Have you guys used Avast Mobile Security yet? I absolutely love it!
using it allows for the getting rid of several other apps which, as stand alones, becomes duplicative.
thoughts anyone?

I did for about a day but I couldn't get it to play nice with root call blocker pro.. avast removed it from the allowed programs list in super user.
For an antivirus it is stepping into other areas ability to block mms but the implementation into that area is basic at best and besides I already have applications doing that for me already.. No need for the extra fluff..
Now if they looked at other applications and their implementation and ui programs such as rcb, Droid wall, and auto starts they could make an all in one full application.. Also it removed add free from super user..
From what I see thus far this program steps on too many toes and offers little of the ability to disable or modify the settings.. When a program becomes restrictive because it assumes I know no better then that's some bull ****e.

If avast had a trusted programs list and didn't screw with those programs then that would work but till then it is a no for me.

You should be okay, BUT ---
Use avast! Security to help avoid malware and viruses.
NOW --- For all of you who think Linux can't get viruses, YOU ARE WRONG!
Android is based on Linux, and Android does get viruses at times.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Would you say avast is the best android antivirus?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I would say that. I've tried EVERY Android Anti-Virus, and it works the best, and it's all for free. I am going to post an article link from ACS. Give me just a sec and I'll post it, and you can read up on it.

I use avast! myself, and trust me when I say it rocks, it rocks, my buddy and co-worker zAcHcOmA, told me about avast! for Android before he did this article, and I fell in love with it, plus it has advanced features if you are rooted.
(If you are rooted, and you haven't already, you should use Ad Free for Android in the Market, unless you like ads.)
One more thing, for a PC, I recommend AVG, not avast!.
But for Android, this is top notch.
Please check out the article.
Hi guys Im one of the developers of SwitchMe - an app that creates multiple user spaces. We have just released a new build which should fully support the Note. Please have a look and let me know if everything is working as it should!
Thanks in advance, PR after the break:
.................................................................................................
SwitchMe - share your device!
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple user spaces just as you would on a desktop computer, with each profile having its own separate system settings, apps and data.
Some of the benefits of this technology:
Privacy
Securely share one device among many users, protect your accounts with passwords and log out automatically.
Kids
Create a profile for the kids, with only the apps and access you feel comfortable with.
Gaming
Overclock your profile for maximum performance in intensive games
Speed
Imagine a buttery smooth profile, with no kids games, messengers or bloatware to slow things down.
Testing
Create a sandbox profile to easily test applications and themes - no more nandroid nightmares!
Battery
Switch to a profile which only contains the essentials to save power through brute force.
Critical usage warning:
Incorrect use of this application can potentially harm your device. Before proceeding with use we strongly recommend that you perform a full nandroid backup through the device recovery.
READ THE HELP FILE CAREFULLY TO AVOID ISSUES
Without the Key, this application allows a maximum of 2 profiles and no security features.
Only the standard Android implementation of Apps2SD is currently supported. Use all others at your own risk.
Most devices should be compatible as long as they have enough free internal memory to create secondary profiles. The application will warn users if available memory is low.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.
Market link:

The free version allows the creation of two profiles and has no security features.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
With fast switch enabled, switching will take 5 seconds unless you've installed a load of new apps. Fast switch will only work the second time you switch between any two profiles.
I love the idea, however I personally would use this on my TouchPad or any android tablet. To me, that's more a community piece, versus my phone. I barely let anyone touch/hold my phone, let alone play games/etc.

There are still many uses - its not just for sharing!

Has this been tested on JellyBean?
Yes it works fine.

I was wondering what android.pacprocessor.apk was myself. It seems to be elusive as I googled it and found nothing as well?
same doubt
Here's what methinks!!
Saw the source n I think it's for proxy server handling...correct me if I'm wrong.
A proxy auto-config (PAC) file defines how web browsers and other user agents can automatically choose the appropriate proxy server (access method) for fetching a given URL.
PAC (Proxy auto-config) files contain a single javascript function,
FindProxyForURL(url, host). It gets called to determine what proxy should be
used for a specific request.
If that processor will be switched off probably there will be no chance to assign to each specific app its own specific custom proxy server for its own way of webaccess. So probably only the default way with using local web proxy server will be used with no exception for every app. Something like hosts file on Windows I suppose.
i just uninsatall pacprocessor from my honor holly..............and its show popup window.............................low ram stooped
and when i restart my phone it does not start only bootanimation appear continously no further processing..............
anybody help me....what to do
I thought, I was the only one who is facing this issue after removing PacProcessor.apk. Try to reflash your phone and debloat without removing pacprocessor.apk and your phone should run properly. I see that pacprocessor.apk is a very critical apps that doesn't needed to be removed. As I observe after removing it, my phone starts to malfunction itself until my phone doesn't start, only the boot animation.

I'm not sure about its definition but removing it causes my tablet not to work properly.
My theory, thus far yet to be dispoven after much trial-and-error experimentational research, is this: PacProcessor (i.e./¿AKA? Proxy Processor) is basically an add(-)on-like type of application that is installed w/ any download of an android application that requires back-and-forth communication with a proxied website that is meant to be heavily trafficked by its users. PACProcessor (or Proxy Processor) is used for the purpose of lowering the amount of data needed on both sides of the proxy and for giving a certain degree of anonymity to the user (ie masking the users' accounts info, locations, device info, identities for the purpose of preserving the privacy of each individual user). This allows the website, host, or server to recognize the user and to process any of the users requests and commands deemed permissible by the website, host or server itself, and also allows users to interact with other users anonymously with or without offering tools for users to interact on a more personal level with one another if the users involved permit it. These things are necessary for most, if not all; multiplayer or PVP gaming apps, dating site apps, and chatroom apps. I love google and all, but it doesnt know everything (not that i do, LOL. i'm further from it than most) I just googled Proxy Processor for the first time to find info about it to compare to my hypothesis, and this page is the first and only google result i have perused thus far. I saw the first post in this thread, and after reading the comment about google not being helpful, i laughed and sort of panicked at the same time and just had to contribute what i think I might know regarding the subject. Please keep in mind that this post states my theory on the subject. Please correctt me if anyone knows for sure that some if not all of this theory is incorrect. Thank you, Hank

I always thought 'Pac' in 'PacProcessor' was short for 'Packet'... Which would make sense, seeing as how devices can only communicate by sending and recieving packets. Isnt that the bare bones?

Don't hate on it before you fully test it. A lot of its features are placebo like the seeder, but it's auto cache cleaner, fs-trimmer, and the ram manager are honestly useful to maintaining device performance.

Im not talking only about root alone, u can do lots of stuff after rooting, thats the point of it, u can tweak performance, remove bloatware......which can make device run faster. If the device works worse after rooting.... then the root might be unstable, thats probably becuase of a bad root....or something else.... But root mainly helps u boost the performance of the device, there isnt much reason for it to become slower unless theres a problem.... Ps:dont reply to 2 year old posts
How to speed up my android phone
Fortunately, it’s not the end of the world
There are some videos on the V60 that say it has a lot of bloatware. I'm still waiting for my phone to be delivered but i'm wondering what software people think needs to be added and what bloatware people think needs to go?
It's different for each carrier.
T-MOBILE bloat is only 6 games, a note app and the Tmo apps. However, upon setup, it does automatically install every app under the sun lol. Not really, just the Google apps no o e uses and that crappy McAfee
Verizon adds several of their own apps for Cloud backups and security services. Of course it's also another opportunity for them to charge you even more money per month, so I disabled them.
I uninstalled or disabled a bunch of things that came with my Verizon LG60: Netflix, Facebook, all the Google apps I can, etc.

I'm not a Google fan so I installed:
Edge and Duck Duck Go
Pulse
Simple Gallery
1Password
Office apps
I'm experimenting with email apps because I liked the old LG app but they don't have one on the V60. I am trying Aqua Mail but $30 a year is ridiculous. Actually what's more ridiculous is that Microsoft's Outlook for Android sucks so bad and hasn't been improved for years--and I pay for Office 365!
I still use Google maps, but I don't log in. (I know, I know...Incognito mode is available, but I don't trust it haha)
