I am getting quite frustrated after spending the last 6-7 hours combing the net for answers only to have a bunch of failed attempts, please help.
I am trying to root my Xoom which is running 3.2.1 and I installed the SDK manager (C:\android-sdk-windows) and Java JDK (C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_02) but everytime I open SDK, the cmd window closes just as fast as it opens. I have completely reinstalled everything multiple times, trying multiple locations for SDK, and different values for the environmental variables (run - sysdm.cpl - advanced - environmental variables - system variables - PATH).
I had it working earlier today and installed adb but could not find the device when I ran cmd - "adb reboot bootloader". So I tried a few other methods and it crashed.
What am I doing wrong?
I am trying to root it using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17135571&posted=1#post17135571
Is there a better way that won't run the risk of killing my wifi like I say on another post?
Thanks,

So, I'm using Archos 5 IT, it triboots with the original Firmware (Android 1.6), a Gingerbread with the Cyanogen thingy from OPENAOS (Android 2.3.5), and OPENAOS Angstrom.
I have tried installing the ADB driver, but it never works.
1. I've got the SDK stuff + Java requirement, put my device on Debug Bridge setting, still no good.
2. When I plug my device in, Windows makes a funny noise and fails to install driver.
3. I point it to the driver (.inf) file, and it fails again. Says something along the lines of driver not being compatible with x64 (and the .inf file is the only one I've been able to find).
4. I've even tried adding additional lines to the .inf + .ini files that I found over the internet
5. I turned off driver signing
6. I even tried installing/uninstalling/reinstalling.
Nothing works. Always the same funky Windows noise followed by failure to install driver.
Any ideas guys? Also, is there any way I could get Loop Support for my device?
Thanks.
Before I forget, I've also tried other trouble shooting methods:
1 - force install ADB
2 - I've tried turning off driver signing
3 - disabled/lowered the UAC
4 - even gotten a 3rd party program to sign/force install the driver.
5 - set multiple variable parts for both "ADB" & "PATH".
6 - done all of the above with no restart, then again with restart in every combination available.
still no luck.
HELLO???? ANY HELP????
I find it hard to believe that out of 4,000,000 people on this forum, not one has a any idea.
I was getting device not found errors trying to sideload CyanogenMod. Googling indicated that I needed to install Google USB drivers. I was following visualgdb.com/tutorials/android/usbdebug/manualinstall.php and the Android SDK Manager showed that I had 3 packages to delete and 20 to install. I first OK'd the 3 to delete, but that 20 to install dropped to 17. Then I proceeded with that. The download lookedl like it was going to take hours, so I concluded that many of the packages (which I didn't recognize) were not needed -- I just need the Google USB drivers.
There was no Cancel button, so I closed the window. When I tried to re-run the Android SDK Manager, I get a popup window saying "Failed to execute tools\android.bat:, error 2".
I think I corrupted something by closing the package update/install window. What do I have to do to clean this up?
Almighty! lets get started,
I have a 64 bit computer running Windows 7 professional.
First let me mention I tried to fix this on my own. darn I tried.
Just plugging the tablet into computer shows a windows explorer page named Autoplay that let me view pictures on device on a folder named
Computer\Trio HD Elite 7.85 Tablet
Installed android-studio-bundle-141.1903250-windows in
Error- SDK required.
Downloaded jdk-7u79-windows-x64 (java development kit)-install reboot PC
Open C:\Andriod in windows explorer, open SDK Manager
A command prompt window flashes briefly, then closes.
click start, search for run key in sysdm.cpl go to advanced, environment variables create new path named JAVA_HOME that does directly to the java .exe file
(this was checked by reinstalling the java development kit, then opening Java typing where java it tells me C:\Windows\System 32 even though the path is
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_79
opening ADB works!
Download Extras- Android USB Driver
open CMD key in
cd C:\Andriod\platform-tools
this brings me to the directory where Android ADB is.
abd devices
no devices detected.
Installed Samsung Kiles.
TRIED to install PDAnet.. failure.
tried to open Device manager, where a entry marked Trio HD Elite 7.85 Tablet sits, and update the driver to the C:\Andriod\extras\google\usb_driver
it complains about driver being unsigned. Using This guide I used step Two downloaded Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider (DSEO) and ran it.
went into the C:\Andriod\extras\google\usb_driver folder and manually keyed in every title in the folder.
each time program stated had signed successfully. The computer is now saying test mode in the bottom right hand corner. however trying to update driver gives same error.
I'm amusing the device needs to be in developer mode, which it cant be put into because it's locked.
The Trio Support is useless there steps do not open any settings. Also tried a list of alternate ways to open tablet recovery. and since ADB isn't reconizing the device I can't run adb reboot recovery
So. end result, im here with coffee and no milk,
A generic tablet cobbled together from who knows where,
and a locked screen.
Think you can help?
ANY assistance is appreciated.
So i have a cheap generic tablet that says Trio Stealth G4X 7.85
Hello,
I own a phone(Model Number ZTE BLADE L5 PLUS) with Android 5.1 lollipop. I am trying to push install a normal apk file which doesn't need any special access. Also, my phone has way more storage space than the size of the apk. When I am trying to install the apk, it looks like it works at first with the message
"1 file pushed" with the speed of pushing the apk.
The real problem happens after a split second. It suddenly says "Error: Unknown command 'install'" and a huge list of commands which all starts with "pm" comes out. I have tried multiple times, from rebooting adb and typing in the path of the apk instead of inserting the name, but it all failed, with exactly the same issue every time. I also searched about the "adb install" command missing, but ended up wasting time only(only solutions for "adb" command not found came out)
I installed adb via Android Studio(Android SDK Platform-Tools), along with the platform suitable for Android 5.1. I didn't download the android emulator though. I hope I could get some help.
Thank You
Hi, I have been trying to “debloat” my Samsung TabA8 and have been trying to do it for some days now. Have done everything according to online directions )Developer Options, debugging, etc.)
My problem:
When opening ADB power shell, I get only the list of some of the installed apps on my laptop with Windows 10, but no apps on the Samsung Tablet. Win10 apps then ask me how I want to open those apps. Some of my choices are: Notepad, Open Office,Google Drive, Internet Explorer.
I have tried all of them. Nothing is working.
How do I get a list of Samsung full apps list on the desktop power shell window??
Just entering for instance: “adb shell pm list packages“ or: “com.samsung.android.apps.spage” is not recognized. I have tried several others also.
I have done all of the online remedies and tried the same thing with another tablet-same problem. Nothing seems to help. There is probably something really easy I am missing...(I hope)
If anybody has any suggestions/advice, I would appreciate it very, very much.
uses platform tools then uses adb from inside them not powershell.
read it here https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. Yes, I have been using the platform tools app. Also, made sure that the drivers are up to date. My problem starts in the platform tools power shell. Samsung apps are not visible there. In the past, before adb + develpoper options ,etc.,connecting the tablet to the laptop via usb, I can see the content and can delete pictures, etc.
So, I'm doing something wrong somewhere with adb.... I would really like to disable and render invisible some of those pesky Samsung apps without rooting. Have rooted my Nexus several years ago. It was great. I just don't want to lose the warranty for now.
Again, thank you. If you have any other suggestions, I will appreciate it very much.
Update...I just realized that the problem is probably with adb and power shell. At opening at the top it reads:
"PS C:\ User's \Ann\ Desktop\adb setup"
Is it not completly set up?
A few days ago,I have unzipped, and agreed to install Fastboot, ADB system-wide and installed Device Drivers. If I right click, it wants me to install again. Have done it a couple of times.... Still, it just isn't working...
Again...thank you!
Oh, one more thing I failed to mention is that this tablet is WiFi only. Does it make any difference? I want to debloat it first before doing it on my Samsung S22 phone.
-Device Driver installation problem (your wins)
-Platform tools (adb, fastboot) run with CMD from inside this folder.
you known howto fix it. wins problem.!
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.

You should also replace your adb with the latest binaries by Google.

Download the platform tools for windows zip file. Find out where your current adb.exe file is located. Extract the zip into that location, overwrite the old file(s).
