[Q]Passion V8 (seemingly) randomly restarts it's self, also gallery problems - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How's that for adverbs?
As the title states, I am running ICS Passion V8, and it seems to restart itself randomly. Any ideas?

go to that post
and use the build.prop from there and replace it in /system/
that should fix it according to most people.

Thanks so much!
Anyone happen to know why pictures wont show up in the gallery?

No luck there, I can use root explorer to see the files on the internal SD, but they wont show up in the stock gallery, although using another gallery app from the market works. Music is also not showing up in the music app.

[Q] Nook Tablet Partitions

I finished rooting my Nook Tablet and started copying over files to the /data/media directory. However, none of my music shows up in any of my apps. Why not?
well it does not allow you to copy for some reason
(at least for me)
it just crashes and when i go and see it , it not there.
^(probably did not help, but...)

Yes, I gave permission to all of them. None of the files show up in any of my programs, they all say that I don't have an SD Card mounted or just won't show anything.

If you don't see the SD card just pop it out and reinsert it. That's a common thing for the NT.

Did I copy the files to the right directory? How do I get them to show up in my programs?
Edit: This is seriously bothering me now, I have 12 GB and I can't use any of it because none of those files will show up in ANY of my picture/video/music apps. Isn't there any way to link a folder into the internal SD card so that the apps think it's on the internal SD card?

Can't access Ext. SD.?

Only file app that sees the external is the built in File Explorer that came with the phone. Using Root Explorer...and there is no external SD folder.
Titanium Backup shows the capacity of the external...but when trying to select it's default backup folder...the only option I have is the internal.
Any help on this?

Your problem is a little different than mine.
I couldn't find mine. It's moved.
It's now at /mnt/externalSD or something very similar to that.
Hopefully that's all it is for you?

Lost internal Memory Photos - Help!

Hey, I've lost all photos from my S3, when i was installing the JellyBean leak. There isn't any way to mount internal SD card? because all the apps that i downloaded to mount it, don't work. When I try to use a program to recover the photos (like recuva), don't recognize any disk. There is anything I can do? Like resign to recover anything ?
Try via Android Commander and locate your DCIM folder .
But you may have wiped it .
Photos will be in your Nandroid backup .

Did you do a nandroid backup before flashing the leaked Rom??
If no, then there's not much you can do about it.
The same thing happened to me too
Lost all the photos.. I had totally forgotten to backup the DCIM folder.

Hi!
I am facing the same problem here, but i have a nandroid backup...!
Can i retrieve photos from that??
No, Nandroid only backps the system, not the storage locations.
Sorry to hear you lost your data, but you most probably have no chance of getting them back.
I'd recommend using a sync tool to keep the important data (Call logs, SMS's, photos, ...) all stored on the cloud (usually Google servers) so even in worst-case scenarios you still have at least access to those.

Nandroid does not backup internal sdcard.. So most probably your photos are lost.. In future use drop box to sync your photos automatically.. You can never be too sure..
Also, use cwm rather than odin to flash firmwares..

Hey bud, so i've run into this also, how i got back my files was by using one of the data recovery apps located on the play store. just type in a search for "data recovery" and there should be a bunch for ya. try some different ones out if the first doesn't work for you =) hope that helps!

[Q] Noob question about flashing ROMs

I searched all over and couldn't find a thread that answered this, so I'm sorry if there is. I just couldn't find it.
So, I have a Galaxy S2 i9100 International with the stock 16GB internal storage. I'm moving from SuperNexus Android 4.1 Jellybean to the latest nightly build of Cyanogenmod 10.1 Android 4.2 Jellybean.
My question is: Will the data (music, pictures, etc.) be deleted from the internal storage after I do a full wipe on my device with ClockworkMod Recovery?
I haven't flashed a ROM in a long time so I don't remember the answer to this...
Thanks!
This depends on if you have them stored in default folders. ie if your referring to your camera pics then yes I think that folder is cleaned.
External card and custom folders/files on internal wont be touched by wipe.
Just move your DCIM (Camera) folder to external and it will be fine.

Ok, I'll do that. I made a music folder in my phone with over 4.5GB of music that I do not want to lose, will it be fine inside of the phone?

Cmon dude, stop asking silly questions when you can just look and answer yourself. Just mount storage and copy it across to PC.

[Q] Log folder getting full

Hi guys,
I've searched on the forums and found nothing that answers my doubts...
Yesterday my SGS2 was showing a "Memory Full" notification.
I've browsed through the folders and found a "log" foldet getting full with "logcat_cp_boot_radio_201303251248_35.log" files, with 1.2 and 1.5Mb
And there were A lot of them...
So, i've renamed the folder to ---log---, rebooted and after a while there was another "log" folder with a bunch of logfiles.
My question:
What process is generating there logs, and is there a way of disabling it? (wow that was 2 questions )
ROM: I9100XXLS8
Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you ever install something to get a logcat log? Or maybe, by accident, a kernel option?

As far as Î can recall, no. No Logcat app, and kernel option does not ring any bell.
Besides, if it is a kernel option, there must be an option to enable/disable logging, right?

Where did you find the folder? Just /logs or /system/logs?
Maybe your build.prop or init files will tell you something.
AFAIK you can delete them, then you can check when they are created. (Probably right after the boot)

Yes, it is just "/log" on the internal sdcard.
I'll check build.prop for any information.

Well, both are true.
My internal sdcard is getting full.
/system has 233Mb free.
I can deal with the logs issue, by deleting them.
Most of my apps are on external sdcard.
