[Q] [View] OTA to get S-ON - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Can I run this OTA to return to a unrooted S-ON Evo View running GB so I can update to HC?
OTA_Express_Sprint_WWE_1.22.651.1-1.18.651.1_release_198260xikterg48lc0snx1.zip (26.87 MB)
Or can I by any chance do a straight update to HC without unrooting and not worry about bricking.

If you are already revolutionary s-off, follow this guide to update to honeycomb

I've seen that but it specifys that you need a GB RUU to get completly stock and that's what I'm missing I can't seem to track one down, I've followed 2 links I found here but the links were dead already.
If you would be so kind as to help me find one or possibly upload one I would be greatful.

As long as you didn't use Revolutionary to root or install the hard patched hboot from Shadowmite's thread (you will know if you did) the directions for rooted users in this thread will get you back

Except if you had read JCASE's thread, you'd know you're not supposed to go back to the MR1 RUU.

That is not referring to the MR1 build. It says 1.0xxxx. MR1 is 1.13.605.7. That is the pre-release build that was used for downgrading in the original root process. The problem was that build had an old hboot that wouldn't interrupt the flash before the security warning happens. Which was a serious issue when we only had 2 RUUs newer than that to recover with. Anything from the release firmware (1.12.605.6) and up should be perfectly fine.

This does work for revolutionay too to get s-on. I have done it twice. These developers are amazing. You need to know ADB to do it but it works.
I got the same site at: http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...ow-restore-stock-rooted-non-rooted-users.html

I know you can get back to s-on from Revolutionary. I was just saying as long as he didn't use Revolutionary the simple method in the thread I linked would work just fine.
Edit: I just realized you linked to the same instructions I did and you can NOT get back to s-on with that method if you used revolutionary. Revolutionary installs a hard patched hboot that prevents it from being overwritten by any hboot without issueing a specific fastboot oem command.

You need to follow Scotty85's tutorial in post 22 of this thread to get s-on after Revolutionary Untill they release an s-on tool.

hboot Downgrade

Okay guys ... I know the rules ... do a search and some reading before you ask a stupid question.
Well, I've been searching and reading for the last two hours and I have not found an answer to this, so here goes:
I am on HC (came that way), I am S-On and I've unlocked on htcdev.com (and can easily re-lock if needed). What I'd like is to get S-OFF, but Revolutionary doesn't support hboot 1.14.xx SO ...
Can I downgrade hboot WITHOUT running the GB RUU? My preference would be S-OFF and rooted (with CWM & SU) but keep HC for now.
If not, would I be correct in running Globatron's HC->GB downgrade, rooting then running his GB->HC upgrade?
Thanks!
JB
EVO 4G
Rooted Revolutionary
TWRP Recovery 2.0
MIUI 1.12.9
Tiamat 4.1.0-sbc+
EVO View 4G
Stock HC
hboot 1.14.0005
HTC Sense 1.1
Honeycomb requires it's own Hboot, GB hboots are not compatible.
No you can't downgrade without an RUU or my light downgrade methods. Hboot is only part of the story.
I'm wondering if you had any luck Rooting it? I have a same problem, mine is also HC and with 1.14.0005 HBoot, how did you Root it?

I think you need to downgrade to GB, root and S-Off with Revolutionary, then you can upgrade back to HC with globatron's method.

[q] htc dev unlocked & s-on

Dear fellow XDA members,
I am in need of some assistance. I just got my HTC EVO VIEW 4G and unfortunately, I accidentally upgraded to Android 3.2 HoneyComb without doing the Revolutionary S-OFF, so currently I did an HTC Dev unlock on my View but it still says "EXPRESS PVT SHIP S-ON RL" and it also updated the "HBOOT-1.14.0005." I tried checking out Revolutionary website and it does not support HBOOT-1.14.0005, so I was wondering what can I do? Do I need S-OFF for anything? I currently have Clockwork Mod installed on my View but it still has S-ON so I was scared about flashing ROMS. I am trying to flash Desensed 1.5 but is scared that I need S-OFF to do so... Can anyone chime in to help me please...
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
PS: BTW, I been searching and reading and rereading.... I just don't understand..
1) You'll need to downgrade to GB
2) you'll then need to run revolutionary for S-OFF
3) you can then re-upgrade to HC S-OFF

I don't think there is anything in the tool, that globatron hasn't already written a guide for on the Flyer. And none of them are hard to do. Anything particular you are trying to do?
ive done the OTA update, and then unlocked using HTC-DEV method becasue my HBOOT is 11.11.0011 and revolutionary didnt liost that hboot as being compatible. Ive been able to install a revolutionary Clockwork mod nad then went ahead and flashed LeeDriods ROM. But now it just starts up with the R2D2 sounds, boots a little and restarts.
Ive been reading and I think it either needs to flashed from fastboot or need to downgrade to GB and relevant hboot.
Also even though I have unlocked the bootlaoder from htc-dev it still says "s-on"?
I'm in the same boat. My flyer is
Hboot 1.11.001
OTA to HC
Unlocked the bootloader using HTC method
Load CW recovery.
Can I just follow the directions to down grade?
sorry to ask people for help again.. but there are alot of guides for unlocking/downgrading/flashing etc. could someone just point me in the right direction of one guide that is applicable to my particular case?
thank you.

I don't know why people keep coming on here and asking why they still have S-On after HTC Unlock. Its never been stated that HTC Unlock gets you S-Off, it just gives you an unlocked bootloader, which is not the same thing.
If you want real S-Off, downgrade and root using globatron's guide:
htthttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307759p://
Then you can upgrade back to HC if you want using the following guide (also by globatron, becuase he's the man). You will also need to have the HC Hboot if you want to flash a HC custom ROM, which is also described in the following guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
If you want to flash a custom ROM without getting S-Off, from my understanding you can do so using fastboot. But I haven't seen any step-by-step guide. You might start reading here:

It might be just me but I don't see anything in these guides with anything to downgrade the hboot on 16gb Flyer to gain compatibility with Rev. root method. It is not for me personally but seems others here are having that issue. With those newer hboot versions is there even anything that can be done at this time?
My understanding is that when unlocked with HTC dev you can flash recovery then adb push gb hboot while in recovery then run appropriate gb ruu. Once on gb rev s off then update to hc s off

Stock RUU

Im new to the thunderbolt. I'm familiar with how to root this. Same thing as my old evo 4g from sprint. But I can't find download links that actually work for me to downgrade this thing. It came outta the box with the latest OTA and I want it rooted. Anyone have working download links for stock RUU's that I can use revolutionary to root this?

[Q] Get back to stock from ICS

Hey guys I am S-On and I thought all I would have to do is relock bootloader and flash a RUU from Gingerbread TMO-US but it gave me an error saying HBOOT is too new, so I have no clue where to go from here, I've tried everything. Any ideas?

You can't go back to gingerbread unless you have s-off,because the ics ruu updates hboot/bootloader on install, I read that you can't even get s-off on the new ics ruu leak so I think your stuck with this untill someone comes out with a method for s-off on ics...
That's the risk you took when you updated. I had s-on aswell when the leak came out but I S-OFFed just to be safe, did not want to be stuck if I wanted to go back..

I may be wrong, but I read somewhere that you still can get an s-off after upgrading your device to ICS. I just went to the JuopunutBear Public Beta page and saw that they have ICS version, too.

No! I had no intention to correct you, or anything. I said, "I may be wrong" meaning I am not really sure! I did it the right way myself, so I didn't try the method.
Anyway, I hope the OP tries the method and report back to us with what happened for everyone's benefit!
