[Q] Sms recovery - how - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have deleted important sms few days ago and I would like to recover it if its possible.
The most importat is the numer which sent this message - the number is not in my contact list :/ (in adroid there is dial list so its no problem after deleting sthing)
any chance to solve this issue ?

I'm not sure, but...
if you haven't activated delete immediately in settings there should be a menu in inbox, where you can go to your deleted but stored SMS.

unfortunetlly I have "on" the direct delete the messages so the "deleted messages" are empty

[Q] Unable to delete SMS messages

Hi guys,
I've just found out that I could not delete now SOME of the messages from one of my contacts unlike before. Menu->Delete Messages are no longer working for that person, and to my amazement for this person only. The feature is still working with my other contact's SMS.
I hope anybody can offer some help.
Thanks.
Just to check, there are messages from that person to delete, rather than an empty list?
Can you select them in 'all messages'?

[Q] Fantom texts

Every time I reset my phone when it restarts, it tells me i have a new text message even though there is no message in my text inbox. anyone come across this before?
yes, i know this problem, and never got it solved >.< after a time it was away.. xD
what helped in my case was switching SMS view to traditional, then while scrolling through the inbox I've found one supposedly unread message at the very end of the list, after opening it marker disappeared
how to change to traditional view and back >.<
I have deleted all my messages. if i receive a sms then delete it, it clears, but if i reset it comes back.

page 146 of manual: "To manage text and multimedia messages by folders
If you want to use the conventional way of managing your messages by folders, tap Menu > Settings > Traditional Mode on the All Messages screen. The Inbox folder is then displayed, listing separate text and multimedia messages instead of threading."
another possible solution could be using PIM Backup to backup all text messages, deleting all manually and restore back - I did not try it, as the method above helped in my case
If you had another phone with a SIM and moved the SIM to your HD2 you may find there is a text message on the SIM. The HD2 can't delete from the SIM so you need to put the SIM back in a "dumb" phone and delete it there.

[Q] SMS on Storage Card

i have a htc hd2 ... how can i set when i receive a message . the message stored at sd card ?
or is there a way ?
to clean after receiving the sms from phone memory and save it to sd card.
with a huge amount of sms the device become slower and slower and often only a new rom is the solution for my problems. .
hope you can help me.
with kind regards
Have you went to your messaging app and clicked on menu at tje bottom and then settings and, selected for hour deleted messages to be removed imidiately? If you have not then when you delete hour messages they are not deleted but just removed from veiw, you have to click on the menu button at the bottom of the massaging app and then select clear meassages to perminently delete the messages. But if you select to have them deleted imidiately they delete when you select delete and you don't have to do anything else.

Messaging crashed after importing from iOS?

I tried to import my messages from IOS to Android 4.2 using isms2droid and SMS Backup & Restore. Now, I can see all the people that I sent a message to, but as soon as I try to go into the conversation, Messaging crashes and all the conversations are gone, I can still use the phone just not Messaging. However, restarting the phone allows me to see the names again, but again as soon as I enter a conversation they disappear. I tried to delete all the messages using SMS Backup & Restore but it just stalls on the "deleting messages" box. Now I can't delete any messages nor send any new ones, can anyone help please?

It happens sometimes that the Mms.apk is "overloaded". Your phone had zero messages and after the restore there are 1000 or more.
But can you open the converted SMS dump with the backup and restore app? Only to be sure that the dump is a valid XML and readable.
An alternative messaging app could fix the problem, because it could push the stock mms in the direction.

It can be viewed so I don't think there's a problem with the XML, isn't there any other way to delete the messages? Maybe directly through one of the folders?

Strange SMS Problem... Random Characters...

Hello All,
I have been experiencing a strange problem for a long time and now I'd finally like to eliminate it.
When I first got my DS5 (bought directly from Dell at announcement!), I moved my contacts database over from a couple WinMobile2003 phones (HTC TyTN I & II). The conversion went smoothly except for the strange occurrence of extraneous characters - in particular commas! I've combed the contacts database on the DS5 and removed and corrected any and all problem entries.
After all this the native Froyo 2.2.2 ('351) SMS application sometimes shows commas in a thread for a particular contact, for example, if the messages for contact entry "John Doe" with number "+1-800-555-1212' is being viewed, the SMS app shows "John Doe <,18005551212>"! If I attempt to just reply from within the thread, I will get an error indicating there was a problem with the number (due to the",")! So, if I want to reply to a "corrupted entry", I have to use the phone app's contacts feature to send a SMS and strangely when my message is sent, it automatically opens the SMS app with the correct name and number without the extraneous comma... If I then exit the thread to top-level listing of all messages, then re-enter the previously correct thread - the comma is now shown! It seems whatever database the SMS program uses is screwed up. By the way, I have even deleted a corrupted thread and when a new message is sent or received, the comma comes back!
Before I attempt a complete reinstall of everything and a re-sync with my Gmail contacts. (along with backed-up SMS, MMS & Call Log using the Market App "Backup to Gmail") , I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same problem and corrected it?
Thanks, in advance, for your all's help...
