I tried to apply the software update and now I'm stuck. Reboots to a white screen "Software update Loading" and never goes past that.
I'm rooted, but no custom roms (only rooted for Titanium)
I rooted at my office (W7) but now I'm home for the week on my Mac.
Any suggestions?
Tried this:
1. Turn off the phone by holding the power button until off
2. Hold the Power Button and Volume Up AND Down buttons until the recovery screen pops up
3. Press volume down to select the Wipe Cache Partition selection and then press the power button to select
4. Reboot the device
When I select any option there I just get a logo that looks like a hat with a circle around it and nothing happens.
You may need Odin to reflash your phone.
I was reading that if your rooted it won't work... your going to have to root to stock

Try wiping the data in recovery. If your on stock kernel.

Are you pressing the home button when you make a selection? Pressing the power button doesn't work for newer versions of cwm. Make sure you press home button when selecting

Hello, according to Sprint customer service, my Photon apparently came shipped associated with my Sprint Airrave. It will not activate now. The Sprint rep says that we need to do a hard reset, however, we can't do it without getting past the initial activation screen, and I can't get past that screen because it is associated with the airrave. A vicious circle.
Does anyone know how to do a hard reset without being in the phone software. Is there a combination of buttons to press?
I'd love to get this phone activated tonight as it will be an inconvenience to try to get to a sprint store.
Thanks!
Dan

Perform a factory reset using external keys
Note: It is highly recommended you use the above factory reset using the settings. Making a mistake using the factory reset using external key method could have very bad consequences.
If you are unable to navigate through the menu to perform a factory data reset, you can follow the steps outlined below:
Power off the phone, press and hold volume down button, press power button
Screen will come up with "Fastboot", press Vol down key to cycle through choices until you get "Android Recovery", then press Vol up key
Wait for the "triangle ! / Android" screen then go on to step 4
Press both Vol up and Vol down key simultaneously. A menu will come up
Tap on Vol down key until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted, and tap Power key. Another Confirmation screen will come. Tap on Vol down key until coming to Yes and tap Power key
After userdata is cleared, the "reboot system now" option will be highlighted by Default. Tap Power key
Phone will reboot to initial setup screen.
Power down
Hold volume down and power until you see fastboot
Press volume down until you see Android Recovery
Press volume up
When the triangle pops up hold volume down and press power(took me about a minute of pressing for a response)
A menu will pop up, scroll down with volume to factory reset and push the power button
Reboot and you should be good to go

Thank you for your response!
I got as far as the triangle, but no further. I've tried twice, but will keep trying. Let me know if you have other ideas.
Thanks!
Dan
Just to confirm, at the triangle I hold volume down and press power.
Does this mean press and hold power or press the power button repeatedly? I've tried both for more than a minute (maybe more than two). Perhaps I'll try for longer.
UPDATE:
I seem to have gotten it to work by pressing both the up and down volume buttons at the same time from the screen with the triangle.
Thanks for your help!

I downloaded a theme from one of the threads on this forum because I liked it. So read online that the way you install themes is that you put them in your sd card, boot into cwm, and install the zip from the sd card. When I get into the cwm menu, I press the power button to select the 'instal zip from sd card' option but nothing works. Any help?
press the HOME button... the buttons are all mapped differently in CWM
I have the ATT one though.. I dont have a home button. or at least a physical one.

This confused me at first as well. The power button is actually the back button, the home/house touch button is the select button.

Ok, so I've read about how you don't get the ICS quick change/recently used apps button on the new SIii.
Questions 1 is there a way to remap the Menu button so that is does the quick change feature?
2 is there a way to then, the double tap home button feature to get GOOGLE Voice Search/Actions?
3 is there a way that I can add on screen ICS buttons like on the Galaxy Nexus? And then make the hardware home button do something else?
Do I need apps? Rooting?
Thanks!
You need to root. You can turn on software keys with the AOKP rom but you cannot disable the hard keys.

i would rather have the task manager open when you hold and press on the back button. the menu button when u hold give u the google search, but on the back button when u hold nothing happens. it would be only logical to apply the task manager to this button when pressed down and held for a a few seconds
Hey I have heard that NOVA launcher pro allows you to customize some of the these short cuts on the phone.

Aw yeah.
I do not have the phone yet, but I believe holding the home button will bring up the recent apps. This is how it's been for previous android versions before they made a dedicated button for the galnex
that's how it works for my Dinc, on gingerbread and ics

1. open /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl
2. add # to the beginning of the line of the key you want to disable

is there a way to stop the home button from waking the device also? (so only the power button wake the device up)
I wonder if you guys can enlighten me. My goal is to have the Home key under the screen function as the power button, and have the normal power button (on the right side of the phone) function as Home (without waking the device). I want this because I'm always unintentionally hitting the power button when I pick up the phone.
I was able to get the Home button to function as power by changing key 116 to 172 in sec_powerkey.kl. However, now the normal power button doesn't do anything. I tried swapping POWER with HOME in sec_keys.kl, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Any tips on how to give my power button a function now?

Hello. Recently my Galaxy s2 power button hasn't been working. As in when I either hold it down or press it, it doesn't lock the screne or pull the power menu. It works now and then but yeah I have to press it over and over again.I plan on getting it repaired soon but I'm looking for an workaround. I've seen apps that let me turn my phone off, lock it and such but nothing brings open the power menu button with screenshot, recovery mode, airplane mode and such. Is there anything like that out there? That with a press of the button it would open up my power menu options
try rom manager

Use "Button Savior" from Play Store.
It is just HW buttons on screen including power button. (Like Nexus On-Screen Keys)
And it has long press power menu also, which shows Screenshot, Airplane, Silent etc.
P.S.
[Free advice]
If you get that button repaired, use something like Proximity Sensor based app which locks and unlocks phone screen. So power button will be used less.
(I know this consumes a bit more battery, but still battery is lot cheap and easy to change than power button)

Press Thanks if helped.
