Yea i know i downloaded it already but i dunno how to install it.. do i have to go to recovery mode and do something? They haven't posted instructions yet.
Im checking it out right now..the way it has worked on other phones i have had is that you rename it to update.zip and load it in stock recovery
I think you would just flash it like an ordinary rom using the recovery but not sure
Edit: apparently you need to rename it update.zip and flash it in stock recovery
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
yep that didnt work..im guessing you have to be rooted and do it through the custom recovery. either that or i missed something
edit: ooops guess you shouldnt name it update.zip.zip lol guess i should have gotten some sleep before attempting this
Put it in ext- sd in the root folder

I know this may sound ridiculous, but I'm unsure how I go about switching from my current ROM, eclipse, to ics without any chance of bricking my phone! I would really truly appreciate detailed instructions I'm just afraid of bricking my second razr in 2 months.. Hahah. And ics just seems way too epic to pass up... Help a noobie out!

Thanks for that it helps a bit, but it doesn't tell the proper way to go from your custom ROM to the razr ics ROM.. and it also only has the files for stock and such for different phones.. :/
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Just download ics rom, and flash it via odin or cwm. Dunno whats the problem.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
I thought I read somewhere u have to side boot it or something whatever that means lol and do u have to wipe everything? I just know u have to do it a different way then how you would normally flash a custom ROM
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
And like I used safeboot to come over from stock, couldn't I just do the whole disable safe mode thing instead of reverting back to stock and ota updating? Or do I do it another way? And if so do I delete safeboot? Idk I'm just scared I'm gonna screw something up hahah (

Oo ya I know I'm trying to flash the new ics leak on the razr but there's a special way to do it you don't flash it the traditional way you have to sideload the ROM in a less traditional matter which is probably the scariest part of it all to me I suppose. I mean I really truly want this ics ROM, but at the same time I would hate to put my phone in danger seeing as how I bricked my other razr not even 2 months ago. I must be traumatized... Hahaha :{

You really need to search and find the information so you can understand what to do if you get in trouble somewhere. You want to put the leaked official ICS on your phone, that is what I am understanding? If you do, this is what you need to do.
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1635-successfully-sideloaded-the-ics-leak/
There are two different sites that you will need to get links from. Read this thread and everything about it if you want the official/unofficial leak for ICS.
Ok well how do I get rid of my custom ROM? Do the fastboot thing?

Never mind I read a little closer and did some more research. So I uninstall safeboot, fastboot, motofail root, voodoo/ROM manager, then flash, get my root back, then reinstall cwm right?

Do as the thread says to do. It can't be any easier than that. If you don't understand the process, don't do it. Why do you keep asking questions when it is completely laid out? I understand you might be a little nervous but the process is easy. I recommend updating the driver just in case as I had issues using the utility until I did. Hope this helps and I am sure if you have fully read that thread, you will be fine.
Ok :s and my drive are up to date just did updates about a week ago. One more question though, do I need any specific files in order to use the utility to get back to .744?
See my questions are becoming more intellectual! Hahahah

Using the utility in that thread will put you on .173. That is what you would want to be on.

Read.... the ... threads... all the information is in those linjs users have posted. Read the entire thread, then read it again if you have too. Understand what you are doing before you do it. All your questions are answered there. Again, read the thread.

Agreed that all the info is in the thread, but here :
Based on the fact that you said you were on Eclipse 1.3 prior.
-Backup SMS messages to SD card, backup all apps and data with Titanium Backup, make sure to copy the directory to your SD card (to be safe).
-Fastboot back to .173, root, install voodoo rootkeeper, DO NOT install either safestrap or bootstrap with the Batman utility.
-make sure you update superuser in the market before you save with voodoo (to 3.0.3.2 or something like that)
-restore apps from TB and SMS from backup (the ICS update doesn't wipe data, so however you have your screens setup is the way they will be in ICS)
-save root
-copy ICS files (both .zip and .crc) to /cache directory
-install Rom Manager, but don't setup saying you have CWM installed, just install the .apk
-(here is where my option differs from original article) Using Root Explorer, nav to /cache dir, long press on .zip file. Now RE gives you some options, choose open with, then under general options select Open with default
-this will open ROM Manager, asking if you want to reboot into recovery.... Yes
-once it goes into 3e recovery press both vol buttons to see status.
-enjoy ICS
I followed these instructions (the original OP):
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1635-successfully-sideloaded-the-ics-leak/
I didn't roll all the way back to 744, and it worked fine. Just make sure you're on stock 173 (aforementioned Bat Man utility (aka: Matts tool).

I got the sbf in the developement thread, it was posted under the roms, root, etc. etc.? In that list i only see a couple roms offered and was just wondering if their were any more?
Alright I will reiterate because maybe im confused. I SBF'd to android version 2.3.3 system version 1.3.232, kernal version 2.6.32.9. Now what roms are available for me?
Well there were several eclipse releases for that build but I highly doubt anyone has access to them. Hosting for old roms isn't a priority. Honestly you are better off upgrading your build and kernel. 2.3.3 wasn't the most stable

I hear great things about eclipse is it very stable? And I would have to sbf to 2.3.5. How do I root that version?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA
If you update to 2.3.4 then eclipse 1.3 is very stable! Let me know if you need a link. You can always save root with voodoo root keeper free app and just take the OTA.
I would also strongly using the rerecovery zips as well to always flash last before you reboot in bsr. If you are not sure what I mean I will post a link.
Yea Travis a link would be great so 2.3.4 is what I should sbf to and i have rootkeeper already but was just wondering what the root method was? Psouza has a method for that right.

Rootkeeper isn't necessary for 2.3.4. It could actually cause problems with flashing the rom. Use Pete's one click.

Indeed we can help. You can flash cm7, eclipse 1.3, liberty (its not all that great), and molten rom. I recommend eclipse for stability and cm7 for customization. All you will need to do is install the bootstrap recovery and use it to make a backup of your stock rom. Then wipe data, cache, and dalvic cache. Then flash the rom of your choice. Cm7 requires a few extra steps but we can cross that bridge of we get to it.

Yea I think eclipse is my choice, seems the most stable. I'm not sure about the step by step process for doing this I would like a detailed walkthrough for this it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a 2.3.3 version of Eclipse? Let me know which version you want to use.
Here is a skeleton walkthrough just to give you an idea:
Make sure your device is rooted
Download the appropriate version of Clockwork Recovery abbrev. (CWR)
Download the rom of your choice and any other zips you need and make sure they are on you EXTERNAL sd card (very important but DO NOT freak out if forget, these things can be fixed
Install CWR from inside the app labeled System Recovery
Your system will reboot into CWR.
Whilst in CWR you want to wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache and System Data
(things will be muy poopy if you dont wipe sys data and Cache; Dalvik not so much)
You would then proceed to 'install zip' --> 'install from SD card'
Find the zips need to flash the rom, let everything work, go back to the CWR home menu (the first one you saw)
Hit 'Reboot device now' and bam, you just flashed your first rom!!!
For future reference: When a developer or anyone for that matter says you have to flash a zip file, the above process is what you would follow; sans wiping the Big Three (Cache Dalvik Cache and Sys Data) though some zips may require to wipe one of three and the poster will tell you which one.
Once you decide which rom you want to flash, Ill give you a more specific walkthrough.
im on 2.3.4 now and want to go with eclipse. That seems to be for me from what ive read. I have read i should do a nand backup but do i have to do that even though im only rooted with no rom? And you mentioned a more detailed walkthrough that sounds great, the noob frendlier the better.lol

The first thing you want to do is upgrade to 2.3.5. That is the kernel you need to be in in oder for Eclipse to work.
You really always want to nandroid when you are installing something semi big. You'll save root and time if something messes up. Do you know how to nandroid? It takes about 15 minutes to do

Hey guys,
I had a little issue for the second time today. Before when I first rooted my razr back on GB and made a backup of it ans tried to restore after ,it would completely go through the process in recovery but when I would hit reboot,it wouldn't do anything after the dual core logo. Same thing happened today, made a backup of stock leaked .206 and installed the aokp rom. Got a little anxious to see if it would do the same thing and low and behold it did! So technically I'm stuck on this rom (not that I don't like it ) but I don't wanna go through the whole process of using Droid utility and ics unstuck methods to go back ....any help would be appreciated!
