Curious as to why this never popped up on nowinstock.com. hmmmm. I wouldn't have ordered anywayz cause I got a bunch of BB giftcards for Christmas but still kind of odd to me. Also, sorry about my first post OP you posted the link after I opened the thread so it didn't update until after I posted about the link.
Seeing this got me excited that they might have the actual tablet in stock so I called to check and they are the same as everywhere else, back ordered and won't be getting any in for new orders until the end of January.
Yes they are sold out, and when I called I was told the eta of the next shipment is late Jan

CDW.ca says 3 to 6 business days, so I paced an order. Then again, they say that for the actual prime, so we'll see.

First-world problems
Interesting... I put my order in at CDW for a "Champagne Gold" (looks aluminum-colored, aka silvery white-grey, to me) 32GB Transformer Prime and dock on 12/2, and was initially told by my account manager that the tablet was backordered until Feb. 1st, and the dock was backordered until Jan. 3rd. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the tablet last Friday, but the dock is now listed as backordered until Jan. 25th.
Gah, just as I was typing this, one of the accountants stopped by with a an asset tag (a sticker that has to be placed on all company property valued at over $100) that I had to put on the back of my tablet. The concentric brushed metal pattern is ruined! Oh Transformer, what man would want you now?!?
I made an offer, but he will probably say no cause I am not paying $300 for a $150 dock lol
Why don't you guys just pre-order from Gamestop.com, that's what I did.
I wouldn't dare waste time on ebay when dealing something as precious as this.
old used video game sure, but brand new tablet accessory that's a hot seller. Ebay is too risky.

I offered $185, seemed reasonable to me, but I got declined lol.
I just got my dock from newegg today. totally worth it. I can actually be quick and productive on this thing now.
I do agree with engadget's complaint about how the trackpad doesn't "shut off" while typing. Seems like it'd be an easy firmware fix though. Was that ever "fixed" with the first Transformer?

Okay. So I can finally preorder. I need some advice on where to buy from. Should I pay the extra $40 at Gamestop because the TFP/Gamepad bundle still says 12/9? Or do I go with TigerDirect or B&H even though I think they have sold out of their initial stock and are just still taking preorders unlike Amazon and Newegg. I am in Texas if that helps you guys form some advice. Will Gamestop charge me tax? Who am I most likely to get it on the release date from? Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Well you can always opt for the 64GB model. Not sure about where you're from, but here in Canada BB hasn't even put those up for pre-order yet! 32GB seem to be out of stock though. As soon as the 64GB is up for grabs I'm jumping on it.
I'm getting the feeling that once again Asus has undermanufactured their tablet and it will take them months to catch up with demand. We might be lucky to get one by the end of January.
I think I'm ordering the gamepad/tablet combo from Gamestop in hopes that the Dec 9th date is still good for the bundle. I hope its the amethyst gray version. Wish me luck.

Adorama just started taking preorders the other day, but they werent one of the original preorder sites. So i dont know if they will be shipping out the same day or not as the rest. If you don't get your gamestop orders by today, or the latest 23 then cancel it. No point in paying TAX for it when amazon has no tax. Unless you live in california I suppose.

I re-pre-ordered from amazon last night I just did it quick and did not really pick a shipping. I just changed my shipping to 1 day shipping and it gave me free 1 day shipping so everyone who as not selected 1 day shipping may want to give it a shot could be totally free.

Hard to get more, when you hadn't gotten any 32gb gray yet. Those are the ones that were canceled, and now allowed to re-pre-order.
They are admitting to screwing up: "We wanted to let you know your order for Transformer TF201-B1-GR (10.1-Inch Screen) Tablet was inadvertently canceled by our system. We're very sorry about this. "
Bring me the head of the one who inadvertently canceled our orders, yea verily.
Btw, check your original order number (from Nov 22/23), and you'll notice that it's the same order number from this morning - if you re-re-re-pre-ordered...

ASUS isn't silent at all. Here's what they said to Engadget:
ASUS started filling the inventory pipelines this past week for our new Eee Pad Transformer Prime and will continue to do so on an expedited basis for the foreseeable future. We will reach normal inventory levels in January for the North American market based on current orders and forecasts. I really think Asus is doing some quiet back tracking and recalling a lot of these tablets that was sent to US.
This would explain why the local Best Buy's in my area were quite confident that they're shipment was going to be here by the 19th and soon changed their tune to that they didn't know how soon they would get them and that they were suppose to get them earlier but Asus pulled their shipment and they've pulled their new shipment.
I really think that story from Canada about the faulty Primes were true and Asus is being super hush about it with in regards to the US.
This is why there have been so few sold here following the launch.

I assume they figure early adopters wouldn't give a crap. Which they rarely do. I'm just glad we're going to get a next rev tablet. Maybe we'll see an improvement. Maybe they'll carve a hole out of that aluminum slab to fit a proper antenna.

OK guys, amazon messed us up big time. So what I suggest we all do is, wait for them to credit us the 10 dollar they promised and then cancel any orders you have with them and go to another place.
I mean I got my prime from gamestop last night, but still have 2 on preorder from amazon. They got the nerve to send us an email and say we can preorder again and we waited til midnight to do it, and we got the same date as people ordering much later. That's so not right. You'd think they would have it sooner. So by friday you all should be getting the 10 dollar amazon promised. If not call them and as soon as you get it. Drop the preorder.

WoW, if they don't tell you early they are not informing you and if they wait till the last minute they aren't being honest.
Curious to know, were you planning on buying 2 preorders from Amazon or were you going to cancel one or both so they would have to change their inventory allotment again for distribution of preorders? (hint about wherein lies at least part of the problem)

Ok, interesting response. Did Amazon cancel your preorder? Also you addressed my second statement but not my first. This is curiousity only on my part. I originally posted because of what BB just anounced this evening and I was thinking about it in comparison to Amazon letting people know earlier than 3 days before Christmas. To answer your question I don't see how they perpetuated a problem. Which problem are you refering to?

To answer your number 2 question. I order 2, but intend on only keeping one, whichever was available first. At that point I also rushed to preorder at other sites because I had only originaly ordered one from amazon. Seeing as how amazon canceled my order and seeing how there is delays everywhere, I decited to order from several different places hoping that I would get one of them. You see, if Amazon would keep my ONE order, I would not have to run all over the place ordering everywhere else, including reordering 2 from amazon hoping to get one. It turns out that I did get one from gamestop, which now will force me to cancel both amazon orders. You think I like buying from gamestop? I hate them, and I also hate paing taxes. I could have saved by buying from amazon, which I want to, but they have failed me and they failed again on the second preorder sending me back to the end of the line.

It's listed as the ASUS® Eee Pad Transformer TF201 Tablet, 32GB Item # 906853, which IS the Prime.
At other times, when it was OOS, the Office Depot site kept suggesting the TF101 and kept trying to put it into your cart as a substitute. So stay alert during checkout.

I actually have a pre-order with them from 12/22 which had estimated delivery for 12/27. I have yet to receive it.
I e-mailed them and the response I got today was:

I figure I will get a second Prime (i already have one) to see if it has any defects (hopefully not). And plan to sell whichever one has the worst defects.
(current one has dust under screen, screen bleed and broken wifi, laggy performance but it may just be a software problem.)

Located in east coast. Thats why mine is going to take a week longer to ship to my nearest warehouse.

That is a hard decision to make. I had one on pro-order from GS that is supposed to be delivered on 01/11 which is only about 11 days differentce from the one I should be getting this Friday, so chances are they are from the same lot and my chances of getting a lemo are probably 50/50 from either shipment.
But I think you might have a more valid point, if they are fixing the issues the are coming up, the later you order/get it, the better your chances of getting a unit with little to no issues.
Let me ask you something, when you are thinking about "sticking" a woman, do you go to the forums and ask them if you should. Decision is entirely yours. Never let someone's opinion influence what you buy. You would be angry if it doesn't work for you and even angrier for listening to someone when you knew better. Just know that there is a manufacturer's warranty and if you can live with the wait for repairs, then that's a start.

Well, the first batch of TF101 tablets had really bad screen bleed and build quality... I just bought one (TF101) last month and it was just as bad, horrible screen bleed and backing loose and falling off (and last month i ordered two and both had these same defects that the very first batch had).
One was from bestbuy and the other was from amazon. Asus isnt too good at working out the defects, so I would say yes no matter when you get your prime, it will have some sort of defect.
Just have to hope for a minor defect, or one that you could live with.

My main question was whether people knew if ASUS would be actively fixing these issues for their later batches, so I should have just asked that. My other questions were just thought streams that I didn't analyze before typing.
Ordered mine on 12/28, did a live chat today and this is what i was told
Irving: Thank you for your patience. I checked you order, it will most likely ship on January 3, 2012.
Michael: will that be overnight shipping?
Irving: It would be regular shipping, the estimate delivery date of your order is Thursday, January 5, 2012 between 08:30 AM - 05:00 PM.

I thought Newegg was a big Asus dealer? Way it sounds, I am assuming not.
I have been told that they were receiving shipments on December 27 for pre-orders. Then it was pushed to today. Now I am being told that within the next two business weeks, they will be receiving confirmation of when they will receive more.
I guess on the bright side, no one else is getting them either, but doesn't sound like NE got that many to begin with.
Today mine got to the office depot warehouse after ordering on the 20th. 1/5 delivery date. I had been checking up on new egg as well and they never have any updates.

According to them for circumstances beyond their control, they never got them. They will know within 2 weeks when they supposed to get more.
The only reason I am sticking with Newegg is I have a $300 and some change credit.
I might the bullet and pre-order somewhere else and play the waiting game

Preordered the Prime on 12/07, 32G Grey.
Was first told Dec 27, they would have some to ship for preorders. Was then told January 3.
I called them today and was told that they will have confirmation of receiving more within next two weeks.
Hung up the phone and went to Newegg less than 5 minutes after my call and low and behold the 32G grey and champagne was in stock ready to order. And they had a limited offer of a free Asus Carrying case as well.
Ordered and have been charged and is currently in packaging status.
I am pissed because the preorder people have been hung out to dry. Should not be able to just go to site and order if preorders have not been fulfilled.
Did anyone else get a free carrying case as well? My order doesn't show it, but it was there and I will raise hell if I don't get it after what we have been through.
