Was texting 3-4 people earlier today. Well I load up the convo from person a and type up a response and hit send...all of a sudden it goes from person a to someone I wasn't even texting today...ok whatever, copy the text and resend it to person a..good it went thru...I text person b,c, and d w no problem...go to respond back to a again once they respond and the message gets sent to person q..another completely random person..the sms bug is still present in gb as im running android 2.3.5?
Im usimg handscent this time around..happened a few weeks back while using gosms n I got ticked and factory re setted which cleared the problem for a short while..this phone is rather annoying with the random lockscreen freeze ups happening all the time..rooted w a few frozen apps that aren't important as per a thread I read on the forum here
(Edit) looking thru tb I can no longer find my frozen apps...they are completely gone...find it weird I try to install the new ota update and it fails everytime as well

In sms/mms messaging, sometimes I receive a mms and instead of displaying the contents, it has a download box. I will click download, wait, and nothing ever appears. There's no location to see where the download goes. It's random that the download will appear within hours or even several days. This has been an issue since I first picked the phone up from 4.1.26 to 4.1.83. Are there any resolves to this problem, it's very annoying. - tia.

You may need to be connected to mobile data to download...wifi doesn't cut it sometimes. I'm not entirely sure how it works as I can receive them sometimes (not on mobile data) but can't send them. But I'd try turning it on if you have problems with MMS (if it's not already on)

Just rebooted my phone and about 10 ppl got pictures I sent out as old as 5 days ago! Crap like this pisses me off on motorola's part. I have done nothing too change or alter messaging on this phone. It's only running rooted 1.83 so it's not just receiving related
Im not sure why its doing this, but im on BAMF2.0 Remix, and i randomly just stop getting text messages. i have to pull the battery to receive them again, im in a 3g area with good signal.. is anyone else having this problem or is there a fix for it other than pulling battery?
if not i dont believe i had this issue with cm7.. dont exactly want to go back being i like BAMF..

For most of last night from 9pm to about 2am I could not receive a text message no matter which phone sent me a text. Of course, I got several messages at 2am (that had been sent earlier that night) waking me up from sleep. I was able to send SMS but not receive. I did everything - battery pull, uninstall GoSMS and use stock messaging app (clearing the cache), cleared davlik cache and rom cache, lol... I tried everything.
Apparently this has happened to quite a few other people. I guess it just goes away after time? I am also guessing since none of my efforts fixed the problem that it is related to the Verizon network? Google: Thunderbolt not receiving texts.
None of the SMS I sent myself from my prepaid phone, from family members, friend, gf, or google voice made it to my phone last night.
I find it really upsetting that I pay $90+/month for this device and I can't even get SMS. Sure this is the only time that I know this happened, but .... lol. If could have happened before without me knowing it.
Low voltage kernel settings wouldn't cause this, would it?

So Im having data issues today i wanna really exchange it Monday but Im afraid if i do il have screen issues right now data will work halfway and i have to keep refreshing the page til it finally loads its horrible but Im afraid to exchange it cause people that are havih the screen problems i have a problem at the upper top looks llike dead piles its a very light spot but usually only seen while on the camera app or when its turned on

If you think about the number of phones that are out there and people only generally post when there's an issue, I wouldn't worry about exchanging it. I've had two phones with no issues.

today I backed up my iphone SMSs and loaded them with sms backup and restore... everything went fine, but then my phone reset and there is a circle with a line through it where the data connection icon should be and says there is no sim installed.... I also cant dial out, but I received a call on the way home from work.
trying to open message app on the phone gives me a time out message and asks me to kill or wait. then the phone just freezes. I'm looking everywhere for a solution... first time android user so this is driving me a little bit nutty.
on my iphone I would just restore firmware... I guess thats what I should try here?

Have you done any type of changes to the phone like rooting, etc.? Anything you can think of that might have caused it or changed something right before it happened?
No, I haven't rooted or anything. All I did was download a few basic apps and then try to transfer my data to the new phone. I ordered a jig and don't want to do anything until it arrives.
I have solved the data issue, somehow the sim came slightly out of place. Once I reseated everything was good. is the sim slot that finicky?
i also did a factory reset and started from scratch and worked out the issue with the text messages. I appreciated your willingness to help a noob, thank you.
This is driving me crazy. For some reason talk back turns on after about 3 days of and jb based rom and even when I un installed it it still selects everything like it's reading it in my browser and Facebook and doesn't let me scroll until it's finished talking.. I've gone through every setting and everything tts is either un installed or off and it won't stop... This happens with every jb rom I've used.. I don't turn it on and when it asks when I'm setting up the phone on first flash I say no.. Then after a few days it turns on and won't stop.. And another problem I have with every ics and jb rom is I get a voice mail notification that won't ever go away. I checked and cleared all my messages and it still won't go away.. These are more of a nuisance but if I can get them to go away it will be awesome and I will be extremely happy haha thanks to anyone who tries to help and a special thanks if anyone know why these things are happening and shows me a fix

So I posted this on the Paranoid Android thread, and I think that was the wrong place to post since I have no eliminated it as a ROM issue. Here is what has happened:
This is the reason I am posting here: today my text messaging has gone goofy. When I send a text message in the default, stock, PA AOSP app, the message says "sending" under it for a little while, then it says the "failed to send message" with the little red triangle on it. Meanwhile, the recipient has gotten 4 copies of the text. Yes, four. It has happened to literally everyone I have sent texts to today: iPhones, Droids, feature phones. I have clean installed the ROM and GApps 3 times today and it still happens. I wiped my internal and SD card from TWRP (got into a little issue there, had to figure out adb sideload, but we are all good now). Checked the MD5's before I installed. It's still happening. Other people with Verizon in the area that I know don't have this issue. Also, this was my 3rd day since installing the ROM, and it didn't happen the first two days, only today. Bottom line, I have no idea what's going on, and I need some help to fix it.
Update on the texting issue: I called VZW and went through their steps, and they said its almost certainly a device issue, and not a network issue. She said that my phone is having trouble contacting the SMS switch, and so it keeps trying to send the message, but it never hears back so then it reports that it can't be sent. The lady I spoke with did file a ticket for a "Network Technician" to take a look at the issue, but that will probably take at least 72 hours. I really hope this is either an issue with the ROM or with the network, because I really don't want to have to go through the process of unrooting and returning to complete stock to get one of vzw's crappy "like new replacements"
Update 2: Restores some of my backups from previous ROMs, including an AOKP 4.2.2 Milestone and an CleanROM VZW SE and the text messaging is still messed up. That pretty much eliminates the chance that its a PA issue, and it is most definitely either a device issue, or a Verizon Network issue. Cross your fingers that its a network issue so I don't have to go through the mess of returning to stock and all that.
Any possible fixes that you guys can think of?
Indeed its a device problem. I've got the reverse issue! I keep receiving the same copies of one message about 10 to 15 times a day. Due to this, the latest message from the respective recipient delays to the next day! I do have tried third party apps but still it doesn't work out... Need help!??
