ICS Developer information needed - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Does anyone know what are the new API that ICS expose ? did they learned from Cyanogen Mod and exposed the launcher API to have a complete control over the services as well ? like Phone call sreen, lock screen, notification area to not behave like the original ICS but let say like iOS5 ?
Thanks,
LaBBa.

ROM Ideas

Hello Fascinate Community,
I'm new to the development scene and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about creating or modifying/altering ROMs. Specifically, I'm interested in modifying the Fascinate TouchWiz stock. Maybe I'm the only person in the world, but I kind of like the TW interface and don't care to replace it with a 3rd party launcher (I did use and like LauncherPro Plus on the Droid 1/2, just enjoying something different).
At any rate, I had some ideas that I thought would be really cool to integrate with the existing TouchWiz interface and I thought that I would share them in the event someone figures out how to incorporate them.
I also thought this might be a good way to consolidate ideas the community at large might have for upcoming ROMs, but lack the know-how to implement:
1) Similar to the control toggles in the notification bar, implement forward/back and play/pause controls for the music player
2) Rescript the default Car Home app to use Google Navigation / Google Voice Search
3) Add music controls to the bottom of the default Car Home app
4) Replace all the Bingification with Google (obviously)
5) have the soft keys stay on while screen is on
hope to see CM6 on here loved it on my eris
Sent from my rooted Samsung Fascinate using XDA App
6) have soft keys act as notifications..... was nice having the trackball light up with the nexus one
as long as it is built off froyo i will be happy

I know there are people working on this already, I really hope it makes it into the first series of ROMs.
7) Add a setting that allows you to enable/disable the "signal lost/found" audio alert.
8) (No-brainer - not even sure it warrants mentioning) Use a different file system (ext4?) to eliminate need for lag-fix.

That would be excellent! Only thing I am truly missing from my BB is the notification light!
so far i think i might have the best ROM idea of them all, One that doesnt have the memory hog TouchWiz!!! yeah!!! sorry guys have to, cant wait to start seeing stuff flowing out of this section!
Rom Idea:
2.2 Froyo
and the ability to use the touchwiz widgets. I really like them over HTC Sense.
Thats the only reason I wont use launcherPro....Official widgets from the manufacturer look so much better than aftermarket ones!!!

PD: i know that some thread have a quick cover app.. to replace the stock app.. and its working with the g3 plus xposed! somebody test it or can review that!
i really feel very thankfull about the answer of this thread..
thnks you in advance
And I want a wife who has hot friends and will not sleep with anyone else but will let me hook up with said hot friends at will...
The point is: It's give and take; you have to figure out what is most important and go with it.
I may suggest that you learn a little more about Android, licensing, and the differences between stock and AOSP before laying out your list of demands, because many of these are just not possible.
Stock:
Xposed is currently in an alpha state on Lollipop, requires the removal of the smart weather and cover apps, in order to function on KitKat and Lolllipop alike. Going to the "More settings...." will produce a crash as a result of this removal. That is clearly noted in numerous threads for Xposed on LG.
AOSP/CM:
Knock code is an LG feature that requires their framework and, I think, a kernel module, too; no dice on AOSP.
You can get double tap to wake, double tap anywhere to sleep on lockscreen, and double tap on status bar anywhere. The implementation on status bar only is far smarter.
Quick cover is available; not sure about the circle..
LG Weather is an LG app and requires their framework; no dice. There are far better options available anyway.
The IR may not lend itself to every app, but the QRemote app has been ported and works great.
Google Now is available.
App drawer folders are a feature of certain launchers and most work fine on AOSP ROMs.
You may test anything that you like where it comes to Xposed. I'm sure that the devs would appreciate detailed feedback.

My work around for double tap to sleep anywhere was to use slim actions and place it on the home screen as well as double tap on status bar or nav bar.
I've been on aicp for a while now and really enjoying it. Very solid and a lot of features.

How to get the good old Sound Modes toggle on Android Lollipop+ ?

I've looked this up extensively when Lollipop first came. I tried getting used to the Android Lollipop+ style to change sounds (Sound, vibrate etc) which is usually through the volume button.
I want to see the old way of changing sounds that we all know in KitKat and before, which was through the quick settings, I want to see this on Android Lollipop and after.
I never liked the way we change sounds on Lollipop+, and as this is Android, I expected I could find mods but I couldn't. I searched for that in Xposed and even looked for Lollipop ROMs (AOSP of course) that would support the old way.
I found a blog that has a mockup showing the old sound toggles in quick settings on Lollipop. I think the blog was made as a request?.
See request #1
http://androidsuggestionsmockups.blogspot.com/
How to get these toggles that we have used for years?
Thank you.
*sorry for the long question...
Why haven't anyone answered? I really want ton know... Please!
As far as I remember gravity box did it for me, and also learn what's patience
How exactly did you get that from Gravity Box?

(APK) Remove gap on the sides notification panel/drop down menu

Hello guys just want to share a little apk with you.
You know the gap on the sides of notification panel/drop down menu do you want to remove it so yes just install the attached apk and its done you can uninstall it any time without problems add ''settings application'' i tested on my own GALAXY S5 (SM-G900F).
Its not a modded notification panel or something like that its just an add to the original notification panel you will keep every thing stock with a apk.
I dont know if its working on other variant of the GALAXY S5 so be warned!!
Its working from 5.1.1 and up
Have fun
Source code?
Nice mod, I know what you're talking about but on Android 6.0.1 is fixed or what ? I don't have this notification panel gap on Marshmallow...but I've seen it at some other versions lol
Works on Android 5.0. You should put it as works on Android 5.0 and up.
Strangely it doesn't work on the Note 4 running Android 5.1.1.

Features u miss in Custom ROMs

Hi all.
Are there features you miss in custom ROMs that you maybe know from EMUI stock ROM or from other devices?
I started the thread because I hope our hard working devs are reading this and maybe can add single features and make people (like me) happy.
Ok, I start:
Known from Honor 5x EMUI:
Flip case mode
Pocket mode
Wanna have:
Lock screen message with multiple rows instead of running text
Fingerprint quick actions
I know there is an app for it but a feature is sweeter whenever it integrated into the software natively !
And also in hotspot v have option to set the limit for connected users and also block users separately in emui. And in custom ROM I have only timeout option....!
Biggest for me is volte
