Hi everybody,
I am here to ask you a question that maybe is trivial, but me being quite newbie, I couldn't find a clear answer.
I have a sony xperia neo, still in warranty; it used to be unlocked but after failing an OTA update, I had to give it back to Sony and they returned me another phone....different motherboard, locked by Vodafone SPAIN!!
Now, if I was still living in Spain, the problem wouldn't be so big, but I am now living in UK and I was wondering if there was anything that I could do, completely via software, to unlock the phone.
Is it possible? Or should I just bring it to one of those "shops" where they can unlock it in a couple of days?
I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty, but I would like not to void my warranty (unlocking by itself doesn't void it)....
Any help, reference, tips....

Hello all :'(
well as you all must know gingerbread came to atrix *Insert Drumroll and epic clap session here*
And with the acceptance of some Terribly bad battery issues and 2 constant restart sessions i fell in love with it.
So i decided to root after missing an app called "Anim mod"
And once i did i noticed yet another problem -__-
When i try to connect to wifi and or bluetooth... it dosent work for about 5 minutes then restarts.
With all you big brained people at XDA i was hoping that any users out there could help me

Well i just flashed back to stock gingerbread and did a full on factory reset
ATNT stock rom

I had the same issue. I ended up having to warranty the phone. I could not find any software solution to fix it.

Yes its possible, or use sony ericsson update center you can google it and i give you 1 advice: 1st try then ask for help

Sorry for your loss mate let it all go,talking with someone will help you lot mate ,helped me lot when my best buddy from like 4 years old,who was/is like my own brother died few years ago due to appendicitis :/
on-topic,yeah lot of times I use pc companions repair button to go back to stock rom whenever I screw up with roms.Tho now I don't use it as it shows 0.62 update in pc companion.Anyway if used SETool2 method to unlock bl we can use pc companion without any problem(tested and works for me).As I heard if used Sony official method you cannot,but re-locking bl again and you can.Not sure about S1tool method-someone need to confirm about this.

You mean like a brown device? They should be already unlocked IIRC.
I'm not sure putting your IMEI here is a good thing. It won't help anybody but may harm you. Better safe than sorry;-)

I have a stupid question, can someone tell me how to unlock Xperia S so that I will be able to use any sim from any network? I have a chance to buy Xperia S on Monday but it is locked to 3 network in UK and I'm currently in Tesco Mobile. Please can someone help asap. Thanks

Is that it? God I thought it will be much harder because I couldn't find it anywhere how to do it. The only way to do it I found was to buy an unlock code for £44 . Sorry for posting here, next time I will write in Q&A if I will have a problem like that. Thanks for your help

I just phoned o2 as they are my network provider and they gave me the unlock code, put a different SIM card in from a different network and put in the code.
I thought they had to.

For most carriers it's against the contract to resell locked devices.

That's why I am informing you. If you ask them to unlock a phone that was sold as a contract violation, it won't do you any good.

There is a way, called ezSEMC. But it costs $40, but it also unlocks bootloader. I can't link yet, but its microunlocker (.) com

yes, it is. i've unlock the acro hd by ezSEMC, but I paid 45$ for it. and I've got the bootloader unlock allowed yes after that.

This would be the case if the original person bought it with contract. But if he got it sim free( pay as you go), then it is legal.
To answer the original question, the only way is to phone three themselves and ask for unlocking code, I think it is 20-30 pounds
I recently bought the Xperia U for my partner that was locked to the 3 network. They will unlock it, BUT the person on the contract will have to make th call and they will supply him with the code, can take up to a week for it as it comes from Sony themselves. I think the cost was about £15 for it.

Try asking Sony support to see if they know where... Its sony they are probably more likely to know since they may know of third party providers
