Battery life with Hyperdroid 4.4.7 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since i'm not allowed to post in the dev section of the Hyperdroid thread i'll ask this here.
I'm running on Hyperdroid 4.4.7 with the latest Ultimate kernel but batterydrain is pretty high.
On 3.x and 4.0 it lasted over 72-80 hours with medium useage, now with the same usage it's on 55% after 12 hours.
I tried emptying the caches and a re-wipe but battery drain stays the same.
Is this normal for the 4.4.7 update?
Thanks
Arjan

72-80 hours with medium usage? LOL! What's medium usage for you? Also what battery do you have installed?
You can try to delete battery stats and give the phone around 4-5 cycles till the battery recalibrates itself.

Hehe medium usage for me means 32 active apps of which 7 update every 15-60 mins, screen on every 15 mins, fulltime wifi, an hour a day orso bluetooth connection, just normal use i think.
I use the standard battery and i will wipe the battery stats to see how that works.
Maybe i'm just spoiled..

nero 4.1 sudden drop in battery life

i've been running Nero 4.1 since it was posted and battery life was fine, suddenly last week it has been cut in half. I didn't load any new apps or change any of my settings or usage habits. I was getting 25+ hours and now I get 16 tops with very light usage. My battery stats say display is using 73% but the phone is idle most of the day. What could have caused this? Also I have tried conditioning the battery, it didn't seem to make a difference ,and, I flashed the rom with 100% charge.
did you condition it right?

Bad battery life - never sleeps

Hi,
X10 Mini Pro here - the battery only lasts about 16 hours without ANY activity on the phone (only 2G radio on, no calls, no using the display, nothing!). If I check partial wake usage I see Messaging is keeping the phone up the whole time (15 hours out of 16 hours). How do I solve this?
With normal use (calls/browsing/apps etc) it lasts less than 8 hours!
did u find solution pls tell me also same problem
for messaging go to cyanogenmod settings-preformance settings and disable lock messaging app in memory.
then set wifi to never sleep.
my battery life is arond 36 hour (ni data conection only if i recive mms, wifi around 1 hour per day, around 10 calls per day, around 30 sms per day, brightness around 65%,and auto kill apps)
I'm running stock latest 2.1. Messaging today is 8 hours lock wake out of 9 hours. Battery at 50% with NO use!
Did a backup, reinstalled everything through SEUS, then restored. Now back to normal. Just back from 8 hours of work and battery is only down 20%.
my phone gives a backup of more than 2 days......here is how...
for both stock and custom rom.....nd if u have root access....then u shud use SetCpu and Auto killer memory optimiser...set both of them to ondemand and optimum resp. and charge ur phone only when its <10% and avoid disconnecting it until its completely charged....this would improve ur battery backup and lso battery life.....significantly..see if dat works for u guys...
If you have flashed a rom, then you must fully charge the battery, immediately Wipe Battery Stats, then let it full drain and battery would be almost fixed. After full drain, fully charge it. When it says completed pull out battery and put it back and charge. You'll notice that battery level is ~84% even if you fully charge before. After full charge, pull battery out and do the same as mentioned before until you charge phone and battery level is always 100% or 99%.
That would make battery last longer.
And... If you have CM, undervolting saves very muuuuuuuuuuch battery and you should underclock when you are planning not to use phone for some hours... Of course freeing memory is essential, because you kill the apps which use your phone, as a result your battery too!
Good luck! ;-)

Nice im going to try some of the suggestions above
my battery also drains pretty fast!

Help with my battery?

My battery has horrible life. I'm rooted running evil fascination and have done all the things that typically help with battery life such as disabling gps and wifi, and lowering brightness. In fact my brightness is currently as low as it gets and my battery use shows my display as 99% of my current usage. Even though I just took my phone off the charger 15 minutes ago and it's already at 85%. I know my screen can't possibly have taken that much battery so fast. It also takes about 4 hours to charge from zero to 100 because it's draining so fast. Can anyone give me some advice? I downloaded an app that shows my current mah or whatever but I don't know what that means. I notice when it's at 270mah my battery drains fast which is most of the time but a few times it has been at 2 mah and it doesn't drain fast then.
sounds like a rogue app keeping your phone/screen running when off.. I had the same problem a while ago, 96% screen usage and taking 6 hours to charge then draining to zero in an hour and a half.. unfortunately the only thing that fixed it for me was a complete data/cache wipe and reflash of the rom, I think I was on superclean 2.9.2 at the time.. could be the battery being wonky also, you might wanna look into the battery calibration app on the market or wiping batt stats in CWR

[Q] Battery life normal?

Hi guys,
I'm using GingerMod v0.3 with the default kernel (ninphetamine 2.1.3).
My battery was at 100% when i went to sleep. After about 8 hours when i woke up, it dropped to 92%. Is that normal?
I have turned off automatic sync as well as gps. Even "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" was off. Display was at a minimum 3%. Most of the battery % was used up by Android OS.
given the percentage of the draining 8% over 8 hours i quess is pretty good. I quess different rom + kernel produce different effects. Yours is considered ok.
ya the drain is quite normal

1% an hour during sleep mode is considered good? i had the impression that it would only drop 3-4% during sleep.

More than good I'd say. And you never can have a constant rate, one night it will be 3-4%, other night it will be 9-10%, depends on the processes running at that period. If you have Better Battery Stats installed then you will be able to see what had cost that extra drainage under Partial Wakelocks section.
I normally have 3-4% drain in an overnight period of 8-9 hours, but yesterday it was 15%. Then I saw it was Camera360 Ultimate which was running and searching for GPS!
Regards.
That's about similar to what i get on standby with data enabled so yeah good battery there/
Thats good ? Mine drops 1 percent overnight (+-10 hours) with original battery Or stays at 100 until morning when I wake up with 2000mah bat... Data and wifi turned off.
But I presume thats just me being battery friendly user
I tried better battery stats and it seems the Email app is consuming the most resources during sleep. hmm...

[Q][SK17i][FXP117 7.2.0] Battery curve readings

Hello,
I've been wondering if it's possible to recalibrate how the system reads the remaining battery charge. I'm using Rage 2.8 kernel for FXP and battery life is very good (over 30h with moderate HSDPA youtube streaming, browsing etc.), but what bugs me is that it goes from 100% to 80% extremely fast, then it slows down as it reaches 0%, it can hang on 1% for an hour before it finally shuts down.
I'd like it to be somewhat linear (even if the real physical battery discharge cycle is not linear), is it possible?
Cheers!

Depends how you and other apps really use the phone.
I've done idle testing with screen off and no apps, the drain is simply faster at the beginning after charging and later slows down to the point where streaming youtube "eats" less power than idling at 99%. I'm not saying it really does that (because it's impossible), it's just that (I guess) the physical battery discharge curve is like this, but that doesn't really help me at all with estimating how much time I have left.
I may be wrong, but I've tested this twice now (going from 100% to 0%) and it's always faster in the beginning completely regardless of what I'm doing with the phone.
I dont want to **** on the cake but if you care about battery-life you should not use a CM-rom. I used CM-7.2 for 6 months and now switched to a stock-based rom (Spartan). The result is twice the battery-life. CM's battery consumption is horrible especially when the phone is idle. I used to lose 20% during 8h of airplane mode. Now i lose 1-2% without airplane-mode.
Actually, the battery life is just fine for me. I agree, pure CM 7.2.0 drains the battery like there's no tomorrow, but Rage kernel alleviates that by a lot.
The reason I don't use official rom mods is that I like CM a lot, and while battery life could get some more love from the devs it's certainly not that bad, especially with Rage kernel. 30h+ with normal usage, internet, browsing, youtube etc. isn't that bad.
My problem is not that the battery is drained fast, but that the percentage display goes down unevenly regardless of usage. Let's say we compare idle to idle, no airplane mode, no background apps. When the percentage is at 99% it goes down about 5% in an hour (I didn't measure it with a timer, but it's a good estimate), while when the percentage is at 20% it goes down about 1-2% in an hour.
Here s an also weird graph!
Stock Rom .62 rooted.
Check the vertical drops!

No problems.Just weird.

Ok, after deleting battery logs after fully charging the phone (although I don't know whether it was this or something else, maybe it just needed three charges) I got a linear discharge curve. Also, now it turns off at 2%.
BTW battery life on CM 7.2.0 - this time (with LAGLESS governor) it got the phone to 59 hours, which I think is really good enough. Rage kernel FTW. Of course, with LAGLESS and stock rom it'd probably reach over 70. Still, I don't need that much, and CM is great.
-- edit --
After another change (switching to 2G when data transmission isn't needed) the phone eats 0.6% battery per hour. Now I really don't need stock.
