Hi everyone,
I searched the forums to see if anyone else was having bluetooth reception and range issues but came up short.
I'm having problems keeping my Plantronics Voyager Pro + headset connected to the phone. I usually have to have it within 3 feet of the phone, or I get a lot of static or BT disconnects completely. What's weird is I am able to stay connected up to 20 feet away with my Jabra bluetooth speaker. I recently bought a hard plastic case for the phone which made the problem a little worse, but not too much (5 feet range vs 3 or 4).
Anyone else having this issue? I just bought the phone on 12/17 and I think I have 30 days to exchange or return. Are there any fixes out there that have worked for anyone?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!
*** Update: I just re-paired my Voyager Pro + headset with my old HTC HD2 and was able to walk about 25 feet away from the phone (two walls in between) and had no static or disconnects. Must be the Amaze. ***
I've been using the Motorola S305, and I can be two rooms away, and still get good reception from the phone, so long as doors are open. Like every bluetooth headset I've used, getting my body between the phone and the headset is a problem (phone needs to be in a pocket on the same side of my body as the headset BT receiver). The quality of the bluetooth on this phone seems to be superior to that of my old N1. No complaints.
Thanks Dave. Are Bluetooth issues such as these hardware or software issues?
Get new earphones.

I called T-Mobile and they said the bluetooth connectivity/range problem is a known issue for the Amaze 4G. HTC is currently working on a solution that will likely be resolved on the next software update.
Off I go to buy a set of wired earphones until they release it.
Curious--I wonder why I'm having no difficulties, then. I've connected the Amaze to my N1, the amaze to my ASUS Transformer, and the Amaze to my S305 headset, all with no problems.
Not all the profiles I'd like to see supported necessarily are (Can't get DUN to work), but I'm puzzled that there's apparently some problem.
It's interesting that your Voyager worked so well with the HD2.
On the Tmobile forums, there's certainly discussion:
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/10520
So far I have talked on BT with no issues. I set the phone on my desk and I walk around my room without issues, distance is no more than 10 feet, but works without issues.
Get the latest updates for you phone. Delete the pairing with your Bluetooth then pair again. I have a Jawbone Era and my reception was horrible. My reception is much better now after updating and pairing again, although I still have a long delay between phone and Bluetooth.
Only issue I have is delay when making call. Recieving the call is fine

I have a hard time connecting to my car's bluetooth. I have to play around with the settings until it links up but that's such a hassle. Also, I noticed that after turning bluetooth on, I would sometimes lose signal. Weird..

Hello,
I have the Verizon version of the Titan, with the newest ROM / Radio installed as of 7/5/08. I am having issues with a Motorola S9 Stereo bluetooth headset. Whenever the headset is more than about 2 feet away from the phone, the performance is intermittant. I get about 25% of the signal when listening to Media Player or TCPMP.
Does anyone have any information or troubleshooting suggestions on how to fix this issue? Any and all responses are much appreciated.
Thank you.
I have the same phone/headphones and have the same problem. I believe the headphones aren't meant to be used far away. I keep the phone in my hand but if its in my pocket sometimes the music will cutout. I'm assuming since it's meant to be used in a gym they didn't make it very strong so people don't pair your headphones with their phone thinking its their headphones. I also have a pair of sharper image bluetooth speakers and noticed that I have to keep my phone within 5-10 feet or else I'll have the same problem. Maybe our bluetooth isn't very strong either.
same here
Same issue. I can't walk with the phone in my pocket and the listen without music cutting out. I am returning them this week. They do work well, however, if I have the phone setting on my desk.
i have similar issues, they work great indoors, the problem is outside...
the manual does say that other signals outside interfere with the bluetooth signal, and i definitely find this to be true.
i was able to get a price match at bestbuy, so mine only cost 40 bucks.
I figure theyre worth that for when im on the train or bus, or when im at the gym. signal works fine for those times, just not so great walking/running down the street.
Outdoor issues
I agree, the issues seem to be mostly when using the devices outdoors. When indoors, I can go 30 feet away and the signal is clear without skipping. Outside, when the phone is in my pocket, the signal cuts out every 5 seconds or so.
Any ideas or suggestions helpful.
Thank you.
I enjoy listening to my podcast's all day long. However, my bluetooth disconnects without warning nor is it predictable. The bluetooth indicator is lit blue as if is connected. Also, in settings, there is no sign of it being disconnected. The only way to get my bluetooth to reconnect is to toggle my bluetooth off and then on again.
I tried to replicate the issue at the Best Buy where i bought the phone, but had no luck getting this to happen. Best Buy replaced the phone only to find out that i still have the same issue.
I typically use Dogcatcher for podcasts. Uninstalled it and started using Stitcher. Unfortunately still getting this issue. Even went as far as buying a different brand of stereo bluetooth headset.
Any one have any ideas?
Sorry, no idea. Try posting in the Motorola Owner's Forum and see if the Moto techs can shed some light on it.
Just for reference....I use a Blueant Q1 headset and Motorola S10HD headphones and no issues with disconnects, at least with music or audiobooks.
I was actually going to post something about this but haven't got around to it. Mine disconnects all the time, I have to shut off/on and then it will reconnect. It sucks. Also, when I put my phone in my pocket when I'm on my phone I get some very crappy sounds through my BT. I mean, its like 3 ft away max, through cloth, why would that matter? Is the BT radio on this phone really that bad? Anyone else having similar issues?
I remember this happening with my first phone but I thought it was my earpiece. I have upgraded my earpiece, still doing the same thing and has gotten worse lately. But the other thing is that I can walk pretty far away 30-40 feet before she disconnects, in my house around walls and such, so I don't get it.
-DJ
I'm having the same bluetooth sound issues as you DJ, except I don't hafta have the phone in my pocket. If I put the phone to my other ear I can hear the caller thru the headset & it stutters in the bluetooth.

I'll give Moto techs a try. Otherwise, its too difficult to replicate the problem at the Sprint Store. All they do is wipe the phone and hand it back to me which is not acceptable. Especially when i explain to them that i have tried this with no improvement.
Thanks guys for your input.
This used to happen with my EVO as well so I wasn't shocked when it happens with the photon from time to time. What happens is that the media connection gets lost while the headset is still connected to the phone audio. I use a Jawbone ICON and ERA and it happens with both. I listen through my headsets all day every day so I'm pretty used to it. Usually if I un-pair and re-pair the headset it solves it for a while. Just make sure the headset says its connected to both phone and media audio.Hopefully it will be corrected through an update soon. I'm sure they have a long list of stuff to repair...
I have the same BT audio disconnects as others while I was listening to stream music, very frustrasting, I had the phone swapped due to other issue, but this still happened very randomly. Infact, as the other poster said above, BT audio disconnects also happened to my previous HTC phones(Diamond, EVO 4G & EVO 3D)as well.
im having same issue with blue parrot headset
glad to know I aint the only one with this problem, hopefully a fix is in the works
I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and my Photon practically refuses to play my visual voicemails through it. When I attempt to play a voicemail, the scrub bar runs through it in like 1 second even though the voicemail may be 2 minutes long and no sound is heard through the BT. If I then disconnect and reconnect the BT, the message(s) will play properly for a short time. So most times, I either disconnect BT to play my messages through the speakerphone or earpiece or I dial into my voicemail with my BT. Overall, it is a frustrating situation. However, I guess things could be worse.
I have a similar issue with Bluetooth for HID devices (mouse / keyboard). I have the webtop hdmi hack in place. I haven't tested this with the latest ota yet.

Looks like I have same issue,if I am in my car and talking over car bluetooth build-in system it will disconnect after some time, need to toggle bluetooth button on phone screen to send it back. I never had this problem with Epic4g before. I am in battery safe mode is it possible that after awile phone think that it can shutdown bluetooth. I am rooted but using battery mode without ant 3rd party app. Also can someone post link to related Motorola tech forum described above gor Photon 4G?

I agree with this statement for sure.
After doing some searching, I found this thread.. I'm having the same issue with a photon I picked up acouple of weeks ago. I'm running stock root. Is there a fix for this, or is a custom rom a way to fix it?
Thanks
Hi, I am also having same problem, bluetooth disconnects automatically so no file transfer and also when i use wired headfone to listen songs and when i put fone in my pants pockets, it stops the music and give me blutooth option for voice commands

Hi I am hoping one of you can help or offer some advice. My EVO lte will not keep a pairing with my Parrot CK3100 car kit. It paired one time but will not pair again until I delete it and start over. I am in my car all day long and have never had this issue with previous phonesl Any thoughts? thanks in advance
I am having a similar problem with mine connecting to my car. It will connect and it will show it is connected but it won't route calls through the bluetooth until about a minute into the call. It also seems it will pop the connection in and out.
With my old evo it would connect almost immediately in the can and the bluetooth would ring before I even heard my phone ring.
For what it's worth:
I had problems maintaining a connection with my car (BMW 335i). It paired fine, just wouldn't keep a steady connection. I ended up deleting the pairing on both the car and the phone, re-paired but did not allow the car to share the contact list, as it asked to do during the pairing process.
The connection has been solid, however I'm at this point unable to send the contact list to the car.
I reported it to HTC CS, they are aware of it, and seemed to indicate they are going to have an update available at some point. I understand the One X variant also has some Bluetooth issues.
Something may definitely be up with this. I can't get my Evo to pair with anything! My desktop, laptop, tablet, Jaybird headphones or the Ford Sync in my Taurus. My EVO 3D & E4GT paired with no problems. I'm just glad to see that its not just my phone with the problem.

Same thing here. I have it connect to the bluetooth in my 12 Chevy Cruze (Just for my phone calls)and then to a bluetooth reciever i purchased to play my music.
When i connect the two of them my phone connection keeps dropping and then reconnects, causing my music to hiccup while disconnecting.
so right now i deleted my phone connection so i can play my music hiccup free.
When i had my HTC EVO 3D i had no problems connecting the both of them?
HTC please fix...............

FWIW i was having problems with my phone staying connected to my car (scion tC 2012, stock radio). I fixed it by putting the phone in pair mode, then having the radio search for bluetooths. The popup came up on the phone (vs having the phone connect to the radio) and its been SOLID ever since. ALMOST as good as my hp touchpad running webos... almost....
No problem here connecting to my Rosen navigation on my Honda pilot. No drop calls and music is clear

For the BMW owner, you might want to consider downloading and installing the update from BMW, if your car supports the update: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/na...ooth_software_update_vin.jsp?region=&country=

Thanks, I was aware BMW had the capability, however "This offer is available for selected vehicles manufactured after March 2010." and mine is a 2009 model.
Missed it by that much
As much as it makes perfectly good sense to me to purchase a new automobile so my cell phone will work with it, I'm not sure that line of thinking will find much acceptance with the Department of Finance and War (aka, my lovely wife)
Appreciate your interest in helping with my Bluetooth issue, though...
I'm unable to hold a conversation for longer than 30 seconds when making and receiving calls in my 06 325i. Sometimes there's a loud high pitched sound that goes off and the call connection still seems to be live, but I can no longer hear the other person, which forces me to hang up. At other times, the call quality is choppy, like I'm traveling through a tunnel every 2 seconds, and eventually the other party on the line, or myself, hangs up. I've never had this problem with any other phones (Palm Treo 755p, EVO 4G and EVO 3D).
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I think it might be specific to the BMW car model and year. Thanks

Confirmed! Turning off WiFi "fixes" the problem. This "phone" has a below average antenna, slow 3g speeds, and conflicting bluetooth/WiFi signals (all confirmed by numerous users). Sprint and HTC really need to come up with a solution to all these problems.
Here's a fun one: Just picked up my Evo LTE today.
I tried connecting it to my car stereo tonight.
The stereo sees the phone and pairs with it. Right after they pair i get "com.android.phone as stopped unexpectedly." on the phone and then bluetooth disconnects and my cell connection disconnect for a few seconds.
The stereo is a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X995
Since i've owned the stereo i have connected my OG Evo, an Evo Shift, Nexus S 4G and a Photon 4G all without any issues.
I'm gonna play with it a little more and see if i can get it to pair. So far it's the only issue i've come across.
Edit: My phone is stock / rooted
Edit 2: Was just out experimenting. The phone seems to crash when it syncs the contacts list to the stereo. If I hit "cancel" on the phone when it asks to sync it pairs just fine and the phone doesn't crash.
Also made a 7 minute phone call and it didn't disconnect on me.
My wife's EVO LTE would consistently disconnect from her Rav4's Bluetooth after a minute or two.
This is a deal-breaker. I tried to take the phone back a day after purchasing and the Sprint store mgr wouldn't waive the restocking fee. I explained systemic issue and merchantability laws but no dice.
Sorry for the mini rant but Sprint sucks.

I have Jaybird Freedom Sprint Bluetooth headsets that I use to workout with. I tried pairing with them on my Omate. It will pair but the sound still comes out of the speaker on the watch. Is there something I can do to fix that as the headset works great. Thanks for any help!
I have have a pair of Jaybirds, and mine did the same thing. What worked was the Omate ran out of juice and after recharging and Turing back on it has worked perfectly every since. You may also need to to set the Jaybirds as default for miix and phone calls under Bluetooth settings.

Where the heck are the bluetooth settings, not quite in your face if you know what I mean.
Yeah, so I don't see in the watch where those Bluetooth settings are to set the Jaybird up as default. Maybe you can help guide me to where that is. Not sure if it matters but it is stock. I also drained the battery but it didn't do anything. If you have a speific process maybe you could lay it out for me and see what happens. Thanks again for the help!
Go to settings. Then wireless and networks. Then Bluetooth. Select Jaybird make sure phone and media audio are selected.

Glad you got it to work. Not sure why you have to repair each time.

I have the earlier 1/8 US firmware. I use the Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 Bluetooth(Also sold as Plantronics under same model name and number) headset that I picked up from a garage sale today. Great Bluetooth stereo sound! I absolutely get no sound cuts when worn on my wrist(Which is 2ft away when arm extended) no matter how I move my arms. Have you tried disabling the quickboot feature in Settings >> System >> Accessibility? That feature is causing problems with wifi and bluetooth due to the firmware from what I've been told before.
Thx for your reply! :good:
I tried disabling the quickboot feature and also flashed Loki's EnSec-firmware, but the problem is still the same. :crying:
I have come to the conclusion that we can't always blame the truesmart with the bluetooth issues. I have a bluetooth audio receiver plugged into my hifi system but I can only stream to it in very close contact i.e. about 10cm maxiumum. However same setup on watch connected to my August EP60 headphones (which are amazing btw) yielded very different results. After connectin established I started music streaming and took off my watch and leaving it downstairs went for a walk round my house including upstairs. No loss of connection with several meters distance and no dropouts at all. Happy because I bought the August EP60's specifically to use with Truesmart.

Hi,
I'm listening to music from my TS through my bluetooth earphones right now... apart from the occasional split second stutter, I'm very impressed.... I can see how this would be a killer device for the gym or joggers etc, I'm so impressed im going to try and find a smaller pair than my backbeats!

What's about your WiFi connection... my maximum range is 3 to 5 meters away from the router (same room, no walls between).

So I've had my G5 less than a week now and really like the phone. But I'm starting to notice some Bluetooth issues. I have an unreasonable number of Bluetooth earpieces and headsets, and have started noticing problems with all of them with the new phone. From very poor sound quality to the connection being dropped while the phone is in my hand or my pocket. I've had the headsets a long time, the phone is the new variable in the equation. And I'm having some degree of trouble with all my headsets, which leads me to believe there's a phone issue. Anybody else experiencing anything like this? Not sure if it might be a defective phone, or if it's a G5 problem. Anybody?
I don't have any of those issues, sound quality shouldn't be the bluetooth issue.
The only issue I have is the range. covering the phone with a hand in a pocket might make the headphones stutter.
Some people are experiencing those types of issues if a factory reset doesn't solve it i suggest you get it exchanged for a new one i for one am not experiencing any of the launch issues

Perhaps "sound quality" was a poor choice of words on my part. I start getting a garbled 'sproingey' (sorry, don't know how to explain it better) condition, where I actually had to take it off Bluetooth, as I couldn't carry on a conversation. Never had any such problems with my G2 with same headsets, so this is all new. I hate to think I need to do a hard reset on a phone I've had less than a week to resolve such a problem. I hope being a relatively early adopter hasn't set me up for a pack of teething problems. So you say others have been experiencing similar problems?

That's what I like to call a good sign of a bad sign.
I have the problem, that sometimes/often the when the phone connects to my crar radio, it only connects as phone and is not able to stream music. When I disconnect and connect again, everythings fine.
Strange
The issue I'm having is with my Tracks AIR headphones. I have to unpair them and repair them every time I connect them. And usually every three or four days I have to reboot my Moto 360 to get it to reconnect to my G5. Did not have any of these problems on my s6e. It's a pain in the ass more than anything, not enough for me to take the phone back.
I have an ATT G5 from launch day... My jaybird ear buds work just fine and quality is good, and it pairs with my LG sound bar and woofer in my living room with no problems. My sons small Mossy oak BT speaker pairs and sounds just fine also.
Now beyond that I can't comment. I haven't used my ear buds on a call yet bc I don't like talking through them in general lol.

LG G5 Bluetooh Issues
My issues are likely the receiver, as my LG G5 will connect to my Nissan Versa Bluetooth (phone only) without issues.
I have a USB Bluetooth dongle with a 3.5mm jack to my Versa AUX jack. My LG G5 will always connect to the USB BT device automatically, just no audio at all. If I have music playing when I attempt to connect, the phone goes silent, but the audio does not get sent over to the BT receiver. So, I must go into Bluetooth settings, disconnect then reconnect that device. This happens every time, and the re-connect method always solves the audio issue.
PITA, but I'm going to purchase another receiver and see if that solves my issues.

Any difference with BT if wifi is on vs off ?
made me think of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/wifi-cuts-bluetooth-t3362158
I can't answer that, but it's a moot point now. I took the phone back and had them replace it. No problems so far with the new one, although it's not been thoroughly tested yet with all three of my BT headsets. But so far, so good.
Bluetooth is ok about connection here but not the sound (BOSE Soundlink Soundspeaker). Sometimes, the sound is like leveling up or such... hard to explain, it goes higher (not volume but the notes are higher) and it's very annoying. That's not the first phone who is doing that but my last phone (Xperia Z3 Compact) didn't have this issue at all.
I think I'm having the exact same issues as many here, LG G5 (LG-H3831, only diff I see is the Canadian has lot's of frequencies for LTE-A)
I have a 2008 Versa, Hands Free connects, every time I start the car.
I have a bluetooth dongle for my audio, it connects EVERY time, but I start the car, but no audio. I 'must' always go into Bluetooth settings, disconnect, and reconnect, and press PLAY immediately, else if I wait too long, audio Apps will 'play', just no sound, not on phone, not on Blue-tooth.
This is really irritating, as I have 3 different blue-tooth devices, and all three are the same. If I don't press play/get any audio going right away it'll it'll connect, but no audio until do the disconnect/re-connect. PITA
My issue is phone call volume is so low...

I have a problem with the BT phone audio momentarily being dropped while on a call with my car built in BT. I will lose the call audio and the radio (which shuts off during a call) will come back for 5 or 10 seconds. The call does not drop and the call audio comes back afterward.
I really like the G5. Yesterday was my last day with the Tmo "buyers remorse" so I am having them send me another one. I hate to switch it out because I have none of the build problems some are reporting- no light bleed, audio and audio jack are good, good alignment of phone body with module.
Anyone else have this issue?
