Hey guys,
I am having problems with the Neutrino rom. I have just updated to 1.4-S and tried to restore just my data from a backup I made in RomRacer's Recovery. Everytime I try this and reboot into the system I lose the Android keyboard and The keyboard I do have, Thumb Keyboard 4 crashes. Also, I cannot open the Market to try and reinstall the app, but if I wipe data the market works fine but still no keyboard. Is there anyway for me to fix this.
Use titanium backup? Works every time for me. Wiping is the best way if you want to use the "updates" aka the S release.
I don't use romracer anymore so I can't test your issue.
Go back to 1.4 until he fixes the wp7 keyboard

I tried Neutrino...really liked it but I don't have any of my current apps when I try to restore with TB. For some reason it shows stuff like 4-5mo ago.

Go to cyanogen mod settings check off "Use internal storage" then restart your phone. The backups should be there then.
I'll try that thanks

for the second time in the last two months, I have begun not receiving texts or calls on my HTC Droid Eris running KaosFroyo v38. I hesitated and eventually decided against posting it there because I can't be sure it's anything in his ROM causing the issue (I may have been running Tazz's Froyo w/ Sense ROM the first time it happened).
I can send texts fine, and people are receiving them, but when they reply, I get absolutely nothing. I can make calls fine as well. When someone tries to call me, their phone says their call cannot be completed (this has only been tested with one phone).
This is becoming quite debilitating because I don't even know when people are trying to contact me, so any help would be appreciated.
NOTE: I have already tried activating the phone through Verizon. Hasn't helped.
I had a similar problem I wasn't receiving text messages. I ended up having to use the flashback21 rom. Everything is fine now.
what does that ROM do?

Any 2.1 sense based rom should fix your problem. You can make a nand of your current setup, flash any 2.1 rom you want boot it check text or phone call and then restore your nand backup for froyo. This should solve the problem but doesn't actually fix why it happened in the first place. How did you get them to start working again the first time? Most people that I've seen with this problem did this "reset" and I hadn't heard of the problem reoccurring but I wouldn't consider it a permanent fix. I personally have no idea what could be happening...not sure if Verizon is not seeing the phone as active since it doesn't have official software or what but I'm pretty sure it's something happening on their end and would have no idea of a way to prevent it unfortunately.
Edit: And you are correct it's not really a KaosFroyo issue as much as just a Froyo issue.
I'll use this opportunity to ask this: how does the NAND backup work (I think I've seen it in the recovery menu, but never used it), and also: whats the best way to backup/restore my apps and settings?

If you boot to recovery and you will see the nand option then you can choose nand backup....it will backup everything on the phone in it's current state including apps, settings, text messages and all. When you are ready to restore it you go back into recovery and back to nand and choose restore. You will only have one if this is your first time doing it but it will say BDS-XXXXXXXX where the x's are numbers that represent the date and time you made the backup(note the number of x's i put there is not the exact amount there will be). Anyway you choose that backup and it will ask if you want to restore it simalar to how it asks when you go to flash a rom. Its really a very simple process and very handy to have a backup. You can make as many backups as you can fit on your card. You can also copy the backups off the card to your pc if you want too.
wow. no more "app backup" apps from the Market for me! thanks for being so quick and helpful! Luckily, attempting to make a call just a second ago caused the phone to crash and reboot, which apparently fixed the problem (I got a boatload of texts as soon as the phone rebooted). Weird.

lol yeah rebooting the phone is always the first thing to try....nand does not replace backup apps though. It only backs them up for that current rom. When you restore a nand it restores the rom that was on the phone when you made the nand so you can't use it to back up info going from one rom to another or upgrading to a newer version of the rom because the nand will just reinstall the old rom.

You can use Titanium Backup, which is extremely popular. There's a free version on the market but I think the free version only does one app at a time. There's also My Backup Pro. Also here on xda you can find QtADB, which, while the phone is connected to the computer, you can use to backup and restore apps and their data. I actually like this way best so far. The backup files are still on your SD card, you just control the backup and restore from the computer.
It sounds like it may be stuck in EVDO only. If your ROM has EPST maybe you can change it.

Yes, exactly. There are other ways, but that's the simplest. You're welcome!
I am new to these forms and was wondering if there was a good walk-through/guide for changing your phone data over when you are upgrading to a newer version of the same rom.
Thanks to your forms already I have no problem switching roms but I do have a few favorites I would like to keep updated without starting fresh. Pointing me in the right direction or any advice would be much appreciated!

Don't know what you mean by the "Recovery Mod".
I use the method I outline in my post here; about the middle of my post, in response to PieceKeepr, starting with my third paragraph to him.
"TB" in my post is "Titanium Backup" on the Android Market.
Ya what I ment by "Recovery Mod" was the Rom Manager ClockworkMod. Will check out your post, thanks for the advice.

I'm still not sure what ClockworkMod has to do with merging data, but as long as you know what you mean, that's what's important! Maybe you meant you did a no wipe (Dalvik wipe only) update? Sorry I'm having trouble understanding.
Not quite what I ment but probably the same result. What I did was Backup the whole current system (nand) currently running GSB 2.1 then did a system/data/dalvic wipe and installed the new GSB 2.4 CM7 booted it up with gapps etc. Made sure it was working. Then rebooted and went into recovery and restored just the user data.

Also thanks again for the advice on Titanium Backup it works good and I really like their use of just being able to restore data. I was looking for just an app, however because I am a Designer by trait I only overlooked their program because I didn't like the icon... silly me.

You're welcome. For a long time I swore by My Backup but once Titanium Backup was updated for Gingerbread it actually works better for me than it ever did all the other times I tried it before. Especially with the option in TB's preferences to restore apps to the locations that it backed them up from, since I use Apps2SD to move a lot of my apps to the SD card, so that's just one more thing I don't have to do.

I do like the data restore better on TB and of course MyBackup I did use before but it didn't have the options I was trying to find. Anyways what I did was make a complete system backup using ClockworkMod Recovery, then like I said installed the new version. Booted back to recovery and from the menu:
- backup and restore > - Advanced Restore >
Then I choose my backup "date bla bla"
- Restore data
Thats about it, hope that helps ~ let me know what you think.
I'm lazy, I just overlay my roms each time. I think I've been doing it this round since about GSB 1.6 or 1.7 when I had to do a full wipe because something got glitchy.
Previously when I was on KF, I went quite a while with flashovers.

Ya, it seems to work pretty good, haven't found much wrong with it I do the same as you for the new versions.
1. Make a backup
2. Wipe
3. Install new version
4. Install gapps
5. Boot it
6. Reboot into recovery do the cache2cache
7. Restore data...

Did you flash it from froyou to remix or did you have beta prior to 2.1? I had the same problem when I went form the beta to 2.1 and did a full titanium backup, which I was told can cause all sorts of issues when loading an entirely new Rom. So if you did a titanium back up, go back and reflash and do just a restore of apps and data but no system data. I did this and it worked fine.
Yup. Restored system from Titanium Backup. I will reflash.

I had the exact same problem, and reflashing did the trick. I'm convinced my original FC problems were because of my restoration of EVERYTHING with titanium. after my 3rd reflash, i just restored the apps i needed....and data on the apps that automatically installed through the market
google services framework crashing
When you refer to reflashing are you referring to the process of full wiping and reinstalling the 2.1 remix Rom. or reflashing the MR2 radio from hboot? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I have reloaded the ROM three times and am still getting this google services issue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Just reflashing the ROM.
I did that and it still errors
I flashed the ROM without touching Titanium Backup and everything is working perfect now. No force closes. Titanium Backup was the problem. I won't be using it again.
no you can use it. say for instance if you flashed bamf gingerRemix and did a titanium backup of all user apps and system data. after installing you do just the missing apps and data.
NOW, say you flashed bamf standard just to check it out and see the difference..now you can run a full apps and system restore.
Its when you go from froyo to GB or if you had a completely different rom like LiquidRom and flashed Bamf. you wouldn't want to do a full restore. But if you went from Remix to just standard OR bamf remix 1.7 to bamf remix 1.8 you could still do a full restore.

its not a matter of selective, its knowing when you can use a full restore and when it will mess things up.

Download the app called 'AppSaver' from the market. It backs up the .apk files of all the apps on your phone and stores them on the SD card. So whatever you do with the phone, the .apks are always there on the SD card and you can install all the apps again, without downloading them from the market.
P.S. the app takes backup of only the .apk and not the data. Eg: If you back up Angry birds, it just backs up the .apk and the levels/scores you achieved would not be backed up.

OK well first relax. Issues like this are common when flashing custom roms. Your best bet is to do a full wipe and then reflash the rom. Also don't restore any system data at all as this can cause issues. Only user apps and data

Hi, I know this problem. When you flash a new rom and afterwards apps were installed with a backup tool (e. g. titanium bu) and not with google market directly this error can occur.
When there is one app which was removed from market the error in your screenshot is shown. In my case it was the old version of "cut the rope". To solve this problem it is necessary to remove this link to the market or deinstallation of this app.
As long as there is a mismatch in the app-market-assignment it is also possible that you get the message that apps were not bought.
It is possible to un-link apps using the "rom toolbox pro". As far as I know it is not possible with the free edition.
I would make a nan backup and try to uninstall all apps directly in the market (on your PC not on your cell phone). Afterwards it should be possible to use the market on your cellphone. When something fails you can restore your backup.
Update: when you know which app is the source for your error --> use ur backup again and uninstall just the known erroneous app.
Its a lot of work
