As far as I know you can't directly root the 2.3.6 update. You need to root before you update and use a root saving app to allow you to reapply root after the update.
If you used the OTA here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353142 you can downgrade to SPU9 with RSD lite, apply root and then upgrade again keeping root using vodoo rootkeeper. The instructions are in the first post.

Thank a lot for your reply.
But, my razr is not EU. it's korea XT910S.
And then can't return back 2.3.5.
So, big problem.
Thanks again.

Wait, didn't you invent the razr bootstrap?

Hi, zeidof.
Thanks for any help was the last time.
But, it was failed flash on my Razr.
It seems like bootloader lock is different.
I think, must only wait for Korea SBF is leaked.
Or need to another root way.
Now i'm using an ordinary Razr, because my mistake.

Yes, it can be rooted.
I lost root. The method does work.
You MUST reboot phone and start fresh.
It must be a freshly booted system or the exploit may not work.
It worked for me.

I believe he means that you need to power your device off then power it back on then proceed. Whether it works or not, I do not know.

How to root Korean Razr XT910K?
Hi.
How to root Korean Razr XT910K? I've already updated this new (yet un-rooted) phone to official Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4.
I don't want to install other rom, but I only want to be able to backup & recover all my apps+data in the future and to remove (if possible in my case) some stock apps which I don't need.
I tried to search an appropriate thread to post and this one seemed to be the closest one.
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
Is there a rooting feedback from anyone for this Korean Razr XT910K with this tool?
Because korean smartphones are so customized by providers that they are different from others. This makes them a little complex and risky to root without hearing some experience. Especially, taking into account that it's already updated and now it has:
- Android 4.0.4
- System version: 67.42.17.XT910K.KT.en.KR
- Firmware: GAS_ASIA_SPYDERICSKT_P006
- Baseband: U_KR_04.03.00R
- Kernel: 3.0.8-gf9e09c1 [email protected] #1
- Webtop: wt-3.0.0
- AP flex: GAS_ASIA_SPYDERICSKT_P006, GAS_ASIA_SPYDERICSKT_A002
- Build number: 6.7.4-27_SA-17
Finally, I wouldn't like to get a new and advanced "media player" for $270 named Motorola Razr
Thanks for any constructive input.

[Q] Rooting not successful

I have pretty much read through the entirety of the Bootloader thread in Dev and while I found similar questions I didn't find an answer so I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. This is my second Rezound, I was able to root the first but it died (Thank goodness I got their warranty) so on to number two. I got it unlocked and I am running the one click. I was making the normal mistakes of not getting rid of sync, alternate adb etc. but I have cleared all that and now I get the following:

Follow the link in my sig... One click won't work anymore with the OTA firmware.
i think i can help
hold down the -volume button and hold the power down get into hboot push pwer once and go to recovery (note hit the power button to select ) now in blue screen go to devopment menu hit power now go to install su&superuser now reboot and you are rooted. i spent hours trying to root and nowhere does it say to do this but it worked for me now check for root from basic root checker if it works hit the thanks button
You have to gain root through recovery now as far as I know.

Con,
I want to use CWM since I paid for it with my last phone. You reference the OTA update version of the CWMPH98IMG.zip where might I find that?
You have to use amon ra to get root. Afterwards you can reinstall cwm. I don't have an ota package of cwm because at this point amon ra is better for this phone and I still don't reccomend using cwm. If you want it, get it from rom manager after you root.

Understood. I know that Koush did release a recovery for the Rezound. At least it shows up in ROM Manager. Out of curiosity is it possible to use Rom Manager with Amon Ra's Recovery?

No, you can use reboot to recovery with amon ra , but nothing else will work with it.
Bummer. Okay I downloaded OTAUPDATEAmonRaPH98IMG.zip and followed the directions in Con's guide and got to step 8 where the green text scrolled through but I did not get a prompt it popped me back to the HBOOT menu at which point I wasn't sure what to do. I rebooted and ran Root check but no root and I'm not sure what it is I'm going wrong.
Did you install SU from the developer menu in Amon RA?

Not that I'm aware of. Unlocked via HTC Dev then ran the OneClick. After that failed I posted this thread. I did download the CWM version but did not flash it. The rest is in the thread.

Did you put the amon ra image in the same directory as fastboot and run the fastboot command from the cmd line? I just updated mine today to the newest version.

Cons directions said to do it from the phone. So I'm not sure what you're suggesting. I've never used fastboot from the command line except to follow HTC Dev directions.
Okay so here's a new twist I tried running the bootloader again on the phone and was able to catch that the green text said no image. It went so fast I wasn't able to be sure. I'm going to try downloading and flashing again.
Ok let me see if I can set this up for you. Its pretty easy.
Download this file.
Place it in the same folder that you setup for the HTCdev unlock.
Rename it to "recovery."
Go to the command prompt and type in this command: cd c:\nameoffolder (mine is c:\Android for example)
Boot into Hboot
Select Fastboot
Connect to PC
Then type this exactly : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
That should get you loaded with Amon Ra.

That's a good utility, but bear in mind that you'll be on 651.73.30, which is the EU version. If you want back your original, you should use either RSD or Fla****, together with the fastboot files.

whast lazy panda ?
One, this should have been posted in the q&a thread.
Two, lazy panda is a method to achieve s-off. Make sure your not on hboot 1.15. If you are, just kick it for a bit.
You can also unlock it through HTC dev, load a custom Rom that's already rooted (I like meanrom), and wait further development for hboot 1.15

hello..
Hello fnd.. Am also using SE Xperia neo V 2....Am also upgraded frm GB to ICS 4.0.4. but i can't root my phone yet 2day... If u got any choice to root ur phone pls post me... If i got any ans to root my phone den i'll post on ur thread..
Here is the solution
First go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26798415&postcount=141
Download MT11i .562 and .431 kernel
Then Install Flashtool (Search in the neo development section )
After installation of flashtool Go to the directory where u installed flashtool (in my case its ( C:/ Flashtool)
There u will find a folder called firmwares .(Delete any file if it is in that folder )
Copy .562 kernel.ftf to ur firmware folder
Open Flashtool (Run as adminstrator if required )
There u will find a Flash icon .click on it .
Two modes will be there Flashmode and Fastboot
Select Flashmode
Power off your device
Press and hold the back button and insert the USB cable ( Instruction screen will appear)
Check the log on flashtool
it will say 0 bad block encountered
Finished Flashing
Then Disconnect your device
Reboot ur device
Then use doomlords rooting method to root ur phone
once rooted it will show superuser app in ur app menu
To get back to .431 kernel do the same steps as u did to install .562 kernel
remember to clear ur firmware folder after flashing a ftf
Thanks for the help mate.
Thank you Abhiheart. I followed these steps and was able to root.
As you said my kernal will be moved to .562

But still I am able to see the Build number in my settings as 4.1.B.0.431 only.
I am able to see the SuperUser app and also can provide root access to other apps which asks for. But still I don't know that my bootloader is unlocked or still locked? And how can check that? as trackid app is still working.
I have installed x-Parts recovery and took a backup using that.
What need else need to be done for trying different stock ROMs or custom ROMs?
Thanks a ton,

On stock rom open dial pad and type *#*#service#*#*
Scroll through the service menu and find your network rooting status.
you will find something like bootloader unlock allowed: yes
Rooting your phone will not unlock you bootloader. It only gives you super user access.
Unlocking bootloader is a totally different step to do.
Kernel from build .562 is an older kernel compared to .431. At .562 we are still able to use an exploit to root the phone. At .431 Sony closed that possibility. That's why you have to flash the 562 kernel first. Than you can flash back the 431 and root will still remain.

Is still my neo v bootloader is locked?
Thanks for this info.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if bootloader unlocked allowed: yes then it means bootloader can be unlocked it does'nt mean it is already unlocked.

This is what I want to know that how can I check that is my bootloader unlocked or not? and if not how can I unlock my bootloader?
And is it necessary to have an unlocked bootloader to install stock/custom rom?

When it says bootloader unlock allowed: yes, it means
1. you can unlock your bootloader but it doesn' t mean that it is unlocked already. With unlock allowed no you cant unlock your bootloader
2. it depends on the way you unlock your bootloader.
my previous phone was a live with walkman which i unlocked via official sony method. the status changed to bootloader unlocked yes.
I unlocked my current phone mt11i via test point. It still say unlock allowed: yes. So now changed compared to bootloader locked status.
But it is unlocked because i can flash custom kernels.
The best way to check your bootloader is trying to flash a custom kernel.
If you succeded your bootloader is unlocked.
Dont forget to check that flash tool, phone drivers and adb drivers a installed properly. You need them to flash the kernel succesfully.

If I remember correctly, meaning if nothing changed in last year since I don't have Neo V, those with locked bootloader and .587 fw can't be rooted directly, follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690

Since there is no newer fw version than .587, at least I believe so, if you use update service, it will reinstal/repair your rom, meaning you will get clean rom, meaning you will lose root.
To get root again, use whatever you used this time. Since I didn't use eroot, I can only advise you to use what I already advised above.
Dont use Update service from sony as it will fix your phone and remove root access...
As our friend said, You better download .587 ftf and flash it using flashtool and then only flash the kernal of .562 ftf.
After that use doomlord's tool and after you get root access flash .587's kernal again..
There are no new fw updates after that and moreover .587's baseband is good for battery in comparison to other firmwares.

Also dont run the doomlord's tool as administrator on windows because i once encountered same problem like yours due to doing so.
hope you got the solution to your problem

i have use update service to install the rom and kernel again and got the root excess again and then i install cwm using cwminstall.cmd
and it did not show any error but to install cwm does it require unlocked bootloader to install cwm.

Just to clear up something. In both ways, full flash removes root, so it doesn't matter if he use update service or flashtool, meaning no advance in flashtool over updateservice.
