Problem with baseband - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Samsung S2 worked for about half a year perfectly with the leomar revolution rom.
Yesterday it stoped working. The Sim Card is no longer accessable and the baseband displays base band unknown.
So i reverted to the backups i created and it was no solution.
I tried cyagnomode and it detected the card everything, but i think in the wrong baseband version because it could not unlock the sim card (it took ages and there was no progress).
I swaped back to my original system and tried it again and also here i got no solution.
My Provider is O2 Germany.
I had the unbranded S2.
The original pda version was XWKE7
I hope you can help me.
I don't want to have an expensive mp3 player!

Type *#06# into your phone, does it display your imei number? If not did you make a backup of your efs folder when you started flashing custom roms?

Try this thread. Assuming you don't have a backup of your EFS, that is.

No signal with my S3

Hi. I recently had some trouble with ROMs, and had to reflash CF-Root with Odin. Now I don't have any signal anymore. Flashed a new kernel, ROM and new modem, and I still can't connect to a network. I can find available networks, however, just not connect to them. Does anyone know the problem? Possibly a broken EFS? I did create backups of my EFS, both by copying the folder to my SD card and with an app. I think I used kTool as that app, but I am not completely sure. I'm a bit afraid to restore it with kTool, though. It says it is dangerous in red letters.
Just restore it with ktool. You can't get in a worse position I mean you're already up for warranty claim if you don't try

It still isn't working. Maybe I should manually move the EFS folder that I backed up? I also used root explorer to copy it, but root explorer says that / is read only.
Did you reboot? Hit the little R/W button up the top for root explorer to be able to paste it.
On another note can you go to setting>about device>status
Can you see an imei number

Is your IMEI correct .
As you have flashed multiple stuff why not flash the correct stock rom for your location and network .Making sure the modem is the right one .
Have you entered your network connections .
Is your Sim Card faulty .

I never removed my SIM card, it shouldn't be faulty. I do see an IMEI number, but how do I know if it is correct?

Its on the box >>> its under the battery might even be on your invoice .

IMEI: ***************, which is the same as on the box
IMEI SV: 01, no idea if this is correct
Your IMEI is correct, but you need remove it from here.
It's personnal information. Lot of people search valid IMEI to repair their wrong one.
Then what could the problem be?
EDIT: Now that I think of it, aroudn this time they would give me my new subscription, maybe my SIM card got invalidated.
You have correct IMEI so you should not try to restore your EFS backup. I think it's not the problem.
You should try to flash your phone with the latest official signed stock ROM available in our country (sammobile.com for firmware download).
Then, check if CSC is correct for your area (dial *#272*yourimei# to do that).
You're ok in regards to your ers check your slim is working in another phone

I think i only have last option....SAT.:banghead:
On monday i'll go to shop and send it.
Enviado desde mi Samsung Galaxy S3.
I have same problem. I upgraded via kies and i was unable to connect to network. I can see my imei, csc, baseband but still have problem.
the only problem i have is i can not see th product code and serial number. I restored NV_data.bak but still no improvement.
I am stuck and out of ideas.
can you see your baseband OP? i had this issue and my imei showed up, along with all other info, but my baseband was unknown, i fixed it by using the EFS pro app and restoring my nv_data with it.

[Q] No service after installing any new rom?

Hello guys, I am kinda experienced with flashing roms and stuff since I owned galaxy s2 for over a year. However I bought a second hand galaxy S3 one month ago and it has a turkish firmware however when I tried and installed a new rom everything seems to work find except the network service all i see is a circle and has no service and i tried many roms even jelly bean rom (which worked fine with my friend's S3) even i installed the same exact firmware that i had when i got the phone with the same kernel but got nothing :/ then i took it to where i bought it and he told me i can not install any rom on it and just the one i had on it then he took it for like an hour and it was working again... but its really bothering me! what's wrong? i want to install jelly bean or cyanogenmod but afraid to lose the service again i read its something related to radio or stuff? so any help please?? and here is a screenshot of my kernel and rom..
You could have corrupted the efs folder and all he did was restore it from one he backed up, root the phone flash tools and backup your efs then if there are any problems signal or IMEI just restore the efs you backed up.

[Q] Don't know what's wrong with my phone's imei

Ok, so I used to have cm11 installed, but it got sort of buggy in the long run.
I decided to try Foxhound rom, just for kicks... When it was finished installing, I got the default IMEI and the phone wouldnt connect to the network. I found a way to fix this (without backing up my efs folder), by installing an old rom. After that, I installed ef extreme rom (the one with the s5 ui).. It was supposed to be the most stable and smooth rom... But the camera and hotspot wouldnt work -_- ... I never understood why.
Anyhow, the problem is, now that Im trying to get off that crappy touchwiz rom, I NEVER get service anymore. My IMEI will always go blank.. Now the baseband goes "unkown" too (which hadnt happened before)... For ****s sake, I was trying to go back to my old cm11, and still, crazy IMEI... However, if i install the old rom all over again and the region modem: boom, mobile network works again... I dont understand why it fails to work after i have gotten it fixed over and over again...
I even made a backup of my efs folder when the mobile network is working (on the old rom.. Revolution HD)... When i restore it on newer roms, the IMEI and everything comes back.. however, it wont let me access the network (radio off?)
WTF can i do? Im desperate for help, please!!
@niko: standard is to get your actual firmware from sammobile.com & flash it with Odin … to get a stable base.
Your device serial number is probably corrupted. You can use service box to fully repair this issue. Or you can flash Ariza's patched modem. It will work but your efs folder will be permanently screwed and you will be forced to flash it every time you flash a new firmware.

[Q] searching for network error

Decided to update my GT-i9300 today.
These are the steps I took before I flashed new rom.
Format and factory reset
Wipe cache
Davlik cleaned
Flash new rom
Reboot
I have tried Lollipop 5.0, 5.1 and KitKat all with the same results. Phone keeps losing network connection (Three), I have tried suggestions like airplane mode, delete and reinsert APN detail, remove sim card, switch off phone. I have also reflashed all 3 ROMs twice and still exactly the same error.
Install my backup (Original) Rom and all works fine.
I have the latest CWM too.
Can any help and advise please?
No one willing to help?
I have googled and searched this forum and that is where I found the suggestions that I have tried.
Is your imei and your phone's serial number original?
You can find it in Settings-about device-status
It seems correct to me.
I purchased phone in used condition with broken screen from a work colleague two years ago (no longer works here). I repaired screen but replacement did not have sticker under battery, I stupidly did not remove original sticker or keep a record (stupid I know). Well about two weeks ago I tried to flash a new rom but bricked phone, would not turn on whatsoever. Sent phone off to get repaired (Ebay) but because there was no IMEI number and I did not have box or the original sticker the guy would not repair (which I understand), I located my IMEI number from Google Dashboard and then got a Checkmend Certificate to prove that the phone was legit.
Since it's return I have had this problem. He has flashed an image on which seems to work but no other image that I try will work.
IMEI number is correct as far as I am aware but I am not sure how to confirm the Serial number is correct, any advice?
Just been to an IMEI checking website, inserted my IMEI number and listed serial number on phone and all details came back correct.
Your efs is corrupted and will no longer work with firmware that requires v2 efs.
Only solution, which is what your repair guy did, is to flash the patched modem and kernel -which enables the efs to be read again.
Each time you flash a firmware you will need to then flash patched modem and kernel before you can get connection.

Thanks for your reply. Decided to try one last time. Flashed CM 12.1 and it seems to have worked except for one thing, my serial number is not the same as before. IMEI is fine.

no IMEI although correct EFS partition, nandroid backup to new phone

so i got a replacement phone off my insurance for my s9 + and i did a nandoid backup of everything on my original phone and used it on my new phone exept the efs partition. and there is no sim servies and the phone says "unknown" IMEI" i do have a backup of the efs but restoring from it does nothing however if i factory reset it (using default rom on odin) then the sim serives work(while on android 10), and my orignal phone is android 8.0 and with older firmware while my replacement is android 10.0 with newer firmware. under inspecting the efs files in notepad of the two phones i can see strings of data that are different (obvs) but to me it looks like a different layout, like on the newer firmware it processes/handles it differently, my guess is when using my using my old phones rom and etc the new firmware cant read it? this is all very confusing to me, i thought nandroid backups where simple -_- also ill note that if i dial some commands eg *#06#* it says "sm-g965f is not supported on showIMEI" but if i do the *#*#197328640#*#* nothing happens and servicemode opens but with no options or text... i assume this is because using old rom software on the new firmware isnt communicating right? what would be the best way to get my data, OS, and root on this new phone? im a noob with this, just 1 problem after the other....
also showing unknown baseband
help would be much appreciated,
never mind i fixed it by flashing the orginal baseband partition with carrier configs, my phone now thinks its t mobile when its with three but idc, sim services work lol
