I think we should look at what if anything are the Deltas (differences) between the working ATP's and non-working ones.

Here are my versions after the firmware update. Only thing that changed with the update was the Kernal and BN.

anyone know what Pad Ec is?
I think that's an i2c controller.
The kernel module (drivers/input/asusec/) has some functions for battery status (tablet and/or dock), dock status (connected/lidd open), keyboard/touchpad, etc
Android version: 3.2.1
GPS version: 5.8.12
I would say not working. It has occasionally gotten a satellite lock in GPS Essentials when left for a long time outside, but doesn't seem to work on the move or indoors. I did tether to my phone while traveling in the car, which had a good GPS lock. Internet worked fine but GPS still didn't, so I don't think just having a Wi-Fi connection is good enough to get the GPS going.
Wi-Fi version: 5.1.2.46
Works fine
Bluetooth version: V7.26

This is a 64 TP shipped to and bought in Germany
Direct GPS signal strength comparison between SGS2 and TF201 in car (non-coated windshield, same as "no windshield" for gps) using GPS Test:
SGS2: 41-26
TP: 21-11
The drive I just took showed one thing very clearly: The time to a fix is SLOW and the signal gets lost so often the TP is UNUSABLE for navigation. I've had my Galaxy S2 running parallel to compare the available signal, and this is a MASSIVE FAILURE.
Does the GPS find any satellites? YES. Does it do so quickly and reliably? NO. DEFINITE GPS FAIL.
Support ticket submitted.
I had hoped to be more active and soliciting on this thread...but being out of town and the growing anger at my tab..i've not compiled all the data so far as I should.
My tab seems to be experiencing more issues than the normal person's disfunctional....where factory restoring 2-4 times a day is becoming the norm.
Maybe people have decided that their numbers are the same so they aren't posting which is ok too.
Would a vote be more appropriate?
well off to watch a movie with my niece and nephew and take a break from what's become a telling ordeal..(yes...i'm on vacation so i'm obsessed with making this thing work)
Happy New Year All.

dang, that many resets or restores is not acceptable. I see where you coming from now. just exchange it then. that's the best bet.

Hi Folks. In return for helpful suggestions to my questions below, I'm giving away 50 Google+ invites.
I'm just getting ready for a trip to Europe and would like to upgrade the default Android 2.3 on my new tablet from China. The existing Android 2.3 on it is designed for mobile phones and is also clunky. I know Android 2.3 is only designed for mobile phones, and Android 3.x will be for tablets (and is not yet released by Google to everyone), but I wanted to see if there is a custom Android 2.3 ROM I could use that's better than the stock one and works better for a tablet, and also has less mobile phone processes running, e.g. I had to install a free app to put the darn thing into "Airplane Mode" (which turned off a lot of the mobile phone processes) and still use Wi-Fi, which increased the battery life by 300% !!
So, my Android 7" tablet specs are:
- full details at: www[dot]techtoys2go[dot]com/quicksilver
- Operating System: Android 2.3.3, Kernel version 2.6.35.7
- Processor: Telechips TCC8803 1.2GHz
- Screen: 7", 800*480 multi-touch
- Touchscreen: capacitive (I did NOT buy the cheaper resistive version)
- Memory: 512MB DDR3
- Storage: 4GB built in
- Card Reader: microSD up to 32GB
- Audio: speaker, phones, mic
- Other Ports: miniHDMI, miniUSB
- Webcam: VGA front facing
- 3G Network: 3G ready, external dongle
- Wi-Fi: 802.11b/g
- G Sensor: yes
- Battery: 3.7v 3600mAh lithium
Which custom Android 2.3 ROM do you think will work on this and is good? Help me out guys, I need an answer quick so I can root/burn this sucker in the next few days before my trip on Monday. First 50 cool responses get a Google+ invite Hope that's tempting enough. LOL
Cheers
Steve
You should take a look over on Android Tablet Forum, they have sections for a lot of Chinese Tablets:
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/
Thanks Killall. I took a look, but didn't see anything useful there. Cheers
Well, it seems there is a nice looking ROM specifically for these cheap Chinese tablets. I'm not sure if it will work on my 7" Android tablet, but I guess the only way to find out is to try it. If anyone has any suggestions before I try it, let me know:

WIFI What is your control item
This might be a little late in this thread but I own the TF101 and bought the TF201 cause of the awesome specs... I found the TF201 serial BKOCAS** to be 50% of the TF101.
My point being, what are all these people comparing there 201's against to say magnanimously "works fine" on wifi"?
I have a MID purchased from Tradestead.com , Their stock# is a tradestead.com/wholesale-7-capacitive-android-2-3-wifi-4gb-tablet-pc-mid-a10-1-2ghz-consumption_p15297.html PPC-180-2MX
It looks identical to a Bmorn V11, Aldi Minitab, Skytex Alpha 2, goclever a73, LY-F1, etc.
(I have tried all of these FW, but none are working for the digitizer, some are better in allowing some response, others no response at all.
LY-F1 has the ft5x_ts module and was the closest of them all to getting the MID's Digitizer to work right; LY-F1 was perfect in all ways except the gravity sensor was 180 degrees off (hold it and up was down) and left was right on the touch screen.
So, does anyone know how to tweak the module so that I can correct the screen orientation? I am CLOSE...
Here are the specs on the original FW:

I really need to have assistance in locating the FW because the seller WILL NOT help and WILL NOT disclose what supplier and or manufacture this MID is from (I have called Hong Kong and China offices, spoke to them and they are nice but refuse and make up excuses as to why they cannot get original FW and upload to their site)
I do have an identical MID (I ordered two) and don't know anything about how or where or if possible to get the driver, etc. So, I have a working MID and the Mystery MID..
As far as I can see is having the need to calibrate the MID; I have searched on how to calibrate via adb shell but I have not found anything really that is helping.
Any help appreciated.

I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS using Samsung's official release and now I get no sound out to my TV via the MHL-HDMI adapter, which is a 3rd party 'CableMatters' brand. Also, the video in landscape mode is cropped at 4:3 aspect ratio (sides are cut off, not queezed) although it is displayed at 16:9 on the phone. This all worked perfectly before the upgrade.
I can't find any reference to this issue. Has the tiny minority who use the MHL-HDMI adapter run into this at all? Also, I recall there was some kind of TV Out menu in settings. I don't see that in ICS. Is it hidden somewhere?
Hrmm...OK I just tried a different television and...it works as expected. Must be my set up at home. It's either a display or cable issue. Not sure what has changed in ICS that would break that, it might be coincidental with either television or cable.
SOLVED: Samsung official update to ICS broke MHL-HMDI out
I don't know how to change the original thread subject but I resolved this on my own.
The problem was the HDMI cable. Not all HDMI cables are the same and perhaps Gingerbread was a little more forgiving than ICS? No idea, have no plans to revert back.
I thought I'd post the solution on here in the unlikely event that someone experiences this problem.
Okay, so I bought a Phone/Tablet at the local flea market for $170. I liked it cause it was small enough to use as a phone an big enough to use as a tablet but wasn't $300.
I cannot find ANY information on it!! There is no name, no manufacturer and no information other than a sale post on a Finnish website.
