So im thinking of buying this phone but i read that it has a lot of problems with overheating and touchscreen. I know there are other topics about it but i have to make a decision in two days so i would like to know if this is a just a issue with few phones or a widespread problem. This one is the best from the bunch i could take (others are x8, galaxy mini, galax fit,3GS) but i wouldnt like to make a error and take it because i dont have that much money . Thanks in advance
this problem is with very few older phones, I suggest you to buy through a big store to get the latest model
I see... Tele2 (in croatia) is offering this phone for a relatively low price on a contract (50 euros, 2 year contract around 15 euros per month, still a rip-off) so i will most likley get it. Is there any way to check if this is the new model?

Hey man i feel you still I bought my X10 on the day it was released here in Canada with high hopes, and it been kinda of ****. But to be honest If you got your phone with a contract just keep the phone for a year or something and just wait for the next gen phones to come out to Rogers/Canada. I know some people are have switched to the Desire and stuff, well it may seem cool now it is kinda outdated and the "next gen" phones are coming out next year as well. So yeh.
Also try ebay. I tried to sell my X10 at a point but people are kinda aware of the lack of multi touch and stuff so I gave up. One guy was asking me 250.

The going price in the UK for a used X10 in good condition without scratches is between 200 and 250 pounds. I think it's a good price. You could can sell on ebay as long as you are priced right.
I get one free device per year of up to 1,000 euro in value from my service provider. Plus the local dealer let's me get a second device at the same price as a new customers with contract. So I bought the iphone4 in the beginning of July for 300.
I got the X10 for free, so 200 pounds would go towards covering the cost of the 4. I am taking mine to a flea market next weekend and going to try to get 300 to 250. If not I will put it on Ebay with a buy now price of 220.
Are you just trying to sell it or do you want to replace it with another phone? I'd suggest offering a trade for some other phones on Kijiji and various message boards...

Hello, forumers. I am new to Android or I should say I intended to be new to Android. I was really pumped about getting my phone though O2 and saving a load of money (effectively paying £320 on contract over two years). It seems like I am a poor credit and the geniuses over O2 cannot find a way for me to take out a contract with them so my only way to go is PAYG.
Thus, my question. How long do you it will take for the Galaxy S2's price to drop to £400 PAYG at most (least would be best)? For example, I read somewhere (forgot where) that it took the HTC Desire 3 months to be reduced by 25%. Assuming the Galaxy S2's original price was £600 a 25% drop would be £450 which is acceptable (to an extent).
Anyone able/willing to make a prediction?

Difficult to predict, especially when the Desire HD etc still retail at 450.00 in the likes of CPW sim free, and the demand...i imagine it will be a while...unless you find a good one second hand.
just get it from O2 at 399 on PAYG, then get it unlocked at a later stage when the guys figure out how to do it with a soft mod or pay the 15.00 to get it done.
that's your best bet.

It was, until recently, £399 on PAYG. But that offer has gone from O2 now It may return though...

Now, that's a possibility only if O2 bring back PAYG at the same price which a lot of people are speculating they won't.
As the SGS 1 was priced at £350 PAYG and the SGS2 is selling i cannot see a further drop from the £399 of O2 PAYG . Phone is sold sim free for £550 in places .

I am rocking the Galaxy S (Captivate) that I got two years ago on release day, so I am having some gunshy issues that I wanted someone's opinion on. Back when I got this phone, I immediately sacrificed the warranty and everything which, three months later, turned out to be a very bad idea since the "first edition" of my phone had broken GPS, a faulty speaker, and the world's worst antenna. This was fixed in the later batches of my phone.
Fast forward to today:
I really want an S3. I know that I am not going to ever use LTE here in the US, so I was thinking of getting the international version. However, after reading all these threads about so many problems (bluetooth, wifi, battery, and especially the screen), I'm a bit gunshy on buying it (especially since I don't have the "walk into store and exchange" convenience of buying it from AT&T.
So I just have a few questions:
If I bought the international version and, say, the screen had a bad tint (like many people here), do I have a manufacturer warranty that covers that? Is it exchangeable (do I have to pay shipping, etc)?
Is there a good company to buy an extended warranty from for the phone (for drops and such)? I have heard of "Square Trade", but I read somewhere that they won't cover imported/international phones.
What is a good company to buy phones through? (I've never purchased a cellphone online...)
Is it smart (READ: will it do anything) to wait a few months for the next "batch" of phones to be manufactured so that some of these problems may be fixed? If so, how long do you think?
Obviously, I understand "response bias", so people who post the threads on these forums are those who have problems (and millions don't).
If someone has posted a thread similar to this that I missed, feel free to yell (nicely) at me. I have searched for a while, and I have also lurked these forums for the last week but I didn't see anything with a culmination of people in my situation.

Not many people post on forums to say "everything is hunky dory" , they post when they need help with a problem. It's like going into a hospital and saying wow the plague is back...
As far as I know the manufacturer warranty will still cover you so long as you ship it back to the uk if you have a problem.
I'm currently using the captivate also. I'm getting ready to upgrade between either the S3 or the One X. I leaning more towards the S3 simply because I prefer Samsung and TWiz. If I get the S3 though, I'm going to buy the AT&T version because 1. It won't cost me as much, just $200 instead of $600 or so dollars. 2. The snapdragon s4 cpu that is in the AT&T version is a newer CPU than that of the exynos, I love exynos as well but I hear this CPU is outperforming it. 3. More ram, the AT&T S3 has 2gb. 4. LTE. 5. The convenience of having a local store to be able to return the phone.
I'm not sure about manufacturer warranty's on phones without contracts since I've never bought one off contract. I would guess you get at least one year free from defects. And i would almost guarantee you pay the shipping costs to mail your phone back and probably for them to mail you a new one. Good luck with your purchase.

I have a virtually brand new sgs2 (white ) its only been used as a spare for my girlfriend until she got her new phone,so its about a month old. It has been rooted but no custom ROMs as she just needed the temp sim unlock which I have now removed again but kept the root enabled. So I would like now to sell it and was wondering how much these are worth today?. Its 3 UK carrier with all leads,headphones etc and boxed and has a screen protector under the original over covers.
Looked around but the variety of prices makes it unclear how much I should sell for,any ideas.........

Edit - Scrub what I said about Marketplace. Seems they closed it a couple months ago. Or sites like this. I'd be surprised if you didn't have them in the UK (Google = friend).

Mmmmmm I wanted a community perspective on pricing because like I said I have looked but the variations on pricing are so different everywhere I look. I want to give somebody a bargain/fair price but I don't want to get ripped off either. The phone was free to me and I have a nexus 4 so I don't need the s2. Thanks but no disrespect I don't need links to here and there but would appreciate a comment like.....

i made a research on the used price of the s2 for a friend of mine, and it goes from 250€ to 350€.
i think around 300€ (or 257.55£) is a fair price
Always go a little higher than what you want to sell it at ( 250 = 270 etc.) because people always wants to go down in price .

Well If you're thinking of selling it...do it fast, samsung might drop the price of SGS2 anytime soon, coz its already doing that for many phones like S3 and note 2 etc..
Well it should go for about british 250 pounds(shouldn't go more than that) if you have all required stuff and accessories...
depends on buyer how much he's willing to pay..
Youll get nowhere near £250.I sold mines for £205 on boxing day,and a 3 month old note for £250 the day after that.Done it via eBay and that cost me about £50.
I believe Orange were selling brand new s2 for £199.99 not long after that.
You list the phone for whatever you think its worth and see if anybody bites.

Well in India you could sell that for about Rs.18000 to a dealer who deals second hand phones... Coz its only a month old...
That guy will increase the price to Rs.19-20000(220 pounds) and sell in the market... That's all I know... confirmed..
Plus markets are pretty different from places to places... Idk whether it's a good or bad idea selling it online...
Better sell it to a friend or someone...coz that person will feel a sense of security and already knows how less you've used it so will be willing to pay more..
Now u shouldn't be selling it nowhere below 170 pounds... Coz am already getting a 4 month used galaxy S2 in that price here...

The price would totally depend on where you want to sell it... Ebay is one thing, local Craigslist is another. As always, it's not what you want to sell it for, but what someone is willing to pay for it. In my local market, my target would be somewhere around $220-$250. $200 would be the lowest I'd sell it for. I bought my SGS2 a month ago for $140 on Craigslist. The only problems with it were the crappy battery and a scratched lens cover, so I had to buy a replacement casing and a new battery (about $30 worth in total)...

Hey everyone, I really need help deciding on a temporary phone. My digitizer's messed up, can't get repair service anywhere without getting ripped-off, can't do repairs myself. So I decided to hunt for used phones as a temporary/spare phone solution instead while waiting for 27 October when my contract renews.
I got the Xperia Play at $150 (Singapore dollars) but I feel very uneasy about the phone since I have issues with modding it anyway. Currently I'm willing to switch that out to either a 4XHD standing at around $250, or a S2 at $220. They're still a lil' too pricey even for used phones I feel. Which one would you guys go for, and why?
Also, was wondering if anyone can give me strong reasons to give while bargaining to get better prices. Like trading in older devices or superficial reasoning (I dunno) something lol. Really lacking the money to go over those prices... but if I have to I guess it won't hurt too much...
S2 is a solid phone. I'm still using it with really no real motivation ATM to upgrade it.
The Atrix is another solid phone, and might be easier on your budget.
If you are not really comfortable with Modding your phone, then check out the Nexus 4.
^ That will give you all the current JellyBean goodness, and most likely KitKat as well for a very reasonable price...

Atrix' have been selling on craiglists near me for 90 dollars and thats a steal. If I had more money atm I would buy them and resell them for at least 130. Atrix is a solid phone. AND a Jelly Bean 4.2.2 rom available that I use as a daily driver.
Galaxy S II is also a great choice, though if you are in the US there are like 3 versions and some have better battery life than others, and varying features. would play ~ 140
For real cheap a Lumia 520 (Windows Phone 8) has been bouncing around the internet as a $85 go-phone.
