[Q]Dock App - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got the gtab 10.1, my first tablet. I also got the dock for it. I noticed that when I dock it, it doesn't have a desk clock or anything like my other android phones do. Is there one in the market or somewhere in forums I can d/l. I tried searching both here and the market but didn't find anything.

Do i need my galaxy tab?

So I have the original galaxy tab,.I mainly use it for browsing when I can't be bothered to get the laptop out
But now with the s2 you can have multiple batteries and surely the screen is comfortable enough for browsing and the s2 is miles faster.
So do you guys think there is any need for a tab with a phone like the s2?

I've been debating whether to get a tablet but the SGS2 can do everything and everything fast. Why do I need a tablet I keep asking?
So as of yet, I haven't got a tablet as I don't need one.
The only thing when bigger screens apply to me is reading guitar tabs while playing but it should be big enough I hope

Android Market Update for phones working on tablets?

I occasionally check the other tablet forums and came across this APK of the phone market update and many people seem to be using the new market update on their tablets. From what I can gather from the xoom and iconia users is that it simply gives you two markets in your app drawer but it does seem to work. Although the "my apps" section is a little small.
One user from the download website posted he did this on his tab 10.1 with no problems. I would try it out but I always wait for a more established android user to say if something works before I try it. Any tab owners try this out for themselves already? What are your thoughts?

From what I understand the updated market for phones was explicitly made to be more tablet friendly in order to merge them at a later date with ice cream sandwich. I guess eventually our market will be updated to a styling very similar to the phone market. I haven't tried it myself but I don't see anything wrong with trying, just uninstall if it doesn't work.

I accidentally installed the new market on my 10.1 (wasn't paying attention to the apk I was installing). It does give you two markets, but it really screws with things... I got a lot of force closes, and it seemed to jump between the two markets. I wouldn't really suggest it.

Thanks man. Your more daring than I am. So updated market for phones is a no go then.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2
I have market version 3.1.5
this market version has been around a couple months.
Is this the market you are referring, or a newer one?

I got it after I rooted the phone.

When I booted the phone, it went to the old-style market. After a couple of hours, I went back in and it had changed to the current version.
It will always convert to the newer one unless you continually go back and swap it back. No use in fighting it, just get use to it.
3.1.5 here

The tmobile rep for my Target mobile kiosk (where I work) said the market looks different depending on the phone you have. I told him it always updates to the same one on all phones and he denied this... He said the green one is for some phones and the new dark one is for others. It pisses me off when ppl working in an area don't know what they're talking about -_____-

That's what I thought, but I have had my phone all day and using it extensively and it has still not changed.
i like the new market though! Very nice, simple, and fluid UI. Something I felt the Android was missing
New market 3.x sucks - it's buggy as hell.
Hopefully the downloads to /cache bug is less of an annoyance on our devices than the Infuse

No chan browsers will work?

Well hey guys, I love 4 chan just because of their style of humor. However, no browsers work. Yon, anonymous, etc always give me an error and just don't work. The actual websites work through chrome and android browser app, but id like to use an app. Help please!

Like I said I've tried them all. The issue I have started like 3 weeks ago when I still had my galaxy s. It just one day happened and then just followed me around!
Edit: just tried yon on my parents Xoom. Same error. Is it possible that Verizon fios and T-Mobile are blocking the app data, but not the actual website

Nook app on Android Note 10.1 (yes, I know, backwards, but read on...)

I know this is probably backwards, considering most are trying to port Android to the Nook, but I figured this would be the best place to start as extensive Googling is getting me nowhere.
I was finally able to get a Note 10.1 and ditch the apple world, however, the one and only downsife I have found is one app that I can't get on Android. The BrainQuest app, a fun quizzing app that I use for my gradeschool kids. They love it, but for some unbeknownst reason to me, the company has made an iPad app and a Nook app, but no Android app. My guess is that Barnes & Noble solicited themselves to BrainQuest, not that it really matters. I am just wish it was available for Android.
That said, is there any way to port a Nook app to an Android tablet? I didn't know if there was some way to drop an .apk file like you do with Android apps, or maybe even some kind of virtual port?
Thanks,
Roger

I would imagine it's just a normal app, so should be able to install the apk if you can find it, back it up from a Nook, etc. It's possible there B&N framework at play, or that the app won't work or look right, but not sure.
That was my thoughts too, however, I dont have a Nook i could retrieve it from, so I am womdering if there is a way to get it from the B&N app store or if anyone would be willing to get the free trials and pluck them out for me? There are 5 total.
