Hey xda forums, I have the Xperia x10 mini pro (My first smartphone) and am interested in modding it to make it the best it can be, although i'm finding it difficult to find both the order to do things in and what the best current mods are as of right now. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could just send some links my way in the order which I should do them to get my phone with the best current mods, i'd be massively greatful!
Specifications -
Model number - U20i
Frimware Version - 2.1-update1
Baseband version- M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel Version-2.5.29
[email protected] #1
Build number 2.1.1.A.0.6
Thanks in advance!
I am using this forum app, so it's hard to post links, but there is a sticky post in Themes and Apps section that have some guides. It don't have all of them, so browse in 6 or 7 pages on that section that are the most news themes. When you get more knowledge, you can flash a custom ROM based on CM7, that allow a lot more in depth themes and mods. When I have more time (actually, when I won't be lazy) and are on one PC, I TRY to explain more.
Don't worry, I bought this on April 2011 and that was my first smartphone too, I was the biggest noob in the area.

Hello, i'm a newbie when it comes to rooting..i guess it's because i don't want to destroy my phone (just yet), and even i can see a rooted phone would give me a lot of extra's prog's to play around with, plus gaining processor-speed? and extra battery-life? would come in handy, i want to be absolutely certain to do things the right way, the right steps, the right flash-process and the right roms.
As i said i followed the great news of the sonyericsson xperia x10i being rooted and i read the forums of how to achief this but along the way i get confused by different roms, slightly different processes and i would very please like someone to enlighten me with THE proper knowledge.
I have:
Modelnumber: X10i
Firmwareversion: 1.6
Smallbandversion: 1.1.31
Kernelversion: 2.6.29-rel semc-android AT SEMC#2 (whatever that is)
Buildnumber: R2BA026
Please try to be as simple and accurate as you can
Thank you
just download "Universal Androot"
Then INSTALL it
And click ROOT
OK~
root xperia x10
Thanks for your quick reply and indeed androot did the job.
Now i am trying to find custom-settings for my x10 for setcpu to put them into a txt file so setcpu can read the supported kernels, do you know them or where i can find them?
Universal Androot
Hi,

Not sure if I have this in the correct section, sorry if i dont and please move to correct if not.
i am running a rooted with locked bootloader verizon r800x Xperia play with a 0.88 build number. My question is can i get on the 0.42/0.56/.62 builds. Ive notice that almost everything is built around those numbers and with having a 0.88 build I'm not sure if i can flash any of the roms or mods and i dont wanna brick my phone. i found a generic 800i ftf file for 0.42 build, I'm just not sure if i can use flashtools and run it on my phone and have it work. can anyone help and point me in the right direction on if i can change that build number so i can play with my phone. if i cant use that file is there one out there that i can use and could anyone post link with what i need. thank you to all answers in advance. I have rooted my share of phones, but with every new phone comes with new experiences and questions.
Firstly, this definitely should go into Q&A. On topic, and pardon the pun, there's a topic about this in the general section, but can't exactly remember which... just browse through the forums and try to find it. It's something that goes like "R800x service attempt".

r800x have only update to android 2.3.3 and you cant have 0.42 and next cause its 2.3.4.
Next: r800x is cdma version of XPlay and r800i, r800at... are GSM so u cant flash ftf for them cause ur phone can brick
There are no (i think) roms and sth like this for r800x sry
USA has 4g, other countries have 3g so sry, blame service providers from your country

As others have said before, This belongs in Q&A. But, on topic
The 4.x versions (i.e. .42,.56,.62) builds are R800i specific, and while myself and a couple of others (i.e. 216Monster) have tried porting them, we run into the problem of "Baseband Unknown" (Meaning that we cannot get cellphone reception)
The only way to get a new build of android on the R800x is to unlock the bootloader, then CM 7/9 are stable, and Sony Beta/any thing else based off ics are less stable.
To root your phone, check my sig for the zergRush link.

Thanks for the info. I was looking forward to playing with all the, roms. And mods that were out for this phone, but I failed to do the researh I should have done, and seen there was more then one model. Verizon has really screwed all the r800x users. Again sorry for posting in the wrong place.

Look in proper section, read more.
If you can't understand anything, then custom ROMs and such things are not for you until you learn something. Flashing, installing custom stuff is only for advanced users, newbies shouldn't do it without knowledge.
Thread moved. Please post questions here in Q&A in future. In answer just look for any ROM in here which states it's for your model of phone. The Xperia Ray is not your device so therefore those ROM's won't work.
Best thing you can do is read up lots about your particular device and read the first posts of the ROM threads as they will tell you everything you need to know as no one will likely create you a list.
Thanks

Hello to every1
I am a newbie to android, I recently bought a GT-I900 and I would like to root the phone and install a custom stock firmware.
phone details are as:
Baseband I9100NELS1
Kernel Version:3.0.31 [email protected] #3
Build number: JZO54K.I9100XWLSD
the phone is also locked to three network UK
Please help me on how to root it and install a custom firmware as I hate all the apps that come preinstalled with.
1) This is a question, so post in the Q&A-section, or ask a moderator to move this.
2) Your android version is (surprise!) 4.1.2, so look for guides to root JB.
3) For further questions: read the whole General section for information.
Damn, the WHOLE general forum?
Boy he's in for a few allnighters
