Tired of flashing...need solid ROM - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright so to be honest I'm sort of getting tired of Android itself and the whole rooted aspect...and I have been a flash-a-holic for over 2 years now. I am simply tired of flashing new stuff all.the time and dealing with bugs after having the ROM installed for a while. I prefer AOSP but I am definitely willing to give Sense a try. I do like minimalism and I am currently running Viscious ICS MIUI and so far its been great but I have terrible battery life with it. I really just want a ROM that looks great stock and is very solid with everything working, but is also updated frequently and actively developed. Any suggestions? (I thought about going back to stock, but figured that would be pointless)
Sent from my HTC Mecha using xda premium

Eternity, updated consistently hardly any bugs and if there is virus fixes them asap.. its sense stock is cool but you have the choice in a few badass themes I'd suggest the dark horse theme cuz its amazing!
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

skyraider. been through them all and always go back

I appreciate the replies I keep hearing about eternity and think I will try it...hell even the presentation of the thread itself is clean and makes me want to try it. I will also try Skyraider as I hear that's a great ROM and I never ended up trying it.
Sent from my HTC Mecha using xda premium

the ics theme is really nice on skyraider

BAMF Forever is fast, fluid, and is my daily ROM
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Skyraider. I have the "dialer problem" running down the battery after a phone call. His option to turn off LTE when phone sleeps took care of that. Only ROM I've found that doesn't use up my battery in a few hours.

Try bamf son of a bliss for me it made me jabe the best battery lofe without sacrificing performance give it a try, i am not using fmkmz what thee rom and its awesome but doesnt have as great of a battery life as soab

VirusRom's AirborneTB rom is amazing... I liked rc1b2 the best.... but I am waiting to desense rc1b3
cool ill check out virus first
From the popularity I've seen, it looks like Das BAMF is one of the most popular, and then I'd put virus in second. But I really don't know, I'm just going off the most activity and questions I'm seeing about them.
I am using Perfect Storm!
It works for me...I love it!
this is a question if you ask 10 people...5 will say this and the other 5 will say that....
you have to try them all and come to your own conclusions of wjhat works for YOU!!!
Another vote for Das BAMF for the most popular.
I really like Tesla coil it has been amazing not to mention it is pretty much desensed, and it is themed and has a very fast performance
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Das BAMF and Tesla Coil have the best performance in my opinion so it's just a matter of whether or not you want sense (I don't so I'm using Tesla with adryn's newest BAMF kernel b).

This is my first android... so before i go exploring what the world of Roms can do, I opted for the Perfect storm.. I'm loving it, its faster and seems to save a lot of battery. I'll start changing roms maybe later when i'm bored, but for now... i want to enjoy the format HTC has provided.
I've tried more than a few, so far Perfect Storm v1.2 seems the best, fastest, best battery life, most stable
Virus just released B3, senseless coming today hopefully.
As stated before, you can ask all you want, but what works for person #1 wont for #2 and #3. Thats the great thing about options. We haz them
I've been using TeslaCoil and it's running silky smooth with no OC... I've tried Virus rom as well, the boot animation rocks and it's also smooth

I tried tesla but missed sense too much so das bamf gets my vote its just a perfect mix.

Question for the thunderbolt community

Hey everyone, I am going to be trading some services (a mechanic is doing my breaks in exchange for me rooting and custom romming his lady's phone) and would like to know what your opinion is on the best thunderbolt ROMs available? She is currently on stock software and hates absolutely everything about her phone and how it behaves.
What would you guys recommend? I'm looking for functionality, reliability, battery life and the smallest amount of software bugs as possible.
Tweaked stock ROMs? AOSP? CM7 or 9? I know nothing about the thunderbolt community and would greatly appreciate any info you can give me.
Thank you everyone

Leaving it on a stock rom unless you plan on maintaining the rom for her..If she has no idea what shes doing then dont cause a headache for yourself, with techs its nothing to change out a rom, or if it gets buggy, well you get the point... the best thing would be a factory reset, or check the memory on the phone she prob has to many apps, install the apps from the sd card to free up the memory cuz im on a stock rom and its way fast, great battery, most of all the battery issues are from apps..just trying to save you a down the road..
I would go to the dev section of this forum and look at the ROMs and see what catches your eyes its opinion over opinion when saying stock is better than custom tons, I myself like custom roms because you can choose a wide variety of tweaks etc etc

Definitely a stock based ROM, like Zues. AOSP's battery life isn't as good as Sense (to no fault of the amazing devs of course).
I also suggest Imoyeson's leankernel 5.1.0GB in battsaver mode. Amazing performace with amazing battery life.
I also recommend Zues. ran it for a month straight no problems. only switched roms to see what else is out there
BAMF 1.11 with kernel+++ and turn off task manager at startup. Since I've installed the latest version of BAMF I've had zero fcs, great battery life and good speed. I'm a tech all day long with Windows PC and understand little about behind tor scene android functions. BAMF seems most reliable and low maintenance. Remember every phone responds different to the same os. It's just like gas every kia responds different to bp gas.

It depends if she likes sense or not. I've been running eternity which is a sense 3.5 rom which runs excellent, stable and fast. And for aosp I've run thundershed cm7.2. Very quick and stable. Another cm7.2 based rom to check is the new rom zombie. I just loaded it up and so far is awesome. Has a nice red theme to it.

That 3.5 Rom drains crazier then a rat in outhouse. In ten minutes lost 10% then lost more about the same rate. This Rom needs to be fixed.as that is not stable. Seems as is stock os the best on the battery, and that is sad. Also your my Verizon app won't work which is another area of concern with limited data and shared plans we need to have an app that works. UNACCeptable people to have those two issues. My Verizon app is not.bloate as it gives vital account information.

Dont listen to this idiot. He doesn't know how to set a rom up to save his life so don't pay attention to what he says. He has been banned twice already. Eternity gets better battery life than any rom i have tried. That includes stock which has horrible battery life.

You force me to agree with the troll, damn it! I have to qualify your statement with: 'which eternity'? I was very happy with 248 but when I updated to my battery life dropped down to 5 - 6 hours(!) with no change in the setup.
I'm getting over 14 hours of battery life with Gingeritis 3d by comparison and the phone is getting the same or more use.

Yes, r248 had better battery life then the latest test builds.
Why is that you ask?
As I stated in the Eternity thread, the newest build has a test kernel from Ziggy based on the latest OTA, as is the new test build Rom.
That kernel has an identified and known issue where the Performance and On Demand governor are locked at Max, no matter what you do.
The solution:
Change governor to Lag Free, or install Imos 6.2 kernel for Mr4 based roms, or the Bamf 3++ kernel.
Then apply your preferred CPU settings.
Battery use should return to as good or Better then r248.
The new kernel in the Rom is being reworked currently to resolve the issue.
So, the concern is with the kernel, more so then the Rom.
As far as Gingeritis having better battery life, I don't doubt that any Sense 3.5 Rom is going to be somewhat more draining on our devices/batteries.
Im talking about r248 but i still had decent battery on the test builds.

Your explanation is very much appreciated but......
I never thought I'd say this and it's subject to change from hour to hour...... I'm pretty much stuck on Gingeritis 3D, getting up in the AM, subjecting the phone to fairly heavy use and seeing 50% battery or more remaining when I go to bed is something I thought I'd never see after abandoning my BB for Android and.....
I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for messing with this phone for some reason? Every thing works now with Thunderstick BB or Eternity or Liquid or ???? and the only reason I change from one ROM to another is some minor annoyances and battery life so.... I think maybe I'll leave well enough alone.
I'm saving my flashing desires for when the devs get ICS with Sense 4.x, I'll don't think I'll flash ICS with Sense 3.x and I might just wait for Jellybean?
I have about forever left on my contract and then we'll see what's up.
So it changed as I said it might! Tried the Bamf kernel and battery life is back to normal.
Up until yesterday I had been running the Thunderstick GenII rom for the last 6-7 months (been running Thunderstick roms since last September..when Verizon bricked my phone with their update). It is a very stable Sense rom, and the only issue I had with it was my custom ring tones would sometimes get confused. The only reason I upgraded was to try something new (now running Thunderstick FullBlown) and I am half tempted to go back to the GenII just because it has some features I like that the FullBlown version does not.
Been running ThunderStick ROMS (FB, BB) for a good while... They just work on my phone. YMMV. Flashed SfKCM7 (AOSP) last nite and it runs real smooth... Gonna ride with this til I get the itch

No matter what rom I try I always end up back on Skyraider. It's the fastest sense rom I've ever used.

Most stable rom?

I just ordered an Amaze for $250 and I am pretty stocked, coming from the mytouch 4g. I noticed that a lot of the roms appear to not have data working. Is there a complete ics rom you would recommend to flash for the first rom? Also how is stock ics rom?
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
Stock rooted most stable and is the best rom for this phone imo. ARHD was my favorite deodexed.
If you want mods and a different aosp look.. you can do all that yourself on one of the two above with flashable mods and nova launcher.
Its probably best to read up on all of the ROMs and try them yourself to make your own judgement. This thread will just lead to a few devs shouting out their own roms and their fans following close behind. I know this because this isnt the first time a thread like this has appeared. Im sure u searched before posting though so no worries

For ICS, I'd suggest ARHD (as previously posted). However, for Gingerbread, I'd suggest BulletProof. BulletProof is what I was running prior to migrating to ICS.
Thanks everyone I would definitely flash ARHD first that is after I get a feel for stock rom. I also found the the Amazing guide stickied on the dev section to really nice. I hope to see it explode pretty soon

I tried most if not all ROMs. If you want ICS I say go with NRGs stock Rom with faux new kernel. Been my daily driver for a few months now except the kernel that just dropped. If your gonna be on GB then I also 2nd Bulletproof.
Patiently waiting for some CM9 or 10. Which looks like we'll probably have by August, September.

Whether you use energy with or without stock look, it is the rom I keep going to.. I never have issues with it. I debloat the hell out of it mind you, I don't leave rosie or any other sense feature, but as far as stability, battery, etc is concerned, it is my default rom of choice, and I have tried them all pretty extensively.
If you get the latest build you have to make sure to increase the minimum clock speed to 384 which just requires two little edits in the init.post_boot.sh file in the system/etc directory.
And despite what GG said, even tho I love him(no homo), I am not a fanboy by any means..
I use hd revolution on sensation and amaze. On amaze, it will give you out of box ui but in back processes, lot of optimization were made.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Used ARHD when I had my amaze 4g and never used anything else, that was when it only had GB though, now that I got a GNex, I'm still using ARHD, one of the best Roms out there, no problems whatsoever, stable, and Mike is an all around great guy who puts much care into his Roms. (Not to say that others don't, I've used so many Roms its unbelievable, just like everyone else, and all devs are AWESOME!!!)

My word isn't really needed at this point, but **** it - Android Revolution HD (ARHD), just like the others have said.

Engery Rom is thee best choice
Energy Rom is the best in my opinion. I tried both clean rom and ADRHD or whatever it is call. I like Energy because it is Stable. Battery life to me is awesome, especially when I use my hotspot, Bluetooth and playing Poweramp plus I do play games and etc... Anyways that what I would recommend. Personally choose whatever fits your needs and do not go based off what we say. Remember the most popular rom for the Amaze may not be the best or work for your phone. Not all phones are created the same.

Help deciding on which ROM

Hey,
I've been thinking about rooting and roming my rezound. I was wondering which rom would be recommended at the moment?
I need almost everything to work. And I work 12 hour shifts, so I need decent battery life. I make it through a whole day stock, especially if I turn data off when I'm not using it. I would to maybe try to make it more smooth, faster, and have decent battery life. How stable are sense 4.0 roms? and cm9 based ones? I would just like some recommendations on what to try first. thanks!
I would definitely go with ViperRez . Very stable and good battery life.

Business ICS and vigor 360 have my vote, both are stable and *****BUGLESS*****. Sense 4 roms still have some kinks to be worked on

Ineffabilis deus 1.2 for sure. I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again. Ive flashed all kinds of ROMs but nothing is as perfect as Chingy's ROMs. Everything that I use works perfectly. Give it a shot.
BTW I'm not trying to say all the other ROMs aren't as good. What I should say is try them all out for yourself. Everyone has different tastes.

I can vouch for ineffabilis deus. The only problems I had was I couldn't get wifi tether to work and some minor glitches with the keyboard not popping up in text inputs on the main browser but using a different browser worked. I may have been the only one with those problems.. but it is a solid sense rom. Plenty of options to choose from when you flash it.
Now on cm9 Le noob and it's really smooth. In calls though the sound is a bit funky.. But everything is faast

We have great devs across the board for the Rezound and each offers something unique and cool for their ROMs. I would say try several and figure out what works best for you. I have used ViperRez, Nils Business Sense, Newt's, Neo's AOKP and NeoMax, Vigor, and Ineffabillis (current). I like them all and find certain aspects of each appeal to me. S-off opens a whole new door of possibilities. Have fun and enjoy the hunt.

I'd vote for either of Nils' ROMs. I'm running his Sense 4 ROM right now and the only bug I've found is that every now and then Facebook authentication fails and I have to log in again. That happens every other week or so. Battery life is really good, but I think all Sense 4 ROMS are pretty good on battery.

I have tried ClearRom4.5 and used it for a while, then I tried ViperRez1.0.3, Newts, and currently I am using Vigor360.
Honestly, if the camera will be stable in the ViperRez1.0.3, I would be still using it. So far, it is the ROM that gave me better battery life compared with others and it is very smooth imo.
I installed Newts and I was astonished with all the things loaded in there. Great ROM. Ubber stable. The camera is fast and didn't see any issues. Everything works in there. My only complain was that compared with other ICS ROMs it seems that it lags a bit for me and the battery drains faster than any other ROM I tried.
Because how stable is this ROM, I tried a couple of Kernels to see if I could get the same smoothness that I got with previous ICS ROMS. No luck!!
I just installed Vigor360 about a week ago and it is great too. Battery consumption is way better than Newts but less better than ViperRez. But the ROM is flawless and smooth. Probably same or better than ViperRez.
Benchmark in Quadrant Standard with all 4 different ROMS (with their original Kernels) gave me the average of:
- CleanRom4.5 **3100
- ViperRez 1.0.3 ** 3600
- Newts ** 2900
- Vigor360 **3100
Now, if we can have an ICS ROM that is stable as Newts, with the battery life of ViperRez and the smoothness of Vigor360, then we will have a winner.
If you don't need Sense, try Miui. The UI is very clean and smooth.
+1 for ViperRez. Stable, fast, and great battery life. Been using it since the end of July, & haven't looked back. Sense 4 is awesome. Now using it with DSB's kernel, which also works great. Camera and camcorder both working fine. Only "issue", if you want to call it that, is the data arrows not working, but you will see that with any of the Sense 4 ROMs, and to me, it is a non-issue. Awesome.
Oh, also, the Kindle app force closes, which has been reported, but again, no big deal to me, because I have my Nexus 7 for that, LOL.
Good luck, and enjoy.

Thank ya'll for all the replies. I'm kind of afraid to do the s-off thing right now, so i'm sticking with just unlocking and roming. So far the only one I've tried is Neo's Rage1.2 and its pretty awesome. When the screen is off it barely has battery drain at all. I'm interested in trying viperrez, but I think i read that he is about to release an update soon so I'll probably wait until it comes out. But an example of the battery life of rage1.2: I have the standard battery, its been off charge for 16h 47 min, with 1h 1 min screen on time and i'm sitting at 37% battery. Granted a lot of that time was with data off when i wasn't using it, but when I had the screen on data was on. Just figured I would throw that out there for anyone interested.
You've just got to try the ROMs man. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but there are one thousand threads about "best" ROMS, and each is equally useless. Your device, tastes, and desires are going to determine which ROMS are most successful for your setup. I can almost guarantee that if you flash ANY rom in the development thread that it's going to be great. Just a heads up, it's best to refrain from discussing "best" ROMS. It just pisses devs off.

I hope that it didn't offend anyone. I was just wondering what people that are using the ROMS thought about which one would be good for me based on what I was needing. Because I know some ROMS will be great, but not have as great of battery life as another ROM that is just as awesome. I like getting suggestions, and seeing what people like about which ROM. I will keep what you said in mind, and I really appreciate you letting me know that.
