Hello all!
Yesterday i managed to root and unlock my Samsung galaxy ace thanks to the help of this forum. I am a total noob at this but some how i managed to do it without any trouble everything works fine.
But now i want to upgrade to the new version of Android 2.3.4
Since my phone is now 2.3.3 i want the benefits of the new upgrade.
I am from Croatia and i am using the T-mobile network this phone was bought in Germay.
Model GT-S5830
Android version 2.3.3
Baseband version S5830XWKP7
Build : Gingerbred.XWKPT
Kernal Version [email protected]#1
My question is can i use the Kies program and just regulary update or will i lose the Unlock? And if yes what must i do that i have the newest version and keep the sim unlock.
Thank you very mutch in advanced !
You must unroot first. Next you can upgrade your rom and root them

is there a quick tut for the same example that i have? i searched the forum but no luck finding something similar. i am a total noob at this sorry
i have unrooted it but when i go to kies and check for updates it only updates my firmware but not my android version. Any advice?
untrooted it with SuperOnceClick and superuser is gone.
it is advisable to upgrade via Odin
see these threads : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225493
it will help you much
Thank you very much ! I just rooted it and upgraded it to 2.3.4.
Only one question now. How do i remove the russian aps?
Root your Ace, download stock app remover ( domt really care if you bought it from market or priate it ) allow root permissions. Happy uninstalling. However do not uninstall apk files that are vital

Dude to upgrade Fw u don't need to unroot or root. if you have unlocked your phone then u must have your imei number backed up
Ok first backup your current rom using cwm then flash. New
Fw via Odin.you can download latest Fw from samfirmmware.com ......

android version: 2.3.3
base band version: i9100XXKF1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-i9100XWKF3-

Build number: Gingerbread.XWKF3
NB: Am new on Android device.
NB: is it possible to get the original rom by unrooting my sgs 2 by doomlord unrooting toolkit ?
Learn how to use Odin
get ROM from checkfus downloader or sammobile.com
Pick lp7 ROM skip lp9.
You can flash any ROM if you got i9100, say UK lp7.
Flash using Odin.

Doesn't matter were you are...
Get a whole package and flash.
Lp7 UK ics
Dxlp9 Singapore ics
Both stock roms work fine. Personally I say go for lp7 UK.
After that learn how to use cfroot kernel to get root access.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Thanks for that.
Can you give me that link for lp7.
I salute you.

Hello everybody,
my gt-i9100 will receive (short-run hopefully) the update to jelly bean but i have a couple of questions to avoid trouble.
At this time i have ics 4.0.3 official with root and modified recovery (not CWM). I have some root apps installed as "system app" like Android Lost, xposed framework and xposed tweakbox. I know the update will erase all my data (full update not value pack) but there will be problems installing this update with these root apps pre isntalled?
Thanks to all :cyclops:
It should cause any problems as the rom will erase all user apps and root.
What method are you planning to use to upgrade.
Kies or doing yourself through Odin.
As a precaution you could do a factoery reset before connecting to kies or flashing with odin. That way there will be no problems with stray aps.
i think i will use kies.
so i will not have issues having a custom recovery?
after upadte i must root again the device, right? if yes wich root use?

If I remember correctly, a few months ago there was a small update, it goes well but I had to root again the device, so how should I proceed to upgrade now?

Hi,
i have recently noticed the new jellybean leak and im interested in rooting my s2 which is the Vodafone Kernel 3.0.15-1056085 - Build number imm76d.bulpg. I can find numerous tutorials how to root ones with a different build number. But i cannot find anything on the BULPG 4.0.4 build.
Wil the steps for the 4.0.3 work?
Thank you
You don't need to root if you're flashing the JB leaked update.
You just need to know how to comprehend the English language, learn how to use the search feature or read the S2 forums and have a big enough set of balls to flash it using Odin.

Briliant,
So the I9300XXLSJ Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Test firmware for the Galaxy S II. I9100XXLSJ will work OK although my build number is different?
I have not done any rooting for a few years since my HTC Hero so ive lost track of all the roms and releases.
Thank you. :good:
If you do want to root then download Siyah kernel (TAR not CWM) and flash the TAR file using Odin. Then the world is your Chinese knock off pearl factory.

There are so many guides for upgrading it's impossible you've missed them. Search here on xda (or on google) and learn how to do it. No need for asking in a new thread because the answers are already out here.

Why you don't update to 4.3? I has been reading the forum and i think that it's better to the phone be updated.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
Go read the sticky thread in general forum, you are missing most basic knowledge.
As above, updating to latest stock rom is recommended. 4.0 will kill the phone memory.
Don't ask for rom recommendation.
