as you and can give you their settings off their phone. The only thing they won't be able to give you is the password (if there is one), but it's probably "password" anyway.
Hope you get it sorted mate, but it really is 3's responsibility to give you this info.

yeah.. call HTC???? definitely wont help either. kinda dissapointed though..but wait, the agent did mention me about the APN... he said : three.co.uk(not sure weather its 3.co.uk or three.co.uk). yeah, i remember that.. the reason that didnt remember it because, you know, some call centre, not a english people, i think he's Indian. cant understand his slang.
yeah, i probably wait for someone genius here who had the same plan and same phone with me to sort it out.
cheers mate..

Hey,
I'm trying to access the internet using the mobile data and so on but it seems I can't get it working. I've tried adding an APN which I used on my Android device but that fails also, anyone got any ideas?
Ps. I'm new to WP7
Grab "Connection Setup" off Marketplace, that alloed me to get my Voda APN settings even though i have an Orange branded Mozart.

I've seem to of able to get myself the internet connection via mobile data when off WiFi. Is there a way for MMS to work as well or?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but as i said before, the connection setup program sorted my APN and MMS settings perfectly...

When I run the connection setup and select the one that I'm on and so on, the internet doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure If I'm suppose to do anything after that or wait? But when I add a manual APN in for the net it then starts working.
MMS = Just tells me it can't send.
Not quite sure why but I can't seem to be able to use the internet or the official twitter application when trying to connect via mobile data. The twitter application tells me an error as occurred and the web pages don;t even load.
I unlocked this as it was locked to Orange so I could use on the O2 network, I've tried using the HTC application and that doesn't seem to change anything or fix the problem.
Under the APN I have the following:
APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username: payandgo
Password: password
Data Connection: On
3G Connection: On
So I upgraded from the Titan to the Titan 2. Both are unlocked on Telus for use here in Toronto.
On the Titan 2 trying to run the HTC Connection app fails. On my original Titan it configures fine. On my Titan 2 MMS fails and group texting. On my original Titan it works fine.
I feel that essentially they are the same phone so it should work on both unless there are hardware changes be. I took out my sim card to test these functions and it just doesn't make sense. And why would the Titan 2 not recognise my carrier while the original Titan would?
APP "connection setup" does not work on Titan II
APP "connection setup" can run well on a Titan to fix MMS problem, but it does not work on Titan II. It shows Carrier does not exist in database. Do anyone know how to fix it? Or we can only wait for HTC update this APP?
BTW, I unlocked my phone using code to use a non ATT sim.

Glad to know it's not just my phone only having this issue. I'm wondering if we should call HTC on this one?
Is there any way to manually configure the APN setting? I will be getting a Titan 2 for use in UK and would love to know how to get around this.
Yes you can manually configure the APN but those settings are very limited in comparison to Android phones. There is no seperate settings for data and MMS.
Btw, I called HTC support. They are unaware of the issue. They found it strange and were unable to help me. I asked for the protocol to escalate the issue to ensure HTC is made aware of it and he asked me to send an email through support so I have. I guess we'll see what happens.

WP7 sets your settings APN DATA/MMS on the first start (after a factory reset). If you have a known common carrier then the settings are loaded automatically, but if you had AT&T and then unlocked and simply swapped sims (obviously everybody does) the titan or for that matter any wp7 phone does not change the MMS settings.
"Automatic Data Configuration" is run on the first-run then disabled until the next factory reset.
I have ENERGY rom, pretty cool rom! Anyways I have an issue. I was using my usb tethering to download a different rom. It was speeding, 1mb/s
Then all of a sudden I started getting text messages from t mobil saying if I want to use tethering I need to pay 15 bucks a month. This was not the case before and I do not use tethering often.
Did I raise a red flag or is this just an OS glitch?
It's a t-mobile wanting you to pay thing, you can get around it, not that hard,
I know that but the free tethering feature is included in NRG rom, why would all of a sudden it stop working?

The app is free because it's a stock app but the service isn't free. It's not hard to comprehend..

Comprehend? lol Your not even understanding what I am asking, you should re-read what I asked. I asked, it was working before and now it is no longer working, why? Was it because I was tethering to my computer and was downloading a file that was downloading at an abnormally fast speed? File did not download, it stop half way, and that's when I started getting the t-mobil message.

Interesting, thank you hasoon2000 I do appreciate your time and help, your the best I will try that now and see how it goes. I am still curious, how can they block/bypass the free tethering hack?
Update-
I followed the instructions to the letter, and I am still unable to tether. I do have 2 questions that the guide does not answer.
I created a new APN using these settings
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy:
Port:
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)
Server: (leave this blank)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: (leave this blank)
I then went and downloaded the Wifi teather app and performed the following.
1. Install the app.
2. Open WiFi Tether.
3. Press the Menu Button.
4. Click Settings.
5. Click "Change Device-Profile".
6. If you are on Gingerbread, choose your Actual Device!
6.1 If you are on Ice Cream Sandwich, choose "Generic ICS".
7. If you are on T-Mobile, Scroll down and MUST select "Routing Fix".
7.1 Depending on your Carrier, you may need to select Routing Fix.
8. Tether away! (Just don't go over your data!)
Instructions number 6, I have 2 Generic ICS/JB, one called Generic ICS/JB wlan0 and Generic ICS/JB WLAN1. I went with 0.
Under APN, I see the new one I created (T-Mobil US) and I see the original one (T-Mobile Data), I can select between the 2. But I also see a third one that I can not select called T-Mobile MMS. I selected T-Mobile US, didn't work, went to T-Mobile Data, didn't work either.
I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?
I was having the same problem but the APN trick alone worked. I created a new APN named "Sneaky", but I didn't set the MMSC, or even have the option for MMS Protocol. With these changes alone the stock app works again. I don't even use an aftermarket 1. All my other setting are the same as yours. Maybe having TMobile in the name? Seems stupid but not sure why it wouldn't work for you...

My comprehension is fine. You get the message because Tmo detected that you're tethering without the tethering plan. So, like I said before, the app is free but the service is not. The work around that Hasoon informed us does work, for me anyway. Good luck.

You pointed out the obvious without providing a solution or an answer to my question. You did comprehended the 2nd time though and answered it, which I appreciate. I already know I am not paying for a service, I am merely curious as to why it stopped working. I figured they might have some sort of system that detects miss usage or something which you just now confirmed.
For whatever reason it is still not working after using the setting above. Somewhat angry at T-Mobil, they have screwed up my service for the most part of the year, and some idiot made a dmistake on my account, which resulted on the creation of a second account (not an add on line) a few years ago, which was put on military suspension (I'm not in the military and I did not put the hold) soon after it was opened, and now they are charging 154 bucks for using the line. I never even knew that line existed and I have had 3 reps tell me they screwed up yet they will not do anything about the fact that they sent me to collection without first discussing it with me. T-Mobil about to get sued on the first of November if it hits my credit, lawyer confirm I can sue them. Trying so hard to solve this issue with them and they just don't want to do anything about it even after admitting their mistake.
It's still not working, if its working for you and many others, why wouldn't it work for me? Should I delete the default APN?
Damn, that's sucks. If you have the 5gb data plan or even unlimited then you can ask if the tethering plan option is free. I believe another work around is to make the phone think that your tethering to another Android device. I seen that posted somewhere and will have to dig to find out how they achieved it using a laptop.
Anyone else can chime in if they already have that info available off hand.

Hi guys,
I don't know where else to ask this, it has me totally stumped.
I just changed from O2 to Tesco pay monthly and I can't get my AOL and Gmail accounts to connect.
I've talked through the APN settings with Tesco but they're unable to figure it out either.
I can connect to the internet OK via a browser but my email accounts return an error when I go to inbox and send/receive:
"Cannot Connect", "Cannot connect with current connection settings, to change your conection settings, tap settings"
I've been through it many times without success.
My mail accounts are set up properly, they were working with the O2 SIM, and they connect fine and send/receive over WiFi.
Am I missing something?
(I also have 3 native SD android roms installed on the HD2, they won't even connect to the internet despite my best efforts, phone calls work fine though).
I put the Tesco SIM in an old Wildfire, and it configured correctly straight away
Spent all day googling and trying to figure this out
Help. :crying:
What was the settings they gave you ?
Was it WAP based internet .
What WM ROM are you using, do you have the HTC connection setup link in Settings>Connections as that has Tesco Mobile settings can auto install them.

Thanks for replying
APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
Username: tescowap
Password: password
Proxy 193.113.200.195
Port 8080
Yes, I believe it's WAP based.
Rom = 1.66.405.2 WWE
Radio = 2.15.50.14
Yes, I have the connection setup link and I've cleared/reset the database several times.
I also went into Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks and removed all the previous modem settings.
I've used the database settings and also the ones sent by Tesco by text.
Tesco seem to be pretty good, their helpline operator ran through all the settings using his onscreen WM6.5 representation of the HD2's menus (I was surprised they just didn't say "not supported"), but it still doesn't work.
I'm wondering if it could be the Radio Rom, as none of my Android Roms will connect to the internet, (although WM does)
It would be a major task to hard reset, as I have some critical work apps installed and configured just right, so I don't want to do that unless there's no other choice.
If you get another providers sim to work on internet then I doubt it device or radio but rather settings as WAP & proxy is a bit of a pain.
Try the following (I hope has small variation on what you may of tried already !, be sure double check typing & make sure the modem connection has the black selection dot in it once completed; settings>connections>connections>manage existing connections. Add a new modem connection ("New" soft key). Put a appropriate name for new modem connection and choose "cellular line (GPRS)" Next enter apn address, prepay.tesco-mobile.com . Next enter username, tescowap . and password, password . Finish . Under proxy tab , tick "this network uses a proxy.." Put 193.113.200.195 in proxy server box . Tap advanced and put 193.113.200.195:8080 for the first 3 (HTTP, WAP, Secure WAP) and 193.113.200.195:1080 for the last (Socks). Exit from settings then go back in & check you can see the new modem setting & that it the checked connection option, exit again & Soft reset & fingers crossed ...
I'm using a custom WM ROM so don't be put off too much if some details seem named differently.
You may want clean out existing settings or try couple of changes in details if doesn't work :-S
Not a keen fan of your radio version but it is a well used one & I not seen internet connection issues with it but you never know ! so a radio change maybe worth a shot if really come to an end on the settings !
Hi, this is a screenshot of the settings, I think I got it right?
It still doesn't work
instead of port 8080 try 9201 !
I do remember newer builds of Magicall software caused internet connection failure, u happen to have that by any chance !
Port 9201 disables all my internet connection and email still not working
I tried 8080 again, internet back but no email.
I don't have magicall, though I wish I did sometimes
In connections advanced tab under select networks button what do you have selected for programs that automatically connect to the internet ?
Seems it actually connecting in terms of internet means you can't be far off.
Worth running through mail settings & see if anything can be adjusted to help.
Also what mail type is setup here (IMAP/POP3) & does Tesco Mobile have any limitations on mail server connections ?

AOL is IMAP4, I haven't asked Tesco Mobile if they have any specific limitations but the standard settings work fine with the SIM in a Wildfire running Android 2.2, I've gone through all the working settings on the Wildfire to see whether there's anything different there but I can't find anything, though I suppose there might be some small but important setting I've missed
I also tried to set up a gmail account on the HD2, but that doesn't work either
