[Q] how to support arabic on SHOstock? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hi guys
i installed the latest SHOstock mod from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353513
so far i like it so much exept for the part it doesn't support Arabic or RTL (stock rom doesn't support that as well)
i tried to flash RTL rom here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292841
but it overwritten the SHOstock mod now i'm back to stock with RTL support.
So any idea how to get SHOstock and RTL support together on the same time?
Thanks you...

You'll have to either bring rtl and Arabic support to his ROM or ask him to support rtl. Reason it flagged over shostock is because you flashed a stock image that was supported rtl.

[Q] Question for who installed Android 2.3.4 on SGS2,Does it Support reading Arabic?

I have an European Device with Arabic fonts installed , but it does not read Arabic even after updating to the last ( PDA:XWKF3 - PHONE:XXKE7 - CSC:XEUKD1 ).. still can't read Arabic .. so im wondering if i installed the new rom that i found on samfirmware I9100XXKG1 Android 2.3.4 , will it support Arabic reading or not
if your willing to help , please just open the bbc.co.uk/arabic/ or any Arabic site on the default system browser and tell us if its reading Arabic correctly ( that if you know arbaic ) or print the screen to us ..
Thanks in advance
Using Villainrom 2.0:
Looks the same in the default browser.
Thanks prodygee .. you saved me time. i was about to install the ROM ..
do you think they will ever release an update for SGS2 that would make the European devics at least just read arabic !
I'm not sure. I can't read Arabic, I can do Japanese, but I can't do better . Glad I could help you
yeah thanks you really helped .. its not reading arabic still .. may i ask what software you use for the screen capture ?
It works on my phone alright! The SGS2 has a built-in screencap utility. You need ot hold the home-button and press the unlock button quickly after that. You'll see a white border flash around the screen indicating it took a picture.
You can then view them in the gallery
awesome ! new trick that i was looking for ! ur the best
using arabic
you can install madmack rom to read write Arabic on a European SGS2. that is the case with me and it works flawlessly. It is basically taken from an SGS2 dump from the UAE I guess
only 2.3.3 can read arabic correctly for all the apps
if you need only browser on 2.3.4 you can use opera for connected letters
otherwise you need to use a released source firmware with modified libcore
madmack 1.5 works fine if you need a completely arabized phone with connected letters
Can you please answer my questions guys, thanks in advance:
1) So the 2.3.4 update will not include connected Arabic letters on browser, gmail, messaging??!!
2) Does Madmacks ROM requires the device to be ROOTED?
3) If not, Am I gonna be able to buy apps from the market?
4) Does Madmack's ROM affects the battery?
Thanks
Ayhamov:
1. As of this write up Samsung hasn't released Arabic firmware based on Android 2.3.4
2. If you want to flash the latest european firmware XXKG5 or XXKG6 yet have arabic letters connected then you would need a special kernel which allows you to update/overwrite a few files in the system folder, so definately you will *need to root* your device (I recommend using CF-Root's kernel corresponding to your flashed ROM to get the job done)
MadMack and I have released a package which you could flash using ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery. I am attaching the latest version that I have here.
3. As for buying software from the market; no it's not affected by rooting.
4. To my knowledge the battery life is not affected by arabization, however, to achieve the task a process of deodex'ing the system framework program is performed which disables some acceleration in the system/browser. we don't have a workaround which maintains the performance yet. Some efforts have been put into getting the job done with maintaining the performance but till date we don't have a success.
Good luck,
Brightidea.

Want stock ROM DDKQ8 v2.3.6 with Urdu & Arabic language

Hi Forum
I want to install stock ROM DDKQ8 v2.3.6 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I downloaded it from somewhere and installed, and found it does not have Urdu and Arabic languages.
Anyone can point me that if this ROM has these two languages.
Thank you.
KQ8 is the Indian version. It won't have your languages. Request some developer to do it for you or use some rom that supports these languages.

I liked your ROM, and it caught my attention due to languages. But my flash does not successful. I tried two times. When first I tried, I was having Jusada's ICS Final ROM. After flashing with Imaginary ICS. It suck on Samsung GT 5830 logo screen.
Then I noticed, you said that before flashing it's preferred to have a stock ROM. I flashed a stock ROM (2.3.6 Indian version) and then I flashed again for Imaginary. But still it stuck.
That's why I was asking, if I can get 2.3.6 stock ROM in Urdu and Arabic.
Any idea how to get success with flashing of Myth Imaginary ICS ROM? (now I am using JPKP9 2.3.3 Stock)

[Q] what's the newest ICS stock rom with RTL+Arabic language?

All ics roms have rtl, but you need keyboard that support rtl writing.
If on custom ROM, simply install latest Swype beta and download language.
If stock, root, remove Swype, install new Swype beta.
Or search market for other 3Rd party keyboards.
can't find it in languages i'm with latest nord europe ics rom
where is african or arabic ics rom?
ICS Resurrection 1.9.1
I am running the latest ICS Resurrection custom rom 1.9.1 and I can confirm that arabic is there. Just go to settings--> input & Language --> default. Then click on Android keyboard --> input language then uncheck use system language box and select check mark beside English and Arabic languages boxes.
When you go to keyboard, long press the space key and it will prompt you to select typing language.
Good Luck
The Wanamlite ROMS (currently 11.7) have been developed to have full Arabic support, and are as close to stock as you could want, with nice little extras...
Apreciate any help

Do you mean that any ICS ROM will handle RTL text right away?
I have the same question as the OP. I have an unbranded (not carrier bound) gt-i9100 and I am looking for an Official ICS ROM that supports RTL. The system menus doesn't need to be in any other language though.
Peace
Do you really want me to type all that which you have quoted by me?
Oh well.... Yes ics supports rtl by default

[Q] i need arabic language what rom to get?

i need arabic language what rom to get? even stock rom or custom no problem but preferably ginger bread because the size of the ICS is big im currently using a custom rom called fox hound but it has no arabic support.
Found this the development section. I am sure there are others too.

[Q] RTL Arabic on S2 i777

my first post, please don't flame (too hard).
I've helped others with GPS and Play store glitch after jelly bean update, and now looking for some help.
My wife has an S2 i777 and did SIM unlock to use with T-MO.
It's GB 2.3.6. The PDA is i777 UCKK6.
I'm looking for RTL with Arabic language support. I've done weeks of reading and I found this nice thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292841 But that ONLY supports UCKH7
This phone is not rooted.
Looking for noob instructions for RTL arabic support.
Thanks in advance.
1. Upgrade to ICS and you should have proper Arabic support sans keyboard - AFAIK Hebrew/Arabic/all RTL language support was first introduced on ICS. When on ICS, download any Arabic keyboard from Play Store and you should be good to go.
2. Or move to deodexed GB ROM (any custom ROM) and run madmack's Arabic patcher (google it and you'll find it). It should work on any deodexed GB ROM, since it's based on Hebrew patcher that decompiles/recompiles the framework - but it's also the reason why it can't work on stock odexed ROM.
I suggest option 1.
Thanks Jack.
1) I heard that ICS was a complete failure and has bricked many i777 S2's. Are you saying to root and use custom ROM as opposed to the ATT update?
2) found what deodexed means... www wugfresh .com /guides / deodex/
Do you have any experience with the i777 S2 and ATT ICS OTA update?
Thanks
1. ICS is generally a better system on this phone IMHO. I do suggest moving to it through custom ROMs rather than through stock official upgrade - stock-based custom ROMs offer stock stability with customization options, and EMBRYO 5.4 is a good ROM that I'm happily running. Not sure how relevant the infamous "brickbug" is, but it's irrelevant for most custom ROMs.
If anyone more familiar with "brickbug" can chime in - you might get a better picture. I got mine with Gingerbread, installed TWRP recovery and flashed custom ROM about 1/2 hour after I got the phone, so I have no experience with stock GB/ICS.
2. "Deodexed" means - not odexed. With Google help:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide/
Stock ROMs are always odexed, so you'll have to move to a sort of custom ROM anyway. And if you do - you might as well go a better route than staying on GB.
Since I'm the kk6 (2.3.6) GB, do I need to downgrade factory image first in order to root? Or is there a tool out there to root and put a custom ROM (ICS or JB custom ROM).
Thanks
It's not one tool, it's more.
Read the stickies, they contain rooting guides. See that you understand what you're doing before proceeding.
Thanks Jack. I was just wondering if I needed to downgrade GB version first.
No, you don't need.
Just to let you know, there is a thank button to thank the user that helps you.
It's used a lot here on XDA.
You can thank 8 a day.
