HTC Super Tool - HTC Rezound

Heard about this today. Currently doesn't support our phone, but someone gutys may want to try. Lol.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343114

It doesn't even support the incredible's. Not so sure it is very promising for us as we are in a different boat than all of those devices he listed.

HC update for US Flyer?

Dear Ryno,
Thank you for emailing HTC Technical Support regarding an update to the HTC Flyer.
The device should get a small maintenance release update very early in 2012 and Honeycomb sometime after that.
We apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause you, Ryno.
Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this.

Really? SMDH. At least I already decided that I will likely be going globatron's route.

For those of you still waiting, I just called HTC and was told this exact same thing, word for word. Clearly reading from a script. Too bad. If you "want" to root Globatrons guide and support in his thread is top notch. The decision is yours though, It's your device. HTC told us it was coming soon earlier this year, soon is obviously a relative term.

Too bad, I believe that HTC will try to make it without any problem, but it really takes very long long time. More than half year was passed. I really need the function which allowing pen works on sketchbook or quill. I think i should not wait for htc and try to root Globatrons guide ..., shouldn't I?

Not defending HTC but Samsung is not exactly stellar with software updates either.
The canned answers are infuriating but imagine the amount of calls that come in saying where is my update.

WHY~~
Purchasing a nexus, either the HTC one or thevsamsung versions give you thevupdates directly google. Samsung, or HTC in some cases have nothing to dovwith the updates.

Don't know but Globatron's theory is making a lot of sense now, carrier/operator pressure. There's no such pressure for the WiFi models, atleast none that I can think of other than customer service calls, emails, etc...
My question , other than to be pissed at HTC, does anyone care about this at this point? We already have the official release available to us through the forum. Even better we have the S-OFF rooted version. The developers have the source code too, what the heck do we need HTC to do this for? They won't be making it any better just to push it out to BB customers. You will get the same thing we already have, try it and then go to the rooted version anyway. So BFD ...

If referring to rooters, true, but is good info for non rooters... assuming you want the update and tab features, verses losing the display space.
I chose to keep GB, since prefer the display space.

Well unfortunately only Ipad users live in a perfect world. Any a few days Globaltron will have us a freshly minted US root version and then we can complain about something else.

[Q-View]Hulu hacked to look like you are using a flyer?

I see the new version of Hulu "supports" the flyer, but not the view. Seems stupid to me, but what do I know. Anyway, is it possible to "hack" it so it shows up as if it were a flyer? Or am I asking for too much?
Leave a review on the app so the dev can see and make the adjustments. Usually tends to work out
I have. Still haven't seen anything yet. I've even emailed them, but their tech support is useless. I'm getting a stream error now on my Rezound since the update and they just recommend things I've already done.

I played with the kitchens on winmo, but nothing ever worked properly for me, so I don't think I'll be trying that. I don't feel confident enough in my limited abilities to do that. Thanks though.
I wonder if it reads the build prop, and if I does if I could just change a few things to "read" like a flyer?

What does this mean for the DNA scene? Does it increase our chances at finding a post-OTA unlock method, or is it more useful for ROM/custom feature development purposes?

From what I gather it's possible, though not likely there is an exploit for post OTA unlock in the source. It will help development in that 2.04 ROMS such as Viper1.2 will soon have compatible custom kernels whenever the developers of their respective kernels update them.
I suppose there can be other possible benefits but I have not heard anyone mention them.

I guess she is used to stellar battery life, not having all the bloat, being over clocked and fast as all get out on Viper rom.
The area she works gets better signal with old radio's while I get better with new radio's??
No wife tether
Missing a few root only apps, missing data since she can't restore.
Look don't take offense. This phone is great, but when you get used to certain things is hard to go back.
That's all

Question about the forums

Can we use the HTC One section as well? Or are we limited to just the roms in the at&t forum? Thanks.

With an avatar like that, there are no limits:laugh:
For real though, it's all up to you and what you want to do. Roms from both will work, flash them at will and see what works best for you. There will be differences in some vs others, radio, firmware, etc..., but it's all good. S-off will give you unlimited opportunities. Happy endeavors.
One more thing. Are root manuals and other guides apply as well. Such as rooting and s off? It's kinda confusing to me. Thanks for the reply.

Unlock is done via www.htcdev.com, and S-Off is done via RR. Just make SURE you use the right version of RumRunner. It MUST match, or you will get into trouble quick. Now, here is the interesting part. You must be unlocked to use Rumrunner, but once you S-Off, you will be locked again. To do certain things you will need to re-run the unlock.bin, and re-unlock. Not a big deal, but just to let you know.

Someone got their hands on the M8

Review is not the best, but al least we can the see the next big thing.

Well, not what I was hoping for. But, they say that about the G5.
All I know is that Sammy makes it hard as frick to root their phones, so I'll most likely stay with HTC.
^^^^^ while I agree with sticking with HTC, what, on earth, gives you the impression it's hard to get root on Sammy devices. My experience with GNex, and all I've read, shows sammys are the easiest to root.

Bro....
My brother has the GS4 through Verizon, and there are like 6 different versions.
Rooting wasn't the issue, as I rooted it for him easily. The issue was "bootstrap", "Safestrap", "modems", and other terminology.
Not what I'm used to. He's rooted, but you cannot flash AOSP ROM'S with their locked bootloaders. You can only flash stock ROMS, and you have to use "Safestrap", which apparently makes multiple partitions and you have to keep your original stock ROM.
And then there is Loki, and Odin, whatever the hell those are. I'm guessing for unlocked bootloaders, but I haven't got that far yet.
Friend of mine from work blames Verizon, saying they try to seriously lock down their phones.

I don't know about Samsung devices (on Sprint) but I know rooting my HTC wasn't too bad, but flashing it was a different story.
I'm not sure how much Truth is in that whole story. I mean, who can be THAT foolish? If it was me, I would make sure hat my kids don't even talk about it at school. Shoot...I might not even tell them.
Furthermore, whether this is true or not, this still provides HTC with premature feedback from users who want to see what the M8 will look like. While it is too late for them to make physical changes to the phone, at least they can try to make a few software changes to the phone. For example, I'm sure that someone is going to criticize the camera app. Based on the general consensus, they can make the needed modifications. This video has brought much attention to HTC, whether negative or positive, and there's nothing that good ol' Sammy can do about it.
Did I mention that this is FREE advertising? That's something that HTC never did very well with, and funding has a lot to do with it. I'm not saying that this story can't be true, but I certainly feel that there are more factors at play under the hood.
And to add to those who have said that Samsung is difficult to root, I beg to differ. Once I downloaded the correct files to the computer, it took me 2mins to root my wife's GS3 with an auto root tool. I had to do a lot more work to root my EVO. Mind you, I'm not saying that my EVO was difficult to rllt, but i also had to obtain S-Off in a separate process. You just have to root a Samsung and you're good to go.
