A few quick questions - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hey there, just got lucky and got a TP in time for xmas.
Now I do have a few questions;
Is there a way to hide folders in the Asus Myzine gallery? I've created .nomedia files with no success. I still get the cover of Alice in Wonderland in the gallery...
Does anyone know if there are differences between a game on the Market and in the Tegra Zone? I got shine runner last week at the 10c sale, but Tegra Zone doesn't see it's installed. So I'm wondering whether to just shell out 10c more to check for differences...
I have to say I'm a bit shocked that there's almost no Android Market games marked compatible. That is a big bummer.
So far I have to say my Galaxy S2 is waaay snappier than this thing. Still, nice and after all it's"only" honeycomb...

the few games i clicked on in tegrazone just linked me to the market, so i'm going to guess that most of them are the same, it's just another portal to find them...
there's a bunch of games that work with it, i have about 15 on my prime right now...it's probably just a matter of the devs marking them as compatible, which they will (hopefully) get to after the holidays.

Theres a bunch of games thats compatible with the prime. check out my thread in this section called Prime/tegra3 Gamers Thread. Theres an ongoing list of games that are working on this device. Tegrazone games are optimized ones. as far as shine runner goes, if it has the water effects where water splashes on the screen then you have the right one. Alloy of tones the optimized apps will say Thd behind them or say Tegra2/tegra3 optimized in the description.

Changing the build.prop on my HP Touchpad to:
ro.product.model=GT-i9100
ro.product.brand=samsung
Allowed it to see all gameloft games in the market place and download the data. I tried this on my Prime but it doesnt seem to work...
Anyone know of a method?
I did the same thing when the apps went on sale. The crappy thing is I bought most of their games on my phone thinking I would be able to just get them in the market when I get my prime but no.
I read somewhere that you could email them and they would give you the apk's for the games you bought if you let them know your email address and your phone number. I emailed them and I'm waiting on their reply. Granted I didn't tell them its for my prime so I'll see what they say.

be careful when editing build prop. there's a guy now who his prime is in some sort of boot loop from doing the same and hasn't been able to fix it yet.
Order and Chaos wont work, the latest update broke it when i was running it on the TF101.
Previously we had to run the Xoom version of the game to get it working, but whatever they did in the update broke it
Its seriously ****e for gameloft not to support the TF. When i did some digging about on their forums, it seemed to be due to a licence problem, IE someone wanted to charge them too much to support the TF/ TFP officially.
Stupid really as im sure TF and the TFP will have a massive share in the tablet market now.

the problem is even with the APK the game does a check when it loads to see if it's compatible, i've gotten MC3 to work but other games will just tell you they aren't compatible when you load them.
it's ****ing lame of them, and i won't support them until they change their policy. ALL tegra2 compat games will work with the prime technically.
Most companies will write games to work with OpenGL ES which means they work automatically for pretty much every phone that has the hardware to support them.
Unfortunately Gameloft had it in their heads for a while that it is a good idea to write directly for each individual phone's processor instead of just creating one copy for OpenGL and being done with it. Thus massive fragmentation ensued.
Things are a little better now, they are releasing newer games directly to the market and those are generally compatible with all devices. When I got my VZW Galaxy Nexus I was very surprised to see that all my Gameloft Games installed right away without issue. (The one exception was Modern Combat 3 which was updated a week later).
I am pretty sure that the only thing keeping these games off the transformer prime is an arbitrary compatibility check. If they work on the old transformer directly from the market they should work on the prime.
Hopefully they give me the apk's, and hope they get updated to work on the prime. Seeing as this a very popular device, hopefully it won't take long. Its the only reason I bought them

maybe we should do the same like people did with Asus and bootloader. start writing them and complaining to them. that by not making their games compatible for TF/TFP devices they are missing out on a huge market share. our devices are more than capable of running their games. I have all the great gameloft games on my Ipad like Modern Combat3, Nova2, Splinter Cell conviction, and lots more. I really wish I could get them for my Prime. I think if enough TF/TFP owners complained to them then we might see the results we want pretty quickly.
Uno HD showed up on my Prime
MW3 and Asphalt 6 HD do NOT show up. which is sad. those are my fav.

Please sign the petition I started.
It's time for Gameloft to get flooded with emails and I decided on starting a petition so it's really easy for everyone to show support. Please pass this along to every forum, twitter and facebook friend you have.

I have Dungeon Hunter 2 working on my Prime, will upload pics ASAP.
And post a tut if enough people want to know how.
i wish people that had some gameloft games working would at least explain how... telling us that you have such and such game working doesnt help anyone.
please let us know if you have gameloft games working, and if so explain how.

Not with that attitude. You're acting as if people HAVE to tell you how to do something. Not gonna butter it up bud, that's a really whiny attitude.
I have successfully gotten Dungeon Hunter 2 working, but it crashes more than it should be and I'm trying a few things.
me soo sorry, just thought it would help more if those that have gameloft games working could explain how too others.
I use this build.prop mod by crossix on my acer a100 so the market thinks I have an a500. Can someone take a look at the lines if it looks like it will work on the Prime?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20200566&postcount=32
With this mod I'm able to see, mc3, Asphalt 6, Nova 2, backstab, Order and Chaos with my acer a100.
I purchased most of the Gameloft games during their sale (Knowing that they don't support the prime).
So far I have working :
Modern Combat 3
Spiderman HD
Hero of Spart HD
N.O.V.A 2 HD.
Not working :
Order & chaos (Downloaded data but won't update to latest version)
Asphalt 6 (Errors out whilst downloading data)
Backstab HD (Semi works - Initial download ok, game runs flawlessly though without sound (music plays, but no sound effects). After exiting and re-running the game, you have to download 2-300mb.
Dungeon Hunter - Downloaded data and installed, FC's after intro movie.
For the working games, I simply used APK's which I believe were modified for the original Transformer (Don't think I can post links, google is your friend however)
APK's will not work, unlike dead space which I can just email my samsung epic apk to the prime, install, and download sd files to play. When the gamelot apks are sent they will install and open then check the device with the gameloft servers. They then show incompatible. You can actually see the splash screen for the game in the background but gameloft is not allowing the game to go further
anyone successfully edit build.prop yet so these games will work?

Actually there's a simple work around for getting gameloft games working on Prime without editing build.prop or adding anything. As I have the new Modern Combat3 on it and it plays very well. can even play online against others. This game looks sick on Prime display.
The work around is you have to find the matching game apk. for Acer500 or Xoom device. As those have the same screen resolution. Once you get a hold of those, install, then download extra data from online. then you good to go. that simple and plays fine. Google can be your best friend

New user looking for hope

Just got a Sony S Tab yesterday and was wondering, is there any hope for rooting this superb device?
I have looked around and it seems like know one has managed this yet. My main reason would be to change build prop so that i would be able to play games like 9mm, modern combat 3 and tintin.
So, have i bought a great tab just to play games like angry birds and the like.
Any advise would be great.
Cheers,
David
Root will come eventually. You've just got to be patient
I'm also really hoping the tablet s gets rooted. There's a bounty going in the developer thread for almost $1000 for anyone who can figure out how to do it, so hopefully that'll entice someone to do it.
As for running those incompatible games we're pretty stuck for now. I honestly think everyone should be emailing gameloft asking for them to just fix it so we can buy their stuff. Surely they'd do something if they thought the demand was high enough... but then again who knows lol
Either way, we're going to have to be patient and wait for root. Hopefully someone else may know a method to make the games work now so that's worth researching tho
Patients is my middle name....NOT. I WANT IT NOW.Sorry, i got carried away. Gameloft could make alot more money if they expanded their coverage on different devices. With all that loveliness of a big screen, 1gb ram, Tegra2 and super resolution you would think they would have the knowledge to integrate their games.
Anyways, enough of my ranting, i wish i was technically minded, i would take the money and make this a incredible experience for all.
D.
My guess is if you could force it to load, they'd work just fine.. being tegra2 and all. I emailed them requesting their support of the tablet, listing in-compatible games.
Also questioned as to why you can get N.O.V.A. 2 off their website as a demo with ingame purchase of the full game, that works just fine, yet it is "incompatible" on the android market. To this they said "we have no information specific to the title you are inquiring about".
Got the general, allthough there are no set plans, yadayada, developers working hard, blah, your suggestions are forwarded to our dev team.
etc!
So yeah I agree, shout loud enough and we'll be heard.
Download N64oid and play Mario 64 ;]
I think Tin Tin works. I think i played it on my tablet.
If TinTin works then I am really confused. On the Marketplace it does not show up.
Check this out! Sony Tablet S has been successfully rooted
I know, if this baby gets rooted then it will make my day
Root's finally arrived guys! Just check over at the development forums.
Now that i have root would anyone have a suitable build prop to "trick" marketplace so that i may install my gameloft games?
Cheers, happy days, eh.
David
Quick heads up. Changed build prop and games now show up in marketplace and install and run perfect
Model=A500

Ps. Thats it,all my internal memory is run dry, I have a 32gb sd card just sitting their but games dont see the sd card because Sony set this up all wrong.

What are your absolute top android games for your tablet

List your absolute top ANDROID games
This thread was created to bring awareness to ANDROID tablet users of games worth mentioning from the ANDROID MARKET.
PLEASE EMBED VIDEOS WITH YOUR REPLIES TO MAKE THE THREAD A MORE ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE
EXAMPLE:
1. Anomaly: Warzone Earth HD for Android
Great game for those who love strategy games
Video Preview of game:
Whale Trail. Hands down. So much fun, well optimized for an ICS tablet.
Here is a whole thread about which games work for us.
I'm into Osmos HD, Quell and Zen Pinball THD atm.
Cheers
Riptide GP, Zen Pinball, Reckless Getaway, and Galaxy on Fire 2 THD had been my favorites until yesterday when I was able to downgrade my firmware to 9.4.2.7 ICS and now, I'm playing my Gameloft games- Modern Combat 3, Backstab HD, and Asphalt6.
Basically i like everything that has gamepad support
So GTA III, ShadowgunTHD, Sonic 4, Zenonia 4 (just started it, heard it sucks later on because of its payment system/balance - i HATEHATEHATE FreeToPlay Games. They always end up being no fun without paying (endless grinding), and no fun if you pay either (too easy). Its just such a bad thing for gaming... WHY?), PSX&N64 Emulator games, Riptide GP, Samurai II. Yeah.
Touch games only work for me if its something like Where is my water, or Angry birds. This "virtual" joystick thing is just bad - especially on a tablet. Almost as bad as FTP games.

Yeah, op is a little late in the game. The one I made already well established with a very extensive list with links and is already a sticky thread. Plus this should be n QnA section since its a question thread..thing is there's already a few threads on this already.
I dunno. 'What are your top games?' and 'What games work?' are two fairly different but valid questions if you ask me. I don't personally want to pour through every working game to find the gems. I might be interested in knowing what everyone can't live without. However I'm really not all that interested in either for some reason. I used to love gaming. Something's changed. Hopefully it's just temporary.

CyanogenMod 9 Gaming thread

Hey xda-ers
I've been on the cm9 beta for a little while now and it seems like there are a lot of games that work quite well in the alpha and some that are a screen-tearing, frame-dropping mess. So I have the idea to start up this thread, a thread primarily dedicated to sharing which games work really well on cm9. I personally will be posting review sort of things on here that go quite in-depth but you guys can post in however much detail you want. You can post about the hardest of hardcore games to the easiest of casual games but as long as its relevant it will hopefully be appreciated. I do want to have a couple of rules for this thread and they're as follows:
*No bashing other peoples reviews or opinions- everyone is entitled to their own opinion and while I'm ok with a respectful discussion I don't want flame wars in here.
*Please keep it relevant to cm9- this thread is about _cm9_ gaming, I don't care if you go and make a gaming thread for a different rom but I don't want posts about cm7 or MIUI in here.
*have fun- don't feel obligated to post something if you don't want to. Try to have fun in here and I'll try to too.
Well thanks guys I hope we can all help each other find some good games to play, please follow the rules and hopefully this will be a nice thread to be in.
Help make this community a little nicer guys!
Thanks

Well I'll be kicking things off!
My first recommendation/review:
Dungeon Defenders: Second wave
Overview-
Dungeon defenders is a mix between a tower defense fantasy game and a traditional 3d RPG. The main premise is that the kingdoms heroes have gone off to defeat some great evil and have left their kids to guard the castle. In each area/map there is an eternia crystal that you have to set up towers and traps and such to defend from the waves of monsters.
Gameplay-
Gameplay is mainly governed by one of four classes each with their own play styles and pros/cons.
The apprentice-
The long ranged, magic user who places down towers that shoot long range projectiles.
The apprentice is the easiest class to use and is by far the best for beginners as his towers are the easiest to start off with and his skills are easy to understand and use.
The huntress-
The long ranged, assassin class.
The huntress wields either a crossbow or gun that deals long ranged damage and places down traps that activate when stepped on by monsters. The huntress can be somewhat hard to use due to her slightly less straightforward traps.
The squire-
The close ranged tank.
The squire combines melee attacks with brutal close ranged towers to destroy enemies quickly up close.
The Knight has some of the best starter towers in the game but he is at somewhat of a disadvantage without teammates to back him up due to his only close range play style.
The monk-
The all around skillful class.
The monk combines the first three classes in a Jack of all trades sort of play style. He has a melee attack as well as a long ranged magic attack with towers that deal different affects when stepped on by enemies. He is definately the hardest class to play due to his lack of a prominent skill and towers that need some getting used to and upgrades to really learn how to use effectively.
So once you've chosen a class its time to jump into the game.
There's a helpful tutorial that you can jump into but its not a super complicated game at first. Each map is made up of different rounds. At the end of each round chests will appear with Mana in them, the currency you use to build towers and buy or upgrade things after the round has ended. You also get mana from killing the various mobs that spawn throughout the wave. You also earn xp that goes towards level ups that let you carry more mana and unlocks new towers for you to build. Also when you level up you can attribute skill points to different skills such as player or tower damage, health, speed etc etc. Monsters also drop random items which you can equip or sell in between rounds.
After the round is over you can buy and sell weapons and armor, and upgrade you currently have equipped. The sheer number of weapons and upgrades you can apply to them makes it easy to make sure no two are the same.
Multiplayer-
The multiplayer element of this game is WHERE ITS AT! This game really shines through and its super easy to jump into a match and start playing as long as you have a good internet connection (which at time of writing I didn't). All you need to do is sign up for a game spy account which while can sometimes be a hassle keeps the hackers and cheaters out and keeps the fun consistent. Once you've made that account you can quick join a game or open up a server browser to pick between maps, difficulties and game modes. Once you join its smooth sailing and the different classes are very well designed to overlap and coordinate together in the multi player game modes. If you can get several friends to get this you will have a great time indeed.
Controls-
There aren't too many options for the controls but overall they're not too bad. The way to move your character is to rotate the wheel-ish joystick in the left portion of the screen. That controls both movement and direction mind you so it might take a little bit to get used to but once you do its just fine. Its hard to describe exactly how to use it because I've never seen another control scheme like it. The buttons around the other edges of the screen control other movement controls such as jumping or attacking, as well as selecting what towers to build (actual placement is done through touch input) or what abilities to activate or spells to cast. The game defaults to having the actual movement touchpad being invisible but that seems really stupid so I recommend turning that off in the settings. So while not completely perfect the controls are definately usable and should be relatively easy to learn for most users.
Graphics/Performance on cm9-
The game has a graphics slider that allows you to go from HD crisp graphics to blurry pixelated retro goodness. On the highest graphics setting the screen tearing really sets in but on lower resolution on the slider you can get very good performance on cm9. Overall it performs quite well with no hw accel and it will only get better once we get full acceleration.
Verdict-
Overall this game offers up some great RPG game play mixed in with some tower defense elements and kick ass multi player. The controls are manageable and if you want to have some long term fun, (as you can go quite in depth) this is a great choice and for a free game it couldn't be a better deal. I'd recommend it to any Android gamer and its a great game.

I'd love to contribute but I've found that with cm9 I haven't been able to find most of my favorite games on the market
Yeah, that's a problem, although most of them would run. Try using Apk leecher on your PC and then side loading them. Might work, but I'm not sure if you can download paid apps even if you've bought them.

One thing that doesn't work is using three fingers to access the menu. I get around this by opening up the recent apps thing and closing it, which then pauses the game, opening the menu.
Also, swiping to slow down/speed up the game does not seem to work as well.
Draw Something, Angry bird's, Sonic CD and Plants vs Zombies work great
Unfortunately my favorites don't show up and I'd love to test them
Shadowgun, FIFA 12, Modern Combat 3, Asphalt 6, Riptide GP, and NOVA 2

With the default cm9 build.prop the gameloft games dont work. I'll try modifying mine to look like a Droid 3 (which worked fine for cm7) and get back to you on that. I'll also mention their performance too. If I get the chance to DL the big-ass game data.

For the device not conptable message, you can edit the build.prop, I w able to get it to work on cm7 by spoofing a droid3. Dunno about cm9 though.

Haven't changed my build.prop because no one has said it is OK to do so as of yet nor what i would change. I like the play store recognizing the nook as a tablet as well
You know... it's funny. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, mupen64plus emulator, ran with amazing speed in CM7. However the video and colors were kinda bad. Like buttons just looked weird, and sometimes there would be random squares.
HOWEVER. On CM9, the video and graphics are superlative. However, it lags obviously. Not TOO much... I mean it's definitely playable, but if you are fighting Gannondorf it's kind of annoying. Hopefully rebellos will get this kind of thing working for us.

Whats the main limitation(s) for the S3s gaming capability?

Good evening ladies and gents.
I'm about to jump off the fence and buy a new phone (and since I'm posting here I guess you've figured that I'm seriously considering the S3). But before I choose I want to know which games I can expect to be able to play. I stumbled onto the Tegra Zone a few months after I bought my Desire HD and was quite disappointed that it didn't support the content. I know the S3 doesn't have Tegra but stil a lot of the games are still supported/available.
I've now read through dozens of threads but I'm unable to find out how one figures out which games the S3 can run. In some cases I see thats it's just the "ultra high" setting that isn't supported (1. is this correct?). 2. Is there a different version of most games that are meant for non-Tegra devices or is it the exact game but some of which lack the highest graphics settings? Lastly: 3. Are there any games that S3 owners won't be able to play in the foreseeable future?
I would really appreciate input to any of my questions. Have a good day/night
It runs Mali-400 games and if you decide to Root just install Chainfire 3D and you can run most Tegra and any other games.
Gaming is very good. Thats all i have to say
Sorry i couldnt be of more help.
Have u tried looking on the playstore? With a friends phone or on the web page. Google searched? There is a thread about good ganes in the s3

S3 can play anything but Tegra3 Specific games, there is an app made by Chainfire it's called "Chainfire3D" where it emulates all different graphic chips in the market, so basically you can play all non-tegra and tegra games that aren't Tegra3 specifc as mentioned above. The app needs root in order to work. Dead trigger is the latest game to come out and it plays VERY nice and smooth. Shadowgun tegra2 version works, Pinball THD, Fruit Ninja THD, NBA Jam works nice PES2011, Blood and Glory work pretty well... I'm not much into gaming, those are the games I own, and I can say they are the ones that will hammer the CPU and GPU pretty good. I'm not sure what you mean with "ultra high settings" everything works. remember that the screen size is 1280x800 so some games that are made for smaller screen will have black bars or some cropping or some weird behavior, but I've only seen that on "time killer" games, can't recall which game was that showed this behavior, but still playable.
Hope that straight things out a bit for you.
Chain fire helps with some tegra games but it's not perfect eg sonic 4 ep 2 lags like treacle and some tegra games don't work at all. However the graphics hardware in the gs3 is the fastest in the world for a smartphone so there's a lot of potential. But tbh gaming without hardware buttons is pretty crap anyway.

Thank you all for your replies.
I had already read through the post you mentioned slking1989 but even though it assured me that a lot of quality games are supported it didn't give me a definite answer regarding how to determine beforehand if a game will run or not (like "system requirements" or similar). I'm guessing the reason HQ games doesn't show up in the Play store on my current phone is that it doesn't support themn thus it's no points showing them but since I don't have the phone yet I wanted to do some research.
My choice is between the S3 and the HOX but after your replies the S3 was pushed further ahead in the race (only kept back by the insecurity around Tegra games really). Now I just have to decide which color to get.
This may help u decide
